Chapter 1: Whatever happened to Master?
The cold and dark library seemed like an endless maze to 'Wolf'.
but to Master, it had no relevance whatsoever.
He only cared to find the one thing he needed. Presumably, some powerful spell that probably belonged to Star Swirl the bearded. Did he even know who that was? But whatever that was, he wouldn't eat, sleep, drink, or do anything else until it's found. Ages upon Ages, and still, no satisfaction. Master lost all emotion. Well, to 'Wolf' at least. The only ounce of feeling that Master had was disappointment. Everything else was gone. Shattered from loss of all hope that he'll get out with a simple object of value that he desired. After departure from his canine friend, he was alone. No longer having an assistant to help him in this pointless search, he had to do it alone.
Walking, Walking, Walking...
Dead silence. The only sounds to accompany master were his hoofsteps and magic aura lifting books upon books, searching for the correct title, echoing in the long and empty halls of the library. It's not like the torch flames were eternal, right?
but he had no time for that. He needed to find that thing. That thing, whatever it was, even if it's the last thing he did before he departs from the soft, yet ice cold arms of life. In this house of madness, there was no day or night. There was no time. Many years had passed and Master didn't feel a thing. Even after Wolf and Teric met, Master kept searching, and it's already been 167 years, yet Master doesn't feel any older. So now he questions himself and his goals, his aims, his ambitions. He never dared question them before, but now he did. That was the only thing besides searching that would keep him from venturing into insanity. His mental state, it was completely ruined and he needed a break. Coincidentally, Wolf, otherwise known as Doctor Wolf is a therapist. If only master could leave, he would've taken the opportunity.
This Doctor wasn't just any doctor. It was Wolf himself, who lived with him, helped him, and aided him for centuries. But no, that book of some sort was much more important. This wolf grew up and became a doctor, and he had no idea. he never thought of that because he never knew it happened. he missed his assistant's greatest feats.
But why? Why can't he just... Go there? Why let himself fall in a deep hole where there wasn't enough time yet it never passed? Was he intentionally torturing himself, If so, then...
why....?
With the small ounces of sanity he had, those were his final thoughts before his state of mind was stopped completely. All his braincells refused to cooperate and all he had was horrible memories of what he's been doing for 538 years. Such a foolish pony he was, he thought. He's worked himself to the point of no return. When he Could've gone back and started a new life, he didn't. Such a foolish pony he was. Usually master would not cry, but he couldn't. He cried himself to sleep and for who knows how long, he gave in to a long slumber in a large corridor where there was nothing but bookshelves.
Millenia later, Master would be in luck. The desert's landscape had changed completely and half the library was cemented into the sediments. Master woke up in A hallway where the was light. Part of the roof was gone, and his back ached like it was broken. Gingerly, he tried walking to the light he hasn't seen in so long, surprised to see that a small tribe of Saddle Arabian ponies-- or what he thought were ponies had settled near the library. Finally. After so long, he can contact another living being again.
Slowly, but somewhat painfully walking out of the library and following the light from the roof, he finally breathed air again.
That's when one of the camels saw him.
"Ah, Is that a pony I see? Us camels are honored to have you here in our home. What brings you here all alone in the desert?"
Master could only utter a word.
"Wolf..."
"Wolf? I think I saw one while we were traveling. There was also a green dragon, maybe I was imagining things."
"W- What happened... to Wolf..?"
"Not sure, but he looked very tired, and the dragon was trying to keep him alive."
Master stared in terror.
"Did he di-"
"Hopefully the wolf and that dragon are okay. If you really wanna know, go to Ponyville. There's a therapist there and he's a wolf. The only one in town."
Master was caught off guard from all the events he missed out on. He needed to thank the dragon for keeping his apprentice alive and well, he needed to see his helper again. To see how much he's improved and grown without him.
"I see. Well, um, I'll be on my way."
"Don't forget to visit!"
"Of course."
"Oh, and you never told us your name. What is it anyway?"
But Master was already gone.
"I guess it's best not to know then?"
The camels nodded.
Master ran on the soft golden sands, and eroded sediment after sediment into different location as his hooves came in contact with the hot ground. The heat of the sun was blazing, and he knew he should stop running and take it easy before he gets a stroke. So he did. As his pace gradually decreased, Master used his forcefield spell to protect himself, which gave him some nostalgic thoughts of traveling with Wolf.
"Those were the days..."
He thought. he had nothing with him other than his magic to help him survive. He thought, he'd have to make pit stops to keep his health well enough that he could reach his destination.
This, this was a start of a new journey to see an old friend again.
Was he ever considered a friend? He seems to have unlocked a side of their relationship he's never seen before.
But now he's seen things.
He'll show his gratitude to that green dragon who saved his assistant's life.
He'll tell stories of what happened to him while he was gone, to his former assistant and good friend he calls Wolf.
