Trinity of Time: Fate and Change

Mmm... These candy canes are delicious... It's my absolute favorite candy of all time. Ah... So sweet and hard... Melts in your mouth after a while. Mmm... That's peppermint backwash... I... Euh... Wait... What was I doing already?

Oh right! I stopped here to take a little rest. Guess I got sidetracked by the candy canes, huh? Let me see... The map says Draco Clavus is up ahead. If her journals are correct, then this "Spike" was once Twilight's lifelong assistant. Since the moment he came to life, The Great and Powerful Twilight cherished little Spike with her life. Hmm... She was a motherly figure to him, teaching little dragon Spike how to walk on two legs, even though she had four. At night, the two shared a little story time, before she tucked him in. Each time, she would kiss Spike on the forehead, wishing him good night.

Decades later, the dragon grew up. One day, he sprouted wings. Surprised by this development, Twilight requested performing some research on her "child." Obviously, Spike acquiesced. Over time, he and a certain Rarity grew closer and closer to each other. Wait a minute... Rarity?! As in Rarity, the one who founded Carousel Beauty?! I know Sweetie Belle spent her life making the company into what it is today, but still! Wow... Rarity...

I peeked into my purse, and pulled out an eyeliner stick. After turning it to the side, I took some time to let it all sink in. Wow... Rarity and Spike... The one who founded Equestria's leading beauty company... I heard it used to be a small shop in Ponyville, selling only fine dresses. Over the years, I guess she decided to expand. Nowadays, they've literally swallowed up the market. Few competitors exist in the makeup market, and are often times bought out by Carousel Beauty. In fact, my entire attire, dress, makeup and everything, consists only of Carousel Beauty products. In the clothing industry, even with the thousands of competitors, they are almost always the number one trending brand. As for makeup... Well, that's a market they rule with an iron hoof.

Amazing... I wonder what happened afterwards? I should probably keep reading Twilight's journals... Why do I even have access to these? Better question: where did I get these? Ugh... I hate that large gap childhood leaves in somepony's memories. It's like everything is covered in a thick layer of eternal fog. As far as I can remember, I've always had these journals. Each day, I dragged them around in my purse, and furthered my reading more and more. For as long as I can remember, I've been chasing this dream. I've always wanted to become as powerful and renown as Twilight. Thanks to Celestia's revelation, is it possible for me to be something greater than just "Twilight?" Hmm...

Enough of that! I have to focus on reading! Let me see... There we go! So, it seems like Twilight chronicled Spike's growth as a living being, as well as his life with Rarity. Umm... The amount of detail in these kinda creeps me out... Was Twilight stoking them? Brr...

I turned the page. At the top, "The Big Day" was written in large, black letters. Curious, I read further. Oh my... That's the day Rarity and Spike got married... Huh? A picture? With my hoof I picked up said photograph. Either somepony put this through a Sepia filter, or it was all the technology they had at the time. Was it? Probably should've paid more attention in class...

Wait a second... What just happened here? I flipped the page back and forth. No, I didn't skip over anything, yet the dates don't match. According to the text, several years had past since "The Big day." What, did Twilight just suddenly stop writing?

Ack! Too many questions! Must keep reading! Uh... Ahem. Alright, technical error of some sort aside, this is some pretty interesting content. Apparently, she explored whether or not it was genetically possible for ponies and dragons to breed. Huh... What's this over here? Are these research notes? Why did she fold them up and... Woah! That's a huge stack of papers! How did she even fold all this, compress it within her journal, all without creating a huge space in between the pages?!

Okay, so... Let me skim this real quick... Uhuh... Yeah... That makes sense... Didn't think of that! This is a little off by today's standards... Nope, but could still work... Yeah... Ah, I can see why you thought that was the case... Don't agree with that... Probably could've paid more attention in class to this...

My goodness! Accounting for the time period in which this was written, along with the fact that such things as the Internet weren't perfected as they are today, these papers are extremely well thought out! Upon closer inspection, it appears as if they were meant to be blueprints: lab procedures for some sort of experiment. Wait a second! Experiment?!

If I consider the context in which these papers were found, along with all this information she wrote, my guess is this: she helped Rarity and Spike birth a foal of their own. But then... Dragon and equine genetics are in completely separate fields. Speaking of dragons...

I flipped through the pages at lightning fast speeds. Although unable to fully process the data flying by my eyes, I did however find an answer to my questions somewhere towards the end. Due to the hypothetically shorter life expectancy of the time I believe this was written in, and also because dragons possess much longer lifespans than most beings, Rarity must have surely passed away before Spike could even become a grown adult. If that's the case, what happened to her foal(s)?
