The Masked Horror

by The Toaster

Darkness Arrives

Previous Chapter

A beautiful and venerable field, with radiant flowers and giant forests. Now there was nothing more than arid and dead landscape. Bodies could be seen everywhere, Ponys, Batponys, Griffins. Some dismembered, others beheaded, others had holes all over their bodies. Along with all the death, huge craters were mixed with the blood and ashes that intoxicated the place.

In the midst of so much death and destruction, there were two figures standing facing each other.

One of them was Celestia, with her golden and radiant armor, which only her brilliance could illuminate the darkest of nights. And on the other, a figure in a black coat of red clouds, under the hood, his iconic orange spinning mask was present, the eye under it was dark, slowly inspecting his opponent.

Celestia was gritting her teeth, sweating and she was completely covered in dirt and blood, most of which was not hers.

She kept her reliable sledgehammer pointed at her masked opponent, she was trembling.

"Why Tobi....?" The masked figure seemed to be surprised by his opponent's question as she continued.

"After everything we have gone through together... Why??" 'Tobi' remained silent while Celestia was unable to hold her tears, which escaped and ran down her dirty face.

"Of course you don't understand Celestia, I would understand your naiveness, if it weren't for the fact that you are an immortal figure."

Celestia would be angry at the insult if she wasn't surprised by Tobi's deep voice, that was not his voice. Not the one she knew.

"Tobi.... What happened to you...?"

Silence reigned in that dead field, the air that passed through them made Tobi's clothes and Celestia's hair hover in the breeze.

"I Have seen the truth Tia" Celestia was in complete quiet with the shock until Tobi broke the silence charging straight towards her.

She got out of her trance and charged in the same way, and both clashed.

She made quick strikes with her war hammer, while Tobi quickly dodged or deflected them. With a huge leap, he landed on top of her war hammer, giving it a powerful kick in her face making her stagger with it.

Gritting her teeth, she unleashed a powerful ray of magic on him, which running towards her would have little chance of deflecting.

To Celestia's shock, he then dropped to his knees and threw his head back, sliding to his knees and making the beam pass inches across his face. Rising from the slide, he did a spinning jump and threw a powerful punch at Celestia, in which she defended herself by holding his fist.

She attempted to strike a blow with her war hammer at him using her free hand, but he held it before it could hit him.

Both were struggling like this, each holding back the attack of the other, Celestia gritting her teeth as she faced Tobi.

So Tobi would do something that would shock Celestia, never seeing anything like it in all her decades of life.

His iris would at will, completely change color, becoming red with black dots.

'Tobi..... What are you...?'

And out of nowhere he buried himself in the ground completely, she was completely in shock out of the disappearance of her foe. She started desperately looking around searching for him.

'W-what?? H-how??'

And suddenly, he appeared right under her, leaving the ground and giving a right hook right on her chin throwing her away.

Recovering herself in the air, she did a somersault backward, and using her wings she landed on the ground, crawling a few meters by her foot, and made a look with hatred at her opponent, who kept staring at her with his glowing red eyes behind his mask.

Charging towards him and using her wings for momentum, she put her Hammer on her back in mid-flight, preparing a powerful blow for Tobi.

He just stood there watching her, waiting for the blow to hit him with his guard completely exposed.

Then, with a roar, she delivered one blow that could have ended an entire city on Tobi with maximum strength.

At the last second, without her noticing, his eye changed again, he rotated and expanded, taking on a different and larger shape.

BOOM

A huge earth explosion came with the impact of Celestia's war hammer, a huge cloud of smoke. She slowly raised the hammer, looking at the crater she had formed. She sighed and looked sadly at the small destruction.

'I should have held back on that attack..... Then he would have survived to pay for his crimes....'

"Don't come back, Bastard."

"I go wherever I want, Celestia."

She widened her eyes at that.

'Impossible'

Slowly, she looked back, sweating and completely shocked by what she saw

He was right behind her, completely intact, without any scratches, as if the hammer had never impacted.

"Impossible! You were supposed to be dead!" Then she noticed his eye, he was different than before, shocking her even more.

"Y-your eye...." Then, suddenly, the air felt like it was being sucked into his eye and disappearing completely, and then he said words that marked Celestia in her very core.

"KATON! Die...."

Then, as if the swirl in his eye had changed course, a huge wave of fire spun toward her suddenly gathering and forming a huge ball of fire.

Celestia could only watch that glow approaching her, and then consuming her completely.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Suddenly she felt a huge shake on her shoulder, causing her to be silenced, looking around in complete panic.

"Princess Celestia!! Wake up!" She gasped slowly, looking around her, with many royal guards surrounding her room, while one captain stood beside her with his hand on her shoulder in concern.

"Princess?? What's wrong?? What happened??" Celestia, completely ignoring her guards, got up from the bed in a hurry running out of her bedroom door and passing down the halls, again completely ignoring the worried protests of her guards.

'Please, no! This can't be happening! '

She quickly flew up the stairs, past the throne room and ran towards the garden.

'Please, let it be just a dream! Please let it be just a dream!'

She screamed in her mind as she ran through the garden and passed several statues, stopping in the middle of the garden of the palace.

'"No.... It can't be....."'

She looked at the support of an alleged statue with a writing, which, when she read, made her remain completely silent in shock. Her mouth opening and closing, unable to find the words to reason.

The guards quickly managed to catch up with their princess, but when they went to check on her to see if she was okay, they could only be in shock like their monarch.

That empty stone pillar that before contained the greatest enemy that Equestria had ever fought.

And now he was out there.

Tobi was free.
