Vault Hunter Responsibilities

So, you want to hear a story, eh? Come, sit down and I shall tell the story

This is a story about how seven vault hunters rose up to stop the tyrant known as Handsome Jack, but this story has a twist, little did these heroes know that they would have more responsibility than they thought…

At a train station…

A siren, one of the few on the planet Pandora, had arrived to the train station, she looked towards the clock as it read 8:00 AM, the train was meant to arrive at 10:00 AM, but there were meant to be more vault hunters on the way

I wonder how many vault hunters took this job Maya wondered to herself.

At that moment, a baroness arrived at the station, she locked eyes with the siren, “Greetings siren”

Maya turned to the Baroness, “Hello, are you here for the job?”

The Baroness replied,”Oh, you mean Handsome Jack, why yes, I’ve worked for him before and he pays rather ‘handsomely’” She chuckled to herself

“Good to know, the name’s Maya” Maya commented

“Aurelia darling, pleasure to meet your acquaintance” Aurelia smiled, and at that moment, a man showed up, he looked to be of military personnel

“Hello ladies, you two here for the job?” The man asked, Maya and Aurelia turned to him

“Yes” Maya and Aurelia answered

“Nice, the name’s Axton, who are you two?”

“Maya” Maya answered

“Aurelia” Aurelia replied

“Cool, hopefully there’s more of us soon”

About an hour passed and a Psycho and a Truxican approached the station, they were currently talking.

“So then I said to him, ‘Come on, you still got the other one, stop whining’ and then I snapped his neck” The Truxican let out a laugh

“THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENT CLEANSES OUR SINS!” The psycho shouted

“Hehehe, I love this guy already!” The Truxican shouted

Axton, Maya, and Aurelia all drew their guns, “Psycho!”

The Truxican got in front of the Psycho, “Whoa whoa whoa, relax, we are here for the job offer, right big guy?” He elbowed his psycho friend

“I DESIRE THE BLOOD OF THE GUILTY TO SURVIVE!” Axton, Maya, and Aurelia all turned their heads in confusion

“It basically means he is here for the job” Axton, Maya, and Aurelia all let out a sigh of relief, putting aside their guns

“What a surprise / It seems we all have a common goal / My name is Zer0” Everyone turned to the assassin standing on a lightpole

They all waved at him, Axton then turned to the Truxican and Psycho, “Who are you guys?”

The Truxican responded, “I’m Salvador, and this is Krieg”

“Pleasure to meet you all” Maya commented

“EXCITED TO MEET YOU, PRETTY LADY!” Krieg pointed at Maya, Maya was startled, but smiled nonetheless

Another hour passed and the train finally arrived, everyone got on it, and as Axton entered the train, he heard a voice, “Wait for me!!!”

Axton kept the door open as a girl, who looked no more than 14, entered the train, “Oh thank god, thank you for that!”

“Yeah sure, who are you?” Axton asked

“Right, sorry, I’m Gaige, who are all of you?” Gaige asked

Axton spoke and pointed to everyone, starting with Maya, “That’s Maya, she’s a Siren” Then he pointed to Aurelia, “That’s Aurelia, she’s a Baroness”

“Hi” Maya waved

“Greetings Gaige” Aurelia smiled

Axton pointed to Salvador and Krieg, “That’s Salvador and Krieg, Salvador’s a Gunzerker and Krieg’s a Psycho, if you couldn’t tell”

“Hola Senorita” Salvador waved

“MY MEAT BICYCLE SAYS HI!” Krieg waved his meat bicycle

“And then there’s Zer0” Axton pointed to Zer0, “He’s an Assassin”

“Greetings Gaige / welcome to the adventure / prepare for some carnage” Zer0’s mask showed a smiley face emoticon

“And lastly is me, Axton, I’m a commando” He put his hand out to Gaige, “It’s nice to meet you”

Gaige shook his hand, “Nice to meet you too, I’m a Mecromancer, I also have my buddy Deathtrap” She revealed Deathtrap to everyone, and Deathtrap waved to them all, they all waved back

At that moment, a voice came over the intercom, “Greetings vault hunters, I see that 7 of you have accepted the offer, but there’s something you should know, this is the end of the train ride”

And at that moment, several loader bots entered the cabin they were all in and started firing. Axton took cover and began firing, Aurelia began freezing the loaders, Maya was phaselocking them, Salvador was shredding them, Krieg was cutting through them and so was Zer0, Gaige called out Deathtrap to fight for her. Eventually, all the loaders were destroyed, they made their way to the front, but they found out it was a trap, the train then blew up and sent the vault hunters all to Windshear Wastes.

2 Hours Later…

Maya slowly woke up, noticing all of the other riders laying in the snow, a voice was heard, “Wow, 7 dead vault hunters, Handsome Jack’s been busy”

“Ugh what?” Maya groggily got up

The voice spoke again, “Wait, you’re not dead, yes! Now I can get off this Glacier, Claptrap, your metaphorical ship has arrived”

Salvador then got up, “Can somebody turn off that damn alarm clock?”

Axton then got up, “Why can’t it be Pandora Radio I wake up to?”

Zer0 got up, “I find this sound / most unsatisfactory / make it stop”

Krieg got up, “SHUT UP TOASTER!” Krieg chased after the “Toaster” as it screamed for mercy

Aurelia then got up, “What is that horrid noise? Wait a minute, I know that voice, it’s Claptrap!”

Gaige got up, “I thought Claptrap units were shut down”

Maya spoke up, “Krieg, please stop chasing the toaster for a second”

Krieg stopped for a second and looked at Maya, “WILL THE SCREAMS EVER STOP!?”

“Yes, for now, just give it a second, Krieg” Maya stated

Aurelia then walked over to the cowering Claptrap, “Claptrap, I thought you were dead”

Claptrap looked at her, “Aurelia? It’s been so long, I’ve missed yo-”

Aurelia punched him, “And I haven’t, I see why my brother hates you”

“Sigh” Claptrap said, “Anyways, what brought you to Pandora?”

“Handsome Jack did, he said he had another job for me” Aurelia answered

“Okay, who are your friends?” Claptrap asked

“They are Maya, Axton, Zer0, Salvador, Gaige, and Krieg” Aurelia looked at them, they all waved

“Oh, pleasure to meet you all, I am a CL4P-TP Steward Bot, but my friends call me Claptrap” Claptrap stated

Everyone was shivering, except for Zer0 and Aurelia.

“Oh, I should probably get you guys inside, most of you look like you’re freezing” Claptrap led the seven vault hunters to the door, “And open!” The door opened to him

The vault hunters walked in and took spots to lounge around Claptrap’s house, Claptrap pulled out a box filled with Echo’s, “You’ll need these”

The vault hunters each took an Echo and got their HUDs, they then got their belongings together and a voice came over their Echos.

“Hello, can you all hear me?” A female voice spoke

“Who are you?” Maya answered

“I am Angel, I have come to help you to stop Handsome Jack, he’s gone mad with power, I am here to help” Angel stated, “The robot known as Claptrap, you’ll need his help to reach a place known as Sanctuary, you will find what you need there”

At that moment, a Bullymong crashed through the roof, Claptrap screamed, “It’s Knuckle Dragger! Ahhhhh!” Knuckle Dragger ripped out Claptrap’s eye, “My eye! Aghhhh!”

Knuckle Dragger dropped Claptrap and ran off, Claptrap pointed towards the cabinet, “The gun… In the cabinet”

Gaige walked over to the cabinet and opened it, finding a pistol inside, “Dibs!” She pocketed it away, “We should probably get Claptrap’s eye back, how else is he gonna get us off this glacier and to Sanctuary?”

Maya spoke up, “She’s got a point, we need his help if we’re gonna get to Sanctuary”

The seven vault hunters then made their way out of Claptrap’s place and through Windshear Waste, they killed many Bullymongs and killed Knuckle Dragger, eventually making it to Liar’s Berg.

Maya looked into the town, “Looks like the town is overrun by Bandits and Bullymongs, be ready”

Krieg, Salvador, and Zer0 charged forward and killed the Bullymongs, while Maya, Axton, Gaige, and Aurelia provided cover fire.

“Hey Hammerlock” Claptrap spoke

“Spectacular, first Bandits show up and now Claptrap shows up, my day couldn’t possibly get any worse!” Hammerlock exclaimed sarcastically

“Allistor, Is that you?” Aurelia called out

“Oh great, my bothersome sister is here, yet another thorn in my side, but not as annoying as Claptrap, what brings you here sister?” Hammerlock asked

“It was business at first, but now it’s revenge against Handsome Jack, but first we need you to fix Claptrap for us” Aurelia answered

“I suppose I am indebted to you all for saving my home, bring him to me” Sir Hammerlock walked out, “Greetings vault hunters, I am Sir Hammerlock, brother of Aurelia”

“Hammerlock’s a good friend of mine, I can always count on h-” Claptrap got zapped by the electric fence and fell backwards.

“Sorry about that, it’s just that when Claptrap speaks, it’s as if my braincells are dying, anyways, here we go” He screws Claptrap’s eye back into it’s socket.

“Hell yeah, I’m back bitches” Claptrap exclaimed, “Booyah!”

“Oh great, he’s talking again” Hammerlock facepalmed

“Guys, thank you for helping me reach Liar’s Berg” Claptrap jumped for joy, Salvador quickly punched him, silencing Claptrap.

“What? He was talking too much, be glad I shut him up” Salvador commented

“I have to agree / He was quite annoying / I enjoy it” Zer0’s mask flashed an ‘XD’

“Well, what should we do?” Gaige asked

“I say we take this opportunity to relax” Maya commented

“RELAXING ON A SACK OF MEAT!” Krieg shouted

“Sounds good to me, I don’t see anything wrong with that” AXton commented

2 Hours Later…

Hammerlock called out, “Vault Hunters, I have news”

Maya showed up, along with Axton and Gaige, Salvador returned with Krieg after the two of them had killed some Rakks, Zer0 was standing up against a wall, and Aurelia had just walked out behind Hammerlock.

“What is it Hammerlock?” Maya asked

“Apparently, there has been a moonshot sighted in the bay of Southern Shelf, care to investigate?” Hammerlock asked

Maya turned to the vault hunters, “I’m down, what about you guys?”

“A challenge / I wonder if it’ll be fun / I accept” Zer0 answered

“Yeah, we haven’t been doing much” Axton and Gaige answered

“Better than killing Rakks all day” Salvador responded

“MORE BLOOD FOR THE BOILER!” Krieg replied, confirming he was in

“I suppose a little adventure wouldn’t hurt” Aurelia answered

“Then it’s settled, the location is the Southern Shelf Bay, get to it” Hammerlock stated as everyone’s quest log updated

The seven vault hunters made their way out to Southern Shelf Bay and came across a ton of bandits, they were all killed in quick succession. Once the bay was clear, they moved towards the moonshot container.

“What if there are loaders inside?” Gaige asked

Zer0 equipped his sword and was ready, Angel came in over the Echo, “Do you want me to open it?”

“Please” Maya answered

“Executing Phaseshift” Angel said as the moonshot container opened, Maya looked inside, expecting loaders, but instead found seven fillies instead.

“Huh?” Maya asked

The others looked in and were instantly surprised: Maya was still confused, Gaige and Aurelia awed, Zer0 had a UwU on his mask, Salvador was amazed, Krieg was emotionless, and Axton was also confused.

“A bunch of anthro filly girls, Is this some kind of joke?” Salvador asked

“PRETTY LITTLE PONIES!” Krieg shouted, which caused the fillies to cry

“Krieg! You made them cry!” Gaige exclaimed, “Everyone, take a filly and calm it down”

Maya picked up the lavender filly and rocked it back and forth, quieting it. Aurelia pulled out a small ruby and showed it to the white filly, which seemed to calm it down. Gaige took the Lilac filly and took out a Rubix Cube and handed it to the filly, distracting the filly as it messed with the cube. Zer0 spoke a calm haiku to the yellow filly, calming her down. Salvador took out his canteen and allowed the orange filly to drink from it, which calmed it down. Axton pulled out a toy pistol and handed it to the electric blue filly, calming it down. And Krieg didn’t really know what to do without screaming, so he simply gave the pink filly his meat bicycle and it snuggled the meat bicycle.

“Phew! That was close! Krieg, try to be quieter” Maya asked

“DO NOT WAKE PRETTY PONY!” Krieg managed not to wake the fillies up, which put a smile on Maya’s face.

“So what exactly are we gonna do with these fillies, we can’t just leave them here and they sure don’t look like they’re from here” Gaige asked

At that moment, something surprised all the vault hunters as the fillies spoke to each of the vault hunters

The lavender filly looked up at Maya, “Mama!”

The white filly looked up at Aurelia, “Mama!”

The lilac filly looked up at Gaige, “Mama!”

The yellow filly looked up at Zer0 quietly, “Dada!”

The orange filly looked up at Salvador, “Papa!”

The electric blue filly looked up at Axton, “Ya! Dada!”

The pink filly looked at Krieg, “Daddy!”

Maya was confused, “Huh?”

Aurelia was surprised, “Pardon?”

Gaige was confused, “What?”

Zer0 was surprised, “Excuse me?”

Salvador was a little freaked out, “Whoa…”

Axton was confused, “Hold on, what?”

Krieg was excited, but quiet, “CUTE LITTLE PONY!”

The seven vault hunters looked at each other, then back to the fillies, then to each other, then to the fillies.

“Okay, am I the only one confused about this?” Gaige asked

“No” all except Krieg replied, Krieg just nodded his head

“What’re your thoughts on this Zer0, you seem like you’d know” Maya asked Zer0

“It seems as though / we’ve made an impression / on these fillies” Zer0 answered, looking down at the yellow filly in his arms

“But we already have enough on our hands with finding Jack, now we have to become parents for these fillies, this is a little excessive, don’t you think?” Aurelia asked

“Not only that, but they’d be in danger around us” Salvador added

“But who’s to say we shouldn’t try raising them, it’s clear that if we try to leave them, they’ll just come back to us, and if we dump them on someone else, they’ll still come back to us” Maya explained, “I say we raise them as if they were our own, who’s with me?”

“I suppose I could give it a try” Aurelia answered

“I’m gonna need some help, but yeah!” Gaige answered enthusiastically

“I will not consider this a challenge / but an opportunity / to understand love” Zer0 responded

“Mi Aubuela will be happy to know she has a granddaughter!” Salvador cheered

“Well, now I have a chance to have a kid, after getting rejected by women multiple times” Axton answered

“KRIEG WILL RAISE PONY TO BE BIG AND STRONG!” Krieg whispered softly

“Then it’s settled, we’ll raise these fillies as if they were our own” Maya stated, “But we should also find out what kind of ponies they are, this lavender one has wings and a horn, which is kinda weird, must be some kind of unicorn-pegasus mix”

“This white one has a horn, so it’s a unicorn” Aurelia noted

“Hey, so does this lilac one” Gaige noted

“This one has wings / it is a pegasus / a elegant creature” Zer0 noted

“This one is just a regular pony” The orange pony punched Salvador in the arm, “Owwww, this one is stronger than most ponies” Salvador noted

“This one is a pegasus, but it’s mane is rainbow-coloured, nice” Axton noted

“SMALL PONY SMELLS LIKE COTTON CANDY! SMALL PONY WITHOUT WINGS OR HORN!” Krieg whispered and noted

Maya asked, “We should try asking their names” Maya looked down at the lavender filly, “What is your name, little filly?”

“Twiligh Spakwle!” It said

“Twilight Sparkle?” Maya asked, Twilight nodded and clapped her hands joyfully, “This one is named Twilight Sparkle”

Aurelia looked down at the white filly, “What is your name, darling?”

“Rarwiteh!” It said

“Rarity?” Aurelia asked, Rarity hugged Aurelia, “Okay, this one is Rarity”

Gaige looked at the lilac filly, “What’s your name, cutie?”

“Stahwight Glimmah!” It said

“Starlight Glimmer?” Gaige asked, Starlight nuzzled her, “Awww, this one is Starlight Glimmer”

Zer0 looked down at the yellow filly, “You are quite the quiet creature / I have no intentions of harming you / what is your name?”

“Fluttehshi” It said

“Fluttershy?” Zer0 asked, Fluttershy nodded slowly, “An interesting name / for one so quiet / I’ll take care of you” Fluttershy fell asleep in Zer0’s arms

Salvador looked down at the orange filly, “What is your name, small one?”

“Abbajack!” It said

“Applejack, like the cocktail?” Applejack nodded her head and hugged him, “Awww, this one is Applejack”

Axton looked down at the electric blue filly, “What’s your name, sweetie?”

“Wainbow Dash!” It said

“Rainbow Dash?” Rainbow Dash pumped her hand in the air, “Hehe, I like this one”

Krieg looked down at the pink filly, “WHAT IS SMALL FILLY’S NAME?!”

“PINKI PWIE!” The little filly yelled quietly

“PINK PIE?!” Krieg asked, Pinkie jumped out of his arms and floated back down, Krieg shed a tear for joy, “PINK PIE IS KRIEG’S HYPER DAUGHTER!” Everyone giggled at the cute display, and at that moment, something occurred inside Krieg, he cleared his throat, “Ah, that feels better, feels good to have sanity again” Everyone was shocked.

“Krieg, did you just?” Maya asked confused

“Yeah, I’ve regained my sanity, I’m no longer a real psycho, I regained my sanity, but I still have some fight in me, so I’m not defenseless” Krieg answered normally, “Now, how about we get back to Liar’s Berg?”

“Agreed, C’mon guy- huh?” Twilight hovered out of Maya’s arms and was flying next to Maya

“Mama! I can fwy!” Twilight exclaimed as she flew near Maya

“I guess that makes things easier” Maya smiled

Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash flew close to Zer0 and Axton respectively, while Aurelia, Gaige, Salvador, and Krieg all carried their respective daughters back to Liar’s Berg.

Back at Liar’s Berg…

The vault hunters had just gotten back and arrived at Hammerlock’s cabin, Aurelia gave a knock, “Allistor, open up”

Sir Hammerlock came and opened the door, “What is it, dear siste-” He noticed not only his sister, but each of the vault hunters, had a filly with them, “Come on in”

All the vault hunters came inside and took a seat, or just leaned against the wall. Maya, Zer0, and Axton leaned against walls, Aurelia sat in a chair next to Hammerlock, and Gaige, Salvador, and Krieg sat on the couch.

“Aurelia, how did you find these fillies?” Hammerlock asked

“That moonshot you mentioned, we found these seven fillies inside of it, and we all decided to raise them as our own, and guess what” Aurelia held up Rarity, “This little filly is your new niece” Hammerlock was in shock.

“But don’t these fillies have mothers?” Hammerlock asked

“No, they don’t like like they are from this world, so we decided to raise them as our own, they’ve also gotten pretty attached” Maya stated

“Alright then, I suppose I should be more accepting” Hammerlock stated, “Can I hold my niece, dear sister?”

“I suppose” Aurelia attempted to hand Rarity to Hammerlock, but Rarity blew a raspberry at Hammerlock, which made Aurelia smile and laugh, “Ahahahaha, it seems she takes after her mother! That is hilarious!”

Hammerlock rolled his eyes, “Oh, of course she does”

Claptrap entered Hammerlock’s house, “Guys Guys, Captain Flynt has my ship, if we can get to it, we can find our way to Sanctuary”

“Sounds good, but let’s get some rest, it’s gonna be a long journey” Maya stated

Salvador was writing a letter to his Aubuela, “And it is finished, is mail still a thing?”

Hammerlock stated, “Yes, place it in the mailbox at Liar’s Berg”

Salvador ran out with Applejack and put the letter in the mailbox, he then ran back.

Zer0 spoke up, “Rest is essential / not just for us / but for the fillies aswell”

“Zer0 is right, we should allow the fillies to get some sleep, they’re probably very tired” Gaige stroked a sleeping Starlight’s mane

And with that, they all drifted off to sleep, each with their own daughters, except for Hammerlock, who mostly stayed awake.

Wow, this is quite the turn of events Hammerlock thought to himself.
