Sunset Rider

"Sunset! Sunset!" A voice called out, stirring Sunset from her sleep but she simply rolled over. She then heard her bedroom door open "Sunset" this time the voice was clearer and Sunset instantly recognized it.

"Johnny!!!" Sunset cried as she bolted up from her bed and gave him a bone crushing hug. "I'm so happy to see you" she squealed as tears of joy streamed down her face.

"As am I. The doctors said they couldn't explain it, last night I was going to die but this morning they gave me a clean bill of health. I think god gave me a second chance and I thank him for that. Now come on, we need to tell my parents and your friends the news" Johnny said.

Sunset got dressed in her biker clothes again and followed Johnny outside. Each mounted their respective motorcycle and drove into Canterlot. 'God didn't give you a second chance, the Devil did' thought Sunset on the ride their. It didn't take long to get into Canterlot and when they arrived a police officer at the entrance signaled them to pull over. They turned off their bikes "what's the problem officer" Johnny asked.

"There has been two murders in the city last night. We're not accusing either of you but I'm authorized to check every vehicle that enters or exits the city" the police officer said.

"Well, check away, we have nothing to hide" said Johnny. The officer nodded and brought his search dog to them.

Sunset actually did have something to hide, the secret compartment with the shotgun. She however kept a straight face and hopped that the dog wouldn't find anything. The dog didn't even bark once when it sniffed her bike and she found that strange. 'Aren't dogs trained to smell firearms?' Sunset pondered.

"You're good to go" said the police officer.

"Thanks, see you later" said Johnny as he and Sunset started their motorcycles again and got back on the road.

Meanwhile Sunset was still pondering why the dog didn't smell the shotgun. 'Maybe I'm not completely powerless when the sun is up' she reasoned 'I'll also have to find the evil souls that murdered those people when night comes' she concluded.

They parked in front of Twilights library, Johnny and Sunset dismounted their bike and started walking towards the shop. Johnny stopped abruptly when he felt his phone buzz in his pocket and took it out. It was a text message from his dad saying 'Meet me and your mother at Denny's' Johnny puts his phone away. "Sunset, I need to go meet my parents, can you tell your friends our news without me" he asked.

"Sure" Sunset shrugged. Johnny got on his bike after a few revs he took off. Sunset entered the library and found four of her six best friends, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Applejack. "Hello everyone" Sunset said cheerfully but her friends had sad faces when they looked up at her, Fluttershy was even crying. "What's wrong?" Sunset asked as her smile fell.

"Something terrible has happened Sunset" said Twilight. She took a deep breath and finally said "you've probably heard of the two murders that happened last night".

Sunset nodded, her chest tense now.

"Pinkie Pie and Rarity were the people that were murdered" said Twilight.

Sunsets heart suddenly felt like lead "what, no. That can't be true. It must be a mistake" Sunset said.

Applejack took her hat off "I'm sorry, as much as I want this to be a mistake, it isn't" she said.

Sunset knew Applejack would never lie to her. Tears welled up in Sunsets eyes before she ran out of the store, got on her motorcycle, and sped away to the hospital. When she arrived she ran in up to the front desk "I'm a friend of Rarity and Pinkie Pie, I must see them" Sunset said.

The man at the desk typed up the names into the computer "I'm sorry but their dead" he said.

More tears rolled out of Sunsets eyes as she shook her head "No, they can't be" she said.

"I can take you to the morgue if you want" the man offered.

Sunset nodded "yes, take me there" she said. She needed prof.

So she and the man walked downstairs to the basement of the hospital, where the morgue was. They came to a door marked 'morgue' and the man opened the door "your friends are in freezers C-16 and C-17" the man said before leaving.

Sunset ran down the endless halls of the morgue before coming to freezers C-16 and 17. She opened them and almost vomited at the sight, Pinkie Pies head was completely split in half down to the neck and Rarity was cut in half across the torso. Both toe-tags said that they died from axe lacerations. Sunset stumbled against the wall and cried for all she's worth, but suddenly became cold. She could see her breath and feel the tears freeze on her face.

Sunset then heard a demonic laugh and slowly turned to her left, where the laughter came from. There stood Satan in all his glory "I believe that the toe-tags are referring to this axe" he said, holding up his cane as it morphed into a demonic looking axe. Sunset immediately put the peaces together in her head, the fire of vengeance burned even hotter within her.

Sunset slowly raised an arm and pointed at Satan "You killed them" she concluded with her voice practically dripping with venom.

"Why yes I did, and it felt good" said Satan.

Sunset could feel the Ghost Rider powers coming to her again. She yelled in pain as her flesh burned away but it soon subsided. "YOU HAVE SPILLED INNOCENT BLOOD" Ghost Rider said as she moved forward, but she suddenly stopped. It was that invisible force again.

Satan laughed "have you already forgotten? I own your soul and that means that I own you" Satan said. He lunged forward and grabbed the Ghost Riders throat and pushed her to the ground. Sunset felt all that power seep out of her again as her head and hair grew back. She felt so weak, even breathing was hard at the moment.

"Be carful of what you do. The deal states that I would heal his gunshot wound, not keep him alive" Satan laughed as he disappeared into a mist.

It became warmer again as Sunset gasped for sweet, wonderful air. She now finally had the strength again to stand up, looking over to her best friends before she left. She drove her motorcycle to the top of a hill overlooking Canterlot. Sunset fell into deep thought as she looked at the sun setting.

'It would seem that I can still become the Ghost Rider during the day when the sun is blocked by something. However, I have more pressing things to think about right now' she thought.

The Devil had killed two of her closest friends. How long would it be till he kills Johnny. He did say he could kill Johnny whenever he wanted. The one she loves with all her heart. She needed to put as much distance between herself and Johnny to keep him alive. However, she knew he would try to follow her so she needed to find a way to keep him safe from her. After thinking for a moment it hit her, suicide, who would follow someone who's dead.

Sunset traveled to the bridge crossing over the flood control river. She hid her bike so she could summon it later. Sunset then got up on the barrier, spread her arms and leaned forward, letting gravity take over. Several cars screeched to a halt at the scene. Some people got out and looked over the edge but Sunset was nowhere to be found.
