Nyx’s mushroomy adventures

One day in Ponyville, Twilight was preparing to leave her castle in order to go to a meeting with Celestia in Canterlot. She had decided to have Starlight watch over Nyx while she was gone.

"You sure that you can handle it?" Asked Twilight.

"I'm more than positive Twilight. Nyx is in good hooves." Replied Starlight.

"Don't worry so much, mom. Auntie Starlight will make sure I'm okay." Said Nyx, holding her favorite plushie of her mother.

"Okay. I'll be back in a few hours. Bye Nyx." Replied Twilight, nuzzling Nyx before leaving.

"Bye mom."

Nyx and Starlight watched Twilight fly away until they couldn't see her anymore.

"So, Nyx, what do you want to do first?"

"Could you read my favorite book to me? Mom usually does."

"Sure, Nyx. Then do you want to see Trixie's magic?"

"Sure." Replied Nyx.

"Starlight, I'm ready to practice magic now." Said Trixie

"Okay, mind if Nyx joins us?"

"No, she can join us."

"Great. Come on Nyx."

"Coming."

Nyx followed Starlight and Trixie to the throne room. The first thing that they decided to try was dimensional teleportation.

Starlight placed a apple on a chair in the middle of the room when Nyx was focused on something else.

"Okay Trixie. Ready?"

"Ready."

Trixie was preparing the teleportation when Nyx noticed the apple.

"Mmm, that apple looks tasty." Said Nyx, walking over to the apple

"Wait, Nyx." Yelled Starlight.

But it was too late, Trixie's magic ended up hitting Nyx instead of the apple, causing her to disappear.

"NYX!" Screamed Starlight. "Oh, this is bad, this is bad, this is bad."

Trixie just stood there not moving.

"Trixie, aren't you going to help me?"

"How am I supposed to help. Neither of us have any idea where Nyx was sent to."

"If Twilight finds out, I'm dead."

Then they heard the door to the room open and froze.

"Nyx, I'm home." Said Twilight. "Starlight, have you seen Nyx anywhere."

Starlight began to sweat, "Um, well, you see."

"Starlight and I were practicing magic and accidentally teleported Nyx to another dimension."

"TRIXIE!"

"Starlight, is this true." Said Twilight, growing angry.

"Um, y-yes."

"STARLIGHT GLIMMER!!" Yelled Twilight. "You teleported my daughter off to Celestia knows where without any way to bring her back."

"I'm sorry, it was an accident."

"Don't yell at her." Said Trixie, with a saddened look. "It was my fault. I was the one who used the dimensional teleportation magic. I'll accept any punishment, just don't blame her. I'm sorry Starlight."

Twilight sighed before saying to Trixie, "Trixie, I want you to cancel all of your upcoming magic shows until we bring Nyx back to Equestria, and there will be no more practicing magic with my daughter around, whether I'm here or not."

"Yes, Princess." Replied Trixie, with ears lowered, walking with Twilight out of the room.

Meanwhile, in a different dimension, Nyx appeared above the fountain in a garden.

She fell into the fountain, splashing water onto the people there. One of them wearing a pink dress and having a crown on her head.

Once Nyx wiped her head and opened her eyes, she noticed this. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to splash you, please don't hurt me." She said, beginning to cry.

But she felt a soft hand begin to stroke her back. "It's okay, little one. I'm not going hurt you."

Nyx looked up and saw the girl with the pink dress sitting on the side of the fountain. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to splash you."

"No one is blaming you, little one." She said, continuing to stroke Nyx's back.

"T-thank you." Replied Nyx.

"What is your name, little one?"

"N-nyx. M-my name is Nyx."

"Well, Nyx. Would you like to stay with me in my castle?"

"Wait, you own a castle and are wearing a crown. Are you a Princess?"

"Yes, I am a Princess. My name is Princess Peach, and I am the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. So, would you like to stay in my castle?"

"S-sure, Princess Peach."

"Follow me, I'll give you one of the spare rooms."

"Thank you, Princess Peach."

"Please, just call me Peach."

"Okay Peach."

Peach and Nyx walked through Peach's castle, talking on the way.

"So, what are your favorite activities?" Asked Peach

"I like to look at the stars at night, I like to paint, and I like to play the violin."

"Those are some nice activities."

"What about you?"

"I like making cakes, racing, and hosting parties at my castle."

"Those are really nice as well. I'll have to try racing sometime."

"Well, here's where you'll be staying." Said Princess Peach, "At least, until you get your own house in Toad Town."

"What's Toad Town?" Asked Nyx.

"Toad Town is the town just outside of my castle where the Toads live."

"Toads? Aren't those like frogs?"

"No, a Toad is a human with a mushroom on his head that he wears like a hat."

"Interesting. Where I come from, toads are similar to frogs."

"Where do you come from, Nyx?"

"I come from---" Nyx then began thinking about her mom and how she missed her, then she began crying again.

Peach noticed and began feeling sympathy for the young filly. "What's the matter, little one."

"I-I-I miss my mom." She said, bawling.

Peach walked over and sat down next to her. "Come here, Nyx."

Nyx nodded and walked over onto Peach's lap. She began to stroke her hand along Nyx's back again.

Between the gentle strokes on her back and the crying, Nyx quickly fell asleep.

Peach picked her up and laid her on the bed. She pulled the covers over Nyx before wishing her a good night.

Once Peach did that, she closed the curtains and quietly walked out of the room.

"Toads." Said Peach, "I want you to make sure that our guest isn't disturbed."

"Yes, Princess." Replied the toads, walking towards Nyx's room.

Back in Equestria, Twilight, Starlight, and Trixie were still trying to bring Nyx back. However, they were unsuccessful.

"I still can't believe that you did this, Trixie." Said Twilight.

"I know, and I feel terrible about it."

"Twilight, I know that you want your daughter back, but its really late and we're all getting tired. How about we go to bed and continue this tomorrow."

Twilight opened her mouth to object, but then closed it when she realized that Starlight had a point. "Fine. See you two in the morning."

"Goodnight." Replied Starlight and Trixie, going off to their own rooms in the castle.
