Chapter 1: Friendship is Family, Part 1
“Humans!” Shouted a mint green pony with excitement. “No, Lyra, not humans. The book clearly states that in under a week, according to my calculations, the evil mare known as Nightmare Moon will come to earth and begin a reign of eternal darkness.” Said the purple pony. Lyra began to laugh. “Oh Twilight, you silly filly, Nightmare Moon is an old mare’s tale used to scare young colts and fillies into being good.” She said. “So are Humans, Lyra.” Replied Twilight. “LLLLIIIIIEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!” Came the reply.
“I have to agree with Lyra on this one, Twi. Nightmare Moon is just a legend. She doesn’t exist.” Said a small purple and green dragon. Twilight was quickly getting irritated. “Fine, if you two don’t believe me, I’ll just send a letter to the princess. She’s sure to believe me. Spike, take a letter.” Twilight said. Spike reached behind him and withdrew a quill and parchment.
Twilight quickly gave the princess a five page summary of her findings, calculations and beliefs on the current situation. “… and in conclusion, I feel that it is imperative that you prepare the military to be ready for the upcoming return of Nightmare Moon. Your Faithful Student, Twilight Sparkle.” Twilight concluded. Lyra lay sleeping in a corner of the book filled room while Spike added an addendum about his and Lyra skeptical thoughts on the situation. One puff of magic dragon fire and the message was away.
“Wonderful! Now, all we have to do is to wait for the princess’ reply to my letter and we can start working on ways to prepare for Nightmare Moon’s return.” Twilight said cheerfully. Moments later, Spike coughed and a scroll with the royal seal on it popped out his mouth. Picking it up, he read through it quickly before turning to Twilight. “It says the princess wants to discuss something with you.” He said. “Well of course she does. I brought it to her attention so I should be there to help her with it. You two stay here and I’ll tell you what I found out upon my return.” Said Twilight, plans of ways to stop Nightmare Moon already running through her head.
-A short time later-
“What do you mean Nightmare Moon isn’t a threat?!” Twilight cried out in confusion. She could understand Spike and Lyra not believing her, but the princess? Impossible. Yet, it had just happened. “I mean what I say, my faithful student. Nightmare Moon is not something you or anyone else needs to be worrying about right now. So don’t worry about. Besides, I called you here for a second reason. You are going to be travelling tomorrow to the town of Ponyville to help prepare for the Summer Sun Celebration. Upon your arrival…” Princess Celestia continued, not paying mind to the fact that Twilight was deep in thought and only half listening, unwilling to believe that she might be wrong about the wicked mare in the moon.
That was when she heard it. The sound of knocking, off in the distance. Confused, she turned to the princess, whose speech was just coming to a close. “…and in case you forget any of that I will give Lyra and Spike a list of the things to do upon your arrival in Ponyville. Do you have any questions, my faithful student?” Celestia finished with a smile. “Princess, do you hear someone knocking?” Twilight asked. The princess appeared to be about reply in the negative, when the knocking could be heard once again. Though it was impossible to see on the princess’ white face, Twilight could almost swear she saw color leave her mentor’s face.
“It appears something major is going to happen and soon, Twilight. Come, we must go meet our visitors.” Celestia said, as she left the throne room they had been. Twilight trotted quickly after the princess, voicing her confusion. “Who is it we are going to meet?” She said. Celestia paused, and then turned to her student.
“We are going to meet the harbingers of Fate, my faithful student. We’re going the meet the Guardians.”

Prologue
The trio of human sat around the dusty room. Each did what they usually did while waiting for a call from their bosses. The younger male read a book and listened to music. The older male napped in the corner. And the young female complained. “Fuck, what is taking so long! When are going to get a call! I’m so bored!” she whined. She stomped over to young man laid her head on his shoulder. “Vita, do something, I’m bored.” The young man, Vita, shut off his music and turned his head to look at his female friend. “What do you expect me to do El? Bane told us it could be a week or so before the call comes in. Why don’t you go rob bank or do whatever criminal activity it is that you do in your free time.” He said. “But I can’t V, I can sense change in the air, and that’s a sure sign that something is going to happen. I need to be here and ready for when the call comes in.” El replied.
“Fine, just stop bugging me, I need to keep an eye my book.” Vita said, turning back to his book. “What’s so important about this one?” El asked, as she flopped down on a nearby bed. “It is a book that will give me full information on the world we are going to, to keep us in the know of the current situation and events in that place. Also, it’s one of Peter’s limited copies, so I need to be careful with it.” Vita replied. After that, they lapsed into silence, with only the older man’s snores being heard occasionally.
Five minutes later, the trio’s cellphones began to beep. They all reflexively whipped out their phones and spoke in unison. “We keep the Universe from falling apart.” On the other end of the line, a man’s chuckling could be heard. “Alright you three, I will be your ground control for this mission.” The man said. El groaned, “Fuck, it’s Bane.” The man continued speaking, ignoring El’s comment. “Alright, people, sound off.” “Vita Louis, Designation: 15, Aspect: Conscience.“ “El Argentine, Designation: 18, Aspect: Change.” “Ashes Lane, Designation: 27, Aspect: Destruction.“
Clapping could be heard over the phones. “OK, everyone’s accounted for. Now, mission. The doors will be opening soon, so be ready. Oh, and as a final note, the world you’re going to has a different sentient race in place of humans. So don’t be surprised if you three get transformed to fit in on the other side.” Bane said over the phone. The trio looked at each other in surprise. Vita cautiously asked the question on each of their minds. “Bane, what are likely to turn into?” Laughter could be heard over the phones for a few moments before the answer finally came in the form of one word.
"Ponies!"
