Worlds Apart
Day
Previous ChapterSunset gasped in a state of panic. An icy chill seemed to run down her body in otherworldly waves of despair. Her bedroom was devoid of warmth even as the morning sun engulfed her sleeping area in vibrant light.
Wallflower was gone from the room altogether. The night before a blur of love and fleeting passion, Sunset could feel her chest tighten from the absence of her beloved flower. Without missing a beat she flung herself off the bed and dashed to the door, shoes an afterthought as she nearly stumbled downstairs in a blur of red.
The front door slightly ajar from the night before, Sunset quickly darted into the kitchen as she grabbed her cellphone. Panicked and near out of breath she dialed the only person that mattered in her life.
Multiple rings and no answer.
The sun outside that of a golden glow as she ran across her front yard hastily. A few children played outside during a game of early morning tag, Sunset felt her lungs burn as she ran down the sidewalk faster and faster.
Multiple cars zooming by as morning traffic began to build on the streets. She quivered with uncertainty before those numbers were dialed again.
No answer.
No hesitation was given as she blazed a path across the yard of her beloved, the wooden door a final fearsome obstacle in her path. Sunset's hands pounded the door in a frantic knock, a startled scream heard within.
The redhead slowed the knock to a faint echo, sirens blared on the horizon as her heart sank deeper.
Catching her breath she made her way to the empty bench out front. The bus would be late today, warmth could be felt at her side as she struggled to catch her breath.
A faint but familiar sensation.
The world around her growing silent, teal eyes lost on watching morning dew trickle down the flowers across the street.
Much like the tears rolling down her cheeks.
