Somewhere in the griffin kingdom, near the borders of equestria.
“Stone,” One of them called out to his buddy behind him. “It’s over here.” He waved a hoof over towards bar named ‘The Black Feather’. The stallion was light green with a medium sized black mane and tail, eyes the same color as his coat and he wore the same jacket with the skull in the back. His name was Cypher and, like Razor, he was part of the Bloody Skulls.
Cypher was the tactition and strategist of the group. His role was to use the information he got from his companions to form plans on the how and where to attack. He was also the one who performed the communication spell.
“Hold your horses (haha) Cypher, I’m coming.” Said Stone Mountain. Stone was the biggest stallion of the two. Actually, he could be the biggest stallion EVER. He was black coated and bald with a brown goatee and tail and red eyes that can make you frightened in a second. He, also, wore the jacket that his friend had.
Stone Mountain is the tank, as he describes it, of the skulls, the strength, the ones who lets his hoofs (fists) do the talking. Before joining the team, Stone Mountain was royal guard. The best one there was. In fact he was the captain of the royal guard. But as Captain, Stone could only do certain things that were allowed like locking criminals in cells instead of executing them so they couldn’t cause more trouble and talking to them without hurting them to get information instead torturing them. This caused him to get annoyed and eventually he quit the job, to be replaced with Shining Armor, his rival since day 1 in the academy.
Upon reaching the entrance of the bar with Cypher by his side he asked. ”This is where the reinforcements are?”
“Not just the reinforcements,” Cypher answered in a matter-of-fact, not taking his eyes off of the bar. “But also the weapon storage.”
Confusion crept through Stone when he said that. “Why would those damn birds put a weapon storage in a bar?”
“Stone you have to remember that some of these ‘birds’, as you call them, are smart.” Cypher said while turning to Stone. “If they put it there then nopony would suspect a thing. Plus it’s a bar for griffins; no guard would want anything to do with them.”
“But let me guess, we do?” Stone asked in both predictability and slight annoyance. After all, it wasn’t the first time they did this.
Cypher chuckled. “Exactly, but the only difference is we’re not guards.” He walked up to the door. “C’mon, we have work to do.” The stallion opened the door with Stone on his tail.
When they got in they saw that every griffin inside stopped what they were doing and looked at them in anger. Cypher and Stone looked around at the inside of the bar.
It was a sickly green from the combination of the paint used on the walls and the light that reflected off of it. On the right of the bar there were 4 tables where, on each, sat 2 griffins with smokes on their claws and drinks on the table. Besides them, there 2 other griffins playing darts with one of them still holding a dart in his claw while looking at the duo. On the corner of the bar was 2 white doors labeled ‘Man’ and ‘Woman’, the bathrooms obviously. On the left was the counter with chairs that were too small for Cypher and Stone because of the body structure of griffin being bigger than ponies. Another griffin, behind the counter, was also looking at them in anger while wiping a glass with a white wash cloth. Behind the griffin were all sorts of drinks stacked on top of the shelves; vodka, tonic, gin, but no cider.
‘Figures,’ Cypher thought. ‘They hate ponies so they don’t use their cider.’ Making their way towards the counter the griffins kept their glare on the duo, even the bartender.
Reaching it they stood on their hindlegs and put their forelegs on the surface of the counter for balance. The bartender, seeing this, placed the glass along with the others walked up to them, still with the hateful glare, and stood there, not saying anything.
Stone broke the silence between them. “Scotch.”
“Jack on the rocks for me.” Cypher said. The bartender didn’t say anything as he turned to pick up the bottles of scotch and jack daniels and pouring them on two glasses.
Meanwhile, the duo was ‘thinking’ among themselves.
‘I don’t get it,’ thought Stone in confusion. ‘Why haven’t they attacked us yet?’
‘Either we’re in the wrong place, which is highly unlikely, or they’re waiting for something.’ Cypher heard the sound of what seemed like a door being shut. His expressions, however, didn’t change. ‘Get ready for a bar fight.’
Stone smiled at this; It’s what he wanted to do ever since he came in. ‘When?’
By this time the bartender had given them their respective drinks and turned around. Stone grabbed his glass (They can do that, get off my case) and drank the whole thing in one gulp.
Cypher also grabbed his scotch, but instead of gulping it down, he took a sip while paying close attention to the griffin bartender who was busy with putting the bottles of liquor back into their rightful places on the shelf. Stone put the glass on the counter when he finished it with an audible thud and wiped his mouth with his right hoof.
‘You still haven’t answered my question.’ Stone thought to Cypher who kept his gaze on the bartender, watching his move very intently. The griffin, not knowing the colt was watching him, grabbed a bottle of vodka by the top, swiftly turning around to strike Stone.
‘NOW!’
