Solaire And His Sun

A Shining World

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Solaire's first image in this new world was ironically enough.. The sun. Solaire was lying on his back, awaking from the rough toss from the portal onto the floor. He had to put a hand up to his eyes to protect them, as the sun was so bright. Much different than the sun he was used to.

"Where have I been taken?" Solaire asked himself, as he immediately pushed himself up onto his feet, and unsheathed his Sunlight Sword. He reached for his back, only to find that his shield was missing. No matter, he was still able to fend off any dangers of this new place with just his sword.

Though the surrounding scenery was.. interesting. He was surrounded by white shining brick and tile, and the sky was bright blue. His eyes then took in the surrounding creatures. Four legged ones.. Horses.

"Could I have truly gone insane? Is this the illusion hollows are forced to witness?" He asked aloud, though his helmet muffling his words. The horses, or, ponies, since they were smaller, were looking at him in fear. Many of them ran off with elegant dresses and suits. He didn't make much sense of it, but gave a laugh.

"I have truly gone insane! This is outrageous. Who could believe something so.. impossible?" He said, keeping his sword up still. He wondered if perhaps he should stab himself with his sword. That would stop his madness, and even if the world seemed beautiful, it wasn't real. He readied his sword, pointing the blade to his stomach before he heard:

"Stop!"

A female voice. One of concern and worry. His gaze turned to his left, to see a much taller pony, her fur white, and wearing a crown. Her mane and tail flowed through the air seemingly flawlessly. His eyes had widened, trying to take in what he was seeing. He also saw the picture of.. a sun on her flank.

Solaire put his sword down, and sheathed it slowly, not taking his eyes off her. Was this real?

"The true goddess of sunlight?" He asked quietly, as he gazed into her eyes now. He suddenly realized he should speak, and try to make sense of the situation. Perhaps this quest was not going to die just yet! Perhaps..

"Ahehm-.. I am Solaire of Astora, a Warrior of Sunlight!" He declared to her, his voice sounding proud of the statement. He was proud, and had always been proud up until those evil thoughts came creeping into his mind. Now, he took all that shame and disbelief in his quest away, and felt invigorated again.

Celestia stared at the creature that had appeared from thin air. She was simply admiring the guests of the castle out on the balcony, where many seats and tables were being used. She wanted to make small talk until suddenly, everypony began to run. As she had turned her gaze towards what the guests were staring at, she was him. The creature, bearing what seemed to be armor, and a picture of a sun on his chest.

A warrior of sunlight, he said. Well, he did have a sun plastered onto his chest, and seemed to be entranced by the sight of her. Perhaps he was some sort of weird stalker from another land. It wouldn't have been the first case this happened.

"Hello, Solaire of Astora, Warrior of.. sunlight. I am Princess Celestia. What business do you have here?" She asked, obviously confused on why he was at the castle in the first place. Why did he show up out of the blue? Why did he point a sword at his chest, seeming to almost commit an act of suicide? Thankfully she was able to stop him.

"I.. don't know. I wish I knew why I was here. I myself are as confused as you may be." The creature said, gesturing with his claws that he didn't know much. Well, perhaps it was a teleportation gone wrong.

"Where are you from? What kingdom? I can send you back safely with a spell." She told him.

"Kingdom..? I come from Lordran, going to the birthplace of Lord Gwyn, lord of Cinder. To find my own sun, that is."

The words he spoke.. Lordran, Lord Gwyn, Lord of Cinder.. None of it rang a bell. Perhaps he was from a smaller, lesser known kingdom? But she certainly would've known someone with the title of 'Lord of Cinder.'

"I do not know of these places you speak about. I do not know of what species you are either."

"I am Undead, of course. I became it, to search for my very own sun. It was the only way." He told her.

"Undead?" She asked.

"Why yes.. I.. assume you don't know much of my kind, nor the place I reside. May I ask where I am?" Solaire asked, hoping to get an idea of where he truly was. Celestia nodded, and spoke:

"You are in my castle." She said.

Her castle? She must be the goddess of sunlight! Maybe not the exact appearance he was expecting, but she looked so beautiful, and her little picture on her flank had a sun on it. And her name, Celestia! This was no mere coincidence. His time of being a warrior of sunlight truly is paying off now.

"Ah.. I do not mean to cause disruption! I was brought here suddenly without my consent. Though, I do quite like the place. Much more.. brighter, than where I am from." He told her, a tone of some sadness coming from him. The world he resided in wasn't one of happy memories, but of all odds stacked against anyone who stepped foot in it. This place he was now in was so bright, that it nearly blinded him no matter where he looked.

If he was to be blinded by the beauty of the sun, it was an honor.

"Perhaps you should come with me and explain who you are and where you are from in detail somewhere nicer. And, I please ask of you, to not take out your sword." She asked him politely. Of course he was going to oblige, why wouldn't he? He was to do as the sun asked.

Author's Note

Whooo! Solaire found a reason to live!

This is a much better outcome than what originally might have become of him.
