Two Souls, One Ling

A loud scream echoed. Thorax shot up, and looked around. He jumped up, and looked around frantically, confused and surprised. What’s going on?! Is Onyx around?! He ran outside, to see a hybrid trying to capture one of the drones. Thorax gasped, and ran toward it. His antlers glowed, shooting at the creature, causing it to fly off. The drone was free from the creature’s grasp. Thorax looked around, as there were more hybrids around, trying to snatch drones. He tried stopping all of them, and he pretty much succeeded. But, he saw one fly in a certain direction, with Ocellus in hooves. He gasped, noticing the scared, female youngling.

“ No! “ He exclaimed, flying toward it at full speed. The other drones watched in fear, as the leader went to free Ocellus. He tried shooting at it, but the hybrid dodged every single blast. Thorax flew closer, and grabbed the mangled hybrid, as it hissed, and growled. He couldn’t use vines, as he hasn’t gained the ability to make them go super high up, and it kept dodging his blasts. He pulled at the creature, with all of his might, as much as he had anyways. It was the middle of the night, very late. After a struggle, he managed to get the hybrid off of the youngling. It hissed and flew off, as well as the others. Thorax grabbed Ocellus, and flew back down into the Hive.

“ Ocellus, are you ok? “ He asked, checking for any damage. Ocellus shook her head, still shaky from that experience. All she could do, was hug the king. She teared up, utterly scared. Thorax tried to comfort her, as all of the other drones surrounded him. He looked at all of them, wondering if they had any questions. After a minute, Pharynx stepped into the crowd.

“ What happened?.. “ He asked. Thorax just looked at him, confused.

“ Weren’t you WATCHING?! A couple of intruders invaded the Hive, and almost tried to steal some of our drones, INCLUDING Ocellus! “ He pointed to the distressed Changeling. Pharynx stepped back, glancing around.

“ Where? “

“ THEY JUST LEFT!! ARE YOU BLIND RIGHT NOW?! “ He yelled. Pharynx stepped back a bit more, looking at the crowd of Changelings, all of them filled with nervousness.

“ W-Well...who do you think.. “ Pharynx asked, before a vine wrapped around his legs. He shivered. Thorax let Ocellus return to her parents, before leaning in toward Pharynx.

“ This, was an invasion that I-I can’t really explain, but next time... “ Another vine softly wrapped around Pharynx’s neck.

“ Be. More alert. “ He hissed, softly, before the vines sunk back into the ground. Thorax stepped back, lifting his head, and sighed. He flew away from the crowd, before one drone followed him.

“ Y-Your majesty! Your brother asked you a question. Who do you think did this? “ They asked. Thorax winced, before sighing. He turned to the drone, and flew down. He sat down on the ground, and motioned the crowd over to him.

“ ...There’s this..pony named Onyx Star. A male unicorn with no other to desire then to make an army out of our own. He...He kidnaps ponies and other drones..a-and.. “ He could barely speak, as the other Changeling’s listened in, getting worried. Thorax gulped, and sighed.

“ He....kills...other ponies and drones..for his own desire..to make a mangled, messed up army.. “ The Changeling’s looked to eachother, exchanging looks of fear. Thorax struggled to continue.

“ After he murders, he takes parts of them...a-and....p-puts them together, making a different creature.. “ He holds up his hooves, and pushes them together. The Changeling’s hold eachother close, not wanting any of them to be taken.

“ ..I-I also have..a question for all of you. I-I want to know...if you think you’ve seen any drones that have...r-recently went missing.. “ Thorax’s voice shook at the sentence. The Changeling’s looked around to eachother, and most of them had similar seeings. One said that they saw one get pulled to the side, and never came back. Another said that they were waiting to go to arts and crafts with them, and when they went to look for them, they only found a piece of their elytra on the ground.

They all had different views, but still the same kidnapping. Thorax felt himself shiver, and start to crumble. He sniffed, before hanging his head down. The Changeling’s looked to him, and gasped softly. They came closer to him, trying to see what’s wrong.

“ I-I just...I-I don’t..want to lose... “ Thorax muttered, shaking. The other Changeling’s looked to eachother, worryingly. One drone sat next to the king, and tried to comfort him. He sighed, shakily, and hugged the drone next to him. The drone didn’t mind, and hugged back. Ocellus, by her parents, wanted to go try and comfort Thorax too, but she was still in shock of what happened. She heard a drone coming through the crowd, holding a scroll.

“ Your majesty? I don’t mean to disturb you, but you have a letter.. “ They said, nervously. Thorax looked up, his eyes teared up. He wiped his eyes, and brought the scroll toward him. He opened it, and started reading it.

Dear Thorax,

PLEASE HELP!!

Your indangered friend, Twilight Sparkle.

Thorax felt his heart just plummet into his stomach. He stood up, and flew up into the air. The drones just watched him fly off, worried. Ocellus took a chance, and oddly, followed him. Thorax noticed, and stopped.

“ W-Where are you going? You have to stay here. “ He said, trying to keep Ocellus down in the Hive, as he kept flying. Ocellus didn’t stop, and kept following.

“ Thorax, my friends might be in danger too! “

“ But YOU were just in danger! That hybrid could’ve actually caught you, and killed you!.. “ He said, tearing up again. Ocellus went silent for a moment, before saying.

“ Please, Thorax! I want to know if my friends are ok, they’re still in Ponyville! You’re going to help your friend, right? “

“ W-Well..yes, but—you don’t know what your getting yourself into! “ He stuttered, teary eyed. If Ocellus were to come, Thorax would keep her by his side, the whole time.

“ Thorax, please...I’ll be ok.. “ She pleaded, leaving Thorax with teary eyes for a moment, small droplets of tears going down his chitin. He sighs, and holds her close.

“ ...As long if you stay around me, or any other adult, you can come. I don’t want you getting hurt.. “ He said, shakily. Ocellus smiled and hugged him. Thorax hugged back, as he went out of reality for a second, as he didn’t notice Chrysalis next to him, saying..

“ Let’s see how this goes.. “
