Diamond's Evil Journey
The Village Trap
Previous ChapterNext ChapterLeon and Diamond walked down the path towards the village. Leon stopped when he saw a wooden sign type thing with dry blood and old skulls on it. Leon reached out to touch it before thinking. Diamond broke him out of his thought “Why are we stopping? What is that thing?” she asked.
“It seems to be a sign. It's probably a warning of some kind.” he answered.
Diamond backed away from the sign slightly “A warning of what?” she asked.
Leon took out his handgun and started slowly proceeding forward “I'm not sure, that's what worries me.” he said.
Suddenly they heard some kind of pained whimpers. Diamond's ears perked up “What's that?” she asked no one in particular. She ran forward towards the sound. Leon sighed before following “Don't run ahead!” he called after her.
He saw Diamond run up to a wolf with it's left hind leg caught in a bear trap. She gasped “Dear celestia.” she said. She then tried to pry the bear trap open but she couldn't.
Leon chuckled and holstered his weapon. He bent down on the other side of the bear trap “Come on we'll do it together.” he said. With Leon's strength they were able to pry it open enough to allow the wolf to lift it's leg out.
It faced Diamond and licked her face in appreciation. Diamond smiled at it “I should name you. What should your name be?” she wondered then lit up “I know, I'll name you after my best friend! Your name will be Silver.” she said.
Silver looked behind them as if something got her attention. She ran as fast as she could with her injury. Diamond frowned at the retreating wolf “Silver...” she said sadly.
Leon got her attention “at least Silver's alive. Either way we have to continue. Come on.” he said. He started walking again and Diamond followed.
They walked past while looking out for more bear traps. After walking a few steps they came to a small area with four trees. Leon stopped and chuckled “They must think I'm brain dead.” he said with a shake of his head.
Diamond tilted her head in confusion at his sudden statement “What do you mean?” she asked.
Leon pointed to the two pairs of trees “Do you see those devices on those trees?” he asked. Diamond nodded and Leon continued “Those are explosive devices, and they have a trip wire between them. If I were to walk through that then...well it might be better to show you.” he said. He grabbed a medium sized rock and tossed it at the wire.
The wire broke and the two devices exploded, just doing minimal damage to the trees they were attached to “Seems like they weren't very powerful. They were probably meant to injure instead of kill.” he said.
Diamond laughed and grabbed a rock “Let me try.” she said before throwing the rock and blowing the devices.
Leon was amused by her childish antics but decided that they wasted enough time “The village can't be too far, let's continue.” he said.
They started walking again but shortly ran into another villager. Leon was caught off guard and the villager grabbed his throat and lifted him off his feet. Diamond started to panic “Leon!” she called. She ran to the villager's leg and bucked it as hard as she could. The villager stumbled and lessened his grip on Leon's neck. Leon took the opportunity to land a kick to his chin. The villager landed on his back and Leon quickly fired a bullet into his head.
Leon caught his breath and rubbed his sore throat. Diamond looked up at him with worry “Are you alright Leon.” she asked.
Leon composed himself before answering “Yeah, thanks for lending a hand...or hoof I guess.” he said.
Diamond started looking proud of herself. Leon got her attention “As grateful as I am for the help, remember to stay back and let me fight anyone we come across.” he said.
Diamond pouted “I'll help if I want to help.” she muttered.
They came to a small shack and Leon walked in to check it out. He saw a women stuck to the wall with a pitchfork through her head. The body was still bleeding fresh blood. Diamond tried to follow him into the shack but Leon blocked her way with his leg “There's nothing here, let's go.” he said and ushered her along the path.
They walked to a ravine with a bridge across but there were two villagers with hatchets in front of it. They charged Leon with their hatches raised. Leon blocked the first strike then countered with a kick to his stomach. He then dodged the others strike and grabbed his other arm. He pulled and threw him over the cliff into the ravine. Leon turned to see the first villager getting off of the floor. Leon grabbed his knife and stabbed him in the heart.
Diamond made sure there were no more and caught up to Leon “If you have that gun then why are you fighting them?” she asked.
Leon put the knife away and turned to her “Guns need ammunition to work and I have a limited supply of ammo. I don't want to waste too much of it.” he said.
On a cliff on the other side of the bridge, three villagers spotted them “Un forastero!” one called while pointing
“Avisar a los de mas!” another yelled.
“Te cogí!” the last said.
They ran away towards the village. Leon sighed “That didn't sound friendly.” he said.
They crossed the bridge and came across another shack. After what Leon found in the last shack, he didn't want Diamond to follow him “Wait here, I'll check this out.” he said. As soon as he got close a villager ran out like a bat out of hell and swung her hatchet at Leon. He tried to dodge but the hatchet clipped his chest. He looked down and saw a tiny bit of blood seep from his wound. He ignored it for now.
The villager came for another attack but Leon grabbed her wrist and slammed his fist into her elbow causing her to grunt in pain and drop the hatchet. Leon grabbed it and slit her throat with it.
Diamond ran up to him “Did she get you?” she asked in panic.
Leon wiped the blood from his chest and saw that there was barely any blood coming “A bit, but luckily it's just a scratch.” he said.
Diamond saw the scratch and nodded “Good thing you're so fast.” she said.
Leon chuckled and continued forward. Diamond rolled her eyes “And he tells me to be careful.” she said under her breath.
They walked up to a large solid metal door “This should be the entrance to the village.” he turned to diamond “Don't run ahead this time. It'll probably be filled with these villagers.” he said before walking through the door.
Once they walked through the door Leon got a call on his communicator. He answered to see Hunnigan “Leon, how ya holding up?” she asked.
“Bad question Hunnigan.” he responded.
“Sorry to hear that. How's Diamond Tiara? She's still with you isn't she?” she asked.
Leon glanced at the filly then back to Hunnigan “She's taking all of this a lot better than I thought she would.” he said.
“That's good, but remember your actual mission.” she said.
“Yeah, don't worry. I'll bring the subject home safe.” he said.
Leon disconnected the call and hid behind a nearby tree while gesturing Diamond to follow. Leon peeked out from the tree to see the village. He took out a pair of binoculars to get a clearer view. He saw the villager going along with their business and working. In the middle of the village was a large fire. In the fire was one of his fellow officers attached to a log with a hook through his chest “Damn.” he said to himself.
He scanned the rest of the village and made note of as much as he could “Four visible villagers...four visible buildings...Diamond Tiara...” he put the binoculars down “Wait, what?” he said and looked again. Diamond Tiara was sneaking behind one of the buildings in the village. Leon put the binoculars away and ran in.
Diamond was spotted by a man with a pitch fork. He threw the pitchfork at her but diamond dodged by shuffling back in fright. Leon came up behind him and stabbed him in the neck.
“Te voy hacer picadillo!” yelled a villager as he took a hatchet in his hand.
Leon ran and stood in front of diamond “Didn't I tell you not to run off!” he asked as he shot two incoming villagers.
Diamond cowered behind his leg “I didn't run, I walked.” Diamond shot back. Leon breathed a sigh of annoyance. He grabbed her in an arm and ran past a few of them and into one of the houses. He slammed the door and was glad to see none of them inside.
“Esta en la trampa!” yelled a villager.
Leon set Diamond down and ran to a window “Who are these people? What are they planning?” he asked himself. He then heard the sound of a chainsaw rev up.
Diamond tried to stay as close to Leon as possible out of fear “what's that sound?” she asked.
Leon ran towards a dresser “Chainsaw.” he answered as he pushed the dresser in front of the door “That should hold them for a minute.” he said. They heard the sound of glass breaking up stairs “Shit.” he said.
He then turned to another window that was boarded up and saw the villagers trying to break through “Son of a...” he said. He ran up the stairs “Upstairs!” he called back to Diamond “And stay behind me” he threw in.
They arrived at the second floor to see the top of a ladder leading through the broken window. Leon saw a villager climbing through “Oh no you don't.” he said as he kicked the villager's face, sending him off the ladder. He then threw the ladder down. He saw that there were more banging on another nearby window.
Leon spotted a shotgun in a glass container on the wall. He broke the glass and grabbed it. He inspected it and found that it was loaded. He also grabbed a box of shotgun shells. Someone set the ladder back up to the window but Diamond was quick to push it away again. They heard the sound of a chainsaw sawing through wood downstairs. Leon stood in front of the window with three villagers behind it “It's time we left.” he said as he fired a shot from his new shotgun.
The window shattered and the three villagers fell to the ground dead. Leon grabbed diamond and jumped out of the window. They ran to the top of the next house and Leon turned around and switched the shotgun for his handgun. A crowd ran towards them. He killed most of them with the handgun but next time he pulled the trigger all that came out was a click. He was about to reload but two more villagers ran towards him. He slammed the handgun into the first one's head then landed a kick to his back sending him off the roof. The other attacked with a sickle slicing Leon's arm a bit. He kneed her in the stomach and punched her off the roof.
Another group arrived on the roof. At the back of the group was a man with a bag over his head and a chainsaw in his hands. Leon growled as he reloaded and fired at the group.
Diamond kept her eyes on the group in front of her. Behind her a villager climbed up a ladder. He grabbed her in his hand and she started flailing her legs around “Let me go you freak!” she yelled. One of her hooves slammed into his eye. He dropped her and stumbled back while covering his eyes. He accidentally stepped off of the roof, fell and broke his neck. Diamond pushed the ladder down then brought her attention back to the group in front of Leon.
Leon killed all of them except for the chainsaw guy. Leon fired two bullets into his chest and one in the head. The bullets caused him to stumble back but he stayed up and continued advancing on them “What's this guy made out of?” he asked.
Leon switched for his shotgun and blasted his chest. He was knocked to the floor but still got up even with a chunk of flesh missing from his chest “You've gotta be kidding me.” he said as he took his handgun out again. He emptied the magazine into the chainsaw guy's chest causing him to finally fall down limply.
Leon saw more villagers running around the village. Suddenly some church bells started to ring out from somewhere. All of the villagers stopped in their tracks “La campana.” one said before walking towards the sound
all of the remaining villagers followed the sound “Lord saddler.” another said. Soon they were all gone.
Leon looked around in confusion “Where's everyone going? Bingo?” he quipped.
“Good riddance!” Diamond yelled in the direction that the villagers went.
Leon held his cut arm and grunted in pain. Diamond ran to him “Oh no, will you be okay?” she asked.
Leon sat down and took out a spray can and a roll of bandages “Yeah, I just have to take care of this real quick.” he said. He took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeve. He then took the can and sprayed his wound “This will numb the pain and insure that it doesn't get infected.” he said. He then wrapped the bandages around the wound. When he finished he stood up and put his jacket back on.
He then slightly glared down at diamond “You ran ahead again against my orders.” he said.
Diamond lowered her head with a guilty look on her face “I'm sorry, I was trying to get a closer look. I wanted to be helpful.” she said.
Leon sighed and calmed down a bit “I get that but this isn't a game, you could have died. There are other, safer ways that you could be helpful to me.” he said.
Diamond gained an idea and lit up “You got a new gun right? Give me the other one so that I can defend myself!” she said.
Leon shook his head “I'm not giving a child a firearm.” he said.
Diamond gave Leon the look that she always gave her dad when asking for something “Pleeease?” she asked.
Leon showed Diamond the handgun “You couldn't use it if you tried, not with hooves. Just listen when I give you a command, and obey. It's for your own safety.” he said.
Diamond sighed and gave up “Fine, I understand.” she said with a pout.
Leon and Diamond got down from the roof. Leon took another look at the officer in the fire, still burning. He took out his communicator “Hunnigan I have some bad news. I've confirmed the body of an officer. Something's happened to the people here.” he said.
“Leon you two need to get out of there. Look for a tower and follow the trail near it.” she said.
Leon looked to the nearby tower “Got it.” he said.
He put the communicator away and turned his attention to Diamond “Can we take a break, my legs are getting tired.” she asked him.
Leon was about to refuse but then he thought of something “Okay go sit down. I'm going to look around the village for some more ammo or anything else that might be useful.” he said.
Diamond sighed in relief and took a seat on a nearby log “I hope we find that girl soon.” she said to herself as Leon walked off.
