Where Are You?: The Sequel
Emotions and Eavesdropping
Previous ChapterFinally, taking a deep breath, Apple Bloom quickly opened the door.
That's when the noises stopped.
"Spike!" a lavender unicorn shouted out. "Did you find the book yet?"
"No, not yet." Spike replied from the pile of books he was swimming in. "Wait! Found it!"
The dragon suddenly popped out of the humongous pile of literature.
"Here you go Twilight!" he said.
"Thanks Spike!" Twilight Sparkle replied as she used her magic to levitate the book in front of her. "One more thing. Can you please find the Unicorn's Guide To Writing Sensual FanFiction please?"
Spike just looked at her, his mouth halfway opened. "....Sure thing, Twilight...." He buried himself in the books again, wondering why Twilight would even own a book like that.
Twilight was glad her horn had grown back. She had been stranded for TWO WEEKS without magic. That's like if you ripped the teeth and claws out of a bear and let them slowly, yet painfully, grow back.
But the main thing she was grateful for was the incident with Spike, which happened about four months ago. The unicorn had gotten so frustrated with such a small accident that she badmouthed her number one assistant. Spike had run away, thinking that he was no longer special to her. A series of events happened, and they eventually found each other. Twilight had gotten her horn bit off, and Spike almost died. But due to the power of love, Spike re-awoke and everyone and everything were happy once again.
And that's how Twilight wanted it to be from now on.
Twilight had let Spike take more breaks, days off, and many more. Though Spike had other ideas. Due to that stupid Dragon Code nonsense he had made up since he was just a baby, he pledged to do whatever help the unicorn needed. It got pretty annoying from time to time. But it seemed to get the job done quicker.
Suddenly, Sweetie Belle, Spike's marefriend, walked into the library.
"Hey Spike! Hey Twilight!" the white filly said.
"Hey Sweetie Belle!" Twilight said. "What brings you here today? Rarity didn't kick you kick you out again, did she-"
"No!" Sweetie replied. "Me and Spike were supposed to get ice cream today!"
"Okay, sure!"
"By the way, where is Spike?"
Spike suddenly popped his head out of the pile of books. "Right here!" He pulled out the book for Twilight. "Here you go!"
Twilight smiled and took the book.
"Ready to go for ice cream?" Sweetie asked.
"Sure am! Let's go!" Spike said.
Twilight smiled at the two youngings. Ah, they grow up so fast.
Spike and Sweetie Belle walked down the road that went through the middle of town.
"So, how's life been so far?" Spike asked with a chuckle.
"Oh, nothing much." Sweetie Belle replied. "Though Apple Bloom did recently have a nightmare."
"She did?" Spike asked. "When?"
"Last night, apparently. She said that her dreams involved her in the middle of a forest being chased by.....what are they called?"
Spike stared at her in confusion.
"Cockatrice...no." Sweetie muttered. "Australopithecus....no. Umm, Kiryu123.....definetly no......"
She continued to think and mutter to herself until the invisible dead light bulb that hovered above her little head suddenly sparked with life.
"I got it! Timberwolves! That's what they were called!" she exclaimed.
Spike stopped walking and stared at nothing. The word 'Timberwolf' sparked horrific images of what happened to him just months ago. Being surrounded by the horrid beasts, burning one alive, one grabbing onto the scales on his head and nearly killing him.... The haunting memories were suddenly cut short.
"Spike? You okay?" Sweetie Belle asked.
Spike didn't know that he had begun to cry. Regaining control of himself, he shook the tears away and kept on walking.
"What happened?" Sweetie asked.
Spike sighed. "Nothing."
"Are you sure?" the white filly asked.
"I-I'll tell you about it later, okay?" he said.
"How about in the Ice Cream Shop?" she suggested.
"Fine." he groaned.
The noises just suddenly stopped. Apple Bloom didn't question it. That was because she had other questions to worry about. Like what Applejack and Big Macintosh are doing in her room.
"Oh, Apple Bloom, yer' home." Applejack said.
Big Mac was sitting on the ground while Applejack was on the bed.
"What're ya'll doin' in mah room?" Apple Bloom asked.
"Umm....nothin'." Applejack said, easily lying. Big Mac socked her in the arm, clearly annoyed. She just glared back at him.
"What AJ here was tryin' to say was that we were discussing our plans fer' Hearts and Hooves Day." their big brother said.
"Ooh! Can I hear them!" Apple Bloom asked.
"Eenope." he replied.
"Why?" Apple Bloom complained.
"Because, it involves presents." he replied.
"Fine." Apple Bloom finally quit the argument. "See ya'll downstairs."
The filly walked out of the room and went downstairs. Once they heard her hoof-steps reach the bottom of the stairwell, the two older siblings continued their conversation.
Spike and Sweetie Belle had entered the shop and ordered their ice cream. Once they found a nice booth to sit at, Spike began to conversize.
"Do you really want to know what happened back there?" Spike asked, groaning.
"Please?!" Sweetie Belle pleaded.
"Fine." he mumbled. "It happened about four or five months ago-"
"She almost caught us, AJ!" Big Mac lectured. "Ah told ya' we had to find a different spot to speak!"
"Well sorry!" Applejack replied with a sarcastic tone. "Ah didn't know she'd be back this early!"
"Forget about it." Big Mac replied. "Let's focus on the real question: When are we goin' to tell Apple Bloom?"
"Tell her what?" Applejack asked, being brought off guard by Apple Bloom's previous sudden entrance. "Sorry, it's just that ah lost track of our conversation when Apple Bloom came in."
Big Mac sighed. "When are we goin' to tell her about our parents."
"...You see, when Twilight called me Useless, I guess I just took it the wrong way." Spike said. "I ran to my room crying up a storm, and I decided to pack up my things and..." he paused for a moment, tearing up.
"Do what?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"...Run away."
"Oh, right. In all honesty, Big Mac, ah don't know. Ah really don't know." Applejack replied.
"Do ya'll even think now's the right time to tell her?" the red stallion asked.
"Again, ah don't know. Ah feel she's old enough to find out, considering she knows about the Birds and The Bees, but at the same time, ah don't think she's ready."
"...When Twilight and I fell into the water, a timberwolf suddenly appeared behind me and pulled me underwater." Spike was now completely crying. "I couldn't breath and my eyes were burning from the saltiness."
Sweetie Belle just stared at Spike in amusement and sorrow.
"By the time she had gotten me, I thought it was too late." he sobbed.
"What do you mean 'too late'?" she asked.
Spike took a deep breath, trying to calm down. Though that was easier said than done.
"I-I thought I had died." he said.
"Why did you think you had died?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Because...." he began sobbing again. "...Because I saw the light."
"She'll have to find out eventually." Big Mac said.
"I know." Applejack responded. "I know."
The two continued their conversation. However, none of them heard tiny hoofsteps come back up the stairs and stand right outside the door.
Listening to their entire conversation.
