Chapters Author's Note
Hi! So this is my very first story on this site. As such I am very interested on your thoughts on it. I know it far from perfect, but this was an idea I had for awhile now. Feel free to point out any spelling errors.
Pain and hopelessness
Everypony was quiet.
Pinkamena's gaze was firmly locked on the table. Abousetly refusing to meet any ponies gaze. The young foal felt her heart race with anxiety and fear. She knew that what was about to happen next wasn't going to be pretty. However she aslo knew that there was no turning back now.
"Well?" Cloudy Quartz questioned. The mare stood beside her husband on the other side of the table. Both peonies looked far from pleased. In fact Cloudy was praticily gritting her teeth in anger. In reponse the pink mare slowly lifted her head up. Her gaze filling with anger and defiance. "Well what?!" She snapped. In the corner of her eye she saw four sets of eyes peeking from around the corner. Each one being filled with fear and concern. Howver the pink mare didn't dare tear her gaze away from her parents. If she did than her own sisters would share the very same fate she was about to endure. In the foal's mind it was better this way. Better her than them. At least she could take what was coming next. For the most part anyway. Upon receiving her reponse Igneous rock slams his hoof upon the table. The force was stronger enough to leave a noticeable dent in it's structure. The pink goal did her best not to visibly flinch.
"Did you or did you not refuse to do any farm work?!" The older stallion snapped. From the expression on his face Pinkamena knew that there was no turning back now. Lifting her head the foal said two words that praticily sealed her fate.
"Fuck you"
Silence.
For several long seconds Pinkamena waited for the inevitable. The expressions on her parents face was one of utter shock. Thier mouth hanging open and thier eyes wide. They practically were the bear their equivalent of a fish out of water. They looked so ridiculous that the pink foal couldn't help but laugh at thier expressions.
Big mistake.
What happened next was something the pink foal didn't expect. One second she was busy laughing her flank off, and in the next she was on the floor starring vaguely at the ceiling. The foal's vision swarmed as a fresh wave of pain exploded on the right side of her face. The pain was so intense that the foal had to bite her lip in order not to scream. "Get up" her father ordered. The stallion looked down at her. A mixture of rage and disappointment on his face. In reponse Pinkamena spat a tiny mouth full of blood in his direction. A second later she felt a large hoof strike her side. Pinkamena couldn't help but scream as she felt something break. The pink foal saw little black dots at the corner of her vision. Said dots quickly began to grow in size. However just before she can pass out somepony struck her in the face. Her mind immediately jolted back to conclusions. Upon opening her eyes she saw the hate filled eyes of her mother staring back down at her. Igneous stood by her side. His expression reminded relatively the same as before. The foal was crying now. The pain being too munch for her young mind to handle. Despite this she glared back at her mother. "Would you like to apologize?" Cloudy asked coldly. The filly shook her head Weakly. Gathering every ounce of strength she left Pinkamena spoke.
"I w-wish you were dead."
Gritting her teeth Cloudy rasied her hoof. Pinkamena merely glared refusing to look away. If she was gonna face her mother's wraith then so be it. However the pink foal aslo knew that she couldn't take munch more. At least not without a serious trip to the hospital. It was in this moment that she realized this could very well be her last day on equestria. Oddly that brought a sense of comfort to the foal. Maybe her pain would finally end. Howver she aslo realized that if she indeed died here than what would happen to the rest of her family? Nothing good. In fact her younger siblings could be next up on the chopping block. That realization made her eyes go wide with fear. Screw her, her life didn't matter in the slightest, but her siblings? They didn't deserve that type of fate. Just as she thought this Cloudy brought her hoof down.
"WAIT!"
Cloudy''s hoof froze near inches from her face. Looking over her shoulder the mother saw two of her daughters standing at the kitchen entrance. Both of whom had tears running down thier faces. Turning her head Pinkamena stared at her sister's in horror. She tried to tell them off, but a new wave of pain stopped her from doing so. Looking back down at her daughter Cloudy smirked. "Dear how about you put Pinkamena here in the cellar?" igneous noded. Chuckling Cloudy walks over to her two other daughters. Who both had a look of utter terror on thier faces. "Meanwhile I'll teach these two a lesson in privacy."
"NO!" The pink mare shouted. Only to scream in pain as Igneous picked her up like a sack of bricks. Try as she not Pinkamena couldn't escape his hold. At least not without screaming in agony every time she did so. As the two made it outside Pinkamena could be do nothing but stare at her house in horror.
It wasn't long before the screams started.
Crying the pink filly couldn't help but feel that everything was her fault. She failed to protect all three of her siblings when it matterd the most. She failed to keep away the monsters that were her parents. She failed all of that and more. Balling her eyes out Pinkamena felt a crack in her physic. However that did little to distract her from current events.
It didnt take long for them to arrive at thier current destination. Once there Igneous threw open the cellar door. The sight that greeted them was one of complete darkness. However that alone didn't stop her father from slowly descending the stairs. Almost immediately the smell of piss and shit hit them, and hit them hard. So munch so that Igneous nearly gagged in reponse. As they continued thier decent they began to hear sounds of movement coming from the bottom. Suddenly the movements ceased. Only for an ear piercing scream to take it's place. Howver that quickly morphed into humorless laughter. When igneous was at the bottom step he stopped. It was in that moment that a voice spoke. The voice itself sounded extremely young. Howver something about it sounded off. It wasn't the voice of a rational pony. Rather the voice itself sounded manic. Like the pony was on a different world far from thier own.
"Insects are eating my insides!" The voice yelled. "Spiders whisper in my sleep." Both ponies heard hoof steps coming towards them. "In the dark the hanged mare speaks." Suddenly the tone of the voice changed. Sounding munch more naive and innocent. "Why doesn't mommy and daddy love us?" The voice changed again. This time it sounded rasp. It aslo had a clear tone of anger behind it. "Because they hate every single one of us."
A pony steps into thier point of view. This pony was a colt with a coat and mane just as dark as the night itself. He looked extremely skinny and nourished. Despite this he stood on all fours hooves with little difficulty. His eyes were a mixed color. One was a light green while the other was a dark blue. Both eyes howver burned with a anger never befor seen on a colts face. " and I hate them too" he seethed. Suddenly he blinked and his expression changed. Instead of anger he had a blank look on his face. "Insects are eating my insides" he mumbled. "In the dark the hanged mare speaks.
"Igneous just shook his head in disgust. "Damn demon child" he mumbled. Decided he seen enough Igneous drops Pinkamena onto the cold hard floor. The pink mare screamed in agony having been unfortunate to land on the wrong side. The colt flinches befor immediately running to her side. Igneous on the other hoof turned and made his exit.
"Are you okay?' The colt asked. Tears were running down his face upon realizing just how much pain she was in. Pinkamena didn't respond. Instead she reached out Weakly towards the colt. For his part he immediately understood what she wanted. Very gentle as if he was holding a fragile flower the colt hugged his sister. Being careful not to put pressure onto her body. "It's my fault!" She walled. Just as she spoke the sound of a door being slammed shut can be heard. Immediately both younglings were surrounded in complete darkness. In that darkness Pinkamena cried, and in that darkness the colt's voice can be heard as clear as day.
"In the dark the hanged mare speaks."
The hunter or the hunted.
A lone earth pony mare can be seen walking through the empty dark city of Bolthoof. This mare was a pale yellow earth pony with a bright yellow mane and tail. The mare aslo had a knot for a cutie mark. If one were to look at her appearance one would say that she looked very attractive. At least by pony standards. On the mare's chest was a pony shaped medallion. Her eyes were a pale brown color. Those very same eyes were glancing around her surroundings warily. This is was due to the string of unsolved murders that plagued Botlhloof. For the last few months. Ponies of all kinds would be found dead in alleyways. So far the numbers of ponies killed were 19. This alone scared the residence senseless. If that wasn't enough each murder appeared to have happened in the dead of night. Not only that, but experts had theorized that there were likely more than one pony behind it. Based on the the conditions they found the bodies anyway. As such the local authorities have issued a curfew to lower the chance of any new murders happening. The residence aslo assured the public that they had thier best investigators behind the case. Unfortunately months have passed without the slightest hint of any new suspects. As such the residence began to slowly lose hope of the murders ever being solved.
The sound of hoof steps echoing behind her made the mare snap her head towards the direction the sound was coming from.
Nothing.
Turning her head foward the mare quicken her pace. As she did so she suddenly hears the sound of laughter. The laughter itself sounded numerous. If the mare had to guess at least five or six other ponies were following her. With that dawning realization the mare's quick pace turned into a full fledge gallop. The ponies were quick to follow.
"Were are you going little mare?! A Stallion's voice yelled. His question was answered when the mare quickly turned a corner.
The mare kept galloping. All while ignoring their taunting voices and sickening laughter. Turning another corner the mare was met with the sight of a brick wall. Turning around the mare met her pursuers face to face. She was met with a group of about five ponies. Two were unicorns while the rest were simple earth ponies.
An earth pony chuckles while stepping forward. He was a dark green stallion with a even darker green mane. His appearance alone was somewhat intimidating to say the least. Especially the way his eyes shined with madness. When he spoke he had somewhat of a New Jersey accent. "Awww looks like some pony might be lost." He cooed mockingly. The ponies beside him chuckled. It was clear to the mare by thier expressions alone they these ponies were out for blood. However with that being said she opened her mouth anyway. "What do you ponies want with me?" The leader laughed.
"Or nothing munch" he shrugged. "We were just wondering if could be so kind as become our next target." The mare gasped. Howver the action itself sounded somewhat hollow. "Your behind all the murders?!" The leader nodded. All though he felt that something was off with this particular mare. Regardless he decided to continue. Grinning madly he spoke. His voice turning into a manic sort of glee. "That's right! And your gonna become our next victim." As soon as the words left his mouth the leader let out a insane cackle. His followers were quick to join in.
That was until the mare formed her own mad grin as well.
"Pefefrct" she whispered.
The ponies paused.
They look towards each other in confusion. Lifting a brow the leader tilted his head. "Excuse me?" The mare glared at him. "You heard what I said!" She snapped. Her voice becoming somewhat bossy and harsh. Everypony else had to do a double take. The leader's confused expression morphed into that of a grin. "Oh I see, you just have a death wish!" He laughed. That's the only thing that made sense after all. "Well why didnt you say so?" The mare shrugged. "Because I don't" she stated in the same tone as before. However a enormous smile formed on her face. "In fact your just the ponies we've been looking for."
Silence.
Tilting his head once more the stallion looked at the mare as if she was the crazy one. "We?" He questioned. In response the mare laughed. It was a dark twisted laugh void of any humor. Just as the stallion opened his mouth the mare whistled. The noise itself praticily made every pony cringe in discomfort. Afther a few seconds the mare stopped. gritting his teeth the stallion pulled out his blade. He had enough dealing with this delusional mare. The stallion took a step forward. Intending to spill the mare's guts all over the ground. Howver it was in that moment that he heard it. What did he hear you ask?
The sound of laughter.
The sound itself chilled every pony to the bone. One of the ponies eyes went wide with realization. "Oh no" she whispered stepping back. A look of utter horror on her face. "What is it?!" The leader snapped. Howver just before the mare could answer a voice stopped her.
" itsy bitsy spider went up the waterspout" a feminine voice sang. That alone caused every pony to step back.
"Then came the rain and washed the spider out."
"It's them" the mare whisperd. She cast glace towards the pony they cornered. Only to see said mare chuckle quietly to herself.
"Along came the sun and dried up all the rain.
The voice continued. Pretty soon everypony heard hoof steps coming towards them. They didn't have to wait long as a pink hoof came into view. Said hoof was immediately followed up by it's owner. Everypony stared as a pink mare with a long pink mane materialized from the darkness. Her bright blue eyes praticily shined in the dark. There was something about said orbs that disturbed everypony to thier core. The mare herself had grin so large that it was praticily impossible. The mare's pink mane was so long that it nearly touched the ground with every step she took. However what surprised them all was the fact that the mare wasn't alone. Besides her emerged a light grey earth pony. Said earth pony had a light grey mane and tail. Not only that, but in her mouth the mare held a sharp looking knife. The grey mare's light purple eyes praticily gleamed with anticipation.
" and the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again" the pink mare finished. It was in this moment that they were able to see the mares cutie marks. The pink mare had three knives sliced into a cake as her cutie mark. While the other mare had three purple gems stones. "Stutter wheel who are they?!" The leader snapped. His body was tense as he stared at the two mares in question.
"The Smiley face killers" Sutter Wheel answered. The mare's eyes consumed by fear.
"Awww you know us" Piink mare cooed. Micming the Stallion's earlier tone. In reponse the green earth pony smirked. He realized right than that they still had the advantage. "In case you didn't notice there's five of us and only two of you." In response the mare laughed. The sound itself wasn't pleasant. In fact said laugh was distrubing even for a insane pony to hear. Calming herself down the mare grinned at him. "Aren't you forgetting something?" The Stallion's eyes went with realization. He looked towards the white mare from earlier. Only for said mare to have a knife held tightly in her mouth. The stallion relaxed. From looking at her he could tell that she hadn't done anything. Witch in itself was a wasted opportunity. Oh well not everypony was as smart as he was. Looking back at the pink mare his smirk returned. "We still outnumber you, plus we have two unicorns on our side."
The pink mare merely grinned in reponse. In her eyes was a wordless demand.
Count again.
The stallion did so. Only for his eyes to widen as he realized they were two ponies short, and what made it even worse was the fact that they were the two unicorns he referenced earlier. The rest of the ponies aslo realized this. They began to frantically look around for thier comrades. The stallion was confused. Looking at the white mare once more he realized that she hadn't even moved. Turning back his attention towards the pink one he glared.
"How?"
In response the mare cast her gaze upwards. Following her gaze everypony gasped in shock.
Thier above thier heads were the unicorns in question. Only they hanged limply on each side of the alleyway. A thick length of rope tied around thier necks. If that wasnt enough they aslo had a wide smile carved onto thier faces. As everypony widened thier eyes in shock a sound reached thier ears.
The familiar sound of laughter.
The sound itself was devoid of any sanity.
As soon as the laughter started it stopped. Only to be replaced with a voice. A voice that made thier blood turn to ice.
"Insects are eating my insides" the voice whispered. It sounded as if it was coming from directly over thier heads. "Spiders whisper to me in my sleep." Suddenly the ponies heard a thud coming from behind them. Turning thier heads they spotted a pony standing beside the white mare. Said pony was completely black in color. His cutie mark was a pony in a straight jacket. if that wasn't enough his hooves were completely drenched in blood. Slowly the stallion looked up at them. It was then that they noticed his mixed colored eyes. However what terrified them most was his expression. His face and eyes were completely devoid of any and all emotion.
"In the darkness the hangned mare speaks."
Suddenly the his expression changed. His blank look was replaced with one of boiling rage.
"STOP LOOKING AT ME!" He roared. Only to pause and lower his head. "Your bad ponies" he whispered. A smile knowing smile on his lips. "Bad ponies go to hell just mama and papa."
The green stallion shook his head. Discarding the unicorns it was still a even fight. As such he felt confident that they would be able to win. However just as he thought this somepony screamed.
"I DON'T WANNA DIE!' Stutter Wheel wailed.
The stallion could do nothing but watch as the purple pony tried to make a break for it.
Right towards the two mares.
Just as the grey mare prepared to lounge a pink hoof stopped her. The pink mare shook her head letting the pony run past them. Upon receiving a confused glanced she grinned. "Let's see how far she can get.' The grey mare blinked befor rapidly nodding her head. A sadistic smile forming on her face. "
"Le-lets discus this" the leader stuttered. All his earlier confidence was now no were to be seen. It was as if the gravity of the situation finally dawned on him. Looking back he saw that the ponty he had left was just as terrified as he was.
"I'm s-sorry."
In reponse the black stallion snapped.
"YOUR SORRY?!" He roared. His entire body shaking with rage. "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF SORRY! NO PONY DOES!" suddenly he relaxed. His engaged expression turned into a childlike smile. His voice a eerie calm,"But you'll understand the meaning soon enough every pony does."
"Alright!" The pink mare clapped her hooves. The action caused them to jump. "Enough talking." The mare pulls out a large butcher knife. Were exactly did it come from no pony knew. The mare cackled raising the blade for all to see. Her expression being a mixture of excitement and righteous fury. When she spoke her voice was cold and unforgiving. "Now I want to hear you scream." "Scream just like the ponies you ruthlessly murdered." "Scream just like the families who realized that they will never get to see thier love ones again." "Scream so the demons in tartus can get to hear your cries of mercy."
She brought the knife down,
And scream they did.
Sutter Wheel galloped as fast as her legs can carry her. The purple earth pony knew that if they catch her she was as good as dead. Looking back she saw that no pony was following her. At that realization hope bloomed in her chest. If no pony was following her that meant she had a good chance of escape. Witch aslo meant that she was gonna be able to live for another day. A small smile began to form on her lips. She was going to live. She was going to see her family one last time.
"Insects are eating my insides."
The mare's eyes widened in fear.
"Spiders whisper in my sleep."
Looking back Stustter saw nothing but vast empty street.
"In the dark the hanged mare speaks."
Looking back the mare froze.
Standing a few feet away from her was the same black stallion she saw earlier. Said stallion wasn't even looking at her. Instead he slowly rocked back and forth. His gaze blank and unfocused.
"She speaks the truth without a hint of a lie."
Stutter screams. Turning the purple mare starts galloping towards the direction she came from.
"She tell me were all the bodies lie."
Suddenly the mare felt something perice her back hoof. The pain was so sudden that it immediately made her lose her balance.
"Under the ground sick and rotten."
Sobbing the mare tried to get her hooves back under her. Only to flinch as she felt a sharp pain on her back leg. Glancing at it the mare realized that a knife had periced straight through her cafe. It was in that moment that pain suddenly intensified.
"They whisper to her begging to be forgiven.
Sutter sobbed. Trying and failing to get back onto her hooves. Meanwhile the black stallion slowly approached. His expression unchanged.
"Wishing for one more chance to go to heaven."
With no other choice Stutter Tried to painfully crawl away. "Help me!" She walled. "Somepony for Celestial sake please help me!"
In the darkness Stutter saw the forms of three ponies coming towards her. A sense of relief flooded the earth pony. However that relief was short lived. Walking towards her were three blood coverd mares. The very same mares that Stutter tried to run away from. Said ponies had large sadistic smiles on thier faces. In that moment the earth pony knew for a fact that she was going to die.
"However in truth there was no such place."
Stutter screamed as the stallion ripped the knife out from her four leg.
"For there was only darkness and despair."
The stallion rolled her over. With no other choice Stutter stared as he raised the blade into the air. A hint of a smile forming on his lips. "I'm sorry" the mare whispered closing her eyes.
"For those who decided to hang the hanged mare."
Sutter gasped as the blade periced her heart.

What do you think?
"Okay thank you for assistance ma'am" Star Gate smiled. The pony In front of her nodded before closing the door. The blue unicorn sighs befor turning towards her partner. Said partner was a dark grey pegasus with silver mane and tail.
"Right Wing."
No reaction.
Start rolled her eyes.
"Donuts."
"Huh? The pegasus blinked before shaking his head. He may or may not have zoned out while his partner wasn't looking. Star sighed. She liked Right wing she really did, but sometimes the stallion can drive her up the wall. "Did you at least hear anything we said?" Her partner shrugged. In truth the stallion was too busy thinking about what he was going to have for dinner. "It's not like it matters anyway" he stated dully. "No pony has the guts to help a group of ponies screaming at the dead of night." "Munch less to get a look at whoever was attacking them." Star Gate snorted. Unfortunately however the stallion did have a point. Most ponies were cowards afthere all. Thier none aggresive nature makes a killer task in getting away a cake walk. Hell Star was sure that whoever killed those five ponies knew that as well. Regardless as a police officer it was Star's duty to protect, and to get the whole truth whenever possible. Even if that means going out and doing something she knows would be futile. They can't say that they didn't try at least. "Be that as it may, we still have an important job to do." With a sigh of his own Right wing nodded.
"So is that it?" The pegasus asked as the duo made thier way onto the side walk. The unicorn shook her head. "With that type of attitude why did you want to be a cop of all things?" The stallion shrugged. "I already told you it runs in the family" Right mumbled. It seemed it was more to himself than her. Star just rolled her eyes before answering his question. "No, if you were paying any attention you would have notice the wagon parked across from us.
The pegasus blinked before turning his head.
Sure enough there was indeed a wagon parked across the street. Said wagon was a mixture between pink and grey. If that wasn't enough the words "the fun mobile" was written in a multitude of colors. The letters themselves nearly took the entire front half of the wagon. Upon seeing this Right wing smirked, "and I thought today wasn't going to be interesting."
Star merely snorted.
Afthere knocking on the door Star took several steps back. "I'll do the talking" the mare stated. From her tone Right could tell that there was no room for argument. In response the stallion merely mumbled under his breath. "I never get to have any fun."
The mare just rolled her eyes.
As soon as she did so the door opened.
The duo watched as a black stallion poke his head out through the door.
The stallion looked left.
Then right.
Then left again.
"Umm over here" Star gate waved. The stallion blinked before looking over at them. "Hi!" He waved. Stepping outside he gently closes the door behind him. "Hello" Star greeted. "My name Is Sta-"
"Hi!" The stallion waved.
The mare blinked.
"Hello" she said slowly. "As I was saying my name is Sta-"
"Hi!" The stallion smiled brightly.
She stared.
Beside her Right was struggling not to laugh.
"Hello again" Star said everly. This caused the Stallion's smile to brighren even more. "Do you mind if I continued speaking?" She asked. All though she sounded patient there was a hint of annoyance in her tone. The stallion seemingly heard it to. As such he flinched before lowering his gaze to the floor. "Sorry" he mumbled. The duo watched as tears slowly begins to build in his mixed colored eyes. Instantly the unicorn felt guilty. She knew that it wasn't exactly her fault, but seeing a pony in such a state did nothing to ease her apparent guilt. However just as she opened her snout to apologize the stallion growled. Wiping his eyes he looked at her. His happy expression replaced with a look of noticeable anger.
"What the fuck do you want?" He snapped. His tone holing so munch venom that the mare couldn't help but flinch. Fortunately Right Wing chose that moment to speak. Stepping in front of his partner he glared at the stallion. "Look pa-"
"Jazz" the pony hissed.
The pegasus blinked in confusion.
"That's my name!" The stallion chirped. His cheerful expression returning once more. "Isn't it neat?!" The girls helped me come up with it ever se-"
"Yeah, I don't really care" Right interrupted. "Look, my partner and I were just wondering if you heard or saw anything strange last night." Jazz blinked befor humming in thought. A look of absolute concentration falling on his face. It was then that the ponies noticed Jazz's cutie mark. The two police ponies glanced at one another in confusion. Howver befor they could say anything Jazz spoke up. A nonchalant expression on his face. "Naw just the usual nightmarish screaming and hallucinations that haunt every second of my life, and often than not leads me to contemplate suicide on a near daily basis." He paused before humming slightly. "I always wondered what my insides would look like."
The duo stared at him in horror.
Jazz blinked befor tilting his head. A look of utter confusion falling on his face. "I'm sorry what were we talking about?"
The ponies continued to stare.
Flinching under thier gaze he whimpers before taking a step back. "Why are you looking at me like that? Do I have something on my face?" Tears began to form in his eyes. "Do you think your better than me Is that it?"
No pony said a word.
"WELL FUCK YOU OK?!" He roared. His entire body shaking with rage. "DON'T YOU THINK I ALREADY KNOW THAT?! I'M NOTHING COMPARED TO YOU! YOU HEAR ME?! NOTHING!"
Jazz wailed before clutching his skull in pain. His facial expression shifting rapidly before thier eyes. INSECTS ARE EATING MY INSIDES!" He screames. "S-SPIDERS WHISPER IN MY SLEEP!"
Throwing his head back Jazz screamed. The sound itself was full of desperation and fear. Turning away from the door the crazed stallion began rapidly slamming his head against the wagon. With each connection he made his screams because more frantic and desperate.
Upon seeing this Star Gate immediately snapped out of her stupor. "We have to help him!" Right looked ar her as if she was crazy. However before Star could open her once more the wagon door swung open. Turning her head Star saw a grey blur. Said blur immediately tackled the crazed earth pony. Star watched as the two momentarily wrestled once they hit the ground. Said wrestling match soon ended, and the victor was too busy holding Jazz down to notice the two other ponies.
"What the flying fuck tart is going on here!"
The duo looked over to see a bluish grey earth pony walk out of the wagon. Her name looked to be somewhat of a grey color. The mare had godless yellow eyes. While her cutie mark seemed to be a good nugget. However the mare's expression wasn't warm or welcoming, but that of hostility. Star watched as the mare glanced at her surroundings. Her eyes lock on the two struggling ponies for a moment before settling on Star and her partner. With one look at thier Uniforms the mare immediately knew who they were. Star watched as the mare rolled her eyes before marching back into the wagon. A few long moments later the mare returned. Only this time she brought a pink pony with her. Said mare looked as if she just woken up.
As a matter a fact upon closer inspection the other mare seemed to be tired as well even the pony who was holding Jazz down had noticable bags under her eyes.
"Can I help you?" The pink mare asked with a tired smile. Star nodded. Hoever before the Unicorn could speak Right beats her to it.
"What's wrong with him?" The pegasus asked Ponting a hoof towards the black pony. Who at this point had stopped struggling and was now being comforted by the two mares. The pink pony narrowed her eyes. Yet the mare's smile never faltered. Jabbing her partner in the side Star spoke. "What he means is, Is that stallion gonna be okay?" The pink mare nodded. Her tired smile forming into a munch more lively one. "Yup!" Jazzy just has his moments just like everypony else." Star blinked in surprise at the mare. Looking back she saw that the stallion was munch more calmer than before. His expression was completely and utterly blank. He mumbled something that caused the pony who tackled him to rub her cheek lightly against his.
"That's Marble" the pink mare stated causing Star to look back at her. Right on the other hoof kept his eyes on the three ponies.
Just in case.
"The pony that's sitting across from him is Limestone." Star looked over once more. Said pony was indeed sitting across from the other two. Instead of using physical touch Limestone was busying muttering a few words. Unfortunately neither Star or her partner were able to make them out,
"And I'm Pinkamena!" The mare stated somewhat cheerfully. "All though my friends call me Pinks."
Star nodded. "Oh so you know these ponies than?" She questioned. She could see a family resemblance with the two grey mares, but the last two was any ponies guess. "You could say that" the earth pony shrugged. However the tone she used implied that there was more to it.
"Is there a reason your bothering us officer?"
"Oh right" star nodded. The mare got so absorbed in everything that she almost forgot the reason that they came here in the first place. Clearing her throat the unicorn spoke. "We were wondering if you perhaps heard or seen anything strange last night?"
Pinkamena shrugged.
"Naw, me and the others were busy with work and the like." Star nodded in understanding. That would explain why they looked somewhat tired. At least the mares did anyway. As if reading her mind Pinks spoke.
"Jazz Is what we call a pony who rarely ever sleeps." She snorted. "That fact alone means that one of us are gonna have to go through a night without any sleep." "That sounds like he's quit a hoof full" Right remarked dryly. Star had to stop herself from face hoofing.
"We Pies like a challenge" Pinkamena stated with a smile. "All though I can't say the same for your girlfriend here." Both ponies eyes went wide.
"WHAT?!"
Pinkamena made a clicking noise with her tounge. "Oh sorry your probably just fuck buddies my mistake." Both Star and Right blushed furiously. "N-no it's not like that!" Star quickly denied. Right merely snorted at the pink mare. He knew better than to grace her with a reponse. Pinks looked between the two of them for a moment. A calculated look on her face. Suddenly the mare grinned victoriously. 'Ah I see, your friend here is secretly gay."
Silence.
"Eh" Pinkamena shrugs "to be honest I don't really care." Suddenly the mare smirks. She gazed at Star with a look that made the unicorn uncomfortable. "That would explain why your still single." The blur unicorns eyes went wide. "How did yo-"
"Body language!" the mare stated with a cheerful grin. "I mean I'm surprised no one noticed it sooner."
"Did we miss anything?"" Limestone asked. Her Marble and Jazz made thier way towards the group. The stallion himself looked as if the events that occurred earlier never happened."
"Eh not munch" Pinks shrugged. "Oh and Limestone your on suicide watch" the mare in questioned merely crossed her hooves. Jazz and marble on the hoof were seemingly having a conversation. Only it consisted of Jazz babbling complete nonsense and Marble nodding along as if it all made logical sense, and maybe in the mare's mind it did.
"Well it's been fun! But not really" Pinkamena stated as she turned and headed towards the wagon. The rest followed suit. The duo could do nothing but stare as they went back inside one by one. The last one to come in was Marble. Said pony stopped befor slowly turning her head towards them. Her pale green eyes seemed to hold them silently in place. Afthere a tense moment of silence the mare smiled. It looked genuine, and yet both ponies couldn't help but shiver.
"Keep up the good work" she said softly. Her voice was something the duo never heard before. It was softer than silk, and yet something about it made you want to get as close to her as you possibly could, and with that Marble gently closed the door. Her eyes never leaving the duo for a second as she did so.
Silence.
"Well" Right started slowly. The stallion couldn't help but feel more vulnerable than he did his entire life. "That happened." With her mouth hangingly limply open Star noded.
Meanwhile.
Inside the wagon the Pie sisters were too busy laughing thier flanks off. "D-did you see the look on thier faces?!" Limestone wheezed. The mare herself busy clutching her sides as she laughed. Praticily rolling on the floor Pinkamena nodded. Said pony was busy trying to get air back into her lungs. Marble on the other stood between her two sisters. Unlike them however she didn't laugh. She did howver have a small smile on her face. Afthere all the spectacular was indeed amusing to watch. Wiping her tears Limestone looked over at her partner in crime. Jazz howver was too busy tapping on the table repeatedly to notice her gaze. Regardless she spoke. Amusement with a hint of worry dancing in her tone. "Hey Jazz, just so you know you don't need to repeatedly bang your head to trick ponies." The black pony blinked befor looking back at her.
"What trick?"
The laughter stopped.
Pinkamena, Limestone, and Marble looked at one another. Slowly they turn thier attention back to Jazz. Only to see that said pony was busy turning on the stove. "I'm making scrambled eggs! He shouted. Only to stop and repeat said words over and over again. The excitment in his tone never leaving. Slowly Pinks and Marble cast thier gazes towards Limestone. Said pony in particular merely stood up and walked over to Stand next to Jazz as he cooked.
Turns out Limstone was really on suicide watch that day.

Thoughts?
"Good morning every pony!" A voice echoed. Said voice belonged to a stallion of unknown age. "Now I have some breaking news for some of you bored ponies out there." The stallion chuckled before continuing. "Now you remember those horrific murders that's been happening for a few months now?" The stallion paused. It was as if he was expecting some pony to actually answer him. "Well Apparently the Smiley face killer's once again solved the case." The stallion chuckled once more. Howver this time it was more out of relief than amusement. It made sense considering that the stallion lived in Bolthoof as well.
At least that's what they assumed anyway.
"Apparently a group of screaming ponies attracts alot of attention." "As such the locals in downtown called the police." The stallion shrugged. Unfortunately there was no pony around to witness said action. "When the police arrived they found two ponies hanged in the alleyway, but not only that Apparently said ponies had smiles carved on thier faces. The stallion paused. Letting the silence linger for a moment before speaking, and when he did speak it was in a grim tone. Now the police ponies aren't saying names. But according to my Intel the two ponies found were well known doctors."
The stallion sighed.
The sound of shuffling cards could be heard in the on suing silence.
The stallion spoke up. His voice much more cheerful and enthusiastic than befor. "Well if you ask me they totally deserve it!" The sound of robotic laughter can be heard in the background. An action that wasn't exactly anything new. At least not to the ones listening in.
"For the ones who are wondering who exactly the Smiley face killer's are allow me to explain."
The stallion cleared his throat.
"I have very little idea!"
A pony rolled thier eyes.
"Not munch are really known about them." "However what we do know Is that munch like the killers in Bolthoof there is likely more than one." The stallion shrugged once more. "At least that's what the experts say." "With that being said the Smiley face killer's have been active in equestria for over 10 years now."
The stallion paused to let the information sink in.
"Sense thier debute they have killed an estimated 64 ponies." "However we can't exactly know for sure." The stallion grinned. "What's that viewer?"
Silence.
"You wanna know what I mean by that?"
No pony said a word.
"Well Apparently their not exactly big on leaving thier mark." The stallion chuckled. "They either A carve a smile into thier victims." "Or B paint a smiley face on a hard surface using blood." The stallion once again paused for dramatic effect. "However that isn't always the case."
"Sometimes a pony or two would just wind up mysteriously missing never to be found again." The stallion sighed leaning his back against a chair. "Now I know what your thinking" he stated dully. "What does a pony going missing have to deal with the Smiley face killers?"
He smirks.
"Well before I answer that! I need you to listen closer." For a long moment the only sound that was heard was the shuffling of papers. Once done the stallion cleared his throat. "Sandy Grey a pony wanted for the murder of her own foal." "Lighting Hoof a two counts convicted rapist." "Leaf storm suspected spouse abuser." He paused to let the information sink in. "These are just three ponies out of possibly hundreds that the Smiley killers have targeted over the years."
"So!" The stallion continued. His voice turning chipper once more. "It just so happens that the ponies who went missing fitted thier MO."
"For instance one pony that went missing was an alleged gang member." "Said gang were accused of rape, drug smuggling, and forced prostitution." the stallion chuckled darkly. "It so happens that said gang"s leader was found hanging by his intensities." "A smiley painted on the wall behind him using his own blood."
"Afthere that and several other instances ponies began to regard them as heroes of equestria." The stallion laughed. "Of course local authorities would say other wise." "Regardless they aren't any closer in finding out who the Smiley face killers are." The stallion hummed in amusement "of course that dosen't stop ponies from theorizing."
"One such theory is that the Smiley face killers are actually working under the crown."
A pony snorted.
"Of course princess Celestia was quick to deny this." The stallion rolled his eyes. "Like were dumb enough believe she actually isn't capable of such a thing."
"Howver the most well known and regarded theory is the Smiley face killers themselves were victims of abuse." "As such they take thier anger out on those who they deemed a threat to pony society."
A mare blinked before shrugging.
"Whatever the case maybe i myself respect thier line of work." The stallion sighed. "Ever sense Celestia raised taxes due to what she calls necessary reasons everything's been going to shit." The stallion shook his head, and it's not like we can count on law enforcement to protect us." He snorted. "You saw how useful they've been lately." "Now I don't know about you, but I can sleep peacefully at night knowing that there are a group of ponies out there doing whatever it takes to protect us."
He grinned.
"Anyway though that's enough out of me." "Stay safe ponies and as always I'll see you next time, and remember the only thing to fear Is fear itself."
Limestone rolled her eyes. Walking over to the fridge the mare takes a look inside. One glance and she could tell that it was a lost cause. Sighing the mare looks over her shoulder. The others were busy playing cards. Unfortunately for Pinks and Marble Jazz was winning.
Again.
The sight itself was nothing knew. Jazz was a wild card when it came to alot of things, but challenge him in a card game and you might as well just give him all the bits you got.
"Pinkamena."
Said mare blinks before looking over at her second youngest sibling.
"What?"
"Were out of milk" Limestone grumbled. The mare was well known for her temper and attitude, but when it was just her family she kept herself in check.
Most of the time at least.
The pink mare blinked. "Well then go get some more." The tone in her voice spoke volumes. If there was one thing Pinks hated it was ponies who complained about a problem that they could easily fix themselves."
"With what bits?!" Limestone snapped. She didn't want to remind her sister that they were low on cash. While Pinkamena was indeed the head mare she tended to be forgetful. At least when she's having a really good time. One such example being a friendly card game between family.
Pinkamena faced hoof herself in realization.
"Oh right" she mumbled putting her cards down. "I could go get us some more bits" Limestone offered. They still had thier main income buried right under thier hooves. All it would really take is a one way trip towards one Griffin in particular. Unfortunately the pink mare was having absolutely none of it. "Absolutely not!" She stated firmly. "For one we go as a family just like we always have." Pinks planted her hoof firmly on the table. A authoritative expression on her face. It was an expression Limestone knew all too well. If she were to go against her sister Limestone would end up in a world of trouble,
"And secondly it's not even that time of day yet." Pinks cast her gaze towards the window. Sure enough the sun looked as if it wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. With not munch else she can do Limestone noded. Her sister's expression turned into a munch more cheerful one. "Don't worry! I'm sure time will fly with the four of us here toghere."
"Besides" she continued. Picking her cards back up and turning away from her sister. "What would you need milk for anyway?
"Ceral" Limestone stated flatly. Pinkamena opened her mouth to respond. Probably another bout of reassurance. That was until Marble spoke up.
"I have some bits left."
Both mares looked over at her in surprise. Said pony already reached into her saddle bag and pulled out a bag full of bits. Fortunately for Limestone Marble always keeps a hoof full of bits with just in case of emergencies. The grey mare would refuse to spent it on anything else other wise. "Thanks" Limestone stated as Marble threw her the bag. Just then Jazz jumped up in excitement.
'Oh! Can I come?!
Limestone opened her mouth. Then closed it.
Looking back she saw Pinks shrug. "Up to you!" She stated with a smile. Looking back at the stallion Limestone hummed in thought. It wasnt long before the mare had her answer. Lifting a hoof she gestures for Jazz to come closer. Jumping off the table the stallion did so. Once he was close enough Limestone puts her hoof around him in a rare display of physical contact.
"What are the three s words? The mare asked.
Stay close, stay safe, stay aware,
And when you can't stay close? The mare questioned. The stallion stop shaking and took a deep breath. Execeling he forced himself to relax.
"Stay calm."
Limestone smirked before ruffling his mane. "Alright let's go."
The trip to the nearest grocery store wasn't exactly an eventual one. Mainly it consisted of ponies talking about the event that happened a few days ago. That and constantly getting in Limestone's way. As such the mare reverted back to her passive aggressive nature rather quickly. Jazz on the other hoof was having the time of his life. The thing is however that this wasn't exactly his first time out and about. However the mentally damaged stallion acted the same way every single time. Down to the directions in witch he will tilt his head towards. Suffice it to say Jazz was indeed an odd pony. However the same could be said for his sisters. As such during his moments of calm the stallion never once felt alone. Witch is a good thing all this considered.
It didn't take long for the pair to reach thier destination, and once they did Limestone decided to pick up various food items while she was at it. Afthere all they weren't only low on cash, but on food as well. Witch is why she is currently browsing through the snake aisle. Afthere all, all three of her siblings had a thing for sweets. The pink mare most of all. Second only to Jazz. Though too munch and the stallion could end up quit literally running through town. The last time that happened a net and a dozen elephant tranquilizers were involved.
Humming quietly to herself Limestone cast her gaze towards the stallion. Who for this part looked like he was a kid in a candy store. Biting her lip to hide her smile Limestone nudged him on the side. He looked at her. His mixed colored eyes beaming with excitement. "Hey why don't you go ahead and grab your favorite juice okay?"
He looked at her questionably. Howver Limestone knew full well that he was capable of such a feat. Beaming he noded, and just like that he was gone before she could even blinked. Chuckling to herself the mare continued browsing. Honestly she was surprised at how much Marble was able to save up. Of course the mare was very choosy on how she spent her bits. If it wasnt a necessity like food then she ignored it unless it was a snack every now and then. Pinkamena on the other spends nearly half of hers on said items. Limestone herself was pretty big on regular food. However Jazz would never accept any money they tried giving him. Instead the stallion would split the money he was given towards his three sisters. It gotten to the point were Pinkamena had to go and talk to him about it. There was alot of yelling mainly on Jazz's part. Shortly followed up by another mental break down. Though it didn't last very long. In the end the stallion agreed to keep a portion to himself at all times. He would usually spend it on candy. That or a sharp looking knife. Hell more than once he would spent it all on a costume for nightmare night. Of course that would always get a laugh out of her sisters.
Shaking her head Limestone tossed a pack of oreos in the cart. However just as she was wondering what was taking said stallion so long she heard a shout.
"YOU TOUCH MY FLANK YOU PERVERT!" Upon hearing this Limestone sughed.
Looks like that was her que.
It didn't take long for her to find were the noise had came from. Hell all she really had to do was look for a crowd of ponies. Once she found said ponies Limestone wasted no time in pushing her way through. What she saw next made the mare's blood boil.
In total there was about five ponies. One of them was a mare while the others were all Stallions. If Limestone had to guees that was probably the mares sons. Regardless said ponies were huddled around Jazz. Who for his part kept his eyes low to the floor. Slowly rocking back and forth in an almost creepy manner. When the mare suddenly raised her hoof Limestone decided to step in.
"Hey!' She snapped.
All thier eyes fell on her.
"What's your problem?!" She growled walking towards the mare. Said mare in question merely crossed her hooves looking down at Jazz with disgust. "He touched my flank!"
Limestone gasped. "He what?!"
"He touched my flank!"
"Say that again."
"He touched my flank!"
Limestone blinked. Leaning forward she turns her ear towards the enraged mare. "Say that one more time." Said mare turned her head toward her. A expression of annoyance mixed with rage on her face.
"HE TOUCHED MY FLANK!"
Limestone nods smirking. "Gotcha."
Turning her head towars Jazz her smirked dropped. "Okay so what really happened?"
Jazz mumbled something under his breath.
"Jazz."
"I went to grab the juice and I accidentally bumped into her." Limestone noded. Yeah that sounded about right. Last time Limestone checked Jazz didn't have the capacity to check out mares like that. "You liar!" The mare screeched. "I turned my head for one second and I felt someone's hoof on my flank." "I look right behind me there he is!"
Limestone looked at him.
"It was my shoulder" he clarified.
Limestone nodded.
Turning her attention back towards the mare she glared. "Look bimbo it was a misunderstanding simple as that." Limestone hope that it would be enough to resolve the situation.
Unfortunately she had poor social skills.
"What did you call our mother?!" One of the stallions shouted. He then proceeded to get directly in Limestone's face. The mare however was unphased. "You don't say ?" Limestone muttered. Looking towards the other three stallions she nodded. Glancing back towards the enraged mare she shrugged.
"Should have just aborted."
Suddenly Limestone felt a hoof impact her jaw. The force was enough to send her stumbling two ot three steps back. She heard the ponies in the crowd gasp in shock. Rubbing her jaw looks at the stallion who punched her. Said stallion had a look of satisfaction on his face.
"Serves you right."
Slowly Limestone glances back towards the crowd. A nonchalant expression on her face. "You saw that right?"
The ponies nodded.
"Good."
Turning back Limestone took a step forward. The stallion looked at her. A smug look on his face.
Limestone then proceeded to deck said stallion in the chin. However the force was enough to send his entire body flying backwards. As such he landed on top of a near by cart. A daze expression on his face. The rest stared at her in shock. Cracking her neck Limestone spoke.
"Jazz!?
He looked at her. His eyes vacant of any and all life.
"You remember what I said earlier?"
The stallion nodded.
Limestone grinned. As the other three stallions began to charge. "Well fuck being calm."
She lunged.
.....
"They locked me up and they won't let me out!" Jazz sang. The stallion was currently rattling the bars of his jail cell. Other than that he looked no worse for wear. The only thing out of place was a slight bruise on his right cheek.
"They got me here until the sun comes down." Limestone joined in. Said mare stood across from him. Like Jazz She looked no worse for wear. All though there was a few scrapes here and there.
"Really thinking I was afthere the crown!" Jasper continued.
"They locked up and they won't let me out!" They sang in unison.
"I knew at the beginning I should have drowned!" Pinkamena sang. Said mare skipped into the room with Marble behind her. Aslo with with them was a police pony. "Finally" Limestone mumbled rolling her eyes.
"Hi Pinkamena!" Jasper waved.
"Missed me?" Pinkamena grinned. In reponse Jazz nodded his head viciously. "Let me guees were free to go because they attacked me first right?" The pony nodded. "Yup that's pretty munch it." With that said he unlocked the two cells. "What am I gonna do with you two?" Pinks wondered out loud. Amusement leeching from her tone.
"Hey it was self defense!"
The pink mare merely rolled her eyes.
"Did you at least get the food?"
Limestone noded. "I'm amazed that they even let you pay after all that." Pinks giggled as Jazz enveloped her in a hug. "I'm even more amazed you convinced a pony to drop them off at home.
Limestone shrugged. "Just got lucky I guess."
Author's Note
I made that song up in the end lol
"Then I started to rapidly beat his head in" Jazz says cheerfully. A childlike smile forming on the colt's face. "That was my favorite part"
Limestone rolled her eyes.
"Sounds like I missed alot" Pinkamena mused. Said mare side stepped a pony that was just about to run into her. The pony on the other hoof was busy carrying a ton of boxes. As such he was too busy making sure not to drop them than to look were he was going. "Sorry" he mumbled. In reponse Marble stuck her hoof. Unfortunately the stallion tripped on said hoof. The boxes slipping out of his grip as he did so. What made it even worse is that said items didn't help break his fall in the slightest. As such the stallion landed on the ground face first. In response he screamed while holding his noise.
Marble smiled in satisfaction as she watched the stallion squirm.
"Hey!"
Slowly the grey mare turned her head. "Yes?' She asked while staring at the pegasus. Marble's voice was calm and collected. However the mare froze. Her eyes going wide with fear. The atmosphere around Marble was something the mare never experienced. To the mare Marble naturally exerted an air that screamed dangerous. What made it even worse is that the pegasus found herself unable to move. She could do nothing but stare at the pony in front of her. Said pony stared right back. Her eyes gripping the mare's soul.
"Is there a problem here? Pinkamena asked. The pink pony walked over to stand beside her sister. Jazz and Limestone was quick to follow suit. Marble tore her gaze away from the mare to glance at her siblings. For her part the pegasus let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding.
"Well?" Limestone snapped. The mare had her fill of dealing with stupid ponies for one day. Jazz on the other hoof stared at the pegasus. A wide eyed expression on his face. The mare gulped. A look of nervousness mixed with fear on her face.
"Well you se-"
"YOU CAN FLY?!"
The pegasus blinked. Jazz on the other hoof was busy shaking with excitement. "I used to be able to fly!"
The mare stared at him. A look disbelief clearly evident on her face. Limestone however merely rolled her eyes.
"You never flew Jazz."
Said stallion gasped and looked at his sister. "Yes I did!" His tone was that of bewilderment. As if he was confused on why she never knew said fact. Limestone snorted. 'Yeah right, you were probably just having another break down." Jazz glared at her. When he spoke again his voice came out as a slight rasp. "Says the pony without the slightest hint of a social life."
"Says the hypocrite!" Limestone growled. The two immediately locked eyes.
The pegasus however took this as her que to leave, and did so while the other two were distracted. Marble however waved a hoof at the mare as she galloped away.
"Just because you didn't see it doesn't make it any less true!" Jazz growled.
"Oh stop acting like a child!" Limestone sneered. In reponse he smirked. "Says the mare who needed a toy bunny to sleep at night."
"What did you say?!"
"You heard me."
"I will bury your head fucking head into the ground!"
"What's stopping you?!"
"ENOUGH! Pinkamena roared.
The two ponies stopped.
Slowly Limestone and Jazz looked over thier sister. Gone was mare's usual smiling figure. Instead they were greeted with sight of a disapproving scowl. Once she had thier attention Pinkamena spoke. "Now I love the sight of two ponies arguing as much as the next mare, but not when it's between two ponies I care about the most." The mare sighed. Immediately Limestone looked away. Jazz on the other hoof blinked in confusion.
"What were we talking about?"
"Nothing" Limestone quickly said. She didn't want to drag the situation on more than they already did. The mare knew that it was somewhat her fault to begin with. Jazz was known for having an active imagination. At least when he was a colt. Thier childhood wasn't exactly what a pony would call fun. Heck she remembers the times that he told her a drea-"
Wait.
"Jazz!"
Looking over at her said stallion smiled. It was one of those without a care in the world type of smiles.
"Yes?"
Limestone couldn't help but snort. "When you were flying were there mountains or clouds?" She needed to know. In response in reponse Jazz blinked.
"I went flying?"
It took every ounce of strength that Limestone had not to face hoof. Meanwhile Marble and Pinks were watching the scene before them. Both mares had amused expressions on thier faces. Pinkamena couldn't help but laugh upon seeing Limestone's near livid expression. The grey mare looked almost like a volcano the way her face turned red.
"Oh my fu-"YES! Limestone screamed. Upon hearing this Jazz flinched. Limestone took in a breath. The mare knew that screaming will get her absolutely nowhere. At least not when dealing with a pony like her brother. "That's what you told the pegasus remember?" He thought for a moment. Suddenly his smile grew. "Oh yeah! It was really fun."
"I bet Limestone remarked dryly. "Now when you were flying were there clouds or mountains?" Jazz giggled. "Mountains! Clouds are really ugly."
Immediately Limestone felt like an idiot.
"Dreams" the mare mumbled. "Jazz was telling the pony about the dreams he had when he was a colt."
"Oh! I almost forgot about those!" Pinks giggled. Back in the day Jazz would quit often tell them about one particular dream he had. Said dream involved him flying over varies mountains. Why mountains exactly? No pony knew. However that didnt stop the Stallion's excitment at the prospect of it all. With that being said howver thier parents weren't exactly amused. As such Jazz would end up severely punished if so much as mentioned the word flying. This of course led to more time in the cellar. A place were Stallion's already strained mental state got worse. It was there that new aspects of his personality began to form. Said aspects don't exactly have life of thier own. Rather they represent his over all mental state. For example when he's angry it triggers something within his subconscious. As such all his anger due to neglect and abuse comes to the surface. All though this personality is slightly different it is still Jazz. As in he is still the pony he was five minutes ago. Just a different take on his personality. Unfortunately they do more harm than good. Because these aspects represent his destroyed physic they can often collide with one another. As such this leads to him having sever mental and emotional issues. Hence him having mental break downs. Fortunately there is way to mellow him out for the most part.
Killing.
Killing Is the only time his aspects can actually work well toghere. As such it is the only reason why Jazz isn't currently in a straight jacket. Committing such an act brings him temporary relief. As such afterwords he is remarkably easier to deal it. However that alone doesn't mean the breakdowns can't occur at any time. Take his interaction with the two police ponies for example. What killing really does is slow down the inevitable.
"I think it's time to go" Marble stated. Said mare points a hoof towards the crowd of ponies who have been watching them for awhile now. Upon being noticed said crowd quickly began to disperse. "The nerve of ponies" Pinkamena rolled her eyes. However just as she did so her eyes widened. "Oh! I almost forgot" the pink mare clapped her hooves. This served to get her siblings attention. "Mrs. Greenie wants us to cone in for work today."
Mrs. Greenie is a dark yellow unicorn mare with a tree for a cutie mark. Said mare runs a small diner in the middle of downtown. Ironically enough She named said diner Little trees. The mare herself was old and polite. In fact she's the second pony that the Pies consider a friend. Of course Pinkamena thought the mare as foolish, but said mare brought them in to work when no pony else would. Not only that, but she aslo taught them the ins and outs of the city. That alone made Pinkamena grateful. What made it even better is that the mare knew when to mind her businesse.
Upon hearing this Limestone sighed. So munch for avoiding dumb ponies. Jazz on the other hoof shook with excitement. "Yay! I get to be helpful!" The stallion grinned. In reponse Pinkamena rubbed her noise against his in a affectionate manner. "Your already a big help jazz!" The pink mare smiled. He giggled before nuzzling her back. Upon witnessing this Limestone couldn't help but roll her eyes. However there was a small frown on her lips. If there was one thing she hated about Jazz it was the way he thought less of himself. The pony often had problems with his self esteem. When he was largely stable that is. Upon glancing at her second eldest sister Limestone realized she wasn't alone. Marble aslo had a small frown on her face.
Pinks suddenly paused. Pulling away Said mare looked off into the distance as if searching for something. A calculated look on her face. The others were quick to notice this. "What's wrong?" Jazz asked in confusion. The stallion tried looking at the same direction as his sister was. Unfortunately he saw nothing but ponies going about thier daily lives. "Its nothing" Pinks stated. However the seriousness in her expression said otherwise. Marble looked at her sister in concern. She knew that the mare just lied to them. However she aslo knew that it wouldn't be without good reason. So unable to do munch of anything the pony kept her mouth shut. Less she runs the risk of upsetting her kin. "It doesn't look like nothing" Limestone stated. However her tone suggest that she knew better than to push the matter any further.
Pinks shook her head before gigling. "Naw, nothing you need to concern yourselves about just yet." Her tone implied that she knew more then what she was letting on. Howver the sisters could do nothing but nod. Jazz on the other hoof was urging them forward. "Come on! Were gonna be late!" Pinks laughed. "Alright. Alright you heard the stallion girls, and with that Pinks hoped forward with Jazz folowing close behind. The other two ponies merely looked at each other before following suit.
.....
The doors leading inside Little trees diner burst opened. A second later two familiar ponies hoped inside. One pink while the other was as black as the night itself. However it wasn't long before two more ponies entered the establishment. "I win!" Jazz says victoriously. However Pinks was quick to deny that fact.
"No way!"
"Yes way!"
"No."
"Yes."
This continued until a unicorn mare popped her head out from the kitchen. Upon recognizing said ponies the old mare couldn't help but smile. "Why it isn't my favorite workers." She quickly existed the kitchen. The ponies who stared at the trio as soon as they entered tore thier gazes away. "Hi mrs. Grennie!" Jazz waved. Pinks did as well. Though instead of shouting at the mare she chose instead to nod respectfully.
"Hi" Limestone greeted flatly. Marble however gave the unicorn a little smile. Mrs. Greenie greeted them all back in turn. "Hello everyone! I was hoping you'd make it." Pinks shrugged smirking. "It's not like we have munch of a choice." Mrs. Greenie chuckled. "True, but it's not like I would fire you just like that." Pinks agreed with a smile. The pink mare was always in charge of the conversations. Mostly becaus out of the four of them she was the most capable in a normal conversation. "Can we start now!" Jazz whined. The stallion was all too eager to get to work. Upon realizing this mrs. Greenie laughed. "My, my, well don't let an old mare like me stop you." Upon hearing this Jazz dashed towards the kitchen. Limestone rolled her eyes for the tenth time today. Her other two sisters on the other hoof merely smiled.
"You heard the mare" Pinks stared looking over her shoulder "It's time to get to work."
Now said work consisted of ponies playing thier part. For instance Marble and Limestone were in charged of tables. Said Job was hardly difficult for the pair. Especially sense it only consisted of taking other ponies orders. Pinkamena on the other hoof was the cook. Said mare had a talent of putting delicious meals toghere. Especially the sweet kind. Regardless she took her job very seriously. Aa such she hardly smiled. Instead she chose to put all her focus in getting everything right. Jazz for his part was the dishwasher. A boring job for many, but for the stallion it was something else entirely. Plus no one can leave a plate sparkling clean quit like he can. Mrs. Greenie herself was tasked with taking care of the register. Not exactly all that difficult, but the pony took pleasure in it all the same. Toghere these five could give any fancy restaurant a run for it's money.
Suddenly Pinkamena paused. Turning her head the mare stared at nothing in particular. Afthere a moment she noded.
"Hey Jazz?!"
"Yeah?!
"Can you do me a favor and throw away the garbage gatherd from last night?
He noded.
The pink mare waited.
Once she heard the back door open and close she whistled. She didn't have to wait long before Marble popped her head into the kitchen. Looking back at her sister Pinkamena smirked. "In two minutes I want you to sneak out and go towards the dumpster." Slowly Marble nodded, but not before giving her sister a look of confusion. Turning back towards her work the mare grinned.
"Pretty soon were gonna have some company."
.....
Gwen stood on a rooftop outside the diner. Making sure not to be seen by the very few ponies out and about. She's been following her targets for two days now. As far as she can tell they didn't look like munch of a threat. Sure the light grey one can definitely fight, but not at the level of someone trained in her profession. The Griffin tense as she saw a stallion exit through the back. Ah it's the strange black one the others seemed to care munch for. The female Griffin watched as the stallion crossed the street. A large garbage bag flung over his shoulder. Gwen couldn't help but smirk. The hit Griffin knew to take out her target when she saw the chance, and with very few ponies around now seemed liked the perfect opportunity.
With one flap of her wings the Griffin was on top of the next building in seconds. Looking down she saw that the stallion was busy trying to open the lid for the dumpster . Suddenly Gwen felt a tense sensation in her stomach. Ignoring it the Griffin silently drifted down next the stallion. Her talons not making a sound as she landed. Her eyes narrowed in concentration. So far the he has yet to notice her approach.
Good.
Silently the Griffin pulled out her dagger. Said item was her signature weapon. It aslo help that it was aslo cursed. One scratch from this baby and you was guaranteed to die. Grinning Gwen slowly inched closer. The stallion was too busy mumbling something under his breath. What exactly it was she didnt exactly care. It's not she'll actually remember his last words anyway. Once she was in place the Griffin raised her blade. "Sleep tight" she mumbled quietly. As soon as she did so she lunged. Intending to perice the stallion right through the chest. However it was in that moment she was able to hear what he was saying.
"Insects are eating my insides."
What happened next Gwen hadn't a clue. One second she was lunging at the pony. A blood thirty smile on her face, and in the next her body was being slammed against the wall. The Griffin blinked rapidly. Trying her damndest to clear the stars from her vision. Once she did so howver she immediately tensed up. That was because the stallion she was supposed to kill was staring right back at her. A blank look upon his face.
'Spiders whisper in my sleep."
Looking around Gwen realized that her cursed blade was right behind the stallion. Said item laid motionless on the floor a few feet away. Oh well Gwen didnt need the item to kill a pony anyway. Glaring at her target she spat out a mouth full of blood. "Your gonna pay for that." In response Jazz blinked.
"In the dark the hanged mare speaks."
Gwen lunged forward. Intending to impale the stallion with her talons. Jazz side stepped the Griffin. Causing Gwen to miss her mark entirely. As a result the female Griffin stumbled for a few seconds. As such Jazz struck her side with his hoof. The force was enough to put the griffieness momentarily on her knees.
"She tells me the truth without a hint of a lie."
Growing Gwen jumped into the air. Spinning around the Griffin aimed to kick him in the face.
"She tells me were all the bodies lie."
Jazz duck, grabbing her foot as it practically soared over his head.
"Under the ground sick and rotten."
With a yank Gwen found herself on the floor face first. Growling she jumps back to her feet. Turning she intended to dispatch Jazz's head from his body. Only to be met with a hoof to the face.
"They whisper to her Begging to be forgiven."
Another hoof planed itself firmly onto the Griffin's right knee. Immediately the force alone caused her to drop half way to the ground. In witch she was then met with a vicious head butt.
"Begging for one more chance to go to heaven."
The Griffin's vision exploded in a multitude of colors.
Howver in truth there is no such place."
Just as Gwen began to fall backwards Jazz caught her. Grabbing her arm he gave it one good yank. Immediately Gwen screamed as he dislocated her shoulder.
"There is only darkness and despair."
Screaming in rage Gwen swung her other arm towards his face. Fortunately Jazz saw said move coming a mile away. Catching her other arm with ease he yanked. Causing Gwen to scream once again. Once he was done Jazz threw her towards the wall. He did so as if she weighted little more than a pound.
"For the ones who decided to hang the hanged mare."
Going In and out of consciousness Gwen could do nothing but look up at Jazz as he approached. In his hooves he held a dagger. The very same dagger that was cursed with black magic. Unable to do anything but watch Gwen briefly wonderd if this was how her past victims felt.
Probably.
Looking down at her Jazz's expression changed. He was now grinning like a mad stallion. His eyes shining with childlike glee. Throwing his head back he laughed, and to be honest it creeped Gwen the hell out. "Fun, fun, so munch fun!" Jazz laughed. He did a little dance as he mumbled the word fun for what felt like minutes.
It was in this moment that Gwen realized just how truly fucked up in the head he was. Unfortunately that didn't make her feel any better. Afthere a few more moments Jazz stopped. Without a word he raised the dagger into the air. A mad gleam in his mixed colored eyes. Gwen shut her own and prepared for the pain.
It never came.
Opening an eye The griffieness saw a dark grey pony in front of her. Said pony had somehow gotten in between her and the stallion in record time. The dagger itself stopped just inches in front of the mare's face. Despite this she didnt even flinch. Instead she looked Jazz directly in the eyes. Jazz for his part was busy tilting his head in confusion. "Not yet" Marble stated in a quite voice. Her tone was not of a mare who's life almost ended. Instead she sounded somewhat amused. Lowering the dagger the stallion noded. Turning towards the griffieness Marble smiled. However it wasn't a normal kind of smile. It was a sick twisted one that promised pain and retribution. When she spoke her tone was almost musical.
"Now, how about you make it easier on yourself and tells us who you work for."
