Chapter 6: The road to Harmony

The 6 mares plus human are seen traveling deep within the Everfree forest at night under the light of the pale moon. During that time Twilight and Dayman had explained to the other mares of how the human had arrived to Equestria, his relation to the legend of Crimson Star, and why he was under disguised upon arriving to Ponyvile.

“So let me get this straight.” said the rainbow haired Pegasus known as Dash as she floats next to Dayman.

“You crashed down in the form of a shooting star, was hidden in the royal castle in Canterlot, found out that you were related to not just the princess but to the legendary Crimson Star, and was planned to be revealed to the rest of us during the celebration which is why you disguised yourself as a pony.” Said Rainbow dash as Dayman and Twilight nodded at her as the other mares were in disbelief that the stallion before them was a descendant of the legendary Crimson Star.

“That… is so… AWESOME!!” said Dash who was overjoyed at the news.

“Dayman if you don’t mind me asking, but if what you and Twilight said is true then why was it kept a secret? After all I figured that a descendant of Crimson Star would have been something to celebrate.” Asked Rarity as Dayman sighed at this.

“Keep in mind Miss Belle the ponies of this kingdom did not know that Crimson was a human for he had altered his appearance to be better accepted to the ponies. Plus no one had ever seen a human before which is why they had to hide that detail to not cause a panic.” Answered the human as Applejack walked next to him.

“It musta been surprisin to find out that your related to one of the most legendary heroes in all of Equestria.” She said to which the human agreed.

“It is though I can’t really say for sure since I can’t remember anything but name.” he said to which then asked.

“What do you mean you don’t remember?” she asked as Dayman answers the pink mare’s question.

“When I arrived to Equestria I was in a comma for a few days before waking up. But for whatever reason I am unable to remember anything but my name and even as I try to remember I would suffer painful migraines.” He said as Twilight says her part.

“The doctors believe that it’s because of the comma that he is unable to remember. But so far he seems to be getting small bits of his memories such as his fighting skills.” She said as Dayman continued.

“Not only that but I seem to be getting small flashes when I first interacted with the ponies of this town. For they would all look like someone familiar to me then back to their normal selves.” He said as Applejack realized something.

“Is that why ya reacted that way when Applebloom got near ya? Asked AJ as the human nodded at her.

“For some reason I saw her as little human girl with red braided hair. She looked familiar to me, but I just can’t remember why. And it wasn’t just your sister the same had happened after meeting Fluttershy, Pinkie, Dash, and Rarity.” He said as Flutter pats the man on his back.

“I am sorry that your unable to remember anything, but I am sure that you will get your memories back some day.” She said softly while also giving him a reassuring smile as Dayman smiles back at her.

“Thank you for the reassurance miss shy, but I believe that we should focus on getting the elements and put an end to this nightmare once and for all.” Said the human as the other mare nodded as Twilight smiled at the human’s optimism.

However, that soon changes once she notices at how quiet the forest was as she looks around worryingly.

“So, none of you have ever entered this place?” asked the purple unicorn as the other mares shook their heads.

“Oh, heavens no, just look at this place its completely dreadful.” Answered Rarity.

“Folks say it doesn’t work the same way as the rest of Equestria. All the plant life takes care of itself here.” Said Applejack as Fluttershy said her piece.

“Even the wildlife here takes care of itself.” Said Fluttershy as Rainbow said her part.

“Not only that, but the weather here even works on its own.” Said Rainbow as Dayman raised an eyebrow as Twilight was feeling creeped out.

“Is there a reason for all of this?” asked Twilight as Rainbow then appears before the group from the shadows.

“No pony knows… because no pony has made it out alive.” Said Rainbow is a creepy tone scaring some of the mare except for Applejack and Twilight who looked unamused while Dayman just looked confused at the whole thing.

“Alright Rainbow, ya had yer fun now let’s-…” said Applejack who cuts herself off when the ground started to shake violently as the ground then collapses as group were now sliding down the cliff side.

Dash and Fluttershy were in the air thanks to their wings as they zoom toward the mares as Dash lifts Pinkie up in the air while Fluttershy lifts Rarity. Applejack manages to grab onto a root stopping her decent as Twilight is seen grabbing onto the ledge of smaller cliff as AJ lets go of the root and slides towards the hanging mare. Dayman on the other hands was still sliding down as he drives the pointed ends of his metal glove onto the dirt as it stops his decent. He then looks up from only to see Twilight hanging on for dear life and Applejack struggling to pull her up as the human goes wide-eyed at this.

“TWILIGHT!!” yelled out the human as something flashes on his back where a pair of red wings made of energy appear as Dayman then zooms up toward the mares.

Applejack take notice of this and is surprised before looking toward Twilight.

“Twilight I am going to have to let ya go!” she said as Twilight goes wide-eyed at this.

“WHAT! NO JUST PULL ME UP!!” yelled the frantic unicorn mare as Applejack shook her head.

“Trust me Twilight. I promise ya that yer going to be fine. And that’s the truth.” Said Applejack as Twilight was hesitant at first, but after seeing the sincerity in the apple mares’ eyes Twilight nods to her as she lets go and goes down only for something or rather someone to catch her as she was now held in the arms of her human friend Dayman who now sported a pair of red wings on his back much to the shock of Twilight and mares around them.

“You okay Twilight?” asked the human to which Twilight simply nods at her as they both set themselves down as Applejack heads down the cliff side.

Once they were down it was then that Twilight realized that she was being carried like that of a princess as her face turns completely red. Dayman then sets her down as the purple unicorn tries to calm herself down while the others approached the two still in disbelief on the humans’ glowing red wings.

“Darling, are those wings?” asked Rarity as Dayman examines his new wings before they close and disappear from his back.

“I believe they are.” He said as Dash said her part.

“That is so awesome. Well not as awesome as me but still awesome not to mention that you moved so fast when you went in to save Twilight. You were like zoom, then Twilight was like falling down, then you were like got you, and then you were like floating down to the ground.” she said in excitement as the others soon agreed.

“Could this be one of your abilities that Crimson Star had?” asked Twilight to which Dayman shrugged at her.

“I honestly don’t know Twilight. When I saw you hanging on for dear life my mind was focused on saving you and as if on auto pilot these wings appeared, and I flew towards you.” He said honestly to which Applejack then confirmed to the other mares who were shocked at this.

“Anyway, we should continue our journey to the old castle if we wish to stop Nightmare Moon.” He reminded the group to which they all nodded as they continued down the path, yet they started to wonder more about the human and what other abilities he may possess.

As the group continued down the path Rainbow was recounting on what had happened earlier from saving Pinkie Pie to mentioning Dayman’s new wings much the annoyance of Twilight and to the human’s amusement. However, it was then that they heard a growling which had startled the girls as Dayman pulls out his sword as they all got close to him as the human looked around in all directions hoping to find the source of the growl. Suddenly the sound of bushes being rattled was made as large form leap from them before landing in front of the group, revealing itself to be a large lion with bat like wings and a scorpion tail as it then roared at the group some scaring some of the mares while the human stayed calm as he stared daggers at the creature.

“It’s a manticore.” Said Pinkie as the monster was snarling at the group it was then that Fluttershy noticed something was off with the creature for it was standing on 3 legs while the fourth one was held up from the ground.

“Looks like we have to fight our way past this thing. Every pony, get ready.” Said Twilight as the group was preparing themselves for a fight but before any of them moved Fluttershy stepped in.

“Wait!!”

She yelled out as the group froze while the yellow Pegasus flew towards the creature who snarled at her as Fluttershy begins to pet the large creature who to the surprise of the mares and human was calming down.

“Its okay.” she says in a soothing voice as the manticore was now calm and as she stood close to it Fluttershy then notice the large thorn on it paw to which.

“Oh, dear you poor thing. Its no wonder you were in a bad mood. Dayman, can you help me remove this thorn from the manticores paw if you don’t mind me asking?” asked the yellow Pegasus to which the human nods at her before putting away his sword as he stood beside the Pegasus mare and proceeded to pull the thorn out in a snap. The creature then grabbed the two and started to lick both in gratitude much to their amusement while the others stood there in surprise. It was then that Dayman motions the others to move past the manticore who was now distracted as they nodded and proceeded to move farther down the path as the manticore lets Dayman and Fluttershy down as it walks away as the human and Pegasus mare rejoined the group.

“How did you know about the thorn?” asked Twilight as Fluttershy answered her question.

“I didn’t at first, but sometimes we all need to be just a little kindness.” Said the yellow mare as Dayman nods to her.

“Wise words miss shy.” Said Dayman to which the yellow mare smiles at his compliment as Twilight then catches up the two.

As the group continued down the path Rarity was beginning to grow a bit agitated from all the muck and dirt around her the further, they moved down the path.

“Honestly I wish I could rest my eyes from all this muck and dirt.” She said in disgust, but that was when the light of the moon began to dim as everything started becoming darker than before.

“This is really not what I meant.” Said the white unicorn as the group tried to maneuver down the path but found it difficult with how dark it was as they would bump into one another, or trip onto something on the ground.

Dayman on the other hand was able to move through the darkness without any issue, for it seemed that walking through the darkness was familiar to him yet he didn’t know why exactly. He was then broken out of his thoughts when he heard a scream as he pulled out his sword as he looked around and saw the mares were running around screaming as the trees around them had monstrous faces to which the human simply raised an eyebrow at as he got to the center where the mares had gathered still screaming their heads off, but it was then that they heard someone giggling nearby as they all turn to see Pinkie Pie laughing at one of the scary looking trees.

“Pinkie what are you doing? RUN!” said Twilight as Pinkie shook her head towards the group.

“Silly girls don’t you see.” Said Pinkie as music began to play much to the human’s confusion as the pink mare began to sing a song.

Over the course of the song Pinkie began to explain how her grandmother had told her that its best to face your fears rather than run and hide. For they will not hurt you in the end and to simply laugh at them to make them disappear which helped as the trees began to revert into normal trees. Soon the mares plus the human joined in as they laughter had reverted the area back to normal as the mares soon fell on the ground giggling while the human stood up smiling at the whole thing.

Once they all calmed down, they all got up from the ground and continued down the path, but not before thanking Pinkie Pie.

“I have to say Miss Pie that was a unique way to break the rest of the mares out from their fears.” Said Dayman as all eyes were on him.

“Wait you weren’t scared?” asked Rainbow as Dayman shook his head.

“Honestly, they seemed rather ridiculous to me.” He said as the mares stared at him in bewilderment as they continued down the path, until they arrived close to a rived which was blocking their way.

As they wondered how to cross the river, they then heard crying nearby as they were shocked to see a large purple dragon serpent crying his eyes out as the tears were forming a literal river. It was then that Dayman approached the dragon with curiosity.

“Excuse me sir, but my I ask what seems to be the problem?” asked Dayman as the dragon sniffled and noticed the human and the mares behind him.

“What is wrong, just look at what had happened to my poor mustache.” He said as he motions toward his mustache which had the right half torn off.

“I was simply minding my own business until a blue cloud of smoke appeared and proceeded to ruin the right side of my mustache. And now look at it, its ruined just what kind of heartless being would destroy an important feature to one’s body.” Said the dragon as he continued to cry.

“Oh, you poor thing such a thing like this a crime against fashion. With how elegant you’ve kept your mustache and that elegant looking mane certainly this matter must be corrected immediately. Dayman be a dear and hand me your sword.” Said Rarity as Dayman hands her the sword as she uses it to cut a chunk of her curly tail before using her magic as she attaches it to dragon’s mustache as he smiles with glee.

“Oh, my mustache, thank you very much little miss thank you so much.” Said the dragon as the white unicorn nods at her as she hands the sword back to Dayman.

“Oh, Rarity your beautiful tail.” Said Twilight as Rarity smiles at her.

“Oh, don’t worry dear, after all short tails are in this season. Plus, it will probably grow back.” She said as Dayman smiled at her.

“That was very generous of you Lady Rarity.” Said the human as Rarity smiled at Dayman’s words.

With the water now lowered they were about to cross only for the purple dragon to use its body as a makeshift bridge for the group.

“Allow me it’s the least I could do for you. Farewell my friends.” Said the dragon serpent as they all crossed over the river as they continued down the path, but not before Dayman waves goodbye at the dragon before catching up with the girls.

They soon found themselves finally close to the helmet as Twilight is seen rushing toward the castle as Dayman and Applejack rush behind her. But as she got close, she had not noticed the bridge leading toward the castle was out as she manages to stop just as her hooves stopped near the edge of the cliff as the about to go forward until Dayman and Applejack grab her by the shirt and pulls her back.

“Whowie that was close.” Said Applejack as Dayman looks toward Twilight who was shaking a bit.

“Never rush in head on remember that for next time Twilight.” Said Dayman as the 3 sighed in relief as the other mares arrived as they noticed how the bridge was held on onside while the other half was dangling downward.

“So, what do we do now?” Asked Fluttershy as Rainbow clears motioning to her wings.

“Duh I will simply fly toward the loose rope and tie the bridge back in place.” She said before flying toward one end and tied the front of the bridge back in place before flying toward the other side.

It was then that the other side was obscured by a thick fog blocking their view of Rainbow.

“I have a bad feeling about this.” Said Dayman as a feeling of dread swept over him.

On the other side Rainbow was about to tie the other half of the bridge before she heard a sound from behind her.

“Rainbow Dash, we have been expecting you.” Said a female voice as Dash turns around in a defensive stance as 3 Pegasus’s appeared from the fog. Each of them was dressed on an attire like the wonder bolts only with a much more darker color scheme.

“Who are you guys?” asked Dash as the 3 Pegasus’s smiled at her.

“We are the shadow bolts and we have heard a lot about you Rainbow Dash. We have heard great things about you, how your speed rivals other Pegasus’s, your unique skills that make you above the rest. A perfect candidate for our group.” Said the 2nd shadow bolt as Rainbow became interested.

“You want me to join you guys?” she asked as they all nodded.

“We only recruit the best of the best and you Dash are the best. But this is a once in a lifetime opportunity so what do you say Dash ready to join the big leagues?” asked the 1st shadow bolt as he offers his hand to her.

“As much as I want to join you guys, I am currently busy helping my friends with stopping Nightmare Moon, so I am going to have to decline your offer.” She said as she turned away from her unaware that the shadow bolts had pulled out a dagger as the 2nd one was getting close to Rainbow Dash.

“You should have taken our offer.” She said lunging toward the rainbow haired mare only to be kicked to receive a flying kick to the face as Dayman arrives in the nick of time as he lands in front of Rainbow while the 2nd shadow bolt lays defeated on the ground.

“You alright Dash?” asked Dayman as Dash nods at him and points at the other 2 shadow bolts coming towards them.

“Look out!” she yells Dayman catches the 1st shadow bolts arm before judo flipping him to the ground and twisting the stallion’s arm as he drops his dagger before receiving 4 punches to the face.

Rainbow ducks avoiding the 3rd shadow bolts dagger before elbowing him in the gut followed by a right cross kick to the chest sending him toward a nearby boulder where he slams onto its side completely out cold.

Once the shadow bolts were delt with their bodies had then turn to smoke much to the human and mares surprise as they look toward each other.

“That was nice moves you got there.” Said Rainbow Dash sounding impressed.

“You’re not so bad yourself I am just glad I was able to make it in time. For you were taking too long we were worried that something had happened to you.” He said as Rainbow raised any eyebrow at him.

“Wait how did you get here? Wait don’t tell me you flew here?” she asked as Dayman shook his head.

“I ran along the rope of the bridge a skill I recently remembered when I sensed there was trouble nearby. What exactly happened?” He said though this made Rainbow curious but decided to just roll with it as she answered his question.

“These guys called the Shadow Bolts wanted to recruit me to their group, but I told them that I couldn’t since I needed to help the rest of you guys to stop Nightmare moon. Besides I never leave my friends hanging.” She said as Dayman smiles at her.

“Loyal to the very end. Which is to be expected to some pony as honorable as you.” He said winking at her which caused her to blush lightly before smirking at him as she manages to tie the last part of the bridge as she flies over to the others signaling them to cross the bridge.

Once that was done the group were now in front of the old castle for, they were about to face the might of the all-powerful Nightmare Moon. Its still unknown as to what waits for them within the castle, but they know one thing they have to get to the elements of harmony if they wish to stop this eternal night once and for all.
