When Rainbow Dash hears ponies complaining about the Apple Family cider, she learns that some of the ponies in Ponyville are looking for something new in the way of liquid refreshment.

So she starts up her own cider business by inventing Rainbow Cider, a spicy-yet-delicious drink that makes you "twenty percent cooler in ten seconds flat."

How does Applejack react? Why, with a contest of course!
