Tex on the farm

AppleJack got a spare room ready, she was freaking out as her family watched.
"Calm down Applejack.'' Said Applebloom breaking the silence.
"Calm down? We got a guest coming and I still got things to get ready." Said Applejack.
"The room is fine Applejack." Said Grand pare. "Trust me, I talked to Burnt Oak and he said that Tex would be fine with a normal room.''
"But I really want to make sure he comfy." Said Applejack all a fluster as she was still not used to the whole love thing.
"Applejack calm down." Said Grand pare. "Things will be fine.''
"OK grand pare, but just got to make sure that the bed is fine tho." Said Applejack still going overboard.
"Heaven help us." Said Grand pare facehooving.
"Yep." Said Big mac.

Later that evening, Tex arrived he did not have much as he was shown to the room later dropping a few bits into Applejack's hoof to "to pay for room and board," Tex then went into the bedroom, and closed the door, saying he was tired from the walk after thanking Applejack and did not speak another word to anypony. Later at night. Applejack could not sleep a wink. Just a bit away was a stallion she had just met and for the first time was attracted to and wondered how to deal with all this.

Applejack got up to get a drink of water, when she went by the room Tex was in she could swear she heard him talking to some pony but could just barely hear them.
"Yes I will try to take things easy, but I will feel better when I am home and my parents are there as well."
Applejack knew she should not listen but could not help it.
"I know it's just being here while the others are waiting for the next fight. I just feel uneasy." Said Tex.
"What he mean by that?" Thought Applejack. "Was Burnt Oak going somewhere?" She was brought out of her thoughts by movement from inside and moved as fast and silent as she could to avoid getting caught as Tex looked out the door to see if any pony was there before going back in.
The next day Applejack woke up to see she overslept a bit and hurried down to find Tex and her Family already started working.
"Hey Applejack, sleep well?" Asked Applebloom
"Yes, but why did no pony wake me up?" Asked Applejack.
"You looked so peaceful we could not wake you." Said Sugarbell, and don't worry Tex was able to help with your share of the work.''
Applejack saw Tex helping out with some apples and he seem to be doing a good job.
"Go get 'em Applejack." Joked Suger belle as she playfully nudged Applejack.
"Hahaha very funny." Said Applejack as she walked up to him.
"Hey Applejack glad you up." Said Tex with a smile.
"Thanks, sorry I overslept, but thanks for helping out with things." Said Applejack with a nervous laugh.
"you sure your feeling OK?" Asked Tex with a raised eyebrow. "You look a little red"
"OK sure, why wouldn't I be?" Asked Applejack all a stutter trying to find the words.
As that went on her family watched facehooving themselves.
"This is not going well." Said Applebloom.
"Nope." Said Big mac.
"Heaven help me if I ever get great-grandkids from her." Said Granny Smith.
"Come on it's not that bad." Said Sugar Belle as they saw Applejack try and fail to find the right words over and over and Tex being left confused. Then saw Applejack accidentally knock over a cart of apples that Tex got ready.
"OK yeah, it's that bad." Said Sugar belle.
"Yep." Said, Big Mac.
''Heaven give us strength.'' Said Grand pair.
''Yep.'' Said Big mac.
They saw Tex help her up as she giggled all nervously as he helped her put the barrels back up and the apples back.
Took a while but managed to get everything done.
''Thanks for the help Tex.'' Said Applebloom.
''You're welcome.'' Said Tex.
''You sure did a good job for a pony who says they are not good at this.'' Said Sugar belle
"Yeah are you sure you're not a farm pony?" Asked Applebloom.
''No, I just grew up a ranch kid on my grandma and grandpa's land.'' Said Tex.
''That would explain how you are were so buff and knew your way around this kind of thing.'' Said Grand pair.
''Sounds like a lot of fun.'' Said Applebloom.
Tex said nothing he just got a serious look.
(Flashback)
"Orphan, orphan, Tex is an orphan." Said a group of young ponies as Tex helped out his grandma and grandpa.
''I heard his mom showed up and dumped him with her parents.'' Said one fowl.
''Must have wanted a girl.'' Said another fowl.
''Or just did not want kids at all.'' said another fowl.
''They don't even know who his dad is.'' Said Another fowl.
''He's probably dead.''
(Flashback end)
Tex fought the urge to cry. ''I'm gonna put these away.'' Said Tex as he did just that.
''Tex?''' Asked Applejack.
''Leave him be Applejack.'' Said Grand pair.
''But he looks so sad.'' Said Applebloom.
''A stallion's past is his own business.'' Said Grand pair.
Before anything else could be said Burnt oak showed up.
''Hey Burnt Oak, you here to see Tex?'' Asked Applebloom.
''Yeah, where he at?" Asked Burnt oak as they pointed to where.
''Thanks.'' Said Burnt oak as he went to check on Tex.
Burnt oak found Tex finishing up when he saw him.
''Oh hey did.'' Said Tex.
''You OK son?" Asked Burnt oak.
''Yeah just thinking about things.'' Said Tex.
''Tex, Tex look at me.'' Said Burnt oak as he got Tex to look at him.
''I'm your father you know you can tell me if something is bothering you.'' Said Burnt oak.
''Just some things reminded me of my childhood growing up without you and mom due to what Nightshade did.'' Said Burnt oak.
''And it opened up some old wounds?" Asked Burnt oak with an understanding smile as Tex nodded.
''I'm sorry I was not there for you Tex, but I'm here now. You feel down you can talk to me.'' Said Burnt oak.
"I know dad, and I don't blame you or mom I blame Nightshade." Said Tex.
''It means a lot to hear you say that.'' Said Burnt oak. ''And believe me, if I could I would give anything to undo all that was done.''
''I know Dad.'' Said Tex as they heard an explosion and saw several bits of smoke come from ponyville.
''That does not sound good.''' Said Tex as he went to go check.
''Tex where are you going?" Asked Applejack.
''To check things out all of you stay here.'' Said Tex as he headed for Ponnyville.
