Two Days Ago
I smiled as I walked through the busted-down doors and looked around at the bodies. A few of my men and women were pretty beaten and bloody, but we had cleared them out.
“About time you came in.”
I looked at the deck and smiled as I looked at Jr. He leaned against the desk, colts in hand.
“They didn’t put up as much of a fight as we expected. I got our guys checking the place like last time. We found cash last time and this time we’ve found weapons.”
He stood up and walked over to the bar area. “What did we find?”
“There are ten AKs and thirteen M16s, and I think it’s a sniper rifle. I’ll be keeping it, and a few of the M16s as part of our raid spoils.”
I nodded as we walked into the side room, and he picked up an old-looking rifle. “I'm pretty sure it's a Mosin Nagant, but I’m not a hundred percent on it.”

I nodded, then waved for a few of my men. I walked over, and I explained how we were breaking up the weapons. They nodded and took everything that wasn’t going to Jr. Once we had everything out, I heard the sirens and knew that someone had called this time.
“Fuck! MOVE IT!”
Jr yelled as we grabbed the last of the weapons. They pulled back into the van, and Jr and I slipped back to his car. He’d had one of his men drive. I knew it was in case they started to fire at it once they saw it. I smiled, seeing it running, and the man with the driver seat pulled forward. I jumped into the passenger as the men got into the back as Jr jumped into the driver’s seat. He floored it once he was in and raced out of the building. We got onto a side road as the first cop car showed up. Jr turned a hard right as I heard a siren behind us. I turned a few more times fast, then backed into a back alley and pulled in, then turned off the engine. We were well hidden by the dark, and Jr jumped out, grabbing a dirty old tarp he had in the back seat. He threw it over the back and jumped behind a dumpster. Two cars raced by, sirens blaring, and I saw one in the driver-side mirror. They shined a light at us then moved it around before they pulled off. I sighed and leaned back into the chair. Jr jumped back in and sighed as he pulled his phone out then dialed a number. He put it on speaker, and it rang for a few seconds, then a man picked up.
“Yeah, Boss?”
“Shining, did you do what I told you if cops showed, right?”
“Yeah, we got out into the neighborhood near the highway. It was close for a minute, but we managed. I think we should go underground for a while. I think we’ve stirred the pot enough for a few months.”
Jr nodded as he leaned back into the driver seat.
“Ok, don’t go to the changeling hotel. I’m sure they’re trying to find out who’s doing what. If they saw the van, it’s too much to risk. Find somewhere safe, stash the guns and lay low.”
“Okay, what about y’all?”
“I’ll drop off your friend once it’s clear, and I’ll figure the rest out.”
“Alright.”
He hung up and looked back at the man.
“Where do you live?”
He smiled as he nodded his head.
“A few blocks from here, I can walk so we don’t risk the cops.”
“Wow, look, if we wait for an hour or so, I’ll drop you off. Your armed and walking around after having a large gun battle is a dead give away; you may have been part of it.”
“No, it’s fine; just let me out.”
Jr sighed, then nodded as he got out, and he nodded at me before he got out. Jr let him go, then sat back in and closed the door as the man jogged off.
“He’s going to get caught. I know they’re driving around looking and will be for a few hours.”
I grabbed his shoulder, and he laughed as he looked at me.
“I’ll get up home later. I’m sure your sister is worried. Do you want to call her?”
I laughed, a little surprised at how much he cared for others, especially in this situation. “No, she’s with mother and my other sisters.” He smiled and nodded as I sat back and closed my eyes.
“I’m going to get some sleep.”
“Okay.”
Two Days Later
Jr pov
I smiled as I looked around the office. My new leaders were moving things into the spaces. Shining and Cadence were busy getting ready for the school year. Cadence was the principal, and Shining was an Alumni of the school. I wasn’t too sure what he did, but I didn’t care much about it. Cadence was the one that worries me. She was smart. I walked into the main office and saw them setting up a desk with a couch on the left wall and a few chairs. In the middle was a beauty of a chestnut wood table. I smiled, then walked back to the office and walked around, seeing that they were about done with set up.
“Hey, Jr.”
I smiled as I looked back at Sunset and saw she was in a pair of blue jeans with torn holes over the knees. She had sandals on and had on a shirt held up by spaghetti straps tied in a knot behind her neck with a hole over her breast showing them off. She had her hair tied back into a ponytail. “Hey Sunset, thanks for coming. I’ll show you to your office.” She smiled as she looked at me, then we walked to the third office down from mine, and I walked her in. I saw the red-painted room with a black desk in the center with that sun spray painted. The chair I’d got for her was like mine, black leather with walnut armrests. She had a nice set of chairs in front of her desk with two couches on both sides of her office. On the desk was a new and extra-wide led computer screen. I looked back at her and smiled; she bounced in place as she looked around. “Go on, have a seat.” She walked around the desk and sat down. Sunset smiled as she turned on her computer, and I heard the chime as it came on. I smiled and walked out of the office, leaving her to do as she wished. I walked back into my office and walked over to the window. I looked down at the street and watched the car go by. I smiled and saw the car Cadence and Shining drove in last time.
“Jr!”
I jumped at Sunset’s yell and ran back out of the door. I ran into her office; she recoiled back with a blonde-haired man leaning over her desk, holding her right arm. I growled, then stormed over and grabbed the fucker by the hair. He screamed as I pulled the hair near the base of his skull. He reached back and grabbed my arm as I walked him back. “Sunset, lock the door.” She nodded as I walked off the door. When I had him out of the door, it slammed shut, and I threw him back into a chair. I glared down at him, and he looked scared as he looked up at me then down at the guns on my side. “Get out.” He stared up at me, and I grabbed my gun. “NOW!” He fell out of the chair and took off for the door. I watched him run, and once he was out, I looked at a few of my guys. I nodded to the door then dragged my thumb over my throat. They nodded then walked out with a gun and knife on each. I looked at the other men and glared at them all before I pointed back to Sunset’s door. “Anyone touches her against her will and you’ll meet a fate worse than death, because he just wasted your only easy death.” I walked back over to my office and grabbed my coat before I stood in front of Sunset’s door and knocked on the door. A second later, it opened and Sunset smiled as she looked up at me. She grabbed a hold of my arm and leaned into it. I pulled my arm a little, but she held tight. I rolled my eyes, and she laughed as we walked.
“Thanks, Jr, but can you take me home? That left a bad taste in my mouth.”
I nodded, and she walked out of her office. I pulled a key out of my back then locked the door before holding it out to her. She took it then slipped it onto her key ring before we walked out of the offices. We walked down to the parking load shared with the hotel that butted up to the side of the office building. We walked outside, and I heard a gasp. I looked over and saw Pinkie with a group of new girls, and I guess her parents.
“Sunset you and Jr!?”
I waved my hand as I looked at her, and Sunset let my arm go and hid behind me. “I swear this is not what it looks like. We came from the office next door! I had an interview for an internship, and Sunset came along to help me get here.” Pinkie smirked and crossed her arm as she looked at us.
“So why was she holding onto your arm?”
Before I could come up with something, Sunset spoke up.
“One of the men in there grabbed my butt. Jr knocked him out, and we got kicked out of the office.”
Pinkie looked pissed, and she tried to run past us. “No, you don’t!” I grabbed her arm and pulled her back. I knew if she rushed to the office, they’d shoot her. “You are not going to go crazy in there. With energy like yours, it is like dropping a bomb.” I looked back at the group and nodded to Pinkie as Sunset wrapped her arm under Pinkie's arms to keep her from running into the office building. The woman came over and grabbed her ear, making her yell. Sunset let her go, and the older woman pulled her back over.
“The young man has already made a scene by punching someone. Besides, you need to get your shots.”
I laughed as I watched her eyes shrink as she turned to look at her.
“Shot!?”
I grabbed Sunset’s hand and pulled her along as the group dragged Pinkie around the corner to the hospital as she yelled about not wanting to get a shot. We got into my car, and Sunset laughed as she looked at Pinkie as she ran back to a van with a rough-looking girl behind her. “Not even going to ask.” I put it into drive, and I drove out once we saw Pinkie hitting her back as he carried her on her shoulder. Sunset laughed harder as I drove down the road. I smiled as I looked at her, then nodded my head. As I drove, my phone started to ring. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the phone to see Shining’s name. I answered the call and set it down on my lap.
“Yeah Shining?”
“Can you please explain why two men are going to dump a body?”
I smiled, and Sunset looked at me as I came to a stop at a red light. “He grabbed Sunset and was trying to force her to go with him. I will not tolerate that kind of action in my gangs. Now, with that out of the way, You and Cadence did great finding us that office building. And listen, you two should take off for a while. Take some of the leftover money and go do what you need to for the school year.” I had talked in a cool tone, and I think the message got across as he was quiet.
“How long till you need us back?”
I smiled, seeing he had got the idea I had going. “Oh, I’d say about a month after school starts.” He laughed a happy laugh before he spoke.
“Sounds good; we left some papers on your desk.”
“Ok y’all go have some fun.”
Shining hung up, and I looked at Sunset, who was smiling.
“So that’s the game you're playing.”
I smiled as I looked at her. “Loyal dogs never bite the hand that feeds.” She laughed some more than looked out the window. We rode in silence until her phone started to ring. She answered and spoke.
“Hello.”
“Hey, Wallflower, what’s up?”
“Oh? Well, I guess I could, but that's short notice. Maybe this weekend would be better. I just started working, so I can’t just take off.”
She was quiet for a second, then nodded to the left, and I turned at the end of the street.
“Ok, I’m on the way with a friend. I’m sure we can get you a bed for the night.”
I raised an eyebrow as I listened to her before she said we’d be there soon. Once she ended the call, she looked at me with a pissed look in her eyes.
“Do you have your pistols?”
I nodded and moved my coat at a red light, and she saw my right colt. I let my coat fall and nodded as I started to drive again. “Want to tell me what you just signed me up for?”
“A friend of mine named Wallflower has an abusive stepdad. She said he hit her again, and she’s walking around, not wanting to go home. She can stay with me for the night. The father knows where I live, so if he happens to show up, do you think you can handle it?”
I huffed and nodded as she pointed down the off main street. “Yeah, I can deal with him if he shows up and hopefully not have to kill him.” She smiled and nodded as she looked around. After a minute, I saw a green-haired girl in a sweater and blue jeans running down the sidewall with a large man behind her.
“That her!”
I turned hard, cut off a van, pulled into a parking lot, slammed the car into park, and jumped out. “Get in!” She didn’t need to be told twice, and I grabbed the man’s shirt when he tried to force me to the side. I kicked his knee and threw my arm around his neck as I took him to the ground. I grabbed a hold of my wrist and started to choke him out as he thrashed around in the ground. I tightened my hold on him, and he grabbed hold of my arm and shouted for me to let him go. “Sunset, call the cops! And close and lock the doors!”
“Okay!’
I heard the driver’s door close as he managed to get loose, being a little stronger than me. I got to my feet fast as he tried to stomp his foot on me. He jumped at me, and I sidestepped and kicked the back of his knees hard, making him drop to the ground. I tackled him and got him into another chokehold this time; I was under him and locked my legs around his stomach. I had a better hold this time, so it didn’t matter if he was stronger or not as he slowly started to pass out. I heard the police siren, and I let up some, and she gasped and started to thrash again as I heard the screeching wheel a minute later. I heard feet and then screaming.
“Let him go! Let him go!”
I did as I was told and threw him off, and an officer quickly grabbed my arm and pushed me away, and another cop did the same with him. The officer pulled out her cuffs, and I let her cuff me, and then she searched me, and I was glad I’d sent my guns away. She had me sit down as Sunset got out of the car when an officer asked her to get out, and Wallflower got out, and I noticed blood on her face now that I could look at her. She talked with an officer and then pointed at me a few times. The cop who hand-cuffed me was waved over. After a few minutes, the officer walked back over, helped me up, and took her cuffs off.
“Sorry sir, but with two men fighting on the ground we need to cuff you both so you don’t fight with us.”
I nodded as I took my jacket off, and I saw Sunset’s eyes go wide when she saw my guns were gone. I scratched my chin as I looked at her. “I get it, no reason you guys should put yourself at more risk.” She smiled then nodded as the man kicked and screamed as they forced him into the back of the cop car. I nodded my head as I looked at him as he fought them. I winced when he scored a kick to one of the men in the nuts and tried to run.
“Taser! Taser!”
A man shot him with his taser, and he dropped to the ground. They barked an order, and after another hit, he gave up. “Some people just don’t need to live around other people.”
“Yep.”
I smiled as I looked at the cop, and she sighed as she rubbed her face before starting to walk over to them.
“Get him in the car we need to get back and get the paperwork done.”
She waved to us as she got into her car. I waved back to her as they all pulled off. I smiled once they were gone and looked back at the two girls. “So who wants lunch?”
