Demise of the King

Bone saw lead them to the center of the shanty village. “It’s ok everypony, it’s safe to come out now” he announced aloud to the ruins around them. Suddenly ponies started popping out of everywhere. Unicorn and pegasi alike filled the space around them. “Those unicorns you defeated, they were rouge ponies from canterlot who took control of our village. By beating them you have freed us, we are all forever in your debt.” Bone saw took a bow, grateful for what the brave group had done for them. “Well I’m glad we could help” shadow replied. “What happened to this town?” dash looked at the ruins around her. “Riots, poverty, urban conflict. Since the king went missing everything in Equestria has gone to hell.” Bone saw answered her question. “You said those unicorns came from canterlot?” shadow asked “yes they did, all we know here is that canterlot is worse off than we are.” “Well the 4 of us are headed to canterlot, we are going to restore order to Equestria” “oh, how are you going to accomplish that?” bone saw wanted to know. Shadow reached into his saddle bag and removed KJ’s crown, it glowed and shimmered in the light of the sun, every pony gasped.

“That’s the king’s crown……h-how did you get it?” he asked the question the rest of the ponies wanted to know. “We found him, he’s being held against his will but we can’t save him ourselves. We are on a mission to take the crown to Celestia so she can assist us in saving him” dash replied with a determined smile on her face. “Hmmmmmm well then, we will help you reach canterlot. The train to canterlot runs right through here, in fact…” bone saw pointed his hoof over to some tracks and a steam engine that appeared to be in bad shape “the tracks are right over there. We’ve tried to repair the train, but have had no success.” Shadow pulled a wrench out from his saddle bag; he brought pretty much everything he would ever need with him. “Let me have a crack at it” he trotted over to the engine with confidence and began working. “He’s real good with a wrench” dash bragged.

After an hour of hard work, the train was operational once more. “Alright there we go, the train should be working again” shadow’s hide and mane was mussed up, he was covered in various stains from the train. “We need to get going, like now” dash was trying to rush her stallion. “But what about scene and fluttershy?” he shot her a look trying to guilt her. “I’ll go with you and keep an eye on him in case anything happens” bone saw interrupted. “Great! That will ensure that we still get there in time” shadow was ecstatic that bone saw would assist them. “Alright well I’ll go load him on the gurney and get him on the train” bone saw headed back towards the hut. They got scene on the gurney and all boarded the train. The ponies of the village all waved the adventurers farewell as the train slowly departed heading towards canterlot. “I’ve never conducted a train before, hope this thing get us there in one piece” shadow said to himself.
