Reclamation

Grogar chuckles, “Such confusion, curiosity begging for explanation. Perhaps I should.” The green glow around him picks up, and within a blink, we are all teleported onto the roof of a bell tower.

Mark blinks, “What?”

I nod, “Yeah, I’m still not understanding any of this, really.”

Grogar shakes his head, “What a shame. Very well, allow me to explain. About, say, one thousand five hundred years ago, I was killed by Celestia and Luna. I was their experiment, and they discovered quickly that it was a dangerous experiment.”

I pause, “Wait, when we talked to Nullam, he didn’t mention goats as being one of the original races.”

Mark looks at me, then back at him, “And he also mentioned that their children would be powerful.”

Grogar nods, “Yes, your assumptions are both correct. I am the first born of Celestia. She was five hundred years old, and accidentally fell in love with my father, who did an experiment that sent him to this world. She had five hundred years worth of that special power built up, which was given to me. That is why I am so powerful.”

Mark pauses, “But... she killed you. She killed her own son?”

He nods again, “Yes, she did, and I never saw it coming. Due to my Necromantic powers, I lived a long time. I was twelve hundred years old, and she hosted a party for me in the middle of this very town. So I was caught off guard when she impaled me with her sword, and turned me to ash. She took my skeleton, which survived, and buried me in the deepest catacomb of Canterlot. I was dead.”

I shake my head, “I can’t believe she would do that.”

Mark nods, “Honestly, I can believe she did. It seems exactly like something she’d do.”

I nod back, “I just find it hard to believe she is such a monster. Every day, we get more reason to bring her down.”

Mark grins, “And we will.”

I smile, “Yes, we will. Now, back to Grogar; how’re you back?”

He nods, “Because of you, Love, in a roundabout way. You whispered my name to Celestia, which caused her to worry that I hadn’t fully died the first time. Then, later in that same day, you injured Luna and got blood on her. Thus, with worries in her mind, worries that I had a cloven hoof involved in what you did to Luna, she went to my tomb. She tore my skeleton out of it, and examined every little bit of it. However, as she looked over me, the trace amounts of blood from Luna on her fell onto my skeleton. It reawakened me, and my magic. But she didn’t know that, unless I were to use that magic on something. Thus, I had to bide my time for the perfect moment to return.”

I raise an eyebrow, “And that was the perfect moment?”

He nods, “Yes, it was. Mid Knight was a dead mare walking, I simply accelerated the process. Now, I am back, even if it is in her skeleton. Or perhaps I am not back. Perhaps I am simply a revenant or a lost spirit. But I do know one thing; I am here for revenge.”

I smile, “Well then, Grogar, we’re the group for you.”

He nods again, “Yes, I believe you are. First order of business is to reclaim my true body, so I can be at full power. The second order is to find a new bearer for Loyalty and Kindness, seeing as their bearers are dead. Then, it is your show.”
