Part 1 "Come one come all to this tragic affair"

Doctor Redheart was ready to go home. The day had been long and tedious day of clinic duty, as there were no special cases at the moment that required her attention, her day had been spent looking at rashes, diagnosing sleep aids and checking out kids with the flu, or cold or some other common ailment, as she was doing currently for one Derpy Hooves.

Derpy had been unusually insistent on an immediate checkup. Given the commonality of her daughter, Dinky's symptoms, Redheart found this to be a little irregular. She knew that the filly had had colds before without her mother freaking out, what made this time so special?

Apparently nothing as everything she tested indicated no abnormalities outside the symptoms that would be expected of the average cold.

"here you go Lil miss," she said handing Dinky a lollipop, "just make sure to get plenty of sleep and water when you get home, And you'll be fine"

"yes mam" the filly replied with a cute little salute.

Addressing the concerned mother, Redheart said, "it's just a common cold as far as I can tell, I recommend she stay in bed for the day, and you should probably get some Ibuprofen from the hospital pharmacy on your way out, For her headache"

"Sorry for wasting your time doc," Derpy apologized, "Just wanted to be sure"

"It's no problem Derpy, really I got nothing better going on."

"well thank you very much anyways, Dinky its time to go h..." Derpy began before a sudden intruder cut her off

"Redheart you're needed in the ER" A hospital nurse, Candy her name was, Said as she ran into the room, slamming the door open, Her expression conveyed much urgency.

"What's Happened?" Redheart asked concerned.

Candy looked at Dinky in the room, hiding behind her mother, and chose to whisper the answer into Redhearts ear to not frighten the child anymore. Redheart's expression became grim at whatever she was told. She looked at the Mailmare in the clinic, who in turn gave her a quizzical expression.

"Get the princess and her friends here now"

Rainbow and Applejack were both in the emergency room, and Derpy had to inform The Princess of Friendship and the rest of her Cabinet.

Derpy had left her daughter with the nurse to make the trip. She was relieved Dinky had nothing out of the ordinary. She couldn't tell Redheart this fact... But derpy had recently been to a time where certain Plagues still existed... and Derpy was worried she had somehow given one to her kid. However, being too different times was not a thing the Mailmare believed should be... common knowledge.

As she thought, Derpy Flew as fast as she could to Princess Twilight Sparkle's castle, which fortunately was just around the corner. When Derpy arrived at the front entrance it was locked, fortunately, the Princess had given Derpy a key to the castle, should news of great urgency be in need of her attention. Such as the very message Derpy had been sent to deliver.

She continued her flight through the cold crystal hallways until she reached twilights bedroom. Once arrived she barged in.

CRASH!!!

Derpy had slammed into one of the princess' dressers, A clutz as always. Derpy was shocked that Twilight had not awoken from the sound. She was relieved to not have witness to yet another display of her lack of coordination.

The princesses Dragon assistant, however, did respond to the commotion. In a fight ready stance, he quickly arose and demanded, "who's there". Based on his tone Derpy deduced that the cute baby dragon fancied himself as the Princess' bodyguard.

Derpy put her arms up in mock fear of the brave and loyal dragon, "It's only me Mr. Dragon, please don't roast me with your might flames" Spike instantly dropped his stance and looked down embarrassed.

"so something urgent for Twilight?" he asked after an awkward moment of silence

"yep" the wall-eyed mare replied, "can you help me get her up"

And with that Spike gently shook Twilight with practiced ease. "come on twilight you gotta get up"

Apparently a loud crash couldn't awake the mare but a whisper from spike could. Derpy remembers something similar with her dad, where he would sleep through the sounds of many things derpy had accidentally broke as a filly. But if she or her twin came into his room at night after a nightmare... all they would need to do is gently tap him and he would be up and there for them.

Derpy's nightmares were usually of her breaking important things

"What time is it?" The princess asked groggily.

"very late but you really gotta get up, Derpy says it's urgent." The Dragon replied

Twilight sat up and noticed the mailman in the room.

"did something happen? Is another villain attacking? Do I need to assemble my friends? Is Luna making a surprise visit?" Twilight asked in rapid succession.

"No," derpy said, in a sympathetic tone, the tone of delivering bad news, "two of your friends, Applejack and Rainbow Dash are hurt, They are in the Ponyville Hospital"

Twilights eyes widened, concern conquered her face as Derpy added, "They are in the emergency room."

"Thanks for telling me, I'll get Fluttershy and And also Applejacks family, You don't need to fly that far out, just get Pinkie and Rarity," she said before teleporting away. Leaving Derpy and Spike behind.

"I'm gonna go right to the hospital'" Spike said as he walked alongside Derpy down the hall to the exit. They walked in silence till they exited the castle.

"Is there anything you know about what happened?" Spike then asked before Derpy could fly away.

"No, sorry but you'll have to figure that out when you get there, I didn't have time to ask" Derpy answered. Then she took off in the direction of Sugarcube Corner.

She knew pinkie was the only one there at this time, She had been the one to deliver the invitation the cakes had received to a special baking contest this week. They had brought their kids along and made a whole family trip outta it

When she arrived at the bakery she was instantly on alert, The door had been smashed open and a trail of blood came through the empty doorway... this must have been where the accident occurred...

But how could they be hurt in Sugarcube Corner without Pinkie Pie knowing about it unless...

Derpy considered that if the other 2 were in critical condition, where was Pinkie, why wasn't she at the hospital... maybe she was... no this was Pinkie Pie, she couldn't be dead... she just couldn't.

So derpy followed the blood trail into the building... to find just behind the register an opened cellar entrance. It looked designed to blend in with the floor. Had it not been opened Derpy did not think she would have been able to know a latch was there at all. Derpy felt a creeping sense of dread as she ascended the stairs and was met with a heavy smell of a hospital, Maybe something like Chlorine or bleach in the air... the sort of chemical one would use to mask strong smells

Into the depths, she descended. Before noticing anything else she saw the motionless form of a pink mare, Pinkie Pie. The body was sideways against a wall, surrounded by wooden fragments of a broken table. It looked as tho she had been slammed into it.

Derpy was by her side before she even had a chance to think. She placed her hoof on the body's neck, 'Damn no pulse'. Derpy rolled the body over, intending to begin chest compressions... But this caused her to look at the rest of the body... to really look at it. And what she saw made her blood go cold.

She saw the body in a dress of many colors, almost like patches of fabric sewn together, Each patch had an image on it, images Derpy recognized, the cutie marks of ponies Derpy had known for years, 3 blue and yellow candy wrappers, Bon Bon, 3 carrots, Carrot Top and many others were in the mix.

And the patches... they weren't fabric.

They were fur.

Derpy immediately looked around the room she was in... and was even more horrified. On top of the blood splatter most everywhere there were organs about the room posed to look like party decorations. Intestine Streamers, and balloons from lungs. There were taxidermy heads of ponies on shelves, and a few cleaned shiny skulls, one of a griffin. The centerpiece of the room was a metal surgical table with 4 metal latches the size of legs, it had the most amount of blood anywhere in the room.

The pieces all came together... either Applejack or Rainbow had been on that table and the other one had found her and rescued her... killing Pinkie to do it. Judging by the impact Pinkie must have had against that table, a table Derpy now noticed had to have been holding surgical tools as those also littered the area around the body, Applejack must have been the one doing the rescue, she has the legs to make such a kick.

Derpy at first just froze in terror, well not terror, there was no immediate danger from the room and she knew that the one who it seemed was responsible for the danger was dead behind her. Pinkie. More like she was frozen in horror.

Over the past few years, Derpy had seen her share of horrible things, But she had never seen anything like... like this. Not with this much gore, or to... or by... ponies she knew. She couldn't bring herself to fly back out and alert Rarity to the hospital, How could she just continue on after what she had seen.

She didn't even know what she would do if she got up... fly back to the hospital and bring help here... But surely that would be a waste of time, Pinkie was most definitely dead, and Derpy wasn't sure with what she saw that she wanted even the possibility that paramedics arrive and revive her. So go find Rarity then as she had intended. But how could she look at the mare with what she had seen? how could she look at anyone?" Should she just stay put?"

No, she had to, She wasn't the useless clutz she once was, she had traveled through time, fought Daleks and Cyberponies all and other manners of aliens. She was not a coward. She had a mission and she had to complete it. She'd get Rarity to the hospital and then tell them all that she had seen when they are together. Derpy got back on her hooves and ran back up the stairs. Leaving the lifeless body once again in solitude.

Authors notes: This story is inspired by the fanfic that brought me into this fandom, I don't remember its name but it was an alternate ending to Mile Prowers "A Precious Rainbow" which Itself is an alternate ending to cupcakes. Which I am sure you have heard of. Sadly the story that inspired this world that has plagued my head through my Middle school, high school and now college years no longer seems to exist, The author seems to have deleted his account from fanfiction.com, making it impossible for me to find this fic again. I don't even remember the author's fake online name, some dude online changed my life back in 2013, and he completely erased the thing that did it, makes me sad. Precious Rainbow is still around, Check it out it's written much better than anything I could hope to do. Also a cookie to anyone who notices what the pattern in chapter names is.

This story does have Ocs not created by me. the only one used at this time is the nurse Candy... a minor Character from Kkats Fallout Equestria.

Also, I have my first attempt to realize this story as a canceled project on my pages, Don't read it, not only is it worse written than this (if that's possible) but it also contains, if your interested in where this goes, mild spoilers.

Welp time to make this public and see what happens... if anything.
