Fallout Equestria: Half Breeds
Chapter 29: Underlying Readings
Previous ChapterNext ChapterBlitz began to tell the entire thing to the rest of the group, starting with the original way that he had me the spirit that he called; ‘The Demon’:
Blitz raced towards the sewer entrance, before slowing down for no reason, other than to spectate something that was going on in front of him. There was something that seemed to be blocking him from being able to move forwards, which worried him a little bit, due to those Steel Rangers probably being able to survive anything, even their own artillery barrage. Blitz took a quick look back and got spooked by something that appeared behind him, making him scream, before pushing against the magical force, moving it with all of his strength that he still had left.
“Do not be alarmed, my friend. I have something to tell you about. It might baffle your mind, but I have been following you and I need to make sure that this sticks inside your head, alright?” the figure asked, getting a swift and silent nod from the scared Blitz. “So, the reason that I came to you is because you could probably understand all of this, due to you living before the war and having an open mind to everything. Am I right about that, Blitz, or should I call you Soul Eater?” the ghostly illusion added, seeming a little familiar with his form. The form reminded him of the stories that he got told about as a colt, which made him a little curious as to what the thing was.
“Are you a demon of some sort?” Blitz asked, being a little too confused for him to understand all of this. The thing tilted its head, not really sure if it was or wasn’t a demon of sorts. It came to the conclusion that it was indeed a demon, but there was something that Blitz saw within the demon’s eye, something that suggested that it wanted to help the world for what was left to fight over.
“This might make a little more sense to you, but do you remember the stories that your mother probably would have told you, ones about Nightmare Moon?” the demon asked, waiting for clarification so that he was not wasting his time on a pony that didn’t know anything. Blitz thought about it for a second, before one of the books from his childhood came to his mind, slapping him in the head, like a book. He nodded back to the demon, still a little bit confused as to what he was. “Well, I am one of those demons or spirits that were crazy about controlling ponies and what not, but since the bombs fell and all of the megaspells went off, I have seen a world that I would not even want to live in. Despite me being evil, I still have a heart for the old world. I don’t want to be evil anymore, but all of my family and other spirits all want to be evil and…” the demon said, getting a little frustrated, before getting cut off by Blitz.
“... so don’t follow the trend. Just because others want to be bad still, doesn’t mean that you have to. You have the power to change the world, especially with your insider knowledge of Pre-War Equestria. You can help me with my goals if you so please.” Blitz stated out in confidence, which made the spirit remember something that would eventually happen, due to Blitz being from the times before Equestria was hit by a couple of big spells.
“There is going to be something that will happen in the future, I know it. A spirit like me will try to make a deal with you. When he does make that offer for you, accept it so that he is bound to you for a little while, but give him the response of not knowing who or what I am, due to him knowing about me. If he does find out, he will try to corrupt you, as opposed to marinating you, like he would any other sentient being.” the demon stated, making sure that Blitz knew about what was going on. Blitz nodded, before thinking about something.
“Why don’t we just clear my memory of all of this, before anything messes this up? That way, when you meet me, you can just tap the memory orb against my head and I shall instantly remember you.” Blitz suggested, making the spirit nod in approval, due to it actually being a good plan for the two of them. Blitz saw a bright light, before he couldn’t remember what was happening to him. He shook his head, before moving on, trying to make his way back to the settlement.
As Blitz was telling his story to all, something moved out of the corner of his eye, making him pause, as he tried to transition to the part that he just been through not too long before he came to help them with Shifty. Shifty moved over, allowing Blitz to get over and walk to Azure, who was looked over at something through the gate, Blitz grabbed Azure and pulled him around, trying make him feel better by hugging him, which worked a little bit to bring the pegasus’ mood up, making him return to the group, before making him sit next to him, allowing Azure to rest his head on Blitz’s shoulder, as he got into his groove again.
Blitz got to the part within the sewer, before telling them about what happened when he left their little group in the sewer passage, tunnel, system, whatever they called it down there. Blitz made them picture it;
Blitz climbed down the ladder, feeling his body tense up, before surges of energy passed through his body causally, making him believe that the area was heavily irradiated, which was something that he didn't know about, due to him not being there with Azure to spot that a hell of a lot of radiation was coming out of the other entrance, suggesting that the place within the ground was a sitting hazard, making Blitz worry a little about what he was going to find below the surface. He had to walk down a long corridor, which was not something that he wanted to do. He galloped down the corridor, his body melting as he got closer to the source, almost like the radiation was giving him too much of itself to him, making his form change. Blitz used his magic to reconstruct himself, still sprinting forward at lightning fast speed, before he knocked a fan out of the way, a big fan. It was a huge industrial one, which was not very sturdy. Blitz fell over with it, before trying to pick himself up, which he found difficult, due to his skin next to his chitin melting, but strangely not being painful, making Blitz worry.
“You made it down here!” a voice called out, making Blitz look directly at the source of it, being the same spirit that Death was, but being white. Blitz pointed his weapon at the demon, before it rolled its eyes at Blitz, making him a little confused. “Blitz, just watch this so that we can get back to it, now that Death is gone!” the spirit said, before chucking the orb at Blitz, making him catch it with his magic, looking over to the spirit after, being really confused as to what was going on. Blitz looked down at the orb, before lying down and looking over the spirit, who was keeping watch for anypony else coming down. The spirit waited patiently for Blitz to have seen the memory orb, probably being a little bit more confused than he could have imagined, but that would have been better than him going full feral mode on the demon, making every last attempt count towards ending it.
After a short while, Blitz regained his composure and looked around, seeing that the spirit was still there, watching over him just like his mother would have if she was around. The spirit noticed that Blitz was speaking about his mother within his head, making him want to prove something to him.
“Blitz, how much do you know Anti?” the ghostly figure asked, getting a confused look. He pondered the thought for a moment, before looking around and trying to think of something that would make him understand Anti just that little bit more. “What if somepony got transferred into something else and has been trying to tell you ever since?” the ghost explained, stating it as a question to only make him think, which made the gears turn within the little bug’s head.
“I know Anti a little bit, but not too much i’m assuming, due to Anti not really sitting down with me at all, making me believe that she likes to always be in motion, just like my mother.” Blitz stated, looking around for a timberwolf but not able to see her. She appeared behind him, sitting down and resting her head on the ground next to Blitz, making Blitz use his hoof to pet her, making her feel a little better.
“What if I told you that Death turned somepony that you thought was dead into the timberwolf that you are petting? Somepony who couldn’t have died in a worse way.” the spirit suggested, making Blitz look at Anti with sorry eyes, making Anti look up to him, with her… strangely familiar eyes. It was almost like he had not seen those eyes in a while, due to those being his… “Yep, Blitz, meet Shadow, your mother! Death corrupted your amulet and made Shadow into a timberwolf to hide the fact that she knew that he was using you.” the ghastly figure stated, making Blitz look into Anti’s… no, Shadow’s eyes and smile, before Blitz gave Shadow a hug, getting him to receive a fair amount of licks from a wooden tongue, making him chuckle a little.
“Thank you friend, what do I call you?” Blitz thanked and asked, looking up to the figure that was before him, making him ponder a name for himself. Death was used for his brother, so the only thing that he could think of, was also what he actually wanted.
“How about Life?” the demon suggested, making Blitz nod immediately.
“Life it is, nice to meet you!” Blitz stated, laughing for a little bit, before looking around, remembering that they were all within a huge complex and was in one of the main control rooms for the underground facility. Blitz looked around and saw that there were a couple of ways to go, opting to go to the one on the right of them, but before they all did that, they walked towards one of the windows that overlooked the entire area, being some sort of huge warehouse more than a facility, due to all of the boxes that were neatly stacked on top of one another, making Blitz realise that this area that they were at was being used, for something, making them all want to investigate it out.
It was weird enough with the big fans covering the entrances, and could see all of the different ones. Blitz understood that they were being pretty smart about it, due to them using the fans to distribute all of the radiation that they didn’t have a use for, so it would kill anything that could have come through the entrances by using the fans. It was a pretty good idea, but one that was a little weird to explain, due to how the fans blew the radiation. Shadow looked over the entire site and then walked over to a door, before entering in a code that she saw, opening the door to somepony’s office.
“Yep, definitely my mother!” Blitz exerted, making Life chuckle a little, before they all entered the room to see some plans on a table. The plans were of bombs, balefire bombs, something which would have knocked Equestria off the map a million times over. If they were building balefire bombs in the facility, then the world would cease to exist. They all looked at each other, before taking the plans a putting them into Blitz’s saddlebag, which was looking a little bit worse for wear, due to the fact that it had melted a little, like the rest of him did, removing most of his skin and leaving nothing but bone, which was a bad then. Blitz was only confused on why nothing was hurting, because it should definitely have hurt loving all of the soft skin that he had. Originally, Blitz thought that the chitin was held together by the skin, but he was wrong. His chitin was part of his bones, making him rethink changeling anatomy, which was something that still confused him a little bit, due to their exoskeleton being thinner than it should have been for a creature of their size. No reason why changelings couldn’t be tall, but they weren't; they were all smaller than normal ponies, apart from the queen, which would have been the same size as the alicorns in Equestria.
Blitz shook his head, daydreaming for a little bit too long, before he looked around within the office, seeing that there were some filing cabinets that he could check through for some notes. There were messages of all kinds in the cabinet, some ranging from simple letters too and from ponies, but others included checks that were of a bigger amount of bits, which during the time that they were in, were completely useless, due to their money being in the form of bottle caps. Blitz noticed that Life went over to the balcony and looked over the entire room, looking like some sort of central hub for the ponies who used it before them. It was an amazing area, but there were some aspects that lacked in different places, due to Blitz being a little bit picky with how he had things, rather than how others had things.
Blitz found some sort of key within the cabinet, before seeing it fall down, making a loud noise. If there was anypony within the area, they would have surely heard the noise that came from their direction. Blitz moved away from it, keeping the key within his magic and watched as it glowed a little bit, making Blitz not really sure if it was the key that was glowing or was him glowing, seeing his reflection in the key. Blitz looked around the office, before noticing that there must have been a safe around the room somewhere, due to the fact that the pony wouldn’t have had a key within his area for no reason, right? Blitz carefully looked around, spotting something that could have suggested that there was something secret within the room, due to it being an image behind the desk. The photo was of some sort of mare, towering above all of the rest of the ponies, looking to be some sort of alicorn, but with holes in its body, suggesting that it was probably some sort of changeling queen, which seemed pretty likely, due to the way the hierarchy used to work within the hive when he was really really young, like a little, little bug young.
Blitz moved the image with his magic and revealed a little safe in the wall, which made Blitz smile, due to how iconic it was for there to be an image of some sort blocking the treasure behind. It was ironic, but laughable, as Blitz used the key to open the safe, getting both the attention of Shadow and Life. They both stood by the door, before seeing the safe door fly open, revealing a book of sorts. It was a spell book, a very advanced spellbook, making him want to see what spells he could obtain from the book, which was a lot of spells, due to his magic already being good, but the book would allow him to go past his maximum potential.
Blitz looked at a couple of pages, skimming over them and then putting the book within his melted saddlebag, saving it for his next length of freetime that he would have got. He walked out of the room and looked over the balcony, seeing that there was definitely a drop below, but not thinking about what was down there. Instead, they looked at the other door, seeing that it was just a normal door, starting their journey into the facility. They opened each door quietly, knowing that something was definitely going to be within the area that they were in, they were only going to meet it soon, that was for sure. They walked down the corridor, before coming two an area that they didn’t like too much, which was the way down. They could have chosen the elevator or they could have chosen the stairs. Blitz instantly went to the stairs, before getting dragged into the elevator by Shadow, making the timberwolf cackle loudly, before the doors shut loudly, making them all go silent.
There was some elevator music playing in the background, making them all tap their hoof in rapid succession, making them all get along more and more. They were only there to look around and see what it was that was setting off so much of that radiation at the entrance. The doors slowly opened, before they paused to see some ghouls working around the facility, meaning that it was active, not an alive group though. Blitz got spotted by one of the ponies there and wore a smile. The ghoul smiled back, before approaching him, making him question why they weren’t attacking them. The ghoul looked at the irradiated bug, before circling him and then going back to his original position, before looking over to one of his colleagues. They both looked at Blitz and Shadow and smiled.
“Umm, hi. What do you ponies do here? Just having a little look around, no intention to harm anypony, unless provoked!” Blitz asked, before following it up with something that made them smile. They looked happily at Blitz and Shadow, before one of them cleared their throat by coughing, making Blitz recoil, due to having scepticism when around new ponies and creatures.
“As long as you do not get in the way of our research efforts, then we will have no problems. Wait a minute, how did you get in, did Sawtooth send you?” One of them stated, before asking a question that they didn’t expect. Blitz nodded, making the same one who had asked the question a little bit more sceptical about them being there. Let me go and contact him, just to confirm it. Blitz summoned a gas bomb, not being in control of his body at all, hating the feeling. Life controlled Blitz’s body only for the spell to be used, but Blitz didn’t like losing control of his body, making him a little bit more paranoid.
“Sorry, but I had to ensure that nothing bad was going to happen!” Life explained, saying sorry, which Blitz didn't expect from him, due to the nature of his past. Blitz looked back to the gas that his horn had just produced, knocking out the entire room, but the three of them, which made Blitz laugh a tiny bit, due to Life really stating what he was trying to do. He was avoiding killing, making him remind Blitz of the medical pony that he had a strong bond with. Blitz watched as they were all on the floor, almost looking as if they were lifeless. He wanted to avoid killing, due to him wanting to save most of the ponies in the Wasteland. There were going to be some ponies that they would have had to end the suffering of, but that was only the ones that stood in the way of Blitz’s mission to make Equestria the place it was before the war.
Blit stepped past all of the bodies and made his way to the opposite side of the room, right next to one of the only rooms that connected to the one that they were in. Blitz pulled out his weapons, opting for a pistol of some kind, before realising that it wasn’t suppressed, making him want to place it back in his saddlebag, before Life teleported a sight to him, as well as a suppressor, making him a little sceptical about taking it, before Life force it onto the pistol, screwing on the suppressor and sliding on the sight for the pistol.
“That suppressor is enchanted with a noise dampening spell, making all of the shots muffled, so it is nearly silent.” Life stated, before looking around the corners of the door, seeing that there was definitely some action going on in the next room. Blitz closed the door and then looked at the other two, before looking over to one of the bodies, knowing what he could do to allow him and the other two to get past the ponies on the opposite side of the door. Blitz changed into one of the scientists who were laying on the floor, passed out from the gas that Life had hit them with. Blitz summoned a lead for Anti, making a weird greenish brown blush appear on her, making Blitz feel slightly awkward about putting a lead on his mother.
“Not like that!” Blitz whispered to her, making Life chuckle a little bit before peeking through the door, being a ghostly figure allowed him to do such things without being noticed at all, because the only ponies that could see him, were Shadow and Blitz. Blitz wore a serious face, before tying the lead around one of the twigs that made up her neck, allowing Blitz to walk Shadow like she was a pet. Eww, get that image out of your head, reader! Blitz opened the door to see a corridor with two guards on either side, seeing the professor and not batting an eyelid at him, until they looked straight at each other and saw Shadow, being a little confused as to what happened with her ending up in the science department. Blitz turned around and looked at the guards, before walking back to them, still being in the form of the professor that he had knocked out.
“Umm, why is there a timberwolf with you, Professor?” one of the guards asked, becoming a little bit confused as to why or even how it managed to happen. Blitz froze for a second, before sighing.
“As I was working on an improvement for the bombs that we have stored here, I stumbled across something that I had a little look at. By mixing a couple of potions that we already had, as well as using a specific amount of magic to blend the mixture to a perfect viscosity, I should have been able to make a potion the we could have rubbed on the bombs that would allow for the metal to absorb the mixture and make the radius of the bombs about twenty five percent larger, which for the amount of effort it took, is probably not worth it at the end of the day, but I guess it is new research. As I was creating the second batch, something went wrong and this… thing… was created and has apparently grown attached to me. It grew up fast mind you, so that might be something that the boss might want to hear about.” Blitz stated, not pausing once, due to the speaking ability he had. One of the guards chuckled, before slowly going to pet Shadow, making her growl at him, making him snap back to reality of him nearly losing a hoof to a timberwolf.
The guard just looked at each other and nodded, before walking down the hall just a little, getting a little bit bothered by the fact that the timberwolf was connected to the professor so much, they walked to the end and opened the door for Blitz, Shadow and Life. Life thought about something and that idea ran through Blitz’s head as well, making him nod slightly, being seen by Life, as he gave Blitz some more magic, and then some more. He was leaking him some magic, so that he would get done what he needed to get done. Blitz saw that there were a lot of ponies working on this place, but he didn’t really want to hurt them, due to the thoughts that were going through his head. Shadow disappeared, making Blitz question where she went, but what he didn’t realise was that she was still there. Life had just made her invisible from his end, allowing Shadow to get some ponies who were able to catch Blitz, without being seen.
Blitz walked over to one of the side wings, seeing that they were being under heavy watch. One of the guards instantly looked at Blitz and then aimed his gun at him, making Blitz walk back, before using his magic to kill the other two guards without the pony noticing. Shadow pushed the guard into Blitz, knocking them into a room together, before he started to scream, being muffled by a hoof that Blitz placed on his mouth, as Shadow tore the back of his throat out. He went silent shortly after, making them both sigh, before getting away from the body and then walking around with it, finding some place for it to be stored. Blitz hid him underneath one of the desks that were in the room, before teleporting the other two bodies to the same location, making him hide them under the desk, keeping them out of sight.
Blitz exited the room, before he saw another way that he could easily wipe out the entire facility, but it was going to be very, very risky. Blitz noticed one pony on the balcony above, seeing that he was talking to some mare about something. It didn’t matter what he was doing, but it did matter who he was. He was some sort of general within the ranks of the others here, due to him wearing some sort of special guards outfit, being the perfect distraction that Blitz needed. With a little bit of magic and a swift and silent yank, Blitz used his magic to pull the stallion backwards over the balcony, using magic to allow the unicorn to not use any spells. Blitz watched as the unicorn fell, landing on his head and breaking his neck in the process, killing him in the process, allowing ponies to gather around him. Blitz raced over to him, before looking over the body while the others watched in disbelief. Blitz slowly backed up allowing the others to get closer to the body. Blitz saw ponies overlooking the balconies that were around him, getting out his pistol, which was now invisible, and shooting the ponies that were overlooking, making some of them fall down too, creating a loud thud on the opposite side of the huge room.
All of the ponies above were dead, which made the ponies and stallions in front of Blitz become the only ones left. Blitz took out a mine, an anti tank mine that he had found on his journeys back to Journey and threw it on the body of the unicorn who had fallen down, making all of the others look at him slowly, seeing that he was laughing.
“You all chose to kill off Equestria, so since I'm against that, I shall kill off you!” Blitz stated in a low bellow, allowing all of those ponies to regret their choices to destroy Equestria. Blitz shot the mine and teleported back, making the ponies there turn to some sort of paste, which did not look good. Blitz shielded his eyes from the blast, before noticing the cruel pony that he was, but he didn’t care about what happened to him, he only cared about the future of others, his friends, his family. Nothing was more important than their survival, nothing!
Blitz could hear the alarm bells ring, signalling that something was wrong, making him stress a little bit, due to the pitch of it. The one in the room that they were in was loud, making Blitz cover his ears a little, before shooting the alarm, making it go silent again, but hearing the bell in the other rooms. The two guards came into the room, guns pointed at Blitz, before their heads started to make them see things that weren't real, due to Blitz using his magic to send a concussion spell into their heads, making them see multiple of Blitz’s form. He turned around, bloodlust in his eyes, as they tried to aim their weapons at him, failing in the process and dropping to the floor. Blitz’s own head started to hurt, making him feel a little light headed, before he wobbled his way over to the two guards, seeing that they were fitting on the flood, due to the concussion that they were having. Blitz took out a sword made of pure magic, before stabbing the guards with the pointy end of the sword, allowing his sword entry like butter.
Blitz sat down after that, seeing that something was wrong with him, making him look at his hooves, before seeing that they were swaying from side to side. There was something within the air, something that was making him feel light headed and something that reduced the oxygen within the area. Life kept Blitz up, using a spell so that Blitz could breath fresh air, which immediately made him get right back to his original self. It looked like Blitz was wearing a rebreather, but it was shrouded in magic, looking really cool for some reason. Blitz knew that at the least, that they were draining the oxygen to make Blitz fall to the floor, which now was a little useless against him. Blitz got up and stood strong, before walking to one of the other entrances and seeing that the doors were locked tight, making Blitz try to use his magic to unlock them, but to no avail.
Liquid radiation leaked into the room, making Blitz chuckle madly, before seeing the camera that was observing him within the room. He looked directly at it, before he took a shot at it, seeing that it was protected by some kind of magic spell. Blitz took his pistol and shot at it, making the bullet bounce off into the wall, seeing that it was a projectile blocking spell, which made him chuckle, before going up to it and flying into it, breaking it in an instant. Blitz used a knife to cut it off the wall, before seeing it go into the liquid radiation and melting before his eyes.
Blitz waited till the radiation liquid was about half way up the lower room, being still on the first floor, before diving in and charging himself against the door that he had tried to open originally. He rammed against it, breaking it off its hinges, watching as it fell to the floor and the radiation came flooding into the camera room, shocking all of the radiation and breaking all of the camera equipment that was stored in the one room. Blitz watched as the pony tried to take out his gun, but was already melting, Blitz feeling somewhat bad about how painful it must have been to turn into liquid like that, but he didn’t know, due to him being a prewar changeling, something that had dealt with the radiation for years upon years, upon years.
Blitz swam out of the camera room and headed to a place called the main reactor, which definitely wasn't obvious as to what it was. Blitz felt like he was supercharged, before he concentrated all of his magic into becoming an orb, before lobbing it at the door, seeing it all melt as it knocked into the door, melting the door and leaving a metal liquid on the floor in its place. Blitz noticed that the radiation was starting to slow down, making Blitz wonder if it would ever enter the reactor room, which made him happy that it didn’t as of right yet, due to one of the reactor fluids being able to be mixed with radiation to create a megaspell, which was not good, not good at all. Blitz knew this because of some of the notes that were on the table beside the reactor. Blitz looked over to where the camera room was, which was fully submerged beneath him at that point, due to the radiation that they forced into the area.Blitz knew that eventually he would come face to face with one of the leaders down in the place that he was, but it would only be in due time, due to what the situation was right there and then, with all of the radiation leaking out of the places that it was meant to be. Blitz was pretty sure that they cut off the amount coming in, due to the liquid stopping at the second floor.
Blitz took a look around and saw that there was another corridor leading to another part of the facility, making him want to go exploring. He dived back in and swam about a little, before plowing into the main door with a loud ‘thud’ coming from both him and the door, watching as the door slowly fell to the ground, making him chuckle to himself. Shadow was not in her physical timberwolf form, instead opting to stay around Blitz’s neck. Blitz began to realise something as he moved forward. If the necklace was only made of gold, then why was it not melting? Blitz thought that it had something to do with Death, which was most likely why. That or Shadow’s soul was protecting it from being destroyed.
Blitz focused on swimming through the radiation, keeping his eyes out of anything that might have made sense for him to enter into. He saw the canteen, but there was nothing that was going to be important within there. The radiation was making him a little light headed, due to all of the magic within him overwhelming him and getting to his head, making him feel like he was going to pass out. Blitz used as much magic as he could, before he noticed that there was a second floor to another area that he was coming closer to, making him feel like it was worth investigating, so he did exactly that, forcing himself to swim upwards and out of the radiation.
Blitz’s mind was immediately cleared as soon as he got out of the liquid, making his vision as well as his mindset come back to him. He wanted to explore the area as much as he could and now knew that the ponies down here was working of all of the three bad factions of the world, so Blitz knew exactly how to act against ponies that got in the way of making something better, but didn’t that make him the same as the raiders, scavengers or the slavers? Yeah, it did, due to him being like he was, but accepting that he could only cause so much good in the world, before the bad would come along and ruin most of his time. Blitz took out his pistol before spotting another camera, before pulling it off the wall again and then tossing it into the radiation, watching as the metal and the components melted down, knowing that the liquid was somewhat filled with bodies and blood and death. It didn’t sit right with him, not one bit.
Blitz walked around the area, before noticing that the radiation levels were rising again, making Blitz realise something. They were raising the levels to blow the reactor and to make the entire place go boom from the underground, making Blitz have to act fast. The levels were being flooded very slowly, but Blitz knew that it was going to be a problem real fast, due to the fact that he had kept the door open, not being able to block the flow of liquid to the reactor, making him need to work quickly to ensure that nopony was going to be able to escape the nightmare situation that was playing out within his hooves.
There were a couple more rooms that Blitz was able to explore above the radiation, making him want to do so, so he did exactly that, blowing down both sets of doors with his magic, before seeing the radiation leak into the rooms, making him chuckle to himself. Blitz was not one to go on a rampage, but they were trying to stop everything that he was trying to do, making him want to direct his revenge not only to them, but to Sawtooth and the others too. Blitz walked around in one of the rooms and was surprised to see that nopony were in the room, due to it being the storage room and not a place that somepony would want to hide within, unless it was their final option.
Blitz turned and was greeted by a couple of ponies aiming weapons at him, seeing that the other room that he had opened was the armoury, making it pretty obvious why ponies didn’t go into the storage room. They made Blitz slowly walk backwards, making him get closer and closer to the edge, very eager to shoot the giant bug within the head, getting rid of the pest that had caused them so many problems on that very day. Blitz cooperated for the most part, before chuckling to himself, making them all seem a little bit on edge. One of them had the guts to aim their weapon at him, before shooting, seeing that it had done nothing. He didn’t even put up a spell, noticing that the radiation had pretty much eaten the bullet, making Blitz feel ever more confident with his actions, before using his magic to pull the armed ponies into the acidic radiation with him, them all struggling against his grasp, before screaming and plunging into the drink. Blitz looked over to them, before seeing them melt before his eyes, like sugar in a hot beverage.
Blitz felt a little bit sick watching their bodies dissolve, but there was something about it that felt like Blitz had done some good, even if he hadn’t at all. Blitz got out of the liquid, before going straight for the armoury and stocking up on the guns and ammo that he could, seeing that there was a huge variety of them. If they were going to be fighting a war, they at least should have come equipped with the right tools to fight them with. Blitz instantly teleported a sack to his side, before pretty much raiding the area for everything that it had, the radiation making everything easier to teleport around, due to him gaining magic from the radiation, especially due to it being up to his hooves already, wait… Blitz looked down at his hooves, before realising that he was running out of time. Blitz teleported a couple more sacks to the air in front of him, before placing all of the weapons in his saddlebag, before teleporting them away, looking back at the armoury as his nose started to bleed, due to the amount of magic that he had just used to teleport a huge load of weapons halfway across the Wasteland, meaning that it was going to be a cakewalk for him being able to get out of the area, due to him weighing significantly less than the item that he had just teleported.
Blitz looked over at the pool of slightly rising liquid, before plunging into it once more, seeing that his nosebleed disappeared within the radiation, due to it being washed off his body, pretty much cleaning him and making him fuel up with magic again. Blitz noticed a door that was closed and locked off from the outside world, or inside world, due to them being within a facility, making him laugh at one of his own jokes. Blitz pushed against the door, before realising that the area was stuck, making him want to use the radiation to his advantage, allowing him to conjure up a massive ball of magic at little to no cost of his own magic, making him chuckle to himself quietly, living in a world where his own amusement was very funny to him. Blitz let go of the massive energy ball, before pushing it hard against the door, knocking it down and seeing a pony place a shield up, making Blitz chuckle. The only reason that he was doing that was to stop the radiation entering the room and killing them all, seeing that they were all mocking him from the safety of the shield.
Blitz smiled back at them, before hearing an alarm go off, signalling that something big was about to happen soon. There was a message that was telling all of the ponies and stallions to exit the building, knowing that something big and bad was about to happen. The ponies within were bound to be vaporized one way or another, due to them being trapped within the other camera room, there being about five ponies within the small room, seeing that a couple of them were still mocking him, while the others watched with smiles on their faces.
“Not now Blitz, we got something that we still gotta find, unless you come back here after the aftermath!” Life stated, making Blitz focus on the main task at hoof, the exact reason why he came down here in the first place. His main goal was to explore every room possible within the secret base, so that was going to be what he was going to do. He broke the door of the room, allowing them to not close it fully, before swimming up onto the second floor, seeing that there was a lot of liquid radiation that was already above the second floor, making it look almost like a river, before Blitz opened the final door with his magic, before seeing a very long corridor, feeling the radiation push his glowing self away from all of the carnage and destruction that was about to happen. Blitz sprinted down the corridor, before stopping at another door, this one being locked by some sort of hoof reader. Blitz changed into one of the ponies that he had just seen, making the hoof scanner work in his favour, allowing him access to the main hub of the facility.
Blitz could see a huge statue with Sawtooth written at the bottom of it, making him chuckle, due to him knowing that it was going to be getting destroyed very quickly. Blitz looked over to the side, to see some type of spellbook laying down on the side, spread open to the page that Sawtooth or somepony else was originally using, allowing him to grab the book before hearing a massive boom.
“Quick! Get into the radiation and read the eternal spell while we are teleporting!” Life quickly blurted out, before jumping into the radiation and getting teleported away, before being sucked into some kind of limbo, giving him time to breathe and most importantly, read the spell that Life wanted him to read, learning how to do it pretty quickly. “Activate it now and then charge into Shifty when you see him. Go horn first!” Life blurted out, before making Blitz confused.
“Wait what? Why?” Blitz questioned, getting a different look from the two souls that were looking at him.
“Because Shadow said that Shifty has been corrupted by Death! I’m going to let you take him out right this instant, so just do it!” Life angrily state, getting Blitz to cast the spell, before making it to the end of their little solo journey.
Blitz finished telling them his little story, before getting up and stretching, feeling a little bit tired after all of that talking, Life feeling the same. It helped that before Blitz got his magic back, Life cleared all of the radiation from his body as well, allowing him to focus on the better things that were going to be coming his way, along with the rest of his group’s way too. Death was now not an issue, which made Blitz’s mind get put to rest, but there was something that didn’t sit right with him. Was he really that easy to end the life of?
“Yes, yes he was Blitz. Don’t doubt yourself while you were in the form you originally were. You could even kill me like that, but please don’t.” Life explained, pointing a hoof at Blitz and giving him a scowl. Blitz tried to not think about it, trying to distract himself from the fact that it doubted Death’s ability, but if Life was right, then Death truly was gone, making Blitz a little bit stumped, not knowing what to do next. “Now Blitz, you relax and have a day or two with doing what you want to do, or spend it with your friends and family.” Life commanded him, making a smile come to Blitz’s face.
Blitz looked at the timberwolf that was looking at him from a distance, before he moved out of the group, slowly approaching the timberwolf, which got him thinking. He looked back at Azure before lifting the necklace over his head and over towards himself, taking off the other necklace for a couple of seconds, before placing the other one on and seeing his mother in the place of the timberwolf. Life used his magic on the amulet, much like Death did on the other amulet to allow the other ponies and creatures to see the timberwolf variant of Shadow. They all looked over at the two and smiled, seeing that they were finally able to spend some time together at long last.
Blitz began to run at his mother, a smile grazing his face as he got closer and closer, before Shadow started to do the same. Shadow was expecting to go running straight through Blitz, but there was contact again, something that she had not been able to feel for a long while, which made her feel really heavy as she fell over, right into Blitz’s warm embrace. Blitz began to tear up, making Shadow only hug him more and more. She tightened her grip on him, hugging him with everything that she could, before making her tear up. The other’s watched in absolute bliss, not wanting the moment between mother and son to end. Eventually though, it would, but it was better that way, rather than crying together, which was always not the answer to anything. They had to focus on more important things than crying, making them both stop tearing up and look at each other with huge smiles on their faces.
Shifty walked over to his grandmother, before she looked at him and placed him on her back with her magic, making Blitz chuckle.
“How are we doing now, Shifty? Are you feeling okay as of now?” Blitz asked, before getting a swift nod from the little bug who was relaxing with a gentle hug to his grandmother’s back, making her chuckle and blush a little bit. Blitz was pretty adamant that he was happy, so he left him to relax with his grandmother. The rest of the group started to chat to each other, before all of the other settlement dwellers came out, looking at all of the ponies that had returned. Azure was chatting to Zavier about his time around the raiders, while Roselight and Gretzky were talking to their loved ones about all that they had been doing, which must have excited both sides a lot.
Blitz climbed up onto the wall, before leaning over the side and relaxing a little bit, being able to finally rest after so long. Life was smiling at him, making Blitz a little bit nervous, due to the demon, or the helper smiling directly at him, like he was scheming something that would challenge Blitz’s mind and body. Life looked a little confused at Blitz when he heard Blitz’s thought and ramblings, making him chuckle to himself, still smiling in Blitz’s direction, making Blitz smile back in response. Life turned himself into a physical form, before teleporting a sword to Blitz’s side. Blitz looked down at the sword and picked it up with his magic, before Life turned around and sat down, not facing Blitz at all.
“You now have the chance to end my life if you so much wish. Take that sword that I gave you and smite me down like I am Sawtooth, if you so much as choose to do so.” Life stated, waiting for Blitz to do so. Blitz didn't do anything. Instead, Blitz decided to sit there and let Life think that Blitz was going to do something, before Blitz got tackled by Life, making him chuckle softly. “I know you don’t want to, but there is a time that you can do it, if you ever want to, because at least I would know that you would be able to complete your mission if you ever decided to end me.” Life stated, giving Blitz a hug, before teleporting down to the little crowd of ponies below Blitz, being a little distance from the gate that Blitz was on. Blitz looked over at the group, before trying to go over to them, before deciding that it would have been better for him just to relax and unwind, rather than bothering them with his matters. Blitz took a seat and then layed down, before looking at the area past the gate, him being the guard now, just like he had wanted to be before the bombs had dropped.
Blitz fell into a sleep that was a little too deep for his liking, almost like he was dragged into a world that was not his own, before coming to the conclusion that he had actually been dragged into a slumber, rather than him wanting to go into one, due to his tiredness. Blitz was nowhere, being in a dark area in time, due to there being nothing around but the darkness of his mind, which didn’t do anything to change the fact that he was pretty much thinking about nothing at that time, which didn’t help his mind to think about something at all. Words seemed to fly past him, being somewhat scary, due to words affecting his mental state, rather than being physical pain that could have been repaired over time. Mental pain was a lot worse, which was something that he needed to learn to overcomb, due it being his one biggest weakness, something which he was not exactly proud of, giving him a little bit of a chill, sending a haunting vibration down his back, making his chitin crawl.
Blitz opened his eyes and was definitely in another world, sending even more chills up his back and into his mind this time, hurting a little bit, due to the sheer quantity of vibrations affecting him. Blitz got onto his hooves and looked around, seeing that there were not many things in the world, due to the fact that the world was cut off from the rest of Equestria, making his dream almost turn into the nightmare. He took to the skies to see what was happening with the world, before all hell struck loose. As he hovered in the sky, bombs and spells went off everywhere, sending ponies and stallions into a panic, before the races slowly went their own ways. Pegusi being the more noticeable ones, due to them retreating to the clouds and shutting the rest of the world below out, making them have to come up with something for the plants and crops that they would eventually get back up and running. Blitz hated seeing stuff like that, but there was something that was off about all of it, making Blitz point it out to himself. The pegusi didn’t stop there, they made it rain a lot, making the ground that the earth ponies and the unicorns very wet and not making it a place that the ponies wanted to set up their farms, forcing them away.
Blitz felt like he was in a time before the war even happened, but as soon as the bombs fell, he could tell that the Wasteland was being created from the very view that he was seeing, the display that change Equestria for good, until something changed within his mind, the feeling of striding to make it what it once was again. Blitz looked around from his position in the sky and was instantly taken back by the amount of fighting that went on from both above and below the clouds. He looked down and saw the raiders growing as a faction, before everything was shut off, plunging Blitz’s vision into darkness.
Blitz’s mind placed him in his own scenario as a guard, before making everything feel like normal. He was wearing the original guard armour and uniform, making him look very stylish and powerful, which was not the thing that he wanted to look like. He wanted to look stylish, but not powerful at all, due to the other ponies and stallions needing help from somepony that was kind and soft, not somepony who looked like they could cause some serious damage. Although they needed to look and be powerful, Blitz didn’t want to be one that others feared, he wanted to be the one that was respected by all of the other ponies and stallions around, due to him being a soft little changeling, something that would not have hurt another soul, back then at least. Within the Wasteland, he was going to be the pony that was going to protect all that he had, whether he had to kill to survive or not. Something clicked within Blitz’s mind, before he woke up, with very wide eyes and an instant realisation of what he needed to do to change the land that was his home. He needed to protect the chosen ones of his settlement, making his mind instantly go back to him being a guard, a guard with a bladed polearm and a sniper rifle. He must protect his own group, at all costs!
