Introverted Love

I tried getting to sleep but I just couldn't. It was nearing two in the morning and there was only one thing running through my mind, Fluttershy. I couldn't help but feel bad for her over her horrible roommate but even more, my feelings for her were growing stronger. I had begun to feel things much stronger than simply friends with her. I was falling in love with her and I couldn't help but wonder if she felt the same way.

Finally around three I got to sleep but my slumber would be interrupted a few minutes before six when the phone rang. I got up and answered it,

*yawns* Hello, who is it?"

"Luke, it is Fluttershy."

"Oh hi Fluttershy, what's going on?"

"I was wondering if we could start our day together now. After all, you did say all day!"

"Yeah sure, let me get showered and dressed. It shouldn't take any more than thirty minutes."

"Alright, I'll come up and wait outside your room."

"Ok, sounds good. I'll see you soon."

"I'll see you soon too!"

*CLICK*

My roommate was not thrilled with being woke up that early. He growled, "Ugh, why don't you just marry Fluttershy and then you two could move to married student housing. That way, you two won't be interrupting anyone's sleep."

I grunted, "Whatever."

I never have liked my roommate and the discord between us seemed to be growing more and more as Fluttershy and I grew closer. I will admit, I was a tad bit surprised that she would call me so early to start our day but I wasn't entirely shocked either. I did promise her that we'd spend the whole day together and she obviously wanted to make the most of it.

While I was showering I began to think about everything the day would have in store for us. Three meals obviously but what about the rest. I knew how much she liked nature and I knew of a scenic loop tour that goes through a wildlife preserve that I'm certain she would love. That would likely take most of the time between breakfast and lunch so that would leave the afternoon. I wasn't exactly sure what we'd do then but we could talk it out.

Thirty minutes later I had everything ready and left my room and Fluttershy was waiting for me. She embraced me and exclaimed, "Oh I'm so happy to see you!"

I returned the embrace and replied, "I'm happy to see you too Fluttershy."

She quickly grabbed my hand and we headed towards my pickup. I knew that she liked being with me but it seemed like our talk from the night before had changed things somewhat. Before that moment, we did engage in the occasional hug but I have a feeling now that physical contact will become a large part of our friendship but hey, I'm not complaining. Personally I loved holding her close and if us holding hands whenever we're together is going to be the norm, then I'm all for it.

The first thing we had to do was decide on a place to eat breakfast. I have always been the type that likes a meat heavy breakfast and given her nature, I had a feeling that Fluttershy likely didn't care for meat, perhaps she was even a vegetarian so I chose a place where we could both get what we wanted.

When I pulled in she gave me a smile, "You must be a mind reader."

I returned the smile, "Well given your love of animals, I figured this place would be perfect for us."

Once we headed in, we were seated immediately and given menus. While we did get a booth, Fluttershy suggested that we sit together on the same side. I found that kind of odd but given our closeness and my desire to make her happy, I joined her and immediately she clung to me.

When the waitress arrived, she gave us a slight smile and asked, "So what do the lovebirds want to drink?"

In unison replied, "Milk and a large cider."

She gave us another smile while we looked at one another and blushed. She commented, "It looks like we like the same thing to drink!"

I replied, "It looks that way."

I had my arm around her and began to rub her shoulder. This brought out a hum of delight from her, "Mmmm, you know exactly how to treat a girl, you know that Luke?"

I replied, "Well shoulder massages are something that everyone likes."

Before we knew it, our drinks arrived and the waitress asked for our orders. Fluttershy ordered, "I'd like your veggie omelette along with some toast."

I ordered, "I'd like you ultimate meat platter along with toast."

The waitress nodded and I was greeted with a stern glare from Fluttershy, "Meat, really. You're eating meat?"

I could tell that she was less than pleased but like I've always been throughout my life, I was honest. "Fluttershy," I replied "I really like my meat! It provides me with plenty of protein and it tastes so good."

She gave a frustrated sigh, "Oh alright. Most people I would be mad at over ordering such a thing." She then pulled me closer and continued, "But I could never be mad at you over something like that, never."

I replied, "Thanks Fluttershy, I'm glad I didn't make you mad."

That was very relieving to me. I was worried that if I wanted to ultimately be in a relationship with her that I would have to give up my meat. Yes I have said that I would do anything for her but I wasn't about to give up my meat! It is simply too good and you can't get protein from plants, not to mention they taste horrible.

Once our food arrived, she looked over at my plate with a glare but that changed to a smile after she saw how quickly I was eating. I thought that perhaps that was her way of approving of me eating that much meat despite her initially showing some displeasure over it.

After we finished and I paid for our meal, we headed to the gas station so I could get the pickup filled up. Once I got out to fill up, I noticed that she got on her phone and began to do something. I didn't think much about it as I figured that maybe she was sending an e-mail to her folks or doing something for one of her classes. Once I got back in she was still typing something in.

I waited to go until she was finished and she gave me a mischievous smile and giggled. I asked, "What is the giggle about?"

Her giggle continued, "Oh just something I think you'll like, something you'll really like!"

I asked, "Something I'll really like huh?"

She reached over and put her hand on my leg, "It is something I know you'll really like, no make that love!"

I gave her a smile, "I'm sure I will."

We then took off and got on the highway that goes through the nature preserve. I wasn't sure exactly what she had running through her mind and what it was that I liked. I was hoping to be able to relax and just focus on us on this trip but all of a sudden I had just one thing on my mind, what is it that she did?

During the middle of our trip, there was a scenic lookout, one that faced an area where there were usually a lot of animals. I pulled over and suggested, "How about we get out and see if there are any critters nearby."

She agreed and once we got out, she put her arm around me and said, "Oh thank you Luke, I am loving this trip."

I replied, "Well Fluttershy, I know how much you love animals."

We probably stayed there for about thirty minutes. While we did see some animals, there weren't any predatory animals, bobcats or mountain lions in the area which is something that I was really hoping to see. There were many deer present though which is something that made Fluttershy happy since she seems to like the herbivores more than carnivores.

Once we got back on the road, I would take a brief look over every now and then and Fluttershy's smile got bigger. Once we got back to Canterlot, we went out for lunch and like it was with breakfast, she initially gave me a glare over my meat heavy order but then seemed to forgive me. Once we finished our lunch, she pointed over towards a hotel. I asked, "A hotel, why a hotel?"

She gave a cute giggle, "Oh you'll see!"

We pulled up in front of the office and she gave me a bigger smile, "Follow me Luke, follow me."

I got out and we joined hands as we went into the office. I was completely shocked when I discovered what she had done. I realized that when she was on her phone earlier that day that she had got us a reservation for a room for not one but two nights. She gave me a giggle, "This was what I was doing on my phone earlier!"

I gave her a smile and replied, "Oh you sneaky girl you!"

I figured that she must be in the same situation as me, getting some money for things from her parents when she pulled out enough money to pay for the room. Once we got our key, she grabbed me by the hand and said, "Shall we go get settled in?"

I replied, "Yes, let's do."

I realized that last night when she wanted us to have some privacy, that this may have been part of her plan. Now I certainly wasn't complaining but I couldn't help but wonder what she had planned. One thing I did hope for was that this would be the weekend when we became a couple, well that along with thoughts I knew I probably shouldn't be having.
