Talks of a Dark World

Celestia had seated him upon the royal dining hall, asking him if he would like anything to eat. He had responded with no politely, and still had his helmet on. It was polite to take your helmet off in the dining hall, and this Solaire definitely did not know this. She didn't hold it against him though, and politely told him.

"Uhm.. Solaire, I do request everyone to take off hats and helmets in the dining hall. If you could, that would be much appreciated." She said in a polite tone, a smile still on her face. Solaire nodded to her, and took off his helmet. Underneath was a blonde haired.. something. He looked nice though.

"I'm very sorry for not knowing sooner. I have simply had that helmet on for so long that, I forgot what it felt like without it on my head. Any longer, and it would have grown into my skin!" Solaire had said with a hearty laugh. He seemed happy, and had a big smile on his face. His eyes kept gazing at her features, and she couldn't tell if she should be flattered or creeped out.

"You said you were from a place called.. Lordran? Birthplace of.. Gwyn, or something of the sort. Can you explain where you are from? I'm not familiar with such a place." She said in her familiar royal professional tone. She hated it, but contact with another creature not known means first impressions are everything.

"Ah, yes! Lordran, as I was searching for my very own sun. Birthplace of Lord Gwyn, the Lord of Cinders. I.. Don't think i'm in the same world as I was in before. To begin with, the sun was not as bright as it is here, and everything here seems more alive than.. well, undead. Perhaps my universe had collided with yours. I already like it here. Nothing has tried to kill me and take my humanity from me, so over all, very nice."

"Ah.. Your.. world seems dark. It would make sense if you are truly from a different world. I've never seen your kind before, nor heard any of the places you have talked about. I've been just about everywhere in this world and none of what you say makes sense to me." She said, a small chuckle coming out of her. "I don't mean to sound rude! Simply that any other pony would think your delusional."

Solaire knew she didn't mean to be hurtful with her words, so he took it in the nicest way possible. He smiled at her still, and she spoke up once more.

"You seem to be.. fascinated with the sun. You have a picture of it on your armor, and you keep talking about finding your own sun. What does any of it mean?" She said politely.

"After discovering the beauty of the sun when I was small, I was enthralled with its brightness in my dark world. I knew that I was to worship it. It is so beautifully bright and magnificent, a mark in the sky that was always to shine no matter the circumstances. I became undead, as I am now, to search for my own sun. Many thought I was crazy, but I continued on. I became a Warrior of Sunlight, the insignia showing on my armor, and helped others in their times of need. I know many were not able to understand why I was so fascinated with the sun, so in their time of need, I became their sun. I became that shining light that came to help them." He said, taking a small coin out of his pocket.

"With each success, I give anyone I help this. A sunlight medal." He said, putting it on the dining table and pushing it to her. It was made of gold, with the same insignia on his chest on the coin.

"I know that I can not help everyone, and I fail at times. Though, I continue. To be the suns warrior, you must not let yourself be consumed by the darkness, the abyss. I almost faltered.." He said with a more sad tone. His eyes dropped down to his feet, before he brought his hand up and set them onto the table, almost as if thinking of all the things his hands had done.

Celestia stared at him, and gave a smile, trying to lighten his mood.

"You sound like you were truly a warrior of sunlight. Your words are inspiring, and i'm sure those that you have helped have been thankful to have someone as bright as you in their world." Celestia told her thoughts truthfully. What he had said inspired her, and made her think of something she never really thought of before. She raised the sun everyday. Did the other ponies see her moving the sun into the sky as moving as he thought of it? She could only hope something like that. With each compliment of the sun he gave, it felt like a compliment to herself.

"Why thank you. You seem to be quite the bright one yourself. I see you bear the insignia of the sun just like myself. Are you a warrior, or a disciple of the sun?" Solaire asked.

"Not exactly. I raise the sun into the sky every morning. I control it, and I take care of the day-duties around the castle." With what she had said, Solaire's eyes began to widen. He then looked at her with a burst of joy.

"So you are the goddess of sunlight! I knew it. Ever since I first saw you, you seemed unbelievably beautiful, just as the sun itself! I will always be honored to have met you!" He told her, scooting the chair he sat on backwards and taking a knee, raising his hand slightly, palm up, in a sort of praying stance.

Celestia was.. stunned, to say the least. He really was complimenting her now, and he seemed to be honored to meet her. Most ponies were but, this seemed different. Like letting a pony know that their life purpose was truly fulfilled, and meant something.

"I.. am not the goddess of sunlight Solaire." She said with a nervous laugh. "You can get up now. I truly enjoy your compliments, but I am definitely not any goddess. I'm a princess."

"Princess of sunlight, i'm very sorry to mistake you with another title! It wont happen again."

Celestia chuckled a bit more, but Solaire seemed completely serious. She knew that she wouldn't be able to convince him of anything else so, she went on with it. It was the easiest thing to do and, would cause less trouble for the both of them.

"I must say that you would definitely be a good help to boost morale around the castle. These past few weeks have been hitting the staff and soldiers quite harsh as of late. If you're willing, you can stay in the castle. I'll have you assigned to a guest room, and you'll have free reign to roam the halls and rooms. But, I don't think i'll be able to allow you to leave the castle yet. Things need to be signed and, double signed, before being sent through processing to be signed once again."

"Of course i'd love to stay here. I'll be glad to be your flame, and brighten up this world more than it already is." He said with a smile still plastered onto his face.

"Great. I'll have one of the guards escort you to the lobby to get assigned a room. I'll request you to come speak with me after that, as i'm busy with other things for the day. You'll have to excuse me." She said politely, as she stood up and requested a guard to come.

"Escort.. wait, Solaire, do you have a title?" She asked him.

"A title..?"

"Something in front of your name. Would you preferred to be called Mister or.. Knight?"

"No no, just Solaire is fine. Formality isn't necessary."

"Escort Solaire to the lobby, and get him assigned a guest room. No fee, and no day limit. Have them send me the receipt of the checking and i'll have it signed as a royal order." The guard in front of her nodded, and then turned to Solaire.

"Follow me please, Sir." The guard said, as he began to walk off into a corridor. Solaire followed, taking his helmet and putting it back on. Before he disappeared out of the room, he turned to Celestia and stopped in his tracks, putting both his arms into a Y shape, and murmuring something to himself, before following the guard again.

"What a strange person.." Celestia told herself.
