Chapters Chapter 1: Starting the Plan
Diamond Tiara had had enough with her overbearing mother. For the past five months, she and her mother have been at odds with one another, and it's gotten to the point where Diamond Tiara has reached the final straw. So instead of going home, she had other plans today.
"Hey Silver Spoon, would you mind going home on your own? I have...something I need to do before I go home." Diamond Tiara said.
"Okay...sure." Silver Spoon said. She knew her best friend didn't really have anything to do before going home, but she did know Spoiled Rich had been too overbearing on Diamond Tiara to the point where Silver Spoon feared that Diamond Tiara would break in one way or another.
Now split off from Silver Spoon, Diamond Tiara headed to Sweet Apple Acres so she could go to the Cutie Mark Crusader Clubhouse. After finding the path to the clubhouse, Diamond Tiara carefully approached the clubhouse and heard the three fillies in question discussing things.
"So, any ideas on what we should do while we wait for someone else to come to us with a Cutie Mark Problem, Crusaders?" Apple Bloom's voice was first.
"I don't know about you girls, but I'm feeling like we should take today to chill at the fountain. It's a nice sunny day that's neither too hot nor too cold to enjoy a little R & R; if we did everything everyday, eventually we'd run out of stuff to do." Sweetie Belle's voice was second.
"Rainbow Dash did say that it's important to take days off from time to time; she says it prevents burnout." Scootaloo's voice was third. Knowing all three were inside, Diamond Tiara moved to knock on the door.
"Huh? That's funny...we don't usually get knocks." Apple Bloom said after Diamond Tiara knocked on the door. Opening, the farm filly was surprised to find the rich pony standing there.
"Hey girls...hope I'm not interrupting anything..." Diamond Tiara said.
"Nah. Your not really interupting anything. What's bugging you?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"It's my mother...she's being super overbearing again." Diamond Tiara said.
"Seriously? How long before she realizes she's continually pushing you away?" Scootaloo asked.
"I don't think she cares anymore. And that's why I need your help." Diamond Tiara said. "I know it's not usually something you'd do...but I need help making my mother become a better pony. I am at my breaking point here. Silver Spoon knows this after me staying over every Friday night for almost five weeks straight. And I really don't know how much more I can take my mother's overbearing nature before I do something I can't take back." She said.
"But why come to us? We help with cutie mark problems...not really familial problems." Apple Bloom said.
"Because Twilight already tried sitting me and my mother down for a talk. My mother acted the entire time, told Twilight EXACTLY what our newest princess wanted to hear, and then went back to doing the same thing all over again. So I need assurance that this time it's gonna stick for good. No more acting, this has to be for real." Diamond Tiara said.
"Why not just tell Twilight about your mother's acting?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Even if I did, Twilight isn't trained to know when somepony is acting. I do. I know when someone fakes doing something by acting. Which is why I really need to make sure this whole thing of getting my mother to become a better pony STICKS this time." Diamond Tiara said.
"Well, we'll be glad to help in any ways we can. Maybe we should start with your mother's cutie mark. Might give us some insight on how we can go about changing her attitude." Scootaloo said.
"...You know, I don't think I've ever asked my mother how she got her cutie mark. And I really don't want to find out before I face her again." Diamond Tiara said.
"Yeah...after how much you've suffered, I doubt even I'd want to go ask her." Scootaloo said.
"Plus, I bet she'd say something 'Diamond Tiara, I don't see how that is really necessary information for you to move up in the world' or something like that." Diamond Tiara said.
"Considering the brief encounter we had with your mom the day we got our cutie marks, I can totally see her saying that." Sweetie Belle said.
"But that just puts us back as square one..." Scootaloo said.
"Not really..." Apple Bloom said. "Maybe there's a way to find out without her knowing she's revealing it." She said. "Ah think it's time ah called in ma favor with Featherwieght." Apple Bloom Declared.
"How does he owe you a favor?" Diamond Tiara asked.
"Ah had some spare ink he could use for the foal free press which he is currently working in his spare time." Apple Bloom said.
"Right. That old thing." Diamond Tiara said.
Featherweight knocked on the door of the residence of the Riches.
"Oh? Are you lost?" Spoiled Rich asked the colt.
"Not really mam. My name is Featherweight, and the owner of Foal Free Press is giving me a shot at producing a story all of my own choosing. So, I figured what better story would be good news then a story about the cutie marks of high society. And as a person on the schoolboard, I figured I'd start with you." Featherweight said. It was all a lie of course, but his words carried confidence.
"Huh...how about that? Someone who actually gets how important I am." Spoiled Rich said. "Sadly, there's not much to tell...one day, I came across a stale with a diamond ring on display as well as other jewerly. But for some reason when I was looking at it all, I found it was all fake. So, I took the fake diamond ring..." Spoiled Rich began.
"...Proceeded to smash it on the ground, revealing it to be a fake. Suddenly, all the ponies who bought stuff from the fraud jeweler demanded a refund from him. After the incident, she got her cutie mark." Featherweight relayed to the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
"...Well that doesn't really help us much." Scootaloo said.
"Not really...there's still a way we can turn this around. Sweetie Belle, see if you can ask Rarity for some gems. I'm going to go over to Silver Spoon's tonight." Diamond Tiara said, and leaves.
"Sounds like she has a plan, and we better follow it." Sweetie Belle said.
"Never thought ah'd say this...but I like this new Diamond Tiara." Apple Bloom said.
Diamond Tiara went over to Silver Spoon's house; making sure her mother knew where she was going to be tonight instead of at home. Thankfully, Diamond Tiara knew her mother would approve of the pink filly staying over at Silver Spoon's house. Now she could get Silver Spoon's help with her plan.
"So let me get this straight, you want me to see if I can make a fake version of your diamond tiara?" Silver Spoon asked.
"If it's not too much trouble that is...I really want to make my mother a better pony, and I'm hoping this'll be the first step in doing so." Diamond Tiara said. "Look, I know I boss you around quite a bit...but I really need your help. I don't think I'll be able to make my mother a better pony without any help." She said.
"Well...I suppose I help out. But your going to have to help me with my math homework tonight in exchange." Silver Spoon said.
"Fair enough." Diamond Tiara said and Silver Spoon started to go to work. "...Thank you for doing this Silver Spoon." Diamond Tiara said, smiling.
"...It's nothing, Diamond Tiara." Silver Spoon said, continuing to work. Diamond Tiara sighed.
"Look, if your still upset over the whole election thing...I've said I'm sorry to you several times that day and I've done my best to be a better friend. Is it really too much to ask for us to go back to what we had?" Diamond Tiara asked her friend.
"You still have work to do on that front, Diamond Tiara." Silver Spoon said. Diamond Tiara sighed again.
"I suppose I'll get started on that math homework for you..." Diamond Tiara said. She went to work right away without a second thought. Thankfully, it was quite easy for her, finishing it up as Silver Spoon approached the half-way point of her work. Thinking of doing her friend a favor, she soon looked at the rest of Silver Spoon's homework, smiled, and got to work on it next.
I'll show Silver Spoon I can be a good friend by helping her with some more of her homework. Diamond Tiara said and got to work on history next. It was her least favorite subject, but she swallowed her own pride to figure it out and she managed to get it done for Silver Spoon just as the gray filly finished the Tiara.
"All done Diamond Tia--" Silver Spoon noticed Diamond Tiara had finished both her math and history homework. "...Wait you took care of my history homework even though you hate that subject?" Silver spoon asked. Diamond Tiara nodded.
"Isn't that a part of being a good friend sometimes doing things you don't normally want to do?" Diamond Tiara asked. Silver Spoon smiled.
"Well maybe I have been a little cold to you even though you've done your best to be a good friend to me again." Silver Spoon said. "I do miss us being friends, I just was unsure if you really were going to put forth the effort of making sure we stay friends this time." She admitted.
"Please...it'd take you doing something that would endanger lives for me to not put forth that sort of effort to be your friend and make sure we stay that way this time." Diamond Tiara said. "Just...I hope your okay with hanging out with the Crusaders too. They've really been helping me out with being a good friend. They've really been such good friends, and I really want you to hang out with us." She said.
"Do I have to hang out with them? Their so...different from us." Silver Spoon said.
"They are different from us, that's for sure. But they are also different from one another. Apple Bloom prefers hard work, Sweetie Belle enjoys designing things, and Scootaloo is a daredevil to the bone. But despite those differences they've made it work between the three of them, and they've even allowed me into their friend circle after I did a lot of damage control at School. You think your the first one I've had to help with homework? I've already helped a lot of the other kids too, just to show how sorry I am. Sure I'm still going down that list...but I've also really been trying to reconnect with you." Diamond Tiara explained.
"Wow...you really have been doing a lot of changing. The old you would never have done this stuff." Silver Spoon said.
"Like I said, the cutie mark crusaders have REALLY been helping me out. And you know what? I feel good now. I feel like I'm freeing myself from the past bit by bit. My past is not today, not by a long shot." Diamond Tiara said, smiling. Silver Spoon smiled and hugged her friend.
"Well, I suppose I can try to be friends with the Cutie Mark Crusaders; though I might need some help with that...if you don't mind." Silver Spoon said.
"Consider it done, Silver Spoon." Diamond Tiara said. She looked at the finished Tiara Replica. "And this looks perfect!" She said and took off her own crown. "I can hardly tell the difference. If I can remind my mom of her special talent, it might make her ease up a little." Diamond Tiara said.
"You really think this whole plan of yours is going to work?" Silver Spoon asked.
"That's what I'm hoping for. I don't know for sure if it will work or not, but I have to try something. Otherwise, if this plan doesn't work, I'm telling daddy." Diamond Tiara said.
"Why haven't you told him yet?" Silver Spoon asked.
"Because I REALLY want to try. Plus, this is like my test, to see if I can free myself from the past completely." Diamond Tiara said.
"And what happens if you fail?" Silver Spoon asked.
"I won't. Sure this might not work, but I have other ways to try. Of course if everything I try fails, then I just have to accept that my mother will never change and I have to free myself from her shackles through my father." Diamond Tiara said. Silver Spoon smiled.
"Now THIS is the Diamond Tiara I remember." Silver Spoon said. "Bump." She said, starting their best friend sign.
"Bump!" Diamond Tiara followed.
"Sugar Lump Rump!" The two finished together and then hugging one another. All the while, Diamond Tiara smiled. She had her best friend back at last. Now if only she could fix her mother...
Diamond Tiara sighed as she got to school that Monday.
"What's up?" Apple Bloom asked.
"Admittedly, it was a valent effort...I thought for a moment as soon as my mother realized which tiara was the fake one that there was going to be progress...but then she just went on and on all until bedtime hit about how very close to being real the fake tiara looked. It was so much so that I couldn't have been happier to go to bed." Diamond Tiara admitted. "I thought for sure that it meant she'd change first thing tomorrow, but all that really happened was further argument between my mother and my father about Ponyville as a whole..." Diamond Taira said. Silver Spoon thankfully was there to also comfort her best friend.
"Well at least it got her to calm down for a day." Silver Spoon said.
"Key word being for a day. No offense, but Diamond Tiara needs more then a day." Scootaloo said.
"Scootaloo is right; we need something else...something bigger!" Sweetie Belle said.
"Let's not get crazy here. I have other methods." Diamond Tiara said. "For the rest of this week, I'm going to really put my best hoof forward in doing well in class; we are getting our mid-semester report cards in the mail this weeekend, and I'm hoping that by improving my grades, mother will back off from getting on my case about the friends I make." Diamond Tiara said.
"That's not a bad idea..." Apple Bloom Said.
That next monday, Diamond Tiara once again came to school distraught.
"...Let me guess, once again nothing really came about it?" Apple Bloom asked.
"Well father could not have been more proud of the grades I've gotten the day they came, but it devolved into a two day debate over the weekend between my parents again." Diamond Tiara said. "I really thought it'd show my mother that I really love the public school system, but she once again is threatening private school on me." She added.
"Okay, do we need to grab Twilight's attention now? Because I don't know if I can take you moving to a private school." Sweetie Belle said. "...Never thought I'd see the day when I'd say that." She added.
"Same here. And I never thought I'd see the day when I'd agree with that statement." Scootaloo said.
"We've all been getting really close. I'm just not sure how much longer we should wait." Silver Spoon said.
"Hold off on that; father is going to be home early from work today, and I'm thinking of chatting him up about business stuff before he and mom start arguing again." Diamond Tiara said. "Maybe by showing my mother just how great I can be as a leader, she'll be pratically begging me to stay local." She said.
"You really think that's going to work?" Apple Bloom asked.
"It has to; mom looks like she's about to get physical with both my father and me." Diamond Tiara said.
Diamond started to head home after school that day, when she bumped into a strange stallion.
"Oh...my apologies sir. I should've payed more attention to where I was going." Diamond Tiara said.
"...You are someone who looks like they could use what I have to give well..." The stallion said. Suddenly he handed Diamond Tiara a strange perfume bottle. "Have someone you trust spray this on themselves; the rest I will leave you to discover." The Stallion spoke and then left.
"Um..." Diamond Tiara tried to catch his attention about price, but found herself loosing the stallion in a large crowd wanting to play a make-shift carnival game set up by Pinkie Pie. "...Okay that was weird..." Diamond Tiara said and headed for home.
Diamond Tiara talked with her father that night, and gave him that perfume bottle which looked a lot like a cologne bottle for men. Why a stallion gave her a cologne bottle when she was a filly was beyond her. What's more, the stallion never asked for anything in return. It was the strangest thing.
But the next day, she found herself stunned beyond belief: Not only was her mother suddenly being super nice to her, but was not upset at the pink filly when Diamond Tiara told her mother she was going to hang out with the Crusaders after school today. She didn't even make any mockery.
"...It was if something just...happened overnight." Diamond Tiara said. "I don't know if my father had a good long talk with my mother or what it was, but suddenly my mother is super nice." Diamond Tiara said.
"But isn't this what you wanted? To have her be nice?" Scootaloo asked.
"Maybe...but ah I bet Diamond Tiara can tell that something feels off here..." Apple Bloom said.
"Well now that you mention it..." Scootaloo said. "It does sound out of character for Spoiled Rich. Maybe talk with your father about it at least?" She suggested.
"Yeah. Sounds like a good idea." Diamond Tiara said.
Diamond Tiara went up to her father after she got back home. "Hey daddy, do you think something off about mother?" Diamond Tiara asked.
"Well...she did start acting this way since last night when I decided in the middle of our argument to spray on that cologne you brought back home. Not that I'm complaining mind you. Perhaps she's finally decided to be the mother figure that you deserved to have this entire time." Filthy Rich told his daughter.
"I guess...I suppose I might as well see if it lasts though." Diamond Tiara said and headed upstairs to her room, but found her jaw drop to the floor when she saw her mother cleaning it up.
"Oh! Your back so soon. I thought I'd be a great mother to you and clean up your room for a change of pace. I must say, it was quite enjoyable." Spoiled Rich said.
"Mother...something is wrong...very wrong..." Diamond Tiara said. "You'd NEVER clean up ANYONES room for ANY reason..." She said.
"Why ever would I not want to? It's what a mother is supposed to do for their children, after all." Spoiled Rich said. Diamond Tiara suddenly left her room and found the perfume in question to get some answers.
The perfume was labeled "Heartfelt Wish" and the detailed description disturbed Diamond Tiara beyond belief.
"Only to be worn by stallions who are in a relationship with a mare that was not the one they married; makes the married mare behave and act according to the Stallion's Wishes"
Diamond Tiara needed to find that Stallion who gave her this...

Chapter 4: Passing Perfume
Ironically, finding the stallion was easier then Diamond Tiara figured it'd be, he was once again in town as a huge crowd had gathered.
"I take it you gave my gift to your father." The Stallion said.
"It was cologne...who else was I supposed to give it to?" Diamond Tiara said.
"My gift to you is unique in that it would change depending on who you trusted the most. I did not foresee this being your father." The Stallion noted.
"Outside of possibly the cutie mark crusaders and silver spoon, there wasn't really anyone I could've trusted with my mother. And I can barely think of what one of the girls would've done to my mother." Diamond Tiara said. "As much as I trust them, I wanted this to be a family matter first...and I'm guessing my father was not the best choice..." She said.
"Your friends can be trusted more then you think. Bring the special bottle back to me, and I will fix this." The Stallion said.
"All...all right..." Diamond Tiara said and went off to do so. It didn't take her long to bring back the strange perfume, which has shifted the further she got away from home. It only had the name of 'Heartfelt Wish' on it now and looked like it did when she first got it.
"You know who you should give it to after this. Trust in your friends with this, young one." The Stallion said and vanished once again.
"...Sure...I suppose I should..." Diamond Tiara said.
While Diamond Tiara HAD to put up with her normal mother again for a day (hiding the bottle from her father so he couldn't find it so he would think he used the last bit of it yesterday), she brought it forth with the crusaders the next day. Silver Spoon had gladly joined them.
"...So that's why I'm here now. I do hope you girls will help me..." Diamond Tiara said.
"I don't know if I 100% agree with using something a stranger gave you on your mother in the first place..." Scootaloo admitted.
"What else is Diamond Tiara supposed to do? Figure out how to change her mother's mind on her own? Ah can guarantee that ain't gonna happen." Apple Bloom pointed out.
"Apple Bloom speaks the truth...based on how negative Spoiled Rich was being on Diamond Tiara without this...this may be the only way to make her...normal." Silver Spoon said.
"But wouldn't Spoiled Rich need to be in constant contact with whoever wears this? Can't you use it, Diamond Tiara?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"The stallion who gave it to me made it very clear that it has to be used by someone other then me." Diamond Tiara said.
"Actually, we may not even be sure that that is how this works. I suggest one of us try it out, and see what happens from there." Silver Spoon said.
"But then who? I'd rather it be someone who has Diamond Tiara's best interests at heart." Scootaloo said.
"Look, I know I was a bitch to you and the girls in the past...but I really trust you girls." Diamond Tiara said. "So for me...please do the right thing." She said.
"...Well you've got a point. We do want you to have a better mom." Scootaloo said. "But I may not be the...best example of that. I stay with my aunts all the time because my parents are away so much." She added. "So I don't have the best guess as to how a mother should act." She explained.
"Actually, we know how mothers should act. We just probably don't realize that we know." Sweetie Belle said. "And to make that clear, I propose Apple Bloom uses it." She said.
"What?! Me?" Apple Bloom said.
"Like I said, you know how a mother should act towards their child. You just don't know it yet. We all do. Heck, my own parents are hardly even around. But I know what a good mother is deep down. And I believe that is true for all five of us." Sweetie Belle said.
"You really think so?" Silver Spoon asked.
"I know so." Sweetie Belle said.
"Well okay Sweetie..." Apple Bloom sprayed the perfume on herself. "...If your certain of it..." She said.
The next day, it was if Spoiled Rich was once again a really good mother, in fact even better then when her father was using the strange perfume. And unlike before, Spoiled wasn't doing anything that the servants would do instead but did do some things around the house. Just not anything like being a maid and a mom all in one.
In the progressing Days, Diamond Tiara's friends all tried the perfume on and found that nothing really changed between them.
"Seems Sweetie Belle was right after all...we do know what a good mother is supposed to be like, and we'd do it again in a heartbeat." Scootaloo said.
"I TOLD you..." Sweetie Belle said.
"May not have been for a cutie mark related problem, but I'm glad you girls were willing to do this. All of you." Diamond Tiara said.
"But there's one issue...correct me if I'm wrong, isn't this thing almost empty?" Silver Spoon asked.
"Oh dear...what happens if it runs out?" Apple Bloom asked.
"I don't know...only one way to find out maybe?" Diamond Tiara asked.
"Is that a risk your willing to take?" Scootaloo asked.
"I've been looking for that stallion once I noticed we were using it a lot...but I can't seem to find him again..." Diamond Tiara said.
"That's not good..." Silver Spoon said.
"Are we really going to be back at square one?" Apple Bloom asked.
"I should hope not..." Sweetie Belle said.
"I'll talk with my mom later..." Diamond Tiara said.
"You do that." Scootaloo said.
Diamond Tiara returned home later that day and went up to her mother.
"Mother...there's something I'd like to talk to you about..." Diamond Tiara said.

Chapter 5: Changing a Spoiled Mind
Previously, Diamond Tiara and her friends discovered that the perfume was running low.
Detirmined not to start over at square one, Diamond Tiara has decided that it was now or never; today was the day she'd talk to her mother. REALLY talk to her.
"Mother...there's something I'd like to talk to you about..." Diamond Tiara said to her mother.
"Of course my dear, Diamond Tiara. Do I need to fetch your father?" Spoiled Rich asked.
"No...in fact...let's take this to my room." Diamond Tiara said, and led her mother into her room.
"So has...something been bugging you, my sweet daughter?" Spoiled Rich asked.
"Yeah...your behavior. I know you've been really good about wanting to be a good mother recently...but before that...to say you were anything less then a prime A you know what, would be an understatement." Diamond Tiara said. As good of a mother as her mother was right now, she was sure that Spoiled would wash her mouth out with soup if Diamond Tiara said bitch just then.
"I...I see..." Spoiled Rich said. "I am proud of you for choosing not to say what I believe you were hinting towards. Still...that is a little...harsh to be saying the way I was acting." She said.
"Well you were harsh on me, threating to tear me apart from a school system I've actually come to enjoy, friends that actually care about me, and a life I don't think I'd have without all of it." Diamond Tiara said. "You may want me to follow in your hoofsteps, but have you ever once considered what it is that I want? Have you ever cared about how I felt? Before this...you most defiantly did not. So while I will apologize for using such harsh words to describe the way you were, the fact of the matter is it doesn't make those words any more adpt." She explained.
"I..." Spoiled Rich couldn't hold back any longer. She broke down.
"Now...that's not to say you can't change. I changed, and so can you." Diamond Tiara said. "Be honest with yourself, do you really believe that the only way to get ahead in life is to constantly look down on others? You've seen the way I've been handling myself just fine without doing that. And look where I am now: I'm actually respected, I'm treated right, and I even have great friends." Diamond Tiara said. "And those friends, no matter where they are in the social ladder, are connections I've formed. Sure, they may not be much now, and sure they are a little rough around the edges. But so is any pony. No pony is perfect. Not even me. Not even you. Not even father." Diamond Tiara said.
"But...I thought you loved your father..." Spoiled was brought out of her crying by Diamond Tiara's words. The pink filly smiled.
"I do mom. I love daddy to bits and can't imagine having a better father then him. And that's because he's actually such a great dad. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have his faults." Diamond Tiara said. "Yet, despite those faults...I couldn't have asked for a better father." She added. "We all have our faults mother...and that's okay. It's okay to have those faults. It's okay not to be perfect. Because I've learnt from the friends I've made, the life I've lived, and the things I've done, that nopony is perfect. All that matters, is that we be ourselves. No matter what social standing we may or may not have...we just have to be ourselves, and soon true success will find it's way. Just look at me: Despite my past and what I've done, I can now safely say I have five really great friends; friends I wouldn't dare trade for anything in the world. Sure, Silver Spoon is also in high society, but because of the school election, I've had to do a lot of rebuilding to make her my friend again." Diamond Tiara explained. "And then there's the cutie mark crusaders. Scootaloo's a daredevil who struggles to fly, but dreams of one day being able to sour into the sky. Sweetie Belle has trouble using her magic, yet she has an amazing singing voice. Apple Bloom is a farm girl to her core, but she also understands the importance of family." She listed. "Every one of my five closest friends has something to them that is faulty, but that doesn't make them any less important then me. I've come to realize it's not about your social standing, it's about the connections you make that really make you who you are." Diamond Tiara said. "And I mean the real connections; not the fake ones you buy with money. I have five geninuine connections in life; connections that are real and have structure. And those connections will last a lifetime." She said. "That's more real then anything." Diamond Tiara finished.
Spoiled Rich broke down in tears once more. Diamond Tiara hugged her crying mother.
"I'm so...so sorry Diamond Tiara..." Spoiled Rich said. "Can you ever forgive me for not seeing this sooner?" She asked.
"I already have." Diamond Tiara said with a smile. "Something else I've learnt about making these connections, is that sometimes it's not a good thing to hold grudges." She added.
"You are making me so proud right now..." Spoiled Rich said. "Thank you...for giving me a chance to be your mother again..." She added.
"You better not squander it this time." Diamond Tiara said. "Now, I would like to invite my friends over for some quality play time. Is that okay?" Diamond Tiara asked.
"Of course Diamond Tiara...they are your friends after all. No matter who they are, I must accept them." Spoiled Rich.
Even though the perfume was never used again after that, the conversation stuck. Spoiled Rich became a much better mother after that, and even allowed her daughter to be friends with the ponies she was friends with.
Diamond Tiara couldn't help but smile and wonder something...
With the upcoming Hoofloose, just what else awaited her on the horizon?

Epilogue: Eight Years Later
Diamond Tiara and Apple Bloom woke up together in their shared bed.
"Good morning Deets..." Apple Bloom greeted Diamond Tiara. The pink mare smiled.
"Good Morning Apps." Diamond Tiara said as the couple got out of bed. "It's official, tomorrow is the day of our double wedding. Hard to believe that eight years ago, Sweetie Belle broke up with Button Mash and at the same time Spike caught Rarity with that stallion." She added.
"And it's hard to believe eight years ago, your mother wasn't as supportive as she is now." Apple Bloom said. "I'm surprised she didn't have any objection to us getting married; what with us both being mares and all." She added.
"I think she's finally starting to act more like a mother, but I still can't seem to get over the way she was before that whole thing that happened eight years ago." Diamond Tiara said.
"It's nice to know you didn't turn out the same way as your mother." Apple Bloom said.
"I believe I have you to thank for that, my juicy Apple..." Diamond Tiara said.
"Flirting with me already, are you my lovely Diamond?" Apple Bloom asked, smirking.
"So what if I am? You love me for it. And even if you have your faults, I couldn't ask for a better mare to fall in love with." Diamond Tiara said.
"Same here. You've come a long way in eight years." Apple Bloom said. She noticed Diamond Tiara was writting something. "What are ya working on, Deets?" Apple Bloom said.
"Just a little story I plan on embarrassing my mother with after the wedding is over." Diamond Tiara said. "I figured I might as well remind her that she wasn't the best mother figure in my life." She added.
"Too true. So, what are you going to call the story?" Apple Bloom asked.
"Easy: Changing A Spoiled Mind." Diamond Tiara said.
"Would you read it to me?" Apple Bloom asked.
"I don't see why not..." Diamond Tiara said and then began reading. "Diamond Tiara had had enough with her overbearing mother. For the past five months, she and her mother have been at odds with one another, and it's gotten to the point where Diamond Tiara has reached the final straw. So instead of going home, she had other plans today." She started.
All the while, Apple Bloom smiled and let the love of her life recount the details of eight years ago...

Yep, this story ends similar to how it began; a callback to the book "The Outsiders" which had the final lines start the story all over from the beginning. I also decided to connect this epilogue to probably my most popular series "Suddenly Sisters: The Trilogy" which you can check out here:
I hope you've enjoyed this story; I look forward to meeting you in the future for more things like this.
