Flight Camp, Pt. 1
“Alright, that takes care of Pinkie Pie,” Dash proclaimed as she looked around at the shocked faces next to her. True, it was very odd that their party loving friend would have taken part in such debauchery, but it was her business. Still, that didn’t create a sense of relief in anypony. Rather, they each began wondering what it would be like to be vulnerable and helpless in the hooves of somepony who wasn’t theirs to mate with. It stirred up some excitement, and more than a few of the group forced themselves to behave.
Twilight wiped some sweat from her brow. “Alright,” she said, “after that…stimulating tale, who’s next?”
“That’s easy,” Dash said, “it’s Fluttershy’s turn…”
Fluttershy squeaked nervously and hid behind her flowing pink mane. One blue eye peered out at the group, scared into a forced dilation. Her breathing became quicker, emphasized by the fear that laced its way through her body. This wasn’t the kind of fright that she normally felt when confronted by things like darkness, dragons, and drooling monsters. This was a completely different kind, the type that one feels when one knows that the truth is something that should be hidden away at all costs. She was perspiring severely, and Twilight maneuvered over to put a comforting hoof around her.
“You don’t have to talk if you don’t want to,” she said.
“Oh, come on, Twi!” Dash grumbled, “I wanna hear Fluttershy’s sex story!”
“Lay off her, Rainbow,” Twilight warned, “can’t you see that she doesn’t want her privacy spewed all over Ponyville?”
“It’s not all over Ponyville, it’s just to us! We can keep a secret.”
“That’s not the point,” Twilight said, shaking her head, “forcing somepony to speak of their personal lives isn’t the way friends behave. It goes against everything we stand for!”
“It’s alright, Twilight,” Fluttershy suddenly said with a shaky voice, “I…I can do this.”
“No, Fluttershy,” Twilight said, “I don’t want to put you through anything you don’t feel comfortable doing.”
Fluttershy sighed and slowly emerged from her bodily curtain. Waves of nervousness crashed against her spirit, and the small levee she had built against them was absolutely no match. But she wanted to be brave in front of her friends, whom she loved so dearly. Even Rainbow Dash, who had rudely intruded into her privacy, deserved respect and kindness. She thought of her element, and recognized that it would be so unfair to everyone else were she to back out. So she shut her eyes, gulped, and told her story.
“It was flight camp, way back in Cloudsdale…”
“ALRIGHT, FLY! LET’S GO!” Thunder Cloud roared. He stamped his hoof on the puffy white surface beneath where he stood, and smiled in satisfaction as small tufts flew in every direction. He absolutely loathed his job as Flight Camp instructor, feeling that his talents could be put to better use as the Captain of the Wonderbolts. In fact, he HAD been Captain…up until Stormy Flare and her nosy daughter, Spitfire, had gotten him expelled for “conduct unbecoming to a Bolt.”
So, I fucked Angel Wings one time, he said to himself, so fucking what?! Spitfire’s nose shouldn’t have been in my filing cabinet in the first place!
“I SAID, MOVE!” He yelled at the little ponies flying in front of him, “WHAT’S THE MATTER?! HAVE YOU GOT ROCKS IN YOUR BRAIN?! LET’S PICK UP THE PACE!”
Meanwhile, a certain yellow Pegasus filly made her way into Flight Camp for the very first time along with her family. She buzzed her wings a little bit, but hid behind her mane every chance she got. She was scared to death, and Thunder Cloud’s aggressive instruction didn’t make her feel any better. In fact, she felt worse. She could hear him all the way from the main gate and just hoped that she might get paired up with one of the nicer teachers. She knew he had been a big shot with the Wonderbolts, but she didn’t know why he’d been thrown out. Now, she figured he was just too mean for the Bolts.
Her mother and father registered her for a week’s worth of lessons, said their farewells, and returned home. She felt like the Camp was the biggest place in the world, and she didn’t think she’d ever find her way around. Her lips quivered with fright, and they shook even more when she was found by one of the teachers, Flight Pattern. She was a rather imposing mare, with bright green eyes and a close cut yellow mane. Her sleek body shone in the morning sun, and little Fluttershy noted that she seemed to have been working out.
“Hey, kid, where’s your bunkhouse?”
“I…er…um…” Fluttershy stuttered, “I…don’t really…know.”
Flight smiled. “Come on, I’ll help ya find it. Then, you’d better hustle on over to the Mess Hall. Grub’s about to be served.”
“Um…alright,” Fluttershy said.
Flight gave the filly an odd, yet interested look. She’d never seen somepony so absolutely scared of something before. She just hoped that, when the time came, the small filly could fly with the other foals. She was definitely old enough, and her wings looked like they were in pristine condition. She hadn’t been ravaged by the plague of “Wing Fever” that was going around town. In an adult Pegasus, it caused some pretty significant wing damage. But in a little filly, it would be absolutely devastating. They’d never be able to fly again!
But Flight promised to help the young pony, so she did. She led Fluttershy over to Bunkhouse C, where other colts and fillies were beginning to arrive for their week of instruction. The yellow filly noticed all the other foals happily talking and flapping their wings. Some of the older colts were having a competition to impress a couple of cute fillies, flexing their wings and showing just how long they could hover in place. Fluttershy couldn’t help but smile at the whole display. Her mother had told her of these types of things happening very frequently around the Camp. The colts and fillies that were there were reaching the age where they’d begin looking for a mate, and mating themselves.
But she wasn’t there for love. She was there to improve her flying, which was embarrassingly weak, hence her reason for not wanting to be taught by Thunder Cloud. She now wanted Flight Pattern for an instructor, since the mare had been so kind to her. She figured that things would be exactly the same out in the air. She also met a rough filly named Rainbow Dash, but she didn’t really pay her any mind. She was much too nervous about everything. She had no idea that Dash would break the Sonic Rainboom Barrier in a race to defend her from some bullies. That would be discovered in time.
Now, it was time to begin their lessons, and she was very nervous about the whole thing. Unfortunately, she did get placed into Thunder’s class, and she was absolutely frantic. She quaked under her covers the entire night before her first session, and when she peeked out in the morning, everypony had already gone! She squeaked and raced from her bunkhouse, trotting along the clouds until she reached the part of the field of clouds where she’d been assigned.
“LISTEN UP, YOU PISS POOR EXCUSES FOR FLIERS!” Thunder roared as he stood in front of them, “I AM THUNDER CLOUD, AND YOU WILL HATE ME! AW, HELL, YOU PROBABLY ALREADY DO! I AM YOUR INSTRUCTOR, AND IT’S MY JOB TO MAKE HALFWAY DECENT PERFORMERS OUT OF ALL OF YOU! WHETHER I HAVE TO SCREAM, HOLLER, OR JUST JAM MY HOOF UP YOUR ASSES, I WILL DO IT! IS THAT UNDERSTOOD?!”
“YES, SIR!” The foals yelled back.
“Um…yes, sir,” Fluttershy said quietly.
“GOOD! NOW, THEN, WHICH ONE OF YOU WORTHLESS FROGS WANTS TO BE FIRST ON THE OBSTACLE COURSE?!”
A million hooves shot up instantly…or, what seemed like a million to the scared yellow filly behind them.
“ALRIGHT, LET’S GO WITH…YOU!”
Thunder pointed a hoof, and the crowd parted to reveal Fluttershy, trembling and cowering before the large stallion. He leapt off his cloud and floated down to accost her, turning her face up with a hoof. “I DIDN’T HEAR YOU RESPOND, MAGGOT!”
“Um…well…see, sir, I just…That is, if I could possibly have a reprieve, or if somepony else wants to go, that’d be just fine.”
Thunder put on a mocking smile. “Aw, wook at the poow wittle fiwwy,” he said, “perhaps I could get you a glass of warm milk and a nice storybook to read.”
“Oh, that would be lovely.”
“Would it, now?”
Fluttershy nodded.
“Well, guess what…IT DON’T WORK LIKE THAT AROUND HERE! NOW, YOU’RE GONNA GET YOUR LITTLE RUMP ON THAT OBSTACLE COURSE, OR I’M GONNA SHOVE MY CLIPBOARD SO FAR DOWN YOUR THROAT, YOU’LL BE CRAPPING THE NAMES OF COMPANY D! NOW, GET GOING!”
