Chapters Fluttershy yawned and was about ready to go to bed for the night. All of her animal friends were fast asleep, or simply relaxing. Taking care of all of those animals is time consuming, but she enjoys it so much, she wouldn't have it any other way. Right when she was ready to enter her bedroom, her vision was surrounded by a bright rainbow-colored light, shining from outside her window. She jumped and shrieked in horror, as the light dissipated.
"Oh my. What was that Rainbow light?" She questioned herself, "Should I go outside and check?"
Fluttershy pondered the question for a brief moment, before finding the courage to walk to her front door and gently open it. To her slight surprise, there was a small unconscious creature lying out in front of her. What could this possibly be? She gently picked the creature up and inspected it.
"Oh my," Fluttershy gasped in excitement, "I've never seen such an adorable animal like this before. The poor thing. Why was it out alone in the dark cold? Did that rainbow light have something to do with this?" Fluttershy pondered to herself for a brief moment, before taking the creature inside, "I'll figure it out later. For now, I better take this little dear inside and warm it right up."
Fluttershy flew straight to her couch and gently placed the creature on a soft cushion. The creature made an adorable noise, as it tossed and turned, causing the pegasus to coo.
"It's like an adorable, little, hairless ape. I wonder if it's a rare species of one," She mumbled, as she gently touched the soft hairless skin, only to gasp when it felt cold.
She quickly rushed to a closet and grabbed a blanket. After gently wrapping it in it, the creature smiled and made a noise of contentment.
"I may not know what exactly you are, little one, but like the rest of my animal friends, I will take good care of you," She assured the sleeping creature, before giving it a quick kiss on its forehead, "I better get to sleep. I can inspect and meet my new animal friend tomorrow. I always wanted to take care of a primate. I didn't expect to find one I don't know about," She muttered, before going on her way to bed.
It was the next morning, when Marcus, our young human stirred and yawned, while wrapping around his soft blanket. He finally opened his eyes and was stunned to find himself in a cozy little cottage. He looked around and noticed a bunch of adorable animals walking around, including squirrels, bunnies, and even a bear. Wherever he was, the owner must really be an animal lover. A few of the animals even stared at him in curiosity. Unable to handle the cuteness of the various animals, he gently pulled himself from the couch and moved closer to them. A couple bunnies quickly began to nuzzle his face, making him giggle.
"Awake little one?" A soft voice asked.
Marcus turned around and was stunned to see a yellow flying pony enter the room. He gasped at the sight of her yellow wings. What are flying ponies called again? He recalled a book someone read to him on mythical characters and remembered the name pegasus.
"Don't be scared little one," The yellow pegasus assured him with a gentle smile, before flying down to him.
Marcus gently got up on his two legs and realized that at full height, he barely reached the top of the pegasus's legs. The pegasus gasped and cooed when she realized the same.
"Aren't you an adorable little one?" She gushed, "Though, not many creatures are bipedal. You are turning out to be a rarer find than I first thought. I wonder what kind of animal you are?"
"I'm a human."
"Y-You can talk?!" The pegasus asked completely stunned, before she smiled brightly, "Oh this is amazing! You turned out to be an amazing find. A new animal friend that can actually talk to me."
"Animal friend?"
"Yes, I take care of many different animals, as I am sure you noticed. Big or small it doesn't matter to me. Even if I've never heard of them before," She answered enthusiastically, "Where did you come from, little human? Last night after a rainbow light, I found you passed out at my front door, and I took you in."
"I was at my orphanage, about to go to sleep, when out of nowhere I saw a strange Rainbow light around me. That's all I remember."
"You're an orphan?" The pegasus gasped, "You poor thing. You are more than welcome to stay with me. I will take good care of you like all my animal friends."
"Ok?"
"I know it's hard to be taken from somewhere you don't know, but I promise everything will be alright little human," She assured him gently, while lightly rubbing his hair.
"Marcus. My name is Marcus."
"That's a nice name. My name is Fluttershy, little one. It's so nice to meet you. Now, would you like some breakfast? What do humans eat?"
"Would eggs be ok?"
"Sure, little one. My chickens provide great eggs, and I will make them delicious, " She told him with a gentle smile, "How do you like your eggs?"
"Sunny side up."
Fluttershy happily cracked a couple eggs and placed the yolks on the pan. Marcus, her little human, was turning out to be unlike any other animal she cared for. He could actually talk in her language and from their little interactions his species are clearly more than simple animals, if they have the concept of orphans and orphanages. She sighed when she realized he was actually another sapient creature. Despite this though, she still has to take care of him. He has no one left and this won't get in her way of caring for another creature that needs her help. It just means she can't treat him exactly like her other animal friends is all. She can handle caring for him, like he is a colt. A poor lost colt with no one else to take care of him. She carefully turned the yolk, before placing the finished eggs on a plate. She took the plate to Marcus and gave him a gentle smile.
"Here you go little one," She placed the plate on the table and handed him a fork.
"Could I have some bread to scoop up the yolk?"
"Of course, little one," She assured him, before going to get the bread, "After breakfast and I finished feeding my animals, I would like to introduce you to my friends."
"Are they pegasuses like you?"
"The correct word is pegasi," Fluttershy giggled, "Only one of them is another pegasus like me. Two are unicorns and the last two are earth ponies."
"Earth ponies?"
"Oh? They don't have horns and wings."
"So, regular ponies?"
"What do you mean little one? Unicorns and pegasi are normal too."
"Sorry, Ms. Fluttershy, but not where I am from. They don't exist there."
"Oh, my," She gasped, "That sounds like you are from a different world. Not that I am calling you a liar, since you don't know much about what happened to you, but that sounds strange."
"I know, but I swear I'm not lying."
"Well, you are a creature I haven't even heard of before, and as an animal lover I looked extensively at plenty of different zoology books and resources. I guess something else to discuss and figure out with my friends. Anyway, enjoy your breakfast little one. We will figure this out, or at the very least I will take care of you."
"Thank you."
"No problem little one," She responded before gently rubbing his hair, "Enjoy, I'm going to feed my animals. Call me if you need anything."
As Fluttershy took off, she knew that her life had taken a surprising turn. Taking care of animals is her passion and today she now has to tend to one not like any of them. Another sapient creature she hasn't even heard of before, that has on one to take care of him. One that crazily enough seems to be from another world entirely. She and the girls have their work cut out for them to figure this out, but at the very least she has a new special animal friend to take care of.
Author's Note
After so long of neglecting this story that never went anywhere, I decided a reboot would necessary. Don't expect many updates, as my equestria girls fic will still be my main one, but I will try to make sure this reboot won't be left abandoned like the original chapters.
meeting fluttershy's friends
"Ok, sweetie, I am going to take you into town to meet my friends," Fluttershy told him with a gentle smile, before gently lifting him onto her back.
"Ok, Ms. Fluttershy."
"There are going to be plenty of ponies, and they might stare at you, since they haven't seen a creature like you before. If it bothers you, feel free to hide under my mane," She added, before giving him an assuring head rub and going on her way.
The walk to ponyville was peaceful and uneventful. Fluttershy found herself pondering more about her new special animal friend and how her friends were going to react to him. Hopefully, they will like him as much as she does, and they can figure out where he came from and how best to take care of him. They finally entered the town, which was filled with ponies of the three types walking around and interacting. Some of them noticed Fluttershy with Marcus on her back and gave the two curious looks.
"Are the looks too much for you sweetie?" Fluttershy asked him gently.
"I can handle them."
"Ok. It shouldn't be long until we meet my friends. Just hang tight. In fact, we might meet one on the way," She assured him, as she made her way into town.
True enough, not long after they entered town a pink pony with a darker pink poofy mane and tail, bounced right up to Fluttershy.
"Good morning, Fluttershy," She greeted with a smile.
"Good morning, Pinkie. I have someone for you to meet."
"You do?" She asked, bouncing in excitement, "Is it a new pony in town or a new animal friend of yours?"
"A special animal friend. He's currently on my back," Fluttershy answered.
Pinkie gasped when she noticed Marcus sitting on Fluttershy, giving her a curious look.
"Oh! What is he? He looks like a cute little hairless ape! Have you picked a name for him yet?" Pinkie blurted out rapidly in excitement.
"My name is Marcus."
"You can talk!?'" Pinkie exclaimed in shock, before a huge, excited smile formed on her face, "That's awesome! Nice to meet you, Marcus! My name is Pinkie Pie, though you already know that. This is so exciting I made a new friend with a new species that can talk. I can't wait to throw you your welcome to ponyville party!" She blurted out quickly, as she gently rubbed Marcus's hair with her hoof.
"Huh?" Marcus asked.
"Pinkie's happy to meet you and is going to throw you a welcoming party sweetie," Fluttershy explained with a gentle smile, "I am introducing him to the rest of the girls, Pinkie. Want to come with?"
"Of course!" She answered, as she wrapped her hooves around Marcus in a gentle hug and gently nuzzled his face, "You're an adorable little guy!" She cooed, "Yes, you are."
As the two ponies and the human got deeper into town, they heard a familiar voice.
"Watch out below!" A cyan pony with a rainbow mane and tail called out, as she landed somewhat roughly, "Hey girls. What are you two up to?"
"Practicing as usual, Rainbow?" Fluttershy asked softly.
"Of course! The wonderbolts only take the best. Even I have to work hard to one day join them," Rainbow answered, before she noticed Marcus sitting on Fluttershy, looking at her in awe, "Who's that little guy on you, Fluttershy? A new animal friend?"
"A special animal friend."
"Flutters, you say that about every new one," Rainbow rolled her eyes, "So, what is he and have you picked a name for him yet?"
"My name is Marcus."
"What the hay! You can talk!" Rainbow's eyes widened in shock, as she walked closer to him, "Ok, so this time you did find a new special animal friend. He looks like a little hairless ape," She then gave him a cocky smile, "Hello little guy. I'm Rainbow Dash, the fastest flier in Equestria."
"Really? That's so cool!"
"It's better than cool little guy!" She exclaimed proudly, "In fact if you want, I can give you a ride anytime. Just let me know."
"Rainbow, that's too dangerous for him," Fluttershy managed to scold, to everyone's shock.
"Relax, Fluttershy I know when to be careful."
"Well, I suppose if you are careful..."
"Anyway, what are you all up to?"
"We're introducing this adorable little guy to the others," Pinkie answered, as she gave Marcus another hug and nuzzled his face.
"Cool. I have nothing else to do, so I can tag along."
The three ponies and human stumbled upon a fancy looking building.
"Here we are, sweetie. This is the home of our good friend Rarity," Fluttershy explained as she knocked on the door.
After a few moments the door opened, revealing a white unicorn, with an expertly violet curled mane and tail. When she noticed her friends, she gave them a charming smile.
"Hello girls! What a lovely surprise," Rarity greeted them, before she noticed Marcus and gave the group a curious look.
"Hello, Rarity, I have a special new animal friend for you to meet," Fluttershy greeted softly.
"I noticed. What is he? I don't think I have seen any animal like him. Is he some kind of hairless ape?"
"I'm Marcus and I'm a human."
Rarity jumped in complete shock and shook nervously, making Rainbow chuckle.
"Oh! This is a surprise," Rarity mumbled, after regaining her composure, before glaring at Rainbow, "Hello, little darling, like I'm sure you heard, my name is Rarity," She told him, as she walked closer to him, before she gasped, when she noticed how small and adorable, he looked, "Aren't you a precious little darling. It's really nice to meet you."
"You should have seen him earlier, Rarity. While standing on his two legs, he could barely reach the top of my own," Fluttershy gushed with a cute giggle, making Marcus blush in embarrassment and Rarity giggle too.
"Aw. Now you are even more adorable, darling," Rarity cooed, before she lightly embraced him and gently rubbed his hair with her hoof.
"Yes, he is," Pinkie agreed with a giggle of her own, before she gently rubbed his hair too.
"Are you three done?" Rainbow asked, before cringing in disgust, "This sappiness is getting on my nerves."
"Come on Rainbow. Even you have to agree the little darling is adorable," Rarity argued, after rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say."
"So, you are introducing him to all of our friends?" Rarity asked.
"Yes, want to come with? We just have to see Applejack and Twilight."
"Yes, I want to see their reaction to our new precious little darling," Rarity answered, as she gently rubbed his hair again.
The ponies and the human arrived at the center in town, where various ponies were doing their daily shopping. Many of them stared in curiosity, when they noticed Marcus sitting on Fluttershy, but were kind enough not to bother the shy pony and her friends. One pony in particular, who was nearly done selling produce before her break, smiled when she noticed the group approaching.
"Howdy girls!" She greeted with a smile, "What brings you all here?"
"Is this a bad time, Applejack. If you are busy, we can come back later," Fluttershy responded softly.
"Naw. I am almost on my break and things are slowing down anyway."
"I wanted to introduce you to a special animal friend I found last night."
"I say. I have never seen such a critter like him before," Applejack commented, as she stared at Marcus, "He looks like a hairless ape. What's his name?"
"My name is Marcus."
"Oh?! Ok, he is even more special than I thought then," She commented, before leaving the stand and walking right up to him, "To be honest he is an adorable little fella," She stated, before gently patting his head with her hoof, "Where and how did you find him Fluttershy?"
"I think we should show him to Twilight and I'll explain there. When's your break?"
"A few minutes. Is it that serious that you have to get her involved?"
"All I will say is, that before him telling me what he was this morning, I have never seen or even heard of his species, and you all know how much I devour books on zoology," Fluttershy answered.
"Yeah, I remember the look on Twilight's face, when you beat her at trivia in that very subject," Rainbow chuckled, making Fluttershy blush lightly in embarrassment and the other ponies chuckle.
The group finally arrived at the town's library and the human was stunned to learn it was a tree. Not like a tree house, but a giant tree as a building. The group quietly entered and stumbled upon a creature the young human had never seen before. It looked like some kind of reptile, and he tried his hardest to figure out what he could be. The creature smiled when he noticed the ponies.
"Hello girls. Twilight is doing some light reading. I will tell her you're all here."
"Thanks Spike," They all said in unison.
Marcus watched Spike walk up the stairs and pondered what more about what he could be. Purple and green scales, with a little tail. He is walking on two legs, and he has claws. Fluttershy and Rarity are fake creatures from his world, so maybe he is one too, but what? After a couple moments it hit him.
"Is Spike a dragon?"
"Yes, sweetie. He's an adorable little baby dragon. Nothing like those huge scary ones," Fluttershy answered.
Before the human could respond, He noticed a purple unicorn, with a dark blue mane and tail, with a purple and pink streak, walking down the stairs.
"Good morning girls. What brings all of you here?"
"Twilight, I wanted to show you a special new animal friend I found last night."
"That sounds nice, Fluttershy. What kind of animal did you..." Twilight paused when she noticed Marcus and her eyes widened, as she took in his form.
She rushed right up to him, making him shake a little in fright.
"I have never seen an animal like him, assuming I am right about his gender, before. Where and how did you find him?" She gently began to levitate him up, making the human cry out in shock, as a purple aura surrounded him.
"What's going on? How am I floating?"
"You can talk?" Twilight asked with her mouth wide open, and she was so stunned, she released the spell, sending him falling down right on top of Fluttershy, "Oh. This is incredible. Fluttershy you discovered a new sapient being. This is legendary. Oh, so many things to learn and record."
"I'm excited about a new creature to learn about too, Twilight, but could you please tone it down a little, if that's not a problem."
"Right," Twilight stated, blushing sheepishly, "Now, where did you find him?"
"Last night right when I was going to bed, there was a rainbow light and despite being scared I looked outside. Right at my front door, I found him sleeping and this morning he said the last thing he remembered was a rainbow light surrounding him at his orphanage."
"He's an orphan?" Pinkie asked crying a little, "That's so sad, but at least he's with you now."
"Yeah, he's my little human and I will take care of him."
"Rainbow light. That sounds unusual, but after the whole nightmare moon thing, I am willing to believe in almost anything." Twilight spoke out loud, "So, you think he is somehow from a different world."
"Yes, before today, I didn't know anything about humans, or even heard of them before and we all know my knowledge of zoology."
"I'm well aware," Twilight responded somewhat bitterly.
Fluttershy only smiled awkwardly in response.
"Well, since he's an orphan and you seem interested in caring for him, I don't see any reason we should figure out a way to return him, unless that is what he wants."
At Twilight's words they all looked at the human.
"I have been waiting too long for a family, I guess I want to stay here," He said, making Fluttershy gasp in happiness and gently lift him off her to give him a light hug.
"Thank you little one. I promise I will take good care of you like a great mother."
"We're all happy for you Fluttershy. Now, I think we should contact Princess Celestia and explain everything to her. That way we can make him a citizen and work out a way for you to adopt him."
"Sounds great Twilight."
"Spike!"
"Come on! I just started reading my latest comic!" Was all the dragon shouted.
Twilight shook her head with a smile, "Colts or baby dragons. They can be a handful; I learned the hard way. Take note Fluttershy."
“Did you really have to interrupt me from reading the latest power ponies comic? I was just getting to the good part!” Spike complained, before grabbing a scroll and quill.
“You can get back to that after you send this quick letter, Spike,” Twilight sighed, before shaking her head, “At least until your chores.”
“Fine, let's just get this over with,” Spike said, before holding the quill to the scroll, “Why are we sending this anyway? It must be important if you interrupted my precious comic book time. Well, it better be, anyway.”
“It’s about Fluttershy’s new special animal friend, Marcus. You didn’t see him?” Twilight responded, rolling her eyes.
“What’s so special about a new pet?”
“He’s more than a pet, Spike. He’s a new sapient species that was sent here from his world, due to a strange rainbow light.”
“Seriously? No way!”
“Yes, way! Now we are going to tell the princess to get him citizenship and have him legally adopted by Fluttershy.
“Can I see him?”
“He’s currently on Fluttershy.”
Spike looked and sure enough was a strange creature he hadn't seen before, sitting on top of the shy mare. Spike gasped at the strange ape-like creature being hugged by Pinkie.
“Alright, I guess this is worth taking a break from my comic,” Spike commented, causing the purple mare to roll her eyes again.
“Good. Ready?”
“Ready.”
“Dear Princess, Celestia, today Fluttershy discovered a new kind of sapient creature. His name is Marcus and according to him he’s a human. He seems to be some kind of hairless ape and he seems to be a young colt of his species. According to him and Fluttershy there was a strange rainbow light that seemed to have brought him here from his world. He is also an orphan and doesn’t want to return to his world and instead Fluttershy wants to adopt him, and I am asking to make him an official equestrian citizen and to legalize the adoption. I will also work on my next friendship lesson later this week. Sincerely, your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle.”
“Isn’t this great, Marky? You are going to have a mommy and wonderful aunts who will take good care of you,” Pinkie told Marcus with a large grin.
“Aunts Pinkie?” Fluttershy asked.
“Yes, Fluttershy. Since you are going to be his mommy, that makes us, your friends his aunts.”
“I guess,” Fluttershy answered.
“Please, I will be the best aunt and treat him with parties and sweets,” Pinkie begged,
“Ok, Pinkie. You can be his aunt.”
“Yippie!” Pinkie cheered, before giving Marcus another hug, “Hear that little guy? As soon as the adoption is official, I will throw you a wonderful party.”
“As soon as this is over with little dude, I will take you on the ride I promised you,” Rainbow told him with a smile.
“Rainbow!” Fluttershy said sternly.
“Relax Flutters, I will be careful. I am not irresponsible.”
“Don’t worry Fluttershy, darling, I will be the responsible aunt he needs to help you out, if I must.”
“Thank you, Rarity,” Fluttershy sighed, “I take care of countless animals, but I know he needs to be treated like a colt. I am not sure if I will do that well, but I need to try.”
“Don’t worry Flutters, you have all of us to help you give the little dude the care he needs.” Rainbow assured her.
“Thank you, Rainbow.” Fluttershy thanked softly.
“Yes, Rainbow, darling, you might actually be more responsible than we thought,” Rarity responded with a smile.
“Yeah… Hey!” She complained, after realizing Rarity was teasing her.
The other mares and even Marcus chuckled at the cyan mare, while she pouted in annoyance. Twilight walked closer to the group with Spike following her.
“I sent the letter. Now we just have to wait for her to respond. Until then feel free to take care of him Fluttershy.”
“Thank you, Twilight,” Fluttershy responded.
Spike walked closer to the human and gently inspected him. He was the strangest creature Spike has ever seen. He didn’t even have fur save for some on the top of his head. He seemed to have claws, but they aren’t as dangerous.
“So, you're the new kid in town?” He asked the human.
“More like, world, but yes.”
“So, I heard. My name is Spike. I am a baby dragon and Twilight’s number one assistant. I suppose seeing you was worth stopping reading my latest comic.”
“Comic?”
“You read comics?”
“Yeah, there were some old used ones at the orphanage.”
“I think we might get along just fine. As long as I don’t miss out on more comic time, because of you we could be good friends.”
In a few minutes Spike burped out a response from the princess and Twilight eagerly grabbed it and opened it.
“Let’s see. Dear Twilight, I have to admit your letter was a complete surprise. I am more than willing to fulfill both of your requests, but I would like to see Marcus myself. I will be arriving tomorrow, since I know you would go crazy preparing and will give you time. This discovery could be legendary. I trust you and your friends will be able to take care of him until I arrive, and we discuss how to handle this situation. Sincerely, Princess Celestia, “Twilight read out, before frowning slightly, “I don’t go crazy preparing for her. What is she talking about?” She questioned, before noticing amused looks on the others, “What?”
“I didn’t know the princess has a sense of humor,” Rainbow commented with a chuckle, “Oh and you kind of do Twilight. During our hangouts you usually brag about her. I get it, the princess is awesome. Maybe as awesome as me, since she has a good sense of humor, but you do go overboard.”
The other mares nodded in agreement.
“She’s right, Twilight. We all love the princess and all, but you gush like a little school filly with a crush.”
“I do not!” Twilight snapped, blushing hotly.
“Anyway, I am happy to hear she is going to help us,” Fluttershy said with a smile, “Now if there isn’t anything else, I would like to take Marcus home. It’s almost lunch time and I must tend to my animals.”
“Sure thing, Fluttershy. Come back here first thing tomorrow for the meeting,” Twilight responded.
Fluttershy simply nodded.
“See you tomorrow, Marky,” Pinkie told him, before giving him one last hug.
“Like Pinkie said see you tomorrow, darling,” Rarity added, before giving him a hug of her own.
“See you little dude,” Rainbow told him, before giving him a gentle head rub.
“Yeah, sugarcube. Everything will be sorted out and you will finally be part of a family,” Applejack assured him, before gently rubbing his head like Rainbow.
“Maybe when this is over and I have free time, we can play together,” Spike suggested.
“Great idea Spike. He should make friends around his own age and learn about friendship. I might be willing to cut down your chores, if you help him with that, Spike.”
“More free time? Awesome. You really are going to be a great friend,” Spike told him with a huge smile.
“Spike, this is serious. I want you to help teach him friendship,” Twilight told him sternly.
“And I can do that while having fun. Isn’t that part of friendship?”
“He got you there, Twilight,” Rainbow commented with a chuckle.
“Yes, I suppose he has a point,” Twilight conceded, before walking up to the human and gently patting him on the head, “Like the others said, we will finally help you get a family and get you sorted into a new great life here in Equestria.”
Later that night Marcus was feeling tired and gently rubbed his eyes, before yawning.
“Tired?” Fluttershy asked him softly.
He simply nodded.
“I don’t quite have a bed for you yet and I don’t think you should use the couch again. You can share with me until then, if that is ok with you.”
He simply nodded again, before he slowly drifted off to sleep. Fluttershy managed to catch him before he fell to the floor.
“He really was tired,” She began with a giggle, “Now to get you to bed.”
She gently carried him to her bedroom and laid him on her bed. She covered him with the blanket and gently kissed his forehead.
“Goodnight little one. I will join you after checking the rest of my animal friends.”
Fluttershy left the bedroom with a smile on her face. She never thought she would end up becoming a mother, especially to a new sapient species, but she was happy to find she actually prefer it, compared to taking care of a young pony. It was kind of like taking care of her other animals, but in a more special way. She pondered how the meeting with the Princess will go. She shook her head. Everything will turn out fine and the adoption will become official, and she and her friends will finally give this poor human a family.
Author's Note
Now that I am done with the anniversity stuff for equestria girls the introvert, I can now focus on this fic again.
Becoming a citizen and meeting a princess
Fluttershy gently yawned and woke up with the feeling of something soft embracing her. She smiled when she noticed Marcus, her little human, gently cuddling her. She found herself liking the feeling of his soft skin on her fur. Marcus suddenly yawned adorably, making the pegasus cooed.
“Aw! Aren’t you an adorable little one? You remind me of Angel when he gets into one of his clingy moods,” Fluttershy spoke softly, before giving him a gentle kiss on the forehead.
Marcus gently stirred and opened his eyes to find himself staring into big beautiful blue eyes staring at him like a mother would. He paused when a vague mostly forgotten memory formed in his mind of his birth mother looking at him the same way.
“Good morning, Marcus. I see you slept well,” Fluttershy told him softly with a smile.
Marcus could only nod in agreement.
“We have a big day ahead of us. Shall we eat breakfast, and we can go to Twilight’s to meet with the Princess?”
Fluttershy with Marcus riding on her approached the library. She gently knocked and waited patiently for someone to open the door. After a few seconds, Spike opened the door with a sheepish smile.
“Hello, Fluttershy and Marcus! Glad to see you decided to come early. Twilight is making last minute preparations,” Spike began before sighing, “Hard to believe she would plan ahead to prepare for her, only to still take up to the very last second to do so.”
“Thank you Spike,” Fluttershy simply responded, before being led in.
Inside the pony, dragon, and human saw the purple mare looking over a long scroll, before she finally nodded.
“Alright Spike. I think everything is perfect now,” Twilight announced with a smile, “Now to just wait for the others. Oh. Fluttershy and Marcus. Thank you for coming early. Feel free to make yourselves comfortable until she arrives.”
“Thank you, Twilight,” Fluttershy simply responded, before looking around the place.
The library appeared to have been reorganized several times and everything seemed to have been cleaned to the point of insanity. Fluttershy simply sat down on the floor.
“There’s something I wanted to talk to you about before she and the others get here,” Twilight spoke up.
“Yes, Twilight?”
“I was hoping you would let me run tests on him to find out more about him, since he’s young and likely only knows the basics about his kind.”
“Are you going to hurt him?” Fluttershy asked bitterly to Twilight’s surprise.
“Of course not! I can be gentle with children, and it would be best if we find out more about him in case of complications. Like any pony diseases being more harmful towards him to name an example.”
“I see your point. Ok, but I get to be there and make sure,” Fluttershy agreed with a sigh.
“Don’t worry I will be gentle,” Twilight agreed with a nod.
Before the two could talk more there was a knock on the door.
“Must be at least one of the others,” Twilight mumbled before going to the door.
Twilight opened the door, revealing Pinkie Pie with a small white box in her hooves.
“Hello, Pinkie. Fluttershy and Marcus are here, if he’s the one the box is for,” Twilight told the energetic party pony.
“Great! I wanted to show him a sneak peak of what to expect from his welcome to equestria new sapient species getting adopted by Fluttershy party.”
“Well, at least you are combining it all in one huge party with a long but comprehensible name,” Twilight mumbled.
“Of course. I thought well, I could throw three regular parties, but didn’t want to take up too much space from others and thought no he deserves a better party, so I figured just throw a super-duper party for all three things!”
“I am sure we all will enjoy that. Come on in,” Twilight responded with a smile.
Twilight led Pinkie to the group, before Pinkie bounced to the human sitting on the floor next to Fluttershy.
“Good morning, Marky! In honor of you being a new species here in ponyville and being adopted by Fluttershy, I am throwing you a super-duper party. To hold you off until then I made you some sneak peek cupcakes,” Pinkie greeted the human, before gently rubbing his hair with her hoof.
“Thank you,” was all the human simply said before opening the box and taking a cupcake.
“Yes, thank you Pinkie. I am sure he will like that,” Fluttershy gently said with a small smile.
It wasn’t long until the others arrived and after gently cleaning frosting off Marcus’s face and throwing the empty box away, Fluttershy smiled and nodded at Twilight.
“There. Cleaned up and ready for the princess.”
Right in time too, as there was suddenly a flash of light. Marcus found himself gasping as the biggest pony he had ever seen appeared in front of his eyes. She had white fur with a long blue, green, and pink mane and tail. The most stunning thing about her was she had both a long horn and big wings that were currently folded. To complete the look of royalty she had a crown and golden shoes on her hooves.
“Greetings my little ponies!” She greeted all of the ponies that were currently bowing, before she stared at Marcus, “And my little human.”
“Hello princess,” All the mares greeted.
“Since you were the one who found him Fluttershy could you explain what happened?” The princess asked softly.
The pegasus was asked so softly she found herself able to explain.
“Well, two nights ago while I was getting ready for bed, I saw a Rainbow light and managed to find the courage to investigate. That’s when I found him. Thinking he was a new animal to care for, I brought him inside,” Fluttershy began with a smile, before sighing, “Sadly the next day after learning he is more than a simple animal, I learned he’s an orphan who somehow got transported from his world due to mentioned rainbow light. That’s why I want to adopt him, so he will finally have a family.
“I see and my student did write to me about how your knowledge of zoology surpasses hers and since she could rival some of the well-known zoologists in Equestria, that is impressive,” Celestia began with a small grin, as most of the ponies chuckled, while Twilight lightly groaned and Flutetrshy sheepishly smile, “Impressive enough I am more than happy to grant your adoption and making him an Equestrian citizen in order to make it legal, as long as you analyze and learn more about him. As much as you possibly can. I know Twilight will help you with that.”
Fluttershy simply nodded in response, before Celestia approached the human, looking at her in awe. She gave him a gentle smile, before she gently levitated him up into her hooves. Marcus was so stunned by her appearance that he didn’t notice until all he could see was a pink, blue, and green mane all over his vision. He shook a little in fright.
“It’s ok little one. I won't hurt you. I just wanted to get a closer look at you,” Celestia assured him softly with a gentle smile.
Marcus found himself quickly calming down due to her soft voice and soft fur, due to her gently embracing him.
“Aren’t you an adorable little one. You may be a different species, but you remind me so much of my little colts,” She gently nuzzled his face, “Let me be the first to welcome you as an Equestrian citizen. I will be sure to give both Twilight and Fluttershy the paperwork to make it official.”
“Thank you,” Marcus responded.
“Anything for you my little human. Now, be sure to have a happy and fun childhood and remember despite not being a pony, you are still one of my citizens and will be treated the same way.”
After the meeting and making things more official, Pinkie rushed up to the group.
“Are you done yet, so I can throw the party now?” Pinkie asked, practically jumping in place.
“Yes, Ms. Pie,” Celestia chuckled with a grin.
Celestia loves all of her little ponies, but she has really enjoyed meeting and getting to know Pinkie Pie. The energetic mare really knows how to make things more fun and humorous.
“Yes, Pinkie. Now that we are done filling it out. It’s official, so go ahead and plan it,” Twilight added with a small smile.
“Yippie! I will go do it now!” Pinkie exclaimed before giving Marcus a quick hug, “Get ready little guy for the best party you ever had.”
Pinkie quickly went on her way while the other ponies simply smiled at the excited party pony. Rainbow rushed right up to Marcus with a grin on her face.
“Well, little guy you are one of us now. Now I can give you a ride and maybe show you how to be awesome like me.”
“Rainbow,” Fluttershy said with a sigh.
“Yeah, yeah. I will be careful.”
Applejack was next to walk to the human.
“I have a little sister around your age. Maybe the two of you can be friends.”
“A great idea Applejack. Getting him friends already will help him before starting school,” Twilight responded with a smile.
“How lovely. I have been planning on setting Sweetie Belle up with some friends. We can help the two of them together,” Rarity added with a smile of her own.
“Well sweetie looks like your life is already changing for the better,” Fluttershy told him with a smile, while gently nuzzling him.
Marcus could only nod in agreement. Hard to believe a rainbow light sending him to a world filled with different talking ponies, most of which are mythical creatures from his world, would be how he would end up getting a family, but he certainly won’t complain.
The next day, Fluttershy was gently carrying Marcus to the library. Unknown to the human, Pinkie told her that the party would start first thing in the morning as a surprise. Knowing Pinkie, by then the whole town would be at the library and Fluttershy found herself pondering how the rest of the town would treat her precious little human.
“Ready to visit Twilight, sweetie?” Fluttershy asked him.
“Yes, why are we going there?”
“You will see when we get there,” Fluttershy answered softly with a gentle smile.
Marcus simply nodded, as they continued on their way. It wasn’t long until they reached the library and Fluttershy gently knocked. The only sound inside was mumbling, before a loud shush silenced it.
“Must be busy. Well, since she is expecting us and we are friends, might as well enter,” Fluttershy said with an awkward smile.
The two entered the library, to find it was completely dark. Marcus shook in fright for a brief moment and gently hugged the back of Fluttershy’s head for comfort.
“Don’t worry sweetie. I am sure the light switch is here,” She assured him, before gently rubbing his head.
Normally, Fluttershy would be freaking out herself, but her motherly side overwhelmed her fears, so she could be brave for Marcus and assure him. It wasn’t long until Fluttershy found the light switch and quickly turned the lights on.
“Surprise!”
To Marcus’s complete surprise, there were a bunch of ponies surrounding him with cheerful smiles on their faces. He barely noticed a pink blur rushing past the crowd and stopped in front of him and Fluttershy, with a cheerful smile on her face, as she bounced in one spot.
“Did we surprise you? Did we?” Pinkie repeated in an excited tone.
“Yes, Pinkie you did,” Fluttershy answered with a little smile, “Thank you for throwing this.”
“It’s my pleasure!” Pinkie exclaimed, before walking up and giving Marcus a gentle hug, “Anything for Pinkie’s adopted nephew. Oh, we are going to have fun!”
“Come on Sweetie. Let’s go meet with the others and have fun from there,” Fluttershy suggested.
Marcus simply nodded with a small smile on his face.
Pinkie gently placed a party hat on Marcus’ head, as they walked right up to the rest of the group, who smiled at them. With them were two little fillies that simply gazed at the human with curious looks on their faces.
“Hello, little dude,” Rainbow greeted as she flew right up to him, “Enjoy, this party is for you and if you want, I will be more than happy to take you on a ride.”
“Rainbow,” Fluttershy simply said with a stern look.
“Like I said before, Flutters. I will be careful.”
“Hello, sugarcube, Rarity and I decided to bring our little sisters to meet you and become friends,” Applejack greeted with a smile.
“That sounds great, Applejack,” Fluttershy responded with a smile, as she gently took Marcus off her back and placed him on the floor.
“Come on, Applebloom. Introduce yourself,” Applejack assured the filly.
One of the fillies slowly and nervously approached the human. She was a light-yellow filly with a red mane that had a large red bow on top of it. When she got closer, Marcus noticed she seemed to be just as tall as him.
“Uh… Howdy my name is Applebloom,” The filly greeted nervously, as she held out a hoof.
“Hi, my name is Marcus,” He greeted awkwardly, before taking her hoof and shook her hand, only to be taken aback by her strength.
Applebloom was shaking his entire body. She quickly let go and Marcus gently rubbed his body as he recovered from that experience.
“Are you ok, sweetie?” Fluttershy asked.
Marcus simply nodded, as he finally recovered. Applebloom looked at him sheepishly and Applejack gave him an apologetic smile.
“Sorry about that, sugarcube. Us Apples are known for their strength, especially with hoof shakes,” Applejack apologized, “Applebloom is starting to grow into her own strength.”
“Now, Sweetie Belle, it’s your turn,” Rarity told the other filly with a gentle smile, before giving her a gentle pat on her mane, “I trust you won’t do the same when you greet him.”
Applejack gave Rarity a dirty look, while Applebloom nervously looked at the floor in shame. Marcus gave her a few gentle pats, causing her to look at him.
“It’s ok I don’t blame you,” He assured her.
Applebloom gently smiled and nodded, before giving him a quick nuzzle, making him chuckle. Applebloom found herself liking the feeling of his soft skin on her fur but stopped when she noticed Sweetie Belle approached them. She was a small white unicorn with pink and purple swirl mane and tail.
“Hi, my name is Sweetie Belle and it’s nice to meet you,” She greeted them nervously, while holding out her hoof.
“Nice to meet you too,” Marcus responded, while shaking it.
When they let go, Sweetie belle reluctantly handed her hoof to Applebloom, who was extra careful not to be too strong with her hoof shake. While she still shook Sweetie Belle, it wasn’t as bad as before.
“Now that you three met each other, why don’t you all go and play some games and eat sweets. Whatever you want,” Pinkie suggested with a grin.
“Just don’t spoil your dinner, Applebloom.”
“You too, Sweetie Belle.”
“Eat all the sweets you want!” Pinkie insisted, giving Applejack and Rarity a dirty look, which was returned.
The two fillies and human, ignored that and decided to do what Pinkie insisted on doing.
Fluttershy took a sip of punch, as she watched Marcus eat a cupcake with the two fillies and was happy to note they seemed to be getting along. It has only been a couple days since he has magically dropped into her life. She has taken care of different animals over the years but has never adopted one that was on the same level as ponies before. He may not be an animal like Angel or Harry, but she was going to take care of him like a good mom.
“Are you ok, Flutters?” Rainbow asked.
“Yes, Rainbow. I just hope things go well for Marcus,” Fluttershy answered.
“Don’t sweat it! He has us now. An awesome mommy and five awesome aunts, especially me,” Rainbow assured her with a grin.
“I suppose you are right,” Fluttershy responded with a small smile.
“Of course, I am right! When have I ever steered anyone wrong?” Rainbow asked with a cocky grin, which quickly faded when her Twilight’s egghead senses tingled, “Don’t answer that egghead!”
Four others chuckled, while Twilight simply shook her head with a smirk on her face. Fluttershy continued to watch Marcus with a smile on her face, as she took another sip of punch.
“Then Rarity threw the dress on the floor and screeched like a foal at ruining what she called, ‘the best dress she has ever made’, despite calling every new one that. By then I was fed up with it and quickly grabbed some hot water to pour on the dress, which easily removed the small amount of dirt from it. You should have seen her face, after realizing how easy it was to fix the problem,” Sweetie Belle told the other two, before laughing hysterically.
The other two quickly joined her. A pink blur suddenly rushed towards the fillies with a curious grin on her face.
“Getting along, you three?” Pinkie asked.
“Yeah, at first I wasn’t sure, but they seem like nice company so far,” Sweetie Belle answered with a smile.
“Same here. When Applejack told me about you, Marcus, and you being a human, I was a little curious, but was also cautious.” Applebloom added with a smile of her own, “I am glad she brought me here, so far.”
“That’s great. Now, what were you three doing?” Pinkie asked them.
“Sharing embarrassing stories about Rarity,” Sweetie Belle answered with a grin.
“You what?!”
Sweetie Belle gulped and turned around, to find an angry Rarity, giving her a stern look.
“I mean telling my new friends how wonderful you are,” Sweetie Belle answered with a nervous smile.
Rarity sighed and shook her head.
“As long as it wasn’t the time, I freaked out a little over some dirt.”
Sweetie Belle chuckled nervously, causing Rarity to groan in frustration.
“You didn’t just freak out a little. You were practically like a foal throwing a tantrum over not getting the toy she wanted,” Sweetie Belle responded with a smirk, after getting courage, since she was busted anyway.
“I… We are going to talk about this when we get home,” Rarity simply told her, before sighing.
“Now that is over. What do you three say, we play some party games?” Pinkie suggested with a smile.
The two fillies and human simply smiled and nodded in response.
“A little to the left, Marcus,” Applebloom told him.
Marcus carefully moved his hand a little to the left.
“Almost, just a little higher,” Pinkie assured him.
He moved it a little up and gently pressed down on it. He took off his blindfold and saw the tail was pretty close on target.
“Well, done! I think this is the closest anyone has ever gotten,” Pinkie assured him, before gently rubbing his head, “I say it’s good enough for the win. Ready for your prize?”
Marcus simply nodded with an eager expression on his face. Pinkie simply smiled back with a grin, before she pulled a rope, causing a small candy rain to land on Marcus and the two fillies. They all chuckled, as they took a piece of candy and placed it in their mouths.
“What do you say folks? Want to give these three a round of applause for a wonderful game?” Pinkie asked, through a megaphone.
Almost every pony cheered, while the two fillies and human continued to eat the candy. Once the rain stopped, they each carried as much as they could carry and found a spot to sit down.
“I have to say, this has been the best party Pinkie has ever thrown,” Applebloom commented with a smile.
“I say. While they are usually fun, this one takes the cake.” Sweetie Belle added.
“Did somebody say cake?” Pinkie asked, carrying three plates with three large slices of cake.
“Going all out, Pinkie?” Sweetie Belle asked.
“Of course! Anything for my adoptive nephews, especially for a mega party that is three celebrations in one. Enjoy you three!” Pinkie answered with a grin, before handing out the plates and disappearing in a pink blur.
“Well, what do you three say? Here’s to a new kind of friendship?” Applebloom asked the group.
Sweetie Belle and Marcus looked at each other with a smile and nodded to Applebloom.
“Here, to a new friendship!” All three cheered, before taking a bite of cake.
Later that night, Fluttershy gently tucked Marcus in their temporary shared bed and gave him a gentle kiss on the forehead.
“Did you have fun, Sweetie?” Fluttershy asked with a gentle smile.
“Yes, I did, mom,” Marcus managed to answer with a yawn, right before passing out.
Fluttershy froze after hearing his response. Mom? Her heart melted at him referring to her as such. She practically took on the role, but to hear him call her that was on a different level. She smiled brightly, before giving him another kiss and gently joined him.
“Good night, sweetie. I am your mother now and nothing is going to change that!”
It has been several days since Marcus’ party and the human has managed to adjust pretty well to his new life in Equestria. Fluttershy gently yawned, before getting out of bed and walked right to Marcus’ own. Since it would take weeks for a bedroom to be added, this was a temporary spot for it.
“Time to wake up, sweetie,” Fluttershy greeted softly, before gently shaking him.
Marcus gently yawned, before wiping his eyes and slowly getting out of bed.
“Good morning, mom.”
“Good morning, sweetie,” Fluttershy greeted back with a gentle smile, “Since you don’t start school until the next school week, I guess we can visit Twilight and play with Spike.”
Marcus simply nodded.
“Now go brush your teeth and after we feed both my animal friends and us, we will pay a visit to Twilight.”
Marcus carefully walked through the large group of bunnies, whom upon noticing the human, stumbled near him. He gently petted a few of them, as he carefully placed food in their bowls in equal amounts. After becoming a permanent resident plenty of the animals have become almost as fond of him as Fluttershy.
“Never thought being around animals all the time would be fun. It’s hard work, but rewarding,” The human mumbled to himself, as the bunnies would spend time trying to cuddle with him, before he left them to their breakfast
Marcus was riding on Fluttershy into town, as per usual. Plenty of ponies openly waved at the two, causing the pegasus to nervously hide behind her mane and for the human to nervously wave back. Finally that died down, as the pegasus got more into the town. She smiled when she noticed her friends talking to one another, but lightly frowned when she noticed Twilight seemed nervous and the others seemed to be arguing with one another. Confused, she quickly and without anyone noticing walked behind them and listened closely.
“Sorry girls I just haven’t decided on who to take with me for the gala.”
Fluttershy gasped as she realized what Twilight must be talking about. She smiled as she imagined her at the private garden with all the wonderful plants and new animal friends to meet. Then she remembered Marcus and frowned at the idea of leaving without him. Not even this opportunity could compare to her new special animal friend. Though perhaps leaving him with a foal sitter won’t be too bad. It will only be for one day Afterall. Then again maybe not since it feels too soon to leave him, even if it’s just for a day.
“Um… Girls?” Fluttershy asked.
The others shook a little, only to calm down and even facehoof when they realized they were spooked by Fluttershy of all ponies.
“Um… Sorry for scaring you all,” Fluttershy apologized.
The girls simply looked at each other and came to the agreement that they wouldn’t speak of this again, though Rainbow would forever be shamed that her, the bravest pegasus in all of Equestria, was ever spooked by the pegasus notorious for being the easiest to scare.
“That’s ok, Fluttershy. Oh, and hello Marcus. What brings you two here?” Twilight asked with a nervous smile.
“I was hoping Marcus could play with Spike, then I saw you all here and it seems something is going on.”
“Oh… Well….”
“Yes, Twilight. If you don’t mind me asking.”
“Well…”
“Egghead was sent two tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala and she’s taking me with her, so I can finally meet the Wonderbolts and become even more awesome,” Rainbow bragged.
“Keep telling yourself that, Rainbow. Twilight is taking me so I can sell my apple products to new clients to help expand the business.”
“As if. Twilight is taking moi, so I can finally meet my prince and live happily ever after.”
“Please, ditch the fairy tales, Rarity. It’s childish. I am going there to experience the best party ever!”
“Well, I never! You are the last person to say that to anyone, Pinkie!” Rarity snapped.
“What are you saying?” Pinkie asked, annoyed.
Twilight simply groaned, before taking Spike and getting away from the group of arguing ponies. Fluttershy and Marcus simply blinked, as they watched the bickering ponies and Twilight leaving, before Fluttershy sighed.
“Well, sweetie why don’t we stop at the town playground for a little bit then see if Twilight calms down a little.”
Marcus simply nodded, before the two took off, leaving the oblivious group of arguing ponies.
Sometime later Fluttershy and Marcus entered the library to find Twilight freaking out with Spike trying to calm her down. When she saw Fluttershy she took a relaxing deep breath.
“Fluttershy here to bring Marcus to play with Spike?” Twilight asked.
“Yes,” Fluttershy nodded, while walking closer to the two, “Oh and could we talk? Forgive me for asking, but you don’t look too well, if I may say and talk to you.”
“Please don’t tell me you want to go to the Gala too.”
“I have thought of that,” Fluttershy admitted nervously, making Twilight groan, “But, I can tell the others arguing is getting to you which is reason number two that I am not going to ask.”
Twilight noticeably relaxed and took a calming deep breath.
“That’s great to hear! I…” She froze when the second part of Fluttershy’s response fully registered, “Wait, what is the first reason?”
“Marcus, of course. I know it’s only for one day, but I just don’t think I can handle getting a foal sitter when I only met him about a week ago. Besides not even the amazing private garden could compare to interacting with a one-of-a-kind species, especially a sapient one. I am loving being a mother,” Fluttershy explained with a smile.
Twilight smiled back, before remembering there’s still a problem that needs solving.
“Fluttershy, I just don’t know who to pick!”
Fluttershy gently hummed as she pondered the question. Despite being so smart, Twilight really doesn’t know how to think outside the box and find a third or even a fourth option.
“You could ask the princess for more tickets, if you and her wouldn’t mind.”
Twilight froze as she pondered that simple solution before sighing.
“That’s a great idea, but I don’t think it’s proper to write to her for more than what she has given me.”
“Twilight, if I may say. You are her prized student and if she is kind as you always say then she would have no problem granting this request of yours, but if you don’t want to, you could always just send them back. Feel free to do what you see fit and I will help you with whatever you choose, if you don’t mind that is,” Fluttershy assured her with another gentle smile.
“Thank you, Fluttershy,” Twilight began, sharing the smile, “I was never one for friends before coming here, but after forming a bond with you all after defeating Nightmare moon and continuing to learn more about friendship, I am glad this all happen, and I have you girls as friends.”
The others stormed into the library, as Twilight’s letter was sent. Twilight took a deep breath and was ready to face the others.
“Twilight, we have been patient and I am ready to get the ticket,” Rainbow announced impatiently.
“For once today I half agree with Rainbow and would like to make preparations to sell my produce to more fancy ponies. Perhaps you could give me pointers, Rares,” Applejack added.
“Please, it won’t be necessary since I am going. I want to prepare for the best night ever with my prince, as soon as possible.”
“I just want the ticket now!”
“Girls, after thinking hard on it and with a little help from Fluttershy here I made my decision. It was hard to make when my closest friends kept on bugging me about it. I am new at friendship, and I didn’t want to screw up, especially so soon with such a wonderful group I bonded with,” Twilight paused to take a relaxing breath, unaware of the rest of the group listening with interest, “It wasn’t just us managing to defeat Nightmare Moon, but spending time with you at sleepovers and bonding at different things, were some of the best times of my life and to think I could screw something like that up, this soon, by having to pick which one to take with me to the most prestigious event, was terrible to bear,” Twilight paused to rub her forehead, unaware of four others wide eyed and looking guilty, “I just want to be a great friend and please all of you, but I was stuck and couldn’t do that, until Fluttershy gave me a great idea. That’s why I decided to ask Celestia that I would like more tickets so all of us can come and that I can’t just pick only one of my wonderful friends to take with me. I’m sorry for not deciding sooner and for not coming to this great solution. I don’t want to be a bad fri…”
Twilight was interrupted when she was embraced in a group hug by Rarity, Rainbow, Applejack, and Pinkie. Fluttershy gently smiled, before slowly joining the girls in the group hug.
“Twilight, we are the ones who need to apologize,” Rainbow admitted, “What we did wasn’t cool, and I won’t do that again. I am better than that.”
“We all are. We just got caught up in our own goals and interests. We didn't see how badly we were affecting you,” Applejack added.
“Darling don’t ever consider yourself a bad friend. You were simply trying your best. We gave you an impossible task and we regret it. You have been a great friend so far and don’t worry about screwing up,” Rarity assured her.
“Yeah, egghead. No way are we going to let anything get in the way of our bond and it’s just going to keep on getting stronger,” Rainbow agreed.
“Yeah, if Nightmare Moon can’t stop us and our bond, nothing can,” Applejack said with a smile.
“Thanks girls,” Twilight responded right when Spike puked up Celestia’s response.
He quickly handed it to her, before going back to reading comics with Marcus. Twilight smiled as she revealed eight tickets to the gala.
Twilight,
I have to say I am proud of you. You have come a long way from the introverted book worm that couldn’t bother to make time for friendship to where you are now. In such a short time you managed to go from that to somepony that refused to take part in the Grand Galloping Gala without all of your friends there. Of course, they should all be there, along with Spike and our little human, since I am sure Fluttershy wouldn’t want to be without her son so soon. As always feel free to keep writing to me on what you learn and I will gladly meet you and your friends there.
Sincerely, Celestia
“There we all get to go now,” Twilight told the others.
“Oh this means making dresses for all of you girls and a suit for Marcus. It was a nice challenge to make clothing for him,” Rarity added with a huge smile.
The others simply smiled and shook their heads.
“Perhaps, sometime later Rarity,” Twilight responded with a chuckle, “Now that’s over, I am going to relax for the rest of the day.”
Author's Note
The first adaptation of an episode with changes, naturally, as simply Marcus taking part would cause more changes, than simply what exactly happens with just lines for Marcus added in. Sorry Fics like those annoy me. Here I tried to be original by not copying off the transcript and made changes like Fluttershy new position as mom making her question going and she notices the others getting on Twilight nerves and helps her out. One minor issue was how to call the girls out. I didn't want to use Marcus since it doesn't feel right for him to be in a position to call the girls out. Then it hit me. Have Twilight go on a little rant about it but paint it in a way showing she feels guilt about the whole thing, which hit that much harder than any direct scolding could ever hope to achieve. Hope you enjoyed.
“I think that’s everything. Did you get all that, Rainbow?” Fluttershy asked sheepishly, but with a sterner look on her face.
Rainbow absentmindedly blinked upon noticing Fluttershy was finally done speaking. The rainbow manned pegasus never thought someone other than Twilight could go on and on about nothing, but since Marcus is a different species, it’s only fitting for the usually timid pegasus.
“Yeah, of course,” Rainbow scoffed with a cocky smile, “No worries, Flutters. I will take good care of the little guy. I am his best aunt after all.”
Before Flutters could respond, both ponies' vision was filled with a poofy pink mane, as Pinkie appeared in between the two.
“I am his best auntie as I shower him with the best sweets ever!”
“Fine, coolest aunt,” Rainbow conceded with an eye roll.
“That will work,” Pinkie agreed with a smile, “Well, better get back to the order frenzy. It’s one of the busiest times of the year for the cakes and they need my help,” She finished before disappearing as quickly as she came.
“Trust me Flutters I will take good care of him,” Rainbow assured her.
“Ok, if you think so. We should be gone for most of the day,” Fluttershy responded before a knock was heard at the door.
Fluttershy slowly walked to it and opened it revealing Twilight, wearing saddlebags and an eager look on her face.
“Good morning Fluttershy,” She greeted enthusiastically, “Oh and you too Rainbow,” She continued sheepishly upon finally noticing the cyan pegasus.
“Good morning, Twilight,” The two pegasi greeted back.
“Going to watch over Marcus, Rainbow?” Twilight asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Yeah, of course.”
“Rarity, Pinkie, and Applejack were all busy,” Fluttershy explained.
“Hey! Why do you consider Pinkie better than me when she gives him too many sweets?” Rainbow asked bitterly.
Both ponies were stunned by that valid question and simply stared at each other in silence for a few moments.
“I guess that is one thing I don’t have to worry about with you,” Fluttershy conceded.
Rainbow simply rolled her eyes.
“Anyway, we better get going, Fluttershy, if we are going to make it on time to plan out Marcus’s own bedroom and get him everything he needs,” Twilight finally told her.
“Right. Well, Rainbow, take good care of him.”
“Yeah, yeah. His coolest aunt is on the job!”
Marcus gently rubbed his eyes, as he walked into the living room. Normally, Fluttershy would have woken him up by now, but he figured she decided to let him sleep in.
“Finally awake squirt?”
He stopped rubbing his eyes and instead of Fluttershy, he was greeted with Rainbow Dash, who was giving him a cocky smile.
“I see I am not the only one who likes to sleep in, though it was boring to be the one waiting for once,” She added with a shrug, “No matter. Your coolest aunt, since Pinkie is insistent on taking the best title…”
She was momentarily interrupted by Pinkie appearing to stick her tongue out and blow a raspberry.
“Will be taking care of you, since Fluttershy is off doing egghead legal stuff to finally get started on your own room and stuff,” Rainbow continued without missing a beat, “Now we get to spend the whole day together just you and me. I can finally give you that ride without Fluttershy breathing down my neck.”
“Ok auntie Rainbow.”
“Now, might as well have breakfast before our fun. I kind of skipped out since I was in a rush to finally give you a ride,” Rainbow admitted kind of sheepishly.
Rainbow and Marcus entered the kitchen and Rainbow quickly rushed to the fridge, only to find a note taped to it.
“What’s this nonsense?” Rainbow asked.
Rainbow, he likes his eggs sunny side up. I will explain how to make it since you aren’t the best cook, if you don’t mind…
“That was just that one time. Gilda was distracting me when I did that!” Rainbow complained bitterly, before giving the concerned human a nervous expression, “Uh… So, I know how you prefer your eggs, and I will prepare it right,” She assured him, scoffing at Flutters not trusting her to take care of him.
Rainbow grabbed the whole carton of eggs and rushed to the stove, determined to prove her close lifelong friend wrong.
“Stupid Flutters. Not trusting I can be responsible and take care of a colt. I will show her,” She muttered, as the eggs were being cooked.
She was so focused on her thoughts, that she didn’t pay attention to the cooking eggs and before she snapped out of it, they were burning.
“What’s that smell?” She asked, before groaning at the now burning eggs, “Come on! I’m supposed to prove Flutters wrong.”
She took the eggs out of the pan and decided to have these be hers, to try and hide the fact she burned them. She then took a couple more eggs and cracked them on the pan.
“Stay focused Rainbow. You can’t burn these ones,” She assured herself.
Meanwhile Marcus was sitting at the table, waiting for his breakfast. Rainbow was taking longer than Fluttershy and was wondering what was going on. A couple minutes later Rainbow returned with a plate of decent cooked eggs and a fork.
“Here you are, and I didn’t screw them up. Go ahead and tell Flutters she can trust me to cook for you.”
Before Marcus could respond Rainbow rushed back and grabbed her own plate of burned eggs.
“Now let’s eat.”
“Auntie Rainbow, those look burnt.”
“No, no,” Rainbow denied with a nervous scoff, “I like them more well done than you do,” She slowly managed to take a bite and tried not to gag, “Yummy. Now let’s eat and we can have our fun.”
“Uh… Ok.”
After breakfast the two left the cottage and walked into a clear area outside.
“Alright, I am finally going to give you your ride without Flutters to get in the way,” She explained to the slightly nervous human, “No worries. I will be careful, and this will be fun. Now get on my back.”
Marcus carefully climbed on top of Rainbow and gently wrapped his arms around her neck. Rainbow found herself enjoying the touch of his soft skin on her fur. Perhaps this is the reason Flutters always carries him on her own back.
“Wow, this reminds me how little you are for someone on two legs,” Rainbow teased with a smirk, “Now hold on tight,” She added before slowly taking off.
Marcus, with his eyes closed, felt himself and Rainbow rising in the air for a few moments, before she stopped in midair for a brief second, then she slowly began moving forward. The human managed to find the courage to open his eyes and was amazed at the sight of slowly moving along the air.
“Since I don’t want Fluttershy to find out and think I am un-responsible, or whatever egghead word Twilight would use, we are going have to go slow, but we are still going to have fun,” Rainbow assured him, “Even going slow I am still your best aunt.”
“I am!” They heard from below.
Rainbow looked down to find an annoyed Pinkie glaring up at her and shaking her hoof in anger.
“Coolest aunt.”
“That’s better.”
“Anyway, let me show you the sight of ponyville up in the air.”
“Ok,” The human agreed.
The pegasus took off, going a little bit faster than before, but not too much that the human had trouble staying on. Marcus tried his best to stay still as possible, to not lose his balance, which was a bit difficult to do. In no time the two were flying above ponyville and Marcus was stunned to find from up there the ponies looked like big different colored blobs moving around and interacting.
“Looks like blobs of paint moving around or whatever, huh?” Rainbow spoke up with a chuckle, “One reason I love flying. It really makes you feel different. You feel more special and freer. The sky isn’t the limit and once I join the wonderbolts I will be even cooler about it.”
The two continued to fly over ponyville and watched the ponies go on with their daily lives.
“About time I got to do this, since Flutters was being overprotective,” Rainbow scoffed, “Never thought she would ever have the guts to be like that, but I guess having a colt to care for made her so,” Rainbow speciated with a thoughtful look, before shaking her head, “Anyway, let’s enjoy the rest of this flight.”
“Ok.”
After their flight around town, it was getting close to lunch and Rainbow decided to buy them food from Sugarcube corner. Once the two went inside they noticed it was almost full, with a moving pink blur quickly handing out orders, while Mr. and Mrs. Cake were doing so as well at their own pace.
“Huh? This place is packed after all,” Rainbow commented, while looking around for a free table, "Come on we might as well wait,” She added with an annoyed sigh at having to be patient, before she smirked when she got a brilliant idea.
Once the two got to a free table, Rainbow gazed at the hyper pink blur with a smirk, before giving Marcus a smile.
“Don’t worry little dude I will get us food right now, as your best aunt.”
Suddenly, the pink blur stopped in midair and upon trying to find her location, made a loud gasp, before she suddenly appeared at their table, with an annoyed look like before.
“I am! Anyway, I was so busy I didn't notice you two,” She greeted, changing her angry expression to a sheepish one, before giving the human a quick nuzzle, “As your true best aunt, if I had noticed I would have given you your usual sweets.”
“We will take our usuals and only give him one portion this time,” Rainbow told her.
“But Dashie I must shower him with-”
“You must not spend too much time with us due to all the other waiting ponies,” Rainbow argued.
“Touche,” Pinkie conceded, before rushing to get their order.
After getting lunch and managing to stop Pinkie from giving him more sweets than Rainbow figured Fluttershy would tolerate, the two went back to her cottage. They ended up playing a few board games, where Rainbow decided to go easy on him…
“You owe me one thousand bits for rent.”
“Come on little guy. I will pay you back next turn.”
“Ummm,” He placed a hand on his chin, as Rainbow lightly sweated and waited for his answer, “Nope. Tough break auntie Rainbow.”
…Only to realize she didn’t need to, as the human was more ruthless at the games than any pony could be.
“Me the best pegasus in Equestria keeps losing to a colt,” Rainbow grumbled.
“Want me to let you win, auntie Rainbow?” He suggested with a chuckle.
“Oh, ha ha ha. Very funny,” Rainbow responded playfully.
Suddenly, they heard Fluttershy and Twilight enter the cottage and Fluttershy quickly rushed right up to the two.
“I’m finally home, Marcus!” She exclaimed, as she embraced him in a hug, “Oh, it was hard being away for a day, but we managed to start planning the construction of your new room.”
“When will it happen?”
“It will start next week. Plenty of time to prepare getting my animal friends situated and while it happens, we are going to have to stay at Twilight’s.”
“Where I finally can run some tests on…”
“Only the ones we agreed to Twilight,” Fluttershy reminded her.
“Of course. It’s still exciting.”
“How was it with Rainbow today?” Fluttershy asked him.
Marcus pondered that, before giving Rainbow a smile, which she returned, with a nod.
“Auntie Rainbow was awesome. She is my best auntie ever.”
As soon as he said that Pinkie appeared with a stunned look on her face.
“No, you can’t…” She tried to say only to pass out.
Marcus, Fluttershy and Twilight were concerned, while Rainbow simply chuckled.
“Take that Pinkie. I am the best as always!”
“Not at board games auntie Rainbow,” Marcus quipped, making her frown and blush in embarrassment.
“Yeah, well…. I am still your best aunt.”
