A Mother's Gift: Chapter 8.

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Sunset rummaged through an old and dusty box, the grey rectangular object had been opened and she had decided to revisit some old memories.

Sunrise was watching her mother dig through the time capsule, looking back at the old photos, bringing a tear to the former pony-turned-human's eye.

"Mom? Are you ok?" Sunrise asked concerned, hugging her mother in a loving attempt to make her feel better.

Sunset just chuckled and hugged her daughter back. Smiling at how sweet, mature and caring her baby girl had become.

As Sunset neared the end of the box, she grabbed pieces of folded leather and held it in her arms, feeling a wave of pure nostalgia hit her. Tears brimmed in her eyes as she remembered how many times she had worn it in her life. She didn't want to sell it and never see it again, or give it to charity.

There had been rips within that Rarity had sewn up and made it look good as new. She held her eternal thanks to her friend.

"I'm fine sweetie. It's just that this is really nostalgic, and brings back so many memories for me. This jacket, these jeans, dress and boots here is what I wore when I was your age, or at least a few years older. I can see it's shrunk sadly." Sunset answered, clutching the items of clothing tightly to her chest.

"I'm so sorry mom." Sunrise concoled her mother, snuggling up in her arms and trying to make her smile.

"Don't be honey, I think it might fit you actually. Would you like to try it on? I can't think of anyone better to give it to than my sweet little girl." Sunset cooed, ruffling her daughter's hair, eliciting a giggle from the teen.

"Thanks mom, and sure. I guess I'd like to try and see if it fits." Sunrise answered happily.

Sunset unfolded the clothing and helped her daughter undress, helping her into the dress, jeans and combat boots. A perfect fit.

Sunrise looked so much like her mother used to when she wore the jacket, dress, jeans and boots. Not only by the looks, but the jacket and everything else made Sunset smile as if she were seeing a younger version of herself.

Sunset clapped her hands excitedly and zipped up the jacket, makng Sunrise giggle happily.

"It really fits you now, sweetheart. I'd like you to have it." Sunset softly asked, pulling her daughter into a hug. The two stayed like that for a while before breaking apart.

Sunrise took off the old clothes, got dressed into her previous ones and folded them neatly in her arms, looking down at the gifts her mother had given her.

"Thanks mom, I'll cherish it forever, I promise." Sunrise said, hugging the items tightly, making her mother smile.

"You're welcome sweetheart, I'm so proud of you and I always will be. I love you so much." Sunset cooed, hugging her daughter tightly in her embrace.

"I love you too, mom. You're the best." The girl answered happily as she broke out of the warm and cozy embrace. She walked off towards her room as Sunset let out a sigh at the memories stored within the box as she put it back within the attic she had taken it from.

She's so much like me. I'm so proud of her. Sunset thought to herself, giving the time capsule one final glance as she locked it back up.
