Chapter One: Gordon Freemane
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Squee! I always wanted to write about Gordon Freeman, ever since I learned about the badass hero himself! Taking out zombies and aliens with a crowbar, and a crowbar only!? Fuck yeah I'm writing that. Rated Teen for gore, and maybe a sexual comment here or there :P.. Well, I suppose- oh. Right. No more ranting, you all came here for Half-Life or Gordon Freeman, or just because you're watching me!(stalkers much? O.o) EDIT: On that note, with the whole people watching me, I think that brings the total up to four. Maybe five. Hang on, I'll list them. And while your at it, go check out their stories. Here we go, anyway: Prosdkr, cloudranger, monsterlord18, RogueShadow, DreamyUnderwood, and, maybe I spelled this wrong- Psicosis. Go check out their stories after you finish with mine. And if you watch me, then I'll make sure to put your name here too :D Now lets read about Gordon Freemane.
Watery sunlight streamed into the sleeping pony's eyes. He moved, rolling onto his stomach to shield his eyes from the dawn light, determined to subconsciously continue his slumber. His brown-orange fur stirred from a warm breeze, and his mud-brown mane looked even more windswept. The grass beneath him rippled lazily in the breeze, and some of the needles from the tall, dark green pine trees were tugged off. Birds sang loudly, and the pony couldn't ignore the waking world much longer. His eyes opened, revealing bright green, annoyed eyes. He didn't say anything, and as he blinked he looked around.
It was clear the stallion was confused. As he struggled into a sitting position, his eyes shone with bewilderment. Upon looking at a dark pine tree, he sagged suddenly, like a marionette with its strings cut. Sleep, warm and unknowing, seemed much better to the confused orange unicorn than standing about in a completely unfamiliar forest. As his mind processed this place and all the reasons he could be here, he forced himself to look around, and thin beard and mustache were ruffled by the breeze. He had found the wind soothing in his sleep, but now it just annoyed the orange unicorn stallion.
The pony looked around, deep in thought. Maybe he should just sleep? And everything would become clearer? But the world was coming into a sharper focus, and dreaming away was no longer an option. Climbing to his hooves, he looked down, his expression filled with a ridiculous amount of shock. Hooves. He stared at them, shook them, and then shook his head, closed his eyes, then looked back at his hooves as though expecting them to change. His brain could not process the hooves. They couldn't be real, could they? Could he have hooves, when he had just been running from-
The stallion's head jerked abruptly. He heard a faint sound, like a faint calling. His ear twitched, and he tried walking with the hooves. He tripped, then stood again, placing one hoof in front of the other. Eyes watering with the pain of falling over, he walked slowly toward the voice. He stumbled only twice, and then stopped, seeing a pale, stunned face. And the voice, he knew the voice!
“Gordon!” The mare was crying out, eyes shut tight, and then, she looked at the stallion. “Gordon!” She breathed, eyes wide. The unicorn cocked his head. “Gordon Freeman, surely you remember me, Alyx Vance?”
Oh, yes! This was the beautiful woman he'd followed around on his adventures. She was a light, brown-sugary color, with dark brown almond shaped eyes. She had a black mane and tail, and a peculiar mark on her side, that was obviously a pistol. “Although,” She said, eying his mane and tail, “Gordon Freemane would be a better name,” She chuckled to herself, and Gordon glared at her, face shadowed by his mane, and she looked around. “Well, Gordon, where should we go?”
He shrugged, and pointed a hoof towards the east.
“Better direction than any. Have you seen these things on our heads? I know we're horses or something, but I mean, I've never seen a horse with such big eyes or a huge thing on it's head. I wonder...” She trotted carefully up to Gordon and licked his horn, and he immediately buckled.
“Yeah. Weak spot. Perfect.” She sighed. Gordon glared at her reproachingly. And he stood up, and grinned devilishly. He lapped at her horn, causing her to moan and sink to her knees. “Okay,” She gasped, “I'll stop, just don't do that again...”
A flicker of a smile crossed the orange unicorn's face, as he leaned against a rock wall.
There was a squeak, a shower of rocks, and then butter yellow pony fell down, landing between them. “Oh... my...” She attempted to hide herself in her mane, tail, and wings. “I am so sorry, I didn't realize you were... Having fun together...”
“So these things on our heads are for...?” Alyx blushed, drawing back from Gordon, who stepped back, face showing equal embarrassment.
“Oh, no, they're for magic...” The winged pony said, “But... some use them like that.”
“Magic.” Alyx said bluntly.
“Why doesn't your coltfriend say anything?” The pink-maned asked suddenly, eying Gordon apprehensively.
“He's not my... coltfriend, but he's mute. He can't say a word.”
Gordon shrugged hopelessly, and to that the pony said, “I've seen that in my animals, but I've never met a mute pony before. How do you know what he's going to say?”
“Um... I just guess? Or, Gordon tries to show be the best he can.” Alyx said, affronted.
“Well, my name is …........”
“Um, what was that?” She asked the timid, still-blushing pony.
“Fluttershy.” She whispered, face now a radiant crimson. Gordon would've laughed if he could, so he satisfied himself with a grin on his pony face.
“Well, my name is Alyx Vance, and my mute friend,” putting a tremendous amount of stress on friend, “Is Gordon Freemane.”
Gordon glared at her and she grinned back cheekily.
This was going to be a bad day, and he already knew it. Fluttershy said something about a town. Groaning inwardly, Gordon stood up and followed the slowly flying yellow pony. And as he did, something crossed his mind. Where's my HAZMAT suit? And my crowbar?! He looked around, and growled to himself. He wouldn't just find his Hazmat suit on the ground. In his annoyance, he pawed at the ground. They were trekking away, through the muddy, once peaceful forest, and Gordon Freemane trotted on, lost in a magical world of talking horses with wings and magic. And now, the magical world had two ponies who weren't ponies.
Equestria rejected the ponies, but they came anyway. In order to restore balance, Equestria was going to have to kill them. And that wouldn't be a problem. They were like ants on the sidewalk, and she was the evil little kid who was going to stomp on them.

Chapter Two: Dear Old Fluttershy
Ah, welcome, welcome everyone, to the second Chapter in dear Gordon's adventure as a pony! Three more of you chose to follow me upon reading Gordon Freemane, but here are my new followers: Pharilax, Kishin, and zel. I am disappointed to see none of you seemed to care how sick I was, but I did lie about how when I'd post this, so I guess I deserved it, just a little bit :l
Anyway, go check out all my followers' work, they're all amazing, and (just maybe that's a lie, I haven't actually READ any of their work...) :3 Anyway, here we go, breaking off at the forest part!
The pony, Fluttershy, said nothing as they tromped through the forest. Every once and a while, she'd stop, look up, and then hurry forward quicker. Gordon felt a surge of impatience. He had to try to get back- to try to turn human, and go back to Earth. Alyx stared ahead, stony-faced. The orange unicorn stallion looked around, taking in the brilliantly colored grass. It was lime green, but mostly mud spattered the ground, getting all over his mostly clean hooves. When Fluttershy stopped at a rock, she stared hard at it, frowned, clapped a hoof to her head, murmured something, and walked back the way they came.
Trying to ignore the twinge of annoyance, Gordon looked at the wildlife. Fluffy tailed creatures scrambled up the trees. Gordon remembered them when he was just a child... He didn't remember the name... It was so long ago, his mother had told him. Subconsciously, he tried to call out the name of the creatures, and was startled to see a fluffy creature stop and stare, as though wondering if he were sane. A blush rising in his face, he walked forward, ears flat and head low. This went unnoticed by Alyx and the timid pony. The brown creature skittered forward, across the mud and leaves, and jumped up onto Gordon's back. It darted forward, eyes bright, and glowing mischievously. Fluttershy took notice, and said, now smiling, “Oh, I think this squirrel likes you!” She said.
Squirrel. He remembered now, that was the name of the fluffy creature. The creature tugged at his fur and looked at him, jerking its head in another direction, also pointing with a clawed, human-like hand. In a minute, Gordon thought irritably, he was trying to get out of this forest, not following little brown mammals.
At last, the pony Fluttershy squeaked out, “Here!” Through a gap in the trees, if Gordon squinted, he could see a little village in the distance. He realized that it was a little town. Much closer to them was a little hut-like place at the edge of the forest. “That's my home!” She chirped.
Gordon found it agonizing to be in such a pink place, but much worse were all the animals. He found it irritating that mice were everywhere, but the fluffy-tailed squirrels were nowhere to be seen. There were tons of birds, singing coarsely, all together, and they were all bright neon colors. It was quite nauseating to look at, seeing as the brightest thing Gordon saw on earth was the orange in his hazmat suit. Just thinking about his hazmat suit, all of his guns, and...
His heart felt like led at the mention of the crowbar, and then heard Fluttershy say softly, “Alyx, what is that? For your cutie mark?”
“My... what?” Alyx looked offended. Fluttershy stared at her, perhaps pondering if Alyx really didn't know what a cutie mark was, or was just playing a joke. Deciding that the light brown unicorn was not jesting, she said, “The mark on your flank... Do you want to hear the story of how I got mine?” Her voice grew stronger, as though the memory brought back very happy times. Alyx looked meaningfully at Gordon, as though he could say no.
“Oh, well, it started at flight camp, when I was just a filly-”
Gordon groaned inwardly. In truth, he hated told stories, drawn-out directions, or lengthy conversations, because he couldn't ask questions, make comments, or add to the general noise. :3 Grumpily, he sat down. The entire house was made of wood. On top of green floorboards was a large red rug, in the center of it was a dark red, printed flower. There was a birdhouse and window to his left, along with a large, dark green birdcage, and a little cat or dog bed with two pillows. Farther along, across the room, was, in a row from a wooden staircase, a lamp, a sofa (bright green), a chair, which had three different colors, and a lime green, squashy chair. Beneath these was a light pink rug. Inside the staircase was a bookshelf.
Gordon trotted over to examine. Alyx and Fluttershy trooped up the stairs, and Gordon promptly tripped over a stubborn-looking white rabbit. He shook his head and stood up. Smiling gently and rubbing his head, he took a closer look at it. It glared at him sullenly. Frowning at the tiny creature's hostility, Gordon thought now would be a good time to practice this “magic”.
For a while, he just stood there, pointing his horn at a book, thinking how stupid he must've looked. Then, suddenly, he realized- it was just like a gun. Pull the trigger out comes the magic! But where was the trigger? He racked his primitive, wild horse brain, looking for the instincts of the pony. But there were none. Frustrated, he tried to shout curses at the books, but nothing happened. He sat on the green couch to sulk while the white rabbit glared at him. And suddenly, he could've sworn a light bulb appeared over his head.
He visualized the trigger of a pistol. He imagined a finger pulling the trigger, and that the horn was the barrel. And, to his satisfaction, a book raised hesitantly, surrounded in a light, pale orange glow. It matched the orange on his Hazmat suit. He nearly cried out. That hazmat suit was not only one of his best friends, it had saved his life countless times. And now... It was gone. Utterly gone. It nearly made him cry. He was on a strange planet, and the only thing he knew, the only thing to confirm he wasn't just an insane, talking horse, was Alyx.
He levitated the book to himself. It was about squirrels. He read about them, skipping over the words, not really paying attention, not focusing on anything.
Alyx appeared down the staircase in thirty minutes.
“Gordon, get up. We have to go into town. Maybe somehow... we can get home?” Her voice was so dubious he knew she didn't believe it for a second. Gordon shook his head silently, and they went out the door into the brilliant sunshine. He turned for a moment. He jerked his head sharply, then jabbed Alyx with his hoof.
Staggering towards them was a creature. It's chest was ripped open, displaying a beating heart, working lungs, and moving, pumping, churning organs, some bulging out of the hole in the ribcage. The whole thing was doused in blood, and Gordon couldn't fight the urge to vomit. But that wasn't the worst bit. Riding where a head of the creature should be was what looked like a four legged crab. It had no eyes, but was pale cream in color.
Fluttershy screamed. And screamed, and screamed, eyes bulging, wings spread wide, and tail tucked beneath her legs. She fainted in the dirt.
“Gordon... I thought the humans were bad, but this is an adorable, large-eyed, cream-colored pony. Look at it's tail. Blue and pink, and little candies as it's 'cutie mark!'” Alyx whispered. Gordon looked at her. He raised his hooves, then approached the zompony. It screeched piercingly, then Gordon detected a voice, beneath it, a screaming female one. “Oh, Celestia help! CELESTIA HELP ME!”
It was so muted, so twisted, he could barely recognize it. But he could see sharp talons at the tip of each hoof. Gordon looked at Alyx helplessly, pleadingly.
She shook her head, dark pony eyes glowing with fear and sadness.
The two approached the pony, and as it lunged for Alyx, Gordon slammed at the side of the headcrab with one hoof. Bright, acid-green blood spurted from the headcrab, and the host beneath screamed, moaning, pleading. The headcrab jerked it's puppet forward, knowing it had lost the fight. The moaning grew louder. And Gordon saw a headcrab, underneath the pony, pleasuring her, teasing her, playing with her. It filled him with rage, and he pulled the magic trigger, lifting the headcrab off and slamming the broken, dead body into the dirt dozens of times. He ripped off the top headcrab, then jumped away. Alyx jumped back, bawling like a baby. The headcrab had eaten part of it's host, revealing a bit of skull, and an empty eye socket.
Gordon used his magic to stitch up the chest, but could only look at the bloodsoaked pony's head.
She moaned, and began gnawing on her hoof, ripping the flesh to pieces. Gordon vomited immediately. Gordon used his magic and snapped the pony's neck. He couldn't watch that. Wouldn't watch that. He used the magic a way he hadn't before, as flames wrapped around the dead pony and reduced it to ashes, which scattered to the breeze.
“Disgusting.” Alyx commented, not looking at the ashes, but staring at Fluttershy. “Do you think she'll be okay?”
Gordon shook his head violently. He remembered first seeing the bloody people at Black Mesa. He had felt lightheaded and dizzy. But, this was worse. Without toughening up from that, and just straight seeing not only a blood-oozing, organ pumping, crab-carrying pony, not just some random person, but someone you knew and loved... He would never feel the same way, and his stomach clenched tightly, wondering what it would be like if the badass Alyx was a zombie.
He hoped he wouldn't have to find out.

Chapter Three: The State of Mind
Gordon stood up carefully. Alyx's face was concerned, but gentle. Very gentle, as she stroked Fluttershy's hair carefully.
“What now?” She said, raising her face to Gordon.
He jerked his head, and wished again he had his voice. He had lost it long ago, when he was very young. He remembered... vaguely... a boy. His brother. That was when the world was good- when his mother was around, when his father was alive, when his brother, John Freeman, wasn't off at work all the time. When he was just a kid, and he remembered the names of the little furry creatures and the smell of oak and pine trees after it had rained...
Gordon turned to Alyx. That was in the past. He shrugged and pointed a hoof carefully at the village, and she nodded determinedly. For Fluttershy,Gordon thought, and they began the long trek.
The orange unicorn began to take in everything. He noticed the squirrels were very eager. They pulled on his legs, made obvious gestures to go back, but yet...
Gordon Freeman knew where they wanted him to go.
Home.
But there was a reason they were here. And Alyx didn't know. She had no idea about Him.
G-Man.
Gordon remembered first meeting the mysterious man, after going into the portal leading to (don't hate me, I may have spelled this wrong...) Xen.
Gordon had to leave the disturbing thoughts out of his head, so he had to force himself to look at everything, anything else other than the annoying orange hooves.
“Hey!” A voice called. It seemed sort of wavery, but filled with tension. He could imagine her saying, Go Go Go! And he looked at her.
His legs folded, and he fell, and felt his face smashing into the dirt.
He was very small. He didn't understand.
“Mommy... Where's Daddy?” Gordon asked, head cocked.
“Daddy had to go.” She whispered. Gordon could see the tears dripping freely from her eyes.
“Mommy, are you OK?”
“Go talk to John, Gordon. Tell him Mommy wants him.”
Gordon ran up the stares in his microscope pajamas.”Jooooooooooohn!” He wailed. “Mommy wants yoooooooooooouuu!”
John's face appeared in the dorway. “Gordie, it's two in the morning! Mom wants me now?”
“Yeah! I think it's about Daddy. But she's real sad. Can you cheer her up, John?”
“About... Dad?” John said slowly, eyes wide. “Gordon, go to sleep.”
That sent alarm bells ringing in Gordon's head. John never called him Gordon unless something bad happened. He always called Gordon Gordie.
“John... ask Mommy if I can listen too!”
“Gordon. Go. To. Sleep.” John said. His face was tense, and his his eyes were like nightmares, dark and frightening. He ran down the stairs. Gordon stood there for a moment, face pale, and his brown hair seemed to wilt. He seemed cold, even in the sky-blue and microscope pj's. He crept down stairs quietly.
“John... Remember how I told you your father was in danger?”
“Yes... I do.”
“At his job. He was sucked into an experimental portal, at his work, Black Mesa.”
“He's alive, right?” John's eyes were glowing, but his face was expressionless.
“... I don't know. No one does... But... we think he's dead.”
Gordon's legs folded, and he slithered silently to the floor, only processing one thing from the conversation... Daddy, who had let him ride on his shoulders... Who was a nice, blue-eyed brown-haired scientist, was dead. He didn't stand up, but slithered slowly up to bed.
“Gordon!” A sharp voice said suddenly. “Gordon!”
“John... Dad... Where...?”
“Gordon, please! Wake up!”
He shook his head. He was crouching, very precariously. “John...Alyx... where's John? Where's John? Where's...”
The face looking at him was a brown unicorn's face. From the show on when John was younger. My Little Pony? Yes. Season six was the one that John had finally lost interest in the show. Gordon thought maybe it had gone on longer, but he just didn't know.
“Who are you? Why are you a pony? Oh my God! You're Fluttershy!” He jabbered, looking at the pony.
Alyx gasped, pointing from him, to Fluttershy, to a lavender unicorn. He recognized her immediately. “Twilight Sparkle!” He cried out in delight. “Ahha! Twilight! What am I doing here? Where are we? Oh, I don't care! Haha!”
He laughed freely, and he said sullenly, “I don't remember, Alyx. I don't remember. Why are we here?”
Alyx was crying. “What's wrong with him? What have you done?”
Twilight Sparkle looked shaken. “Fluttershy told me he was mute... So I fixed his throat. He can speak. And... When he fell, that was an emotional collapse. Something in his mind, his brain snapped.”
“Have I always never been able to speak? I can speak! Mom and Dad told me...” His voice became sullen again.
“Why can I speak again? Make me mute.”
“What can I do?” Alyx raised her muzzle.
“There's the Him. Present-day Gordon Freemane. But, there's also Him the child, innocent, playful Gordon Freemane. Who, apparently, knows who we are.”
“Gordon...” Alyx whispered. “Please. We need to stop the Combine.” He was playing with a leaf.
“Combine?” He stopped in mid-action. “Mommy... She mentioned the Combine!” There was utter hatred etched on his young face now. “They took Daddy. They took him here.”
“Here? Gordon, are you OK?”
“NO!” Gordon screeched, “GET AWAY FROM ME! GET AWAY! I SWORE I WOULD STOP THE COMBINE, BUT THE SQUIRRELS, THEY TELL ME-”
Gordon's legs folded again, and he felt a feeling... of floating away.
There was a flicker. Of a tall, white winged unicorn in a blue suit, carrying a suitcase. The unicorn-pegasus waved a hoof. “Rise and shine, Mr. Freeman. Or should I call you Freemane?” He laughed, and the flicker disappeared. “You should call me son,” Gordon whispered, sinking back, back into the dark. It threatened to take him. It choked him, held his throat, pulling him to the jaws of death like a Barnicle. But Gordon knew this wasn't real. None of it. He slashed through the darkness. His hoof was covered in a soft, dark gray “glove” and he realized- he had his hazmat suit.
It had wings. And now... He heard whispers, in the shadow-filled void, whispers from his family. From Alyx. From everyone he had ever known. Their voices harmonized in a single call- “Keep going, Gordon!” And a child's voice- “Go on, Gordie! You can stay, you can play another day!” Bounding over to him, in human forms, was his adult brother, John, who he knew was dead. And he saw his smaller brother, and his little sister, both who had died at eight years old because of a sickness unknown at the time.
And... They told him to keep going. To fight the darkness inside. He felt a hoof, then wing beats. Celestia? It was a body, the color of the purest white. His father appeared. His father, G-Man. And they flew, beating their wings, out of the -
“Wait a second!” Valkyriepaw jumped as her editor appeared. “G-Man is Gordon's father? What sort of bullshit is that!?”
“It's my story, JGIBB, and if you don't like it, go piss in a hole.” Valkyrie snapped. “I like it the way it is. Gordon having an internal struggle-”
“But. It. Doesn't. Make. Any. Fucking. Sense.” JGIBB said slowly as though the author was an idiot. “Gordon's childhood, maybe. The squirrels, no. Lets see. G-Man as a pony, no. Using the name John Freeman should get you arrested.” JGIBB shook his head as the blue, golden-haired pegasus author hastily typed.
“What are you writing now? If it makes less sense then the crap I just read, you are going to get tons of hate mail. Besides, you forgot to put who started Watching you in the last chapter.”
“Please, JGIBB, go on with your annoying banter elsewhere. I have stuff to write. I promised new Gordon Freemane, and also a new Celestia's Sorrow.”
“Didn't you give up on Celestia's Sorrow?” JGIBB asked innocently. Valkyrie's green eyes shot daggers at JGIBB, and he smiled sheepishly. “Okay, fine. Go on. Write. If you get any hate, I tried to get you to fix it.”
JGIBB waves at you. “See you later everybrony.”
“GET OUT OF MY STORY, YOU-” -void. And Gordon's watched, one last clip of his life. Him, swearing to get back to Black Mesa. To bring his father home.
Alyx's face paled. Celestia sighed as she tapped him.
“I have no idea what he was seeing ever since you and Rainbow Dash saw him fall. I saw Twilight, and Fluttershy. He could speak, then. But his mind rejected me soon after. His subconscious pushed me out of his brain at something. I saw him fall again after the he 'woke up'. Are you sure he's from Earth? That you both are?”
“We killed a headcrab zombie.” Alyx said grimly.
“So. This is how it goes. Once again, the world becomes plagued with beasts from Xen.”
“Again? This happened before?”
“Yes. The portal from 'Black Mesa' lead to our pony world, but also to Xen. Creatures came from Xen to Equestria and to Earth. But had you tried to go in the portal, it would randomly send you to either Xen, or to Equestria.”
Gordon's heart monitor started up insanely, then fluttered back down to a gentle beat.
“He's suffered much mental trauma from seeing a headcrabbed pony.” Celestia said gently. “He will live, but I suspect that neither he nor you can remain in this world for long without dying from mental breakdowns. You have to get home. Equestria is tougher than it looks. Go home, and stop the invasions of Earth, set humans free. And if you must, return here.
“But wait for Gordon. He has had a prophecy. An ancient one I thought had long since expired.”
Well, hello everypony! JGIBB was absolutely correct. I did completely forget to add the name of the new Watchers I have received. Ah well. I PROMISE I will in the next chapter.
Try not to be like JGIBB, pointing out every single flaw. Also, here in this little author's note thing, I am going to answer your questions, because who doesn't have 'em?
And last thing- I was disappointed, because no one offered me a nectarine, which would make these stories come faster. All I need is apple juice, sausages and nectarines, and there we go. Bam, you've got your Gordon Freemane. And for those who didn't find this made much sense, just ask. Ask and I'll reply here <3. Also, one last thing :3 I need a new title art. PLEASE. This one sucks. No offence, if whoever drew this is reading, but I just want it like that. Orange unicorn, brown mane, glasses. And maybe a crowbar.
