To Steal a Secret

A packet had arrived in Vaverfront. Officials are worried regarding the content, as it featured only the flag of the harmonic movement within the changeling society. They believe it contains explosive or hazardous material. Worse, they worry that it may upset the currently ruling government of Queen Chrysalis.

The latter came true. Envoys sent from Vesalipolis requested the return of the package, naming it a radio which had been mistakenly sent to Vaverfront. How did they know, and whether it was true or not, the police could not tell.

The military stepped in, opening the package revealed a wooden box. Further examination by opening said box reveals a keyboard, lamps with letters on it, and what appears to be rotors. They correctly deduced the item as the enigma machine, currently used by the changeling government in 1005.

Sending the packet to Vaverfront University, the military cooperated with mathematician Marion Wetold Zygalaski, who had studied cryptology. He was unable to create a replica, as the item had been sent back on the day after tomorrow.
