Two Souls, One Ling

“ What happened to the sky?! “

“ Onyx, Chrysalis! “ Thorax warned, still running to Twilight’s Castle. Chrysalis followed behind, staring at the sky. How could ONYX do this? It seems like more of Discord’s shtick. Once they finally made it, they pushed through the doors, and found Twilight, Starlight, Trixie, and Spike all arguing with eachother? Spike and Trixie tried to keep some peace, while Twilight and Starlight were the ones being immature. Thorax growled, and trotted toward them.

“ Can YOU TWO SHUT UP, AND ACTUALLY BE MATURE MARES?! “ He yelled, waving his leg around in the air. Twilight just huffed at Starlight, and then turned away. Thorax sighed. Being angry was hard.

“ Ok. Something’s up with the sky, and Thorax thinks it’s this ‘ Onyx ‘ guy. “ Sugar explained. That’s when all the mares, and Spike, got a little nervous.

“ W-What do you mean the sky?.. “ Twilight asked.

“ You didn’t go outside at least ONCE?! “ When he said that, they all exchanged glances, but only managed to pull a nervous smile. Thorax groaned, and headed back to the front door. He pushed it open, and looked at the others. He motioned for them to follow, as he stepped outside. Once they all did, they all got surprised. The sky had gotten worse. The sun was completely gone through the black, threatening clouds. The actual sky was purple, and was infected with those hybrids.

“ W-What the.. “ Trixie mumbled, backing away. Thorax looked around, and saw something odd from a distance. What appeared to be..black smoke surrounding Canterlot, came into view. Thorax blinked, before turning to the others.

“ Onyx is in Canterlot. We need to do something! “ He warned, buzzing up into the air. He picked up Sugar, and Lucy.

“ Twilight, you get Starlight and Trixie. “ He pointed at the two unicorns still standing on the ground. Trixie has to force Starlight onto Twilight’s back. Once she finally got on, they headed off. They tried to go quickly, since there were most likely a thousand of these things, and they succeeded. They landed, and saw that Canterlot, was completely empty. Did they evacuate? Did they get captured? Died..? No, that’s impossible..but to Onyx, it wouldn’t be.

” ..The whole place. It’s just..gone. “ Chrysalis shivered a little. Thorax never really saw Chrysalis scared in a while. Not until he turned into “ It “, then this was the second time. He started looking around.

“ .. “ None of them said a word, in this...bleak town, that used to be Canterlot. Twilight was devastated. What happened to Celestia? Luna? She hurried up to be beside Thorax.

“ T-Thorax, what’ll happen to the Princesses?! “ She asked, getting really anxious. Thorax didn’t even think about them. What would happen?

“ ..I don’t know. But, we’ll find out, as soon as we find Onyx. “ He sped up, getting closer to the castle. Once they got inside, they came to a halt. The residents of Canterlot were all tied up, tape covering their mouths. They were scared, and some were crying. Thorax could’ve sworn he heard a muffled scream, that made him shiver. Why..? Was this...fun, for Onyx?

“ ..God.. “ Thorax muttered, the breeze blowing eerily. Chrysalis followed behind Thorax, who was trotting toward some of the victims. He untied one of them, allowing freedom for them. One mare got up, and frantically looked around.

“ Y-You can’t b-b-be here..! “ She warned. She was a lime green coated mare, with wings, and a light blue mane and tail. She looked about the same age as Lucy and Sugar.

“ Wait...Dew Swing? “ Lucy called out. Dew looked to Lucy and Sugar, and her eyes started to water. They all ran to eachother, forming a group hug. Chrysalis just blinked, not all too interested in this reunion. She just wanted to know what was going on, who the ponies are, and why they’re here.

“ Dew, w-we thought you died! “ Sugar spoke, a little teary eyed.

“ N-No, I’m ok. I’m so glad to see you— “

“ a-HEM. “ Thorax interrupted. The three mares turned to him, all with watery eyes.

“ ..As great as it is to you all have found eachother, can we PLEASE discuss what’s going on here?! “ He pointed to the now-wrecked Canterlot. They all blinked, but Dew stepped away from here friends, to explain.

“ ..Onyx Star, invaded hours ago. Him, and his army, quickly took out the guard’s here. “ Dew started to explain.

” As pitiful as always. Hah! “ Chrysalis rolled her eyes. Thorax glanced at her for a second, before looking back at Dew Swing.

“ Before long, he had already took everypony from here, to Ponyville captive. Some of the guards were injured, some killed. When Onyx met the Princesses, he thought he wouldn’t be strong enough...but he was. His Dark Magic, and execution of others, made him stronger. He took out Luna, then Celestia, and held them captive too. Now, he and his army take over the place.. “ She finished, looking down at the ground.

“ ...Dew, we are so sorry..for not doing anything sooner... “ Thorax apologized, trying to comfort the Pegasus. She nodded, and gently glanced at him.

“ ..You can do something..right? “ She asked, which he didn’t know. He had been brought down by Onyx before, and Chrysalis was really the one who saved Spike, and escaped from his shed of sorts, just inside of his body. He didn’t know how to answer, but with: “ ..We’ll try.. “. Dew nodded, and turned to her friends.

“ ..Be careful.. “ She warned. They both nodded. Lucy and Sugar hugged Dew one last time, before looking to Thorax.

“ ..What now? “ Sugar asked, seeing as he’s the one who met Onyx Star first. He blinked, thinking for a moment. He wanted to confront Onyx himself again, just to see what he turned into.

“ ..Ok. Twilight, Starlight, Trixie, Spike, you help untie the other ponies with Lucy and Sugar, and get them to a safe place. “

“ Wait..what about you? “ Spike asked, looking up at him. He looked at the castle real quick, before looking back at Spike.

“ I’m going to see Onyx. Haven’t seen THAT monster in a while... “ He hissed under his breath at the last seven words.

“ B-But what if you get hurt! Last time, you.. “ Spike worryingly said, remembering when Thorax came to save him, but Onyx toppled him so easily. He’s was afraid of losing his friend, like how he almost lost him last time, if it wasn’t for...Ultra? Who..who was Ultra, actually. He didn’t have to time to think about that yet.

“ Spike, I’ll be fine. You all just focus on getting the ponies away from this place. “ He said, before opening his elytra. He was about to fly off, before Spike stopped him real fast.

“ Please, Thorax. Be careful..he took out the Princesses, for Pete’s sake.. “ He warned, worried for his Changeling friend. The Changeling nodded, and patted Spike’s head gently, before flying off.

“ Let’s make sure we don’t get cornered by those hybrid things, ok? “ Chrysalis said, as she scanned the area like a hawk. Thorax nodded, wandering around the place, trying to find the throne room, where Onyx would most likely be. He had been a while since he had been here, so it took him a while to find the throne room. Once he did, he was shocked. The two Princesses, Luna, Celestia, were tied to the ceiling. Fear were in their eyes, but they couldn’t speak, since tape was on their mouths too! He tensed up, before flying up to help them. But, before he could even reach them...

“ Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. You again? What a surprise. “ Onyx said from below. Thorax turned, and scowled.

“ ..Why are you here, Onyx.. “ He asked, flying down to the ground. Onyx smirked.

“ Why should you know? It’s none of your concern. “

“ It WILL be, since you’re ‘ army ‘, is causing chaos to my friends’ and other ponies’ home! “ Thorax stepped forward, pointing out a dire situation that was caused by the pony standing in front of him.

“ Ugh, it’s always about FRIEND’S, isn’t it. That punt dragon would’ve been in my army as well, before YOU came, and snatched him, because he was ‘ your friend ‘. “ Onyx rolled his eyes, not caring about the other ponies out there.

“ Ok? Then explain what you’re doing to the Princesses! Why are they apart of this? “

“ They’re the leaders, Thorax!~ The ones with great power! I figured out a spell strong enough to defeat them, and fortunately for me, it worked! So now, I’M in control.. “ Onyx looked to the two sisters, and back to Thorax.

“ Let me guess...Dark Magic? “ Thorax teased.

“ No, you IMBECILE! “ He growled, rolling his eyes.

“ Then..how? What kind of magic— “

“ Well, that’s something for me to know, and for you to find out! Now, if you excuse me.. “ His horn glowed, sending some kind of signal. A wailing siren noise came from his horn, which sounded awful to Thorax.

“ W-What the— “ He heard faint noises from down the hallway. Thorax’s antlers glowed, backing up. A hoard of hybrids came in, hissing and growling.

“ ..What the.. “ Thorax mumbled, looking over at Onyx, who was smirking at him. Before they could get any closer, the Changeling immediately shot at the hoard, out of natural reactions at this point. Most of them went down, but the rest of them still stayed. The rest of them started to run at Thorax, the unicorns blasting beam toward him. He dodged, and started blasting his own beams at them, more and more of them going down. As this was going on, he noticed Onyx taking out a spell book, but from here..he couldn’t read it. He watched as the unicorn read it, but still kept his focus on the hybrids. One managed to leap on his back, biting at his antler, which kinda hurt? But more, and more of them hopped on him, and he soon got backed into a corner.

“ Oh god.. “ He muttered to himself, trying to get the ones on him, off. He made a green aura around him, pushing the hybrids away as it forced them off himself.

“ Onyx? “ He watched, as the hybrids banged on the green shield. Was he just..reading the spell book? Is that what he had come to? He wasn’t as..threatening as before, but it seemed like the hybrids did everything for him. After a moment of the hybrids trying to get through the shield, and Chrysalis teasing them, Onyx stopped reading the book, and sent another signal. The hybrids backed off, as Onyx started toward the shield.

“ ..What are you doing in there, huh? Cowardly move, you know? “ Onyx teased, looking at the Changeling. Thorax just glared at him, before dropping the shield, and blasting at him. Onyx shot into a wall, before hitting the ground. He got up, and shot back at Thorax. He missed, and it went through the gap between his two antlers.

“ What? Is that all you got? “ Thorax snickered, vines growing from the ground, and grabbing the unicorn. This was way easier than before! The guy must be slacking from capturing the entire town, and Canterlot, AND the Princesses. The vines threw him into another wall, and this went one for a few seconds, before Thorax stopped, losing energy. As Onyx layed on the floor, Thorax stumbled toward him, only to stop, shaking a bit. Why was he so tired? Was it for fighting the hybrids? Was it something else? Everything started blurring again, just like his fist moments of this. He didn’t notice Onyx get up, and his horn glowing.

Next thing he knew. Everything went black.
