Chapters Chapter 1 - An Unlikely Coincidence
The time was midnight in the peaceful heart of Canterlot,Crown Jewel of the Equestrian Kingdom. In the heart of the marvelous equestrian city would be the grand castle where the Elemental Princesses spent their eternal days.Inside said castle would lie one of those very princess',The graceful Mare of the Night,Princess Luna,in her personal chambers to be percise. The young princess would lay on her large bed, relaxing after bringing her glorious night full circle.
With The Princess Was her most trusted guard, and guard captain,Feathermane.Feather was a young Vampric pony at the age of 600 years old.She had been at Princess Luna's side for a short couple of years but has proven herself on multiple occasions to be much more then capable for the honor she holds in the Lunar Guard Corps, having saving the princess on multiple occasions, and risking her own like many more times then that.Their relationship was more then Royal Deity and Sworn Protector. They were close friends as well, yet that both relationships never conflicted each other when circumstances called for one over the other.
The Princess laid on Her bed in silence for a short while before speaking up to the grey coated mare who trotted up casually to her.
"It is a good night,is it not my friend?,I have put a special touch on each star tonight for I felt it good for the nights beauty to shine brighter then usual this day.Would you agree with me?" Said Luna
Feather would take her place at Luna's side, yellow eyes shining ever so slightly in the dim light of the room as she sat down on her haunches next to the princess, letting out a small content sigh as she relaxed herself as well before speaking
"I'd say so,I did notice something diffrent about the stars tonight,so your extra effort shows" Said Feather
Luna would smile at this and nod, sitting herself up on her own haunches at this point as she would sigh and then laugh slightly.
"Well then why are we sitting inside and not enjoying it outside.Seems to be a waste to let said work simply be admired from the windows, and such pleasent conditions for a nice stroll and maybe a sit in the garden."
"That sounds like a good idea,a shame the others can't join us for the time being, everyone else is asleep" Said Feather
"True, let us atleast fetch Starry and then head out" Said Luna
With this the princess trot without a care to the door of her chambers, opening it with ease with her magic as she would look to her right, catching the gaze of her door guard,Starry, who was a member of her elite 4 along with Feather and 2 others.
The young stallion smiled at the Princess and simply gave a nod to her,He was not a colt of many words by a long shot, but a kind spirit none the less and someone the princess enjoyed very much to have around. His name was Starry Night, one of Luna's most trusted elite 4 guard ponies and one of the very few true friends the princess had.He had been with her nearly as long as Feather and had earned an equal amount of respect, proving his worth on countless occasions in ways that her normal guards almost never could.
Princess Luna trot past Starry after acknowledging his gesture with a small smile and a few moments later Feather would trot out of the room adorned in her armor without its helmet. The two would have a couple of moments of friendly chatting, all three would set off at a healthy pace towards the Royal Garden.
The trio would frolick around the gardens after arriving shortly after, sniffing the fresh flowers and taking in the health nights air, feeling chrisp in their lungs as the moon hung overhead, full and shining with beautiful luminosity.
After a fair bit of wandering and taking in the beauty that would never get old in the gardens, the three of them would take a short respute under a faded yet oddly beautiful aged white gazebo. This place had a large amount of meaning to the night princess,it was where her older fellow elemental sister would take her when they were younger,to bond, tell stories, and be one with each other,as family naturally should, but unfortunately enough those times had long faded, for reasons Luna at least partly felt she understood...but never fully.
On their way into the gazebo, something would catch Lunas eye, just near her right forehoof as she was about to plant said hoof to the ground. It was a lonely cricket,
chirping in the night as crickets do,yet this seemed to put luna off in a very bad way as she recoiled hard, bumping against Feather and Starry in unison, which would
cause Starrys guard helmet to fall off as Luna let out a half yell before being silenced by Feathers hoof. The only sound that would be heard would be the thud of
Starrys helmet contact the stone floor of the gazebo.
After a longated hug from Feather and pattings on the back from Starry, the princess would be completely content again as she watched the cricket jump off into the
bushes of the garden.
"I hate bugs.....they are natural creatures yes but...-" Her sentence would be cut off by a shiver as Feather would laugh shortly along with Starry.
As they all shared their laugh,The young stallion Starry would go to pick up his helmet, only looking down for a moment as his hooves would pick the object up.Under
it would lay an unusually large crack in the stone floor of the gazebo,a faint ocean blue light barely visible in the cracks.
"What in the....how did the helmet do this...it's not THAT heavy...." Said Starry
Luna and Feather both turned at his words, trotting over and looking down at the suspicious cracks skeptically before both looking at each other and then to starry
"Well this gazebo is very old indeed...it has been here as long as i have,or as long as i can remember...things break easily with age." Said Luna
At her worlds,Feather nodded and sighed, rubbing the back of her head as she began talking with Starry about this.Luna would trot the slightest bit away from them Circling around the very edges of the cracks, rubbing her hoof over them as she though to herself, truely perplexed by the blue light that faintly glowed in the cracks, and then suddenly,as if triggered by the princesses direct touch, the light would glow very brightly,Shining is full ocean blue beauty as the princess would look to
Starry and Feather, wondering why they were not perplexed by this occurance as she was.
"Hey!,Feather,Starry,Are you two not seeing t-"
The young princess's words were be cut off by a sudden crack and the stone floor beneath her gave way underneath her hooves and she would fall, the light above would seem to cease to exist as she feel into a dark abyss as she yelled, seeming to fall as fast as a comet going through the depths of space in her own mind, faintly hearing the yells of Starry and Feather as the world would seem to close around her
"It has been here as long as i have....or as long as i can remember....Things...Break....Easily....With....Age...."
Chapter 2 - Discovery
The silence of the the situation would suddenly be broken by the loud splash of water and the darkness of Luna's world would break as she opened her eyes, automatically beginning to panic as she realized very quickly that she was underwater, flailing her hooves as she would swim up and break the surface of the water, gasping for breath as she looked around frantically, only able to see the slightest bit as all that illuminated the cave that she had fallen into was a very dim teal blue light, the origin of said light was unknown to her as she scanned the cave.
Meer moments later a yell would erupt from slight above Luna and she would look up in sudden shock,The yell was coming from a falling Starry Night who had simply jumped into the hole without a care.He impacted the water making a huge splash the drenched the nearby Luna. Her mane lay limp over her face as a now wet Starry emerged from the depths of the water, panting as the princess had moments earlier and observing his surroundings before setting his eyes on the princess, who blew away some hair from her face and returned a perplexed look back to him before the voice of feather would break the newly set in silence.
"Hey! Are you two okay down their!?"
Luna looked up toward the source of feathers voice then back to Starry before answering.
"Yes,were fine! come down here,i haven't even seen this place before! It looks like a cave of some sort!"
At hearing the princess's words Feather flew down the cave fast with ease, looking around as if checking for danger before looking down at the princess and Starry.
After helping the two of them out of the water Feather dropped to the ground just next to Starry and Luna. She drew her bow as she continued to scan around, applying the special hoofguard attachment that allowed her to pull an arrow out of the quiver on her back and apply it to the bow before pulling the serving back into a ready position, this device was hook like and was designed by Feather herself.
"I don't like this place Princess.....it looks ancient, this isn't a normal cave by any means...it looks almost hoofmade."
The princess was not paying attention, she herself felt a strange sense of attachment to this place, she couldn't figure out why as she had never once been here. The teal blue light of the cave made her feel strangely...at home..in this place.
She snapped out of her thinking to acknowledge Feathers words with a simple nod as she looked around the room, looking much more closely now that her panic had ended. She spotted something that looked out of place,it looked like...a door of some sort,it was definitely hoof made as it was made out of smooth, dark grey as apposed to the black rock of the circular cave around them. The door was covered in what looked like vines that had been given an eternity to grow over it.
Luna trotted over to the door almost sub-consciously remove some of the vines slowly and cautiously, revealing symbols all over the door, most of them were left the princess completely stumped on what they could mean, but two very big symbols in the middle of the door were unmistakable.A large crescent moon accompanied by a radiant sun adorned the grey stone door,by the looks of it,they were perfect in their carvings, not an imperfection to be found in them unlike the others, but the one thing that was clear was what was under them, just where the edges of both connected was a small hole.
Feather and Starry trotted up to either side of the princess and observe the door before resting their eyes on the hole in which Luna's own eyes were locked.
"It looks made for....a horn to fit inside....." Luna said in an oddly blank tone
Feather and Starry looked at each other and then back to Luna, who,by the time they had turned back, was about to attempt to stick her own horn inside the slot in the door.Feather jumped out suddenly and grab the princess, pulling her away just before her horn entered the hole
"Luna, what are you doing!? That could be a trap for all you know,we don't know anything about this place,i mean no disrespect your highness but that was very absent minded of you.." Said Feather.
The princess stood their for a moment, not so much as glancing toward feather as she spoke in a very low, matter of fact tone
"It isn't a trap,Feather...." Said Luna.
Without so much as another word,Luna inserted her horn into the hole in the grey down and focused her magic. She was not even close to sure what would await her on the other side or if their was anything to be had at all,but something about the cave pushed her forward,it made her sure what she was doing was needed.
The cave would shake and rocks would fall into the small body of water behind them, making audible echoing splashes as they contacted the surface.Feather would draw her bow back further and Starry would flare his horn, making it glow a light purple color. After a few moments of shaking Luna would withdraw her horn from the hole and the grey stone door would open, making a slight scraping sound as it opened to the princess,Revealing to her a marvelously large room that poured at a brighter teal light from the door, illuminating the entire dome like chamber to her.
Luna walked into the room without so much as a whisper,as if being guided by some mysterious force that she did not try to fight. As she walked into the room, something in the middle of the room become more and more visible to the princess and her two guards, who now followed behind, looking around with well deserved caution.
In the middle of the room would be what looked like a large circular pedestal made out of a strange looking jet black marble, and on the right and left of the pedestal were two very different looking statues. The left statue was made of very bright white marble and would resemble what looked like a very large female alicorn, her body gracefully slender and curvy. Her mane was extremely long and curvy like Celestia's but much longer, seeming to go on for an eternity from the correct angle, and the same could be said for her tail. The alicorn would be in a standing position on her hind legs and her forelegs would be high in the air as if in a kicking motion.
On the exact opposite of the left statue would be a slightly larger statue made out of a dark purple marble that clearly depicted that of a male alicorn, the first Luna had ever seen.He was very masculine in size and built like that of a strong work, even more so then that really. His mane was long but noticeably shorter then the opposite statues and looked to flow in a similar way,yet his tail was easily just as long.He would be in the same pose as the female alicorn as their eyes seemed to meet from the look of it and they were perfectly opposite to each other.
Luna would step into the middle of the large circular pedestal and look at first the left statue and then the right, taking her time as she observed the pair. The princess would feel a warm trail go down her cheek and she would reach up to touch
her cheek. The princess felt a very strange sorrow wash over her but she could not understand why,she did not know the ponies depicted in the statues,or at the very least she did not remember them, not in the slightest bit.Yet tears still began to stream down her cheeks as she stood and looked at their faces.
Feather would notice this and go to trot up to the princess but be thrown back all of a sudden by the barrier dark blue barrier dome around the pedestal and Luna would turn to watch this, wondering what had caused the barrier to form.Feather would be sitting up to look at the source of her being thrown back as suddenly, from the horns of each of the statues, bright trails of colored magic would shoot out,one trail was colored bright gold and the other pitch black. Both trails would move in a quick flurry of movement and connect with Luna's horn and illuminate her body in a mix of the two colors and she would stumble slight forward and her vision would begin to fail her as she fell over, seemingly in slow motion in Luna's mind.
The last thing the Princess would hear was the panicked yell of Feather and then the sound of a body smashing against something solid, rewarded with a sickening thud...and then the conscious world around her would go dark again as her words from earlier never stopped playing in her head...
"Things...Break....Easily...With...Age..."
Chapter 3 - Revelations
When luna awoke she groaned groggily before standing slowly on all fours, rubbing the side of her head with her hoof.
The lunar princess slowly opened her eyes to look where she was, only to go wide eyed seconds later as she saw....nothing.Pure nothingness was around her.Every way she looked all she saw was white,as if the world had been erased around her.
After a few moments she had began yelling for her friends, very loudly in fact as she went as far as to use her canterlot voice, yet all she got back from the world were the distant echoes of her own voice.
She slowly lost hope and hung her head as she dropped to her haunches. The princess, feeling defeat, would sigh sadly and simply glance around at the place which, from the looks of it,was her tomb now.
“Where am i....where is everyone....w-why is this happening?”
When she got no answer, she went back to hanging her head, sitting in utter silence in her new plane of existence.
Then,as if out of nowhere,A voice faintly echoed out to the disheartened moon princess, sounding very eager to see her,yet luna had no idea to who the voice belonged or why they were speaking to her
“Luna.....i-is that you...? is it really you..?” the first voice would say, obviously female and sounding on the verge of tears
The lunar princess looked around in slight awe as she had not expected to hear a voice in this strange place, when she saw no one around though, she was utterly dumbfounded.
“Who are you..? how do you know my name..?”
The female voice let out a light sob before audibly regaining her composure and speaking again.
“She...didn’t tell you? She was here though, she promised us she was going to tell you when she left us...but that was many, many years ago,we thought you just didn’t want to be anywhere near us...” Her voice sounded extremely pained at the last couple of words.
Luna looked all around confused at the words she was hearing, taking time to process them before answering the strange female she could not see
“She? who is -she-? and who are you...i don’t know you,but you seem to know me...”
Long moments passed and luna gaped along in the whiteness before suddenly, the space resonated with a bright, orangish red light, and before luna, who had her eyes closed, would appear a very large mare, her mane was -literaly- ablaze, her coat was pure white and her eyes were a furious orange. The most defining feature of the mare though, was her cutie mark, which was like her sisters,a very large sun, except the strange mares was very much more lively,in fact,it pulsated along with her mane and was a much more defined orange and yellow combination.
After a couple of moments, luna opened her eyes to notice the mare was...crying...fresh tears still streaming down her cheeks as she looked upon the lunar princess. She would sniffle lightly before speaking.
“I-its me...luna....its Everdawn....y-your...m-mother...don’t you remember me...c-celestia never told you about this place...?”
Luna stared at the mare a look of ultimate confusion and disbelief on her face, tears streamed down her cheeks as she touched them, looking at them skeptically before turning an angry face onto the mare
“Liar!!” Luna shouted “My mother died along with my father when...w-when...” she would struggled to get out the words she knew, now that she had been truly confronted with the issue, she realized she didn’t know HOW her parents died,or if they even did..
After a few moments Luna dropped to her haunches and sobbed openly, disgraced by the details that eluded her,and slowly, the mare named Everdawn would move to her,and take her into a very warm, blissful hug,her own tears stopping upon seeing her supposed daughter cry.
“You’ve grown so much...from the last time we saw you...you were only as big as my right hoof....” she would laugh softly at this before sniffling “Celestia hasn’t told you a thing...has she...?”
Luna slowly shook her head and sobbed more as she, very hesitantly, hugged Everdawn closer, closing her eyes as her sobs were muffled a bit into the mares chest,Everdawn would then speak in a very hushed, whisper like voice.
“Their their my child....let it out....i’ll tell you everything...”
Everdawn then began to explain everything,to the precious daughter she had lost before she even had a chance to remember her mother...
The two sat in silence for a while, only breaking that silence to make apologies, and it was Everdawn who did this mostly, For many things, all the years of misleading, The loneliness for years, Not being able to direct her down the right path, The Millenium of banishment that could have been avoided with proper guidance, but most of all, she apologized for her not being able to remember her own mother.
“S-so...Celestia knew...this entire time...she told me you were just off somewhere...all these years...t-that you were mad at me...for what i did...” she had cried heavily during these long hours and was now nuzzling her mother’s chest to find comfort, as she felt indefinitely broken at the moment..
Everdawn nodded and stroke lunas mane with a sigh
“She came here....two thousand years ago....so that was about a hundred or so after....it...happened...” She seemed pained by the simple word it.
Luna looked up at this, eyes slightly red from crying, she had noticed this pained moment in speech
“Everd- i-i mean....Mother...what is...it?”
The larger mare closed her eyes and sigh very heavily, a heavy burden being carried even in this simple gesture
“It would be easier to show you my child...close your eyes...”
Luna obeyed as her eyelids fell closed, the world went dark, she felt the sensation of magic radiating from her Everdawn and then the sensation started to fill her body, entering her mind. The lunar princess did not resist the intrusion into her psyche and after a couple of moments,Everdawn spoke again.
“Open your eyes...Luna..”
She opened her eyes, and what she saw baffled her.
The whiteness that surrounded them now hard purpose...and had formed itself into what looked like...the hallway of a castle...a castle so familiar....it was then that this clicked in luna “This is the castle where i got defeated by the elements....” Everdawn nodded knowingly before starting to walk, and after a few moments,Luna followed and Dawn spoke again “This was your...our..home...a long, long time ago Luna...” The castle walls were indeed very different from the place Nightmare Moon was defeated, the walls were no longer ugly grey with cracks on every visible square inch, they were now shining white marble to match along with the floors, the pillars were adorned in many different, all bright and vibrant in their various mixtures. The castle was teaming with activity of unfamiliar looking ponies, though they were easily distinguished as guards, they were like none Luna had seen. They were much like Celestia’s guards in their body types, but one thing made them different. The armor of these ponies were colored in a very bright, shining yellow and orange combination, unlike Celestia’s normal gold.
Luna gaped at these guards for a while,it was then that she noticed the other guards....Grey...like Feather and Starry’s Coats....similar...Yellow snake like eyes....but the armor was different again...a menacing jet black armor, with midnight blue engravings. The design was identical to Luna’s guards...right down to the enchantment that gave some of them bat wings.
“The white ponies...are your guards....aren’t they...?” Luna said, and Everdawn nodded in confirmation, the small beginnings of a smile forming on her face
“But...if they are yours...then...who controls th-” Luna tried to finish her sentence, but it was then that, just beside Everdawn,Space was distorted into itself, leaving a gaping tear of what looked...and felt...like pure magic..Very slowly,a large,Onyx pony with a mane of stars resembling the night skies constellations to utter perfection stepped out of the space,by his build he was very obviously a male, his size rivaling a bit over Everdawn, who was smiling knowingly at Luna as the figure stepped out.Once he had cleared himself of the void,it was made clear he was also an alicorn. His back was adorned with very graceful,Full bodied pegasi wings that if stretched, could span at least 5 ponies across each wing or more, his forehead was adorned with a long, sharp tipped horn that rivaled both Celestia and Everdawn’s in height, but the features luna noticed were first..when he spoke.. “You did always say she took right after me dear...” he was addressing Everdawn, who smiled lightly, but Luna’s face remained awe struck,he had a deep, authorative voice...when a most defined echo then even hers when she was Nightmare Moon, but the thing she noticed most all all were those dragon like...turquoise blue iris’ that glow even in full sunlight. It took a moment for it to click with her,but he was alreading voicing her thoughts it seemed
“My...you’ve grown so much...my cherished daughter...” said the Stallion
Luna felt tears running down her cheeks again as she closed her eyes and sniffled lightly, shaking her head in disbelief at what she was seeing, after a couple of short moments she found herself pulled into a tight embrace, she heard a strong heartbeat against the stallions muscled chest and when she dared herself to look up,she found those same turquoise eyes beaming down at her with obvious love before she would be hugged tighter, and even more apologies would be whispered into her ear and after after another couple of moments she felt the presence of her mother on her free side, finishing the embrace,it was then that Luna’s composure would shatter and she would cry like a foal who was afraid of the dark...
Chapter 5 - Unlived Childhood
Chapter 5 - Unlived childhood
Luna’s crying lasted for a slightly long while, she stopped when she simply could not produce another teardrop,it was then that her mother and father let go of their embrace, one sighing after the other as the stallion pet her mane very delicately as if fearing she would break.
“My name is Astronimas...Luna...i am your father....myself and your mother were the King and Queen of equestria...for a long while before you and your sister were born into the kingdom...”
Astronimas continued stroking her mane, letting his words sink in before continuing
“Your sister...we fear....has been lying to you...Luna dear i need you to try and remember....when were you born...?”
Luna sniffled lightly and closed her eyes in thought, after a long while she let out an exhausted sigh
“i-i....don’t know...c-celestia just said i was born after her....”
Astronimas sighed softly as his fears were confirmed and he looked at Everdawn with a very small nod as he then turned his gaze back down too Luna.
“Then its better we simply show you what happened...from the beginning..and it seems your mother had the same idea, thats what this place is.” He spoke in a very sure, calm tone for her and gestured his hoof around to the elaborate castle “This was where your mother and i,as well as you and your sister lived when we were...around, it is located in the place now called the Everfree Forest, but you know that well enough i’m sure.”
Luna went go to speak after a couple of moments but was interrupted by the unmistakable loud cry of a foal, when she looked up at her father he was giving Everdawn a knowing wide grin before he spoke
“Heh..you really did take us back far i see dear..”
Everdawn blushed lightly and looked away with a giggle and Astronimas looked back down at Luna and smiled as he let her go from the hold.
Almost immediatly luna turned to the direction of the crying and began to trot towards it slowly, once around the corner she found a door, open wide in the hall. After a couple of moments a few clearly noticeable doctor ponies and nurses came from the room, but one pony stood out among the crowd of them,a familiar white mare who luna knew very well but looked very much different than any other time luna had ever seen her.It was a pink maned, very young looking Celestia, only about as tall as a normal teenage pony and missing her most noticeable feature of all,her sun cutie-mark, which luna, after a long moment of looking assumed hadn’t been aquired by this younger variation of her sister.
The first thing luna felt was surprise, and then in a split second,a weird kind of anger towards the young sun princess in front of her. After a couple of long tense moments luna was trotting toward her with a look of near rage, but as she got closer and prepared to scream her lungs out at her sister she noticed it,probably the weirdest thing about the mare. She was looking right at luna, but not registering her presence in the slightest.
At first she was confused, but then she slowly started to move her hoof up and wave it infront of celestias eyes.Nothing whatsoever.it was then that her father and mother came around the corner, their looks showing that they had atleast expected this in a small way,it was Everdawn who spoke first.
“Sweetheart....you can’t interact with her, this world isn’t real....that’s what we didn’t tell you....this place...and...us...aren’t physically real anymore...this is just a glimpse into the past...this happened over two thousand years ago luna...”
Everdawn seemed on the verge of tears again as Astronimas spoke in a slight more accepting tone.
“As much as i know this will hurt Luna...your mother and I...have been dead, for a very...very long time”
Luna’s face looked on them in absolute shock as she simply stood there, seeming frozen by their words as she spoke in a very low voice
“How....h-how are you....how are you here then...you’re right in front of me...y-you hugged me....if you’re not really then how is this all possible...?”
Astronimas sighed lightly and looked at Everdawn, who shook her head slightly, looking pained but stern in whatever decision she had just made
“That....is a question better saved for the end of all we have to show you...” Astronimas said in a calm voice
“Come now luna...there is something you need to see...this is the beginning...” Said Everdawn
Chapter 6 - Reliving a Past Unkown
Chapter 6 - Reliving a past unknown.
Everdawn and Astronimas trotted next to Luna and gestured to the door behind her,as luna turned around she watched as the young celestia walked in and decided it best not to pry,but to simply follow after a light trot into the room with her parents at her side luna inspected the scene she was looking at.
Orange light fell from the singular, large, cathedral window in the room, the stained glass depicting two alicorns, one jet black and one snow white with blazing hair, circling the moon and the sun at each others side, almost immediately this clicked to luna and she realized that this was her mother and fathers castle, she was baffled now as she imagined what it looked like now, decrepit and ugly grey in the dangerous everfree forest, one look out the window would confirm that they were indeed surrounded by forest but something about it looked...tame....peaceful...completely unlike it was in her time.
Turning her attention away from the window she focused her attention on the people in the room. There were a few doctors in the room still, talking lightly away in the corners of the room, and a few in the hall now.Celestia was their as well, sitting lightly on her haunches on a cushion just to the left side of a very big curtained bed,of which nothing could be seen accept from her angle as the rest of the drapes were closed.
Luna very slowly moved over next to her sister, still retaining the urge to say anything or touch her sister as she stepped closer.Turning her eyes away from her sister,it was then that she saw it.A slightly younger everdawn lay lightly in the bed,her mane a shade darker orange than it was when luna turned to look at her mother now,she also seemed a little bit more slender but that was trivial.on her left side would be an equally young astronimas, his mane with a slightly noticeably less amount of stars and a shade of lighter blue, his body seeming also less jet black and more ash or onyx then anything, but this was not what luna was staring so intently at anymore.
In everdawns arms, where the mare lightly panted and her chest heaved lightly, was the source of lunas curiosity. In her arms lay a familiar midnight blue coated bundle, wings still closed to her back and horn only the size of a baby carrot, eyes full of color with unrecognized pupils as foals always had,but it was the color that made it click to her,the eyes, full of bright, beaming turquoise...they were hers..and it was then that she turned back to her parents, starring at them in true, utter disbelief.
Astronimas would be the first to speak, looking on the scene with knowing eyes as he gave a small smile
“It was one of the happiest moments of my long life...Dawn had already given me a strong daughter to inherit her sun....and now she gave me another to tend over my gentle moon and stars, truely their was nothing else that could have made me happier in my life then that.”
Dawn kept quiet as she smiled very warmly, memories of joy clearly coming over her.
Light tears ran down lunas eyes as she turned and moved even closer, looking down at her smaller self, the tiny foal gave a slight yawn and appeared to be asleep, curled deeply against her mother's chest as she let out a soft purr,Astronimas and Everdawn cooing over her lightly and celestia even looked happy, which was a change from her usual neutral regal expression.
“What do you want to name her honey...?” Dawn said weakly.
The young Astonimas gave a hum of thinking and didn’t speak for a while, yet once he was done he gave a slight smile and leaned down to nuzzle the sleeping foal lightly “Lunara...or...Luna..for short...”
Everdawn would smile and repeat this action lightly and celestia would speak for the first time since they had gotten here.
“Mother...is she going to replace me?” She seemed calm other than the slight quake of fear, and a hint of anger in her voice.
Everdawn looked over at her eldest daughter in a slight disbelief for a moment before shaking her head
“Tia....why would you ever think that? You and Luna will rule together when that time comes, but this is not to happen for many a year,so why do you worry?”
The young solar princess would start to show her displeasure as she heard the word “together”
“But you and father said....that i would rule on my own once i came of age...you promised!”
At the yell, the young Luna would stir slightly and get the beginnings of a sob as she squirmed in her mother’s forelegs, whimpering and whining in discomfort as Everdawn would rock her lightly while looking,a slight bit angrily at celestia
“Tia...hold your tongue!.....your father and I did say that, yes, but that was when you were an only child...it is the right of passage in this kingdom that you two will share, since you are both immortal,i want no harsh words at this.Am i understood celestia?” Everdawn said as she looked on in wait for her response, still rocking the young luna in her forelegs
Celestia gave a slight growl of anger as she turned her gaze to her father, looking pleadingly “F-father please! you promised me....s-surely mother is just mistaken..right? You both swore on your crowns t-that once i had proved myself....i-it’d be my right alone!”
Luna began to sob lightly at the new waves of loud noises, wailing lightly the way foals did as Everdawn would hug the bundle to her chest lightly and making slight shushing sounds as Astronimas kept her calm look as he sighed.
“Your mother is not mistaken...and as my daughter, you will listen to her,no objections.”
Celestia gaped at her father and went to retaliate “B-but father you pr-!”
The young princess froze in place as Astonimas placed his cold turquoise dragon eyed gaze onto celestia, the calm composure faltering for a moment to show his anger as he growled out lightly “No....Objections.....Am i understood...?” his voice echoed slightly and upon hearing this light tears ran down celestia's cheeks as she gave a hard huff of anger and stormed out of the room, the her galloping would be heard for a while down the marble halls until it dissipated.
At this the room would distort and swirl lightly back into the white nothingness that the space was when luna entered, she stood their in shocked disbelief at all that she had just seen, she blunk a couple of times for clarity before looking back up at her mother and father
Everdawn had on a happy but distant smile as the old memories flashed back to her,one could even say she was content,in a sad sort of way.
Astronimas simply looked back at her, Luna was truly unsure of what her father could possibly be thinking, He wore the look of neutrality that Celestia proudly boasted now a days. But you could obviously tell He was much more practiced in its use. After a long couple of moments he finally spoke.
“That's....where it started...whether or not shes gotten over it after all these years, that is for you to judge my child...”
Luna knew the answer almost immediately, Celestia had not gotten over it, she was rarely let out of the castle, always put on the back burner, never allowed to participate in political affairs,as if she held no rank and was a guest in her own home, awaiting to be evicted. This is how she knew...her sister had never gotten over anything to due with her.
It was then that the space started to distort again and her father was bringing them into another memory.
