Fall of Two Worlds: Lunar's Light
Forest of the dead
Load Full StoryNext ChapterWe wondered through the Everfree forest, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and myself landing after the purple cloud appeared, we weren't rushing but needed to get to Nightmare moon sooner, rather than later, for everyone's and everypony's sake. Spike had received a letter just before we left for the forest, we had two days at best to stop Nightmare moon and get her, force her if need be, to close the portal between worlds. I knew how many billions were living on Earth, but on Equestria, I had no idea, I asked as we walked through the dark forest, blood curling screams and cries coming up from the various monsters of the forest.
"So, how many celestial beings live on Equestria-" I added more to stop suspicion. "-like how many ponies?" I asked. Twilight gave a face as she thought about it.
"About, seven hundred million live on Equestria alone, the land, the country is so vast it can hold loads of isolated towns and cities and still have huge numbers. That is only counting the Ponies, there are also the Pegasi that stay in the clouds, known mainly as sky dwellers, they number to sixty million, then the thirty something million sea ponies, the isolations, the dragons, the legendary Changlings. Our planet has about an overall population of two and a half billion. Why?" Twilight asked, and I paused.
"Because I was wondering how many will die if we can't get past those." I muttered, in front of us stood the impossible. Twenty or so, human skeletons stood in out path, none armed, but had sharp clawed bones. "That is not possible." I muttered. The dead were slow and their bones incredibly bleached and old, very, very old. The ones still with skulls attached had bright blue, cold eyes. Twilight and the rest were paralyzed. I, being a veteran of fantastic war games, was surprisingly unafraid of these undead, just very confused. I pattered the ground with one hoof and stared at the oncoming dead.
"Twilight, anytime you wish to do something you may." Was all I said, then charged the skeletons. My initial reaction to some undead, human, skeletons was, fear, exhilaration I was now going to blindly run into some undead and just attack. I also felt pity and sorrow for wherever these skeletons had come from and who made them fight us. That I would have to ruin their rest to destroy them. I saw how sharp their finger bones were and almost hesitated. But then didn't and charged faster. I kicked the first one square in the chest and got a cut on my ear from a seconds swipe, I saw Rainbow Dash fly in and kick a skeleton to pieces, Applejack soon ran in and 'bucked a skeleton to next month' as she would say. Rarity was watching, not wanting to get 'barbarically' brutal I presumed, kicking another skeleton and getting another cut on my forehead, both cuts were bleeding as I saw some blood come into my vision for a second.
Pinkie Pie now ran in and kicked an undead into pieces, I destroyed my third and Rainbow was swooping in and destroying one then flying out of range, it was probably a better idea than mêlée, but I was too busy to change tactics. Suddenly a flame shot up on each skeleton and then began to burn, the fire occasionally falling to the ground but then dying out, I gave a quick glace over to Twilight, who's horn was glowing very brightly, she looked slightly tired and got more worn out as each second passed on her using her magical attack. Then just as I thought it was all for nil, the skeletons collapsed on themselves and stayed down, blue eyes dying out. I gave a cheer and saw everypony rush to Twilight, who had fainted under the stress of the magic. I figured she wasn't a big offensive magic user and trotted over. Knowing much about magic lore from all the fantasy crap I checked Twilight over, her pulse, her breathing, (her mana/magic source if I was a unicorn and could do that, so got Rarity to). After some confused looks from the ponies as to how I knew, we all agreed Twilight would be fine soon. So we decided to wait. Sitting in the darkness, with enemies closing in. But how were we to know that?
"Skeletons!" Pinkie Pie shouted, I jumped up, Twilight was still unconscious, and we were deciding whether to drag her to the castle due to time or not. I had been laying under a tree when Pinkie shouted, at first I didn't see anything, then pairs of blue eyes appeared and I ran toward the undead, destroying them as they came, my cuts were still bleeding but not as much and Rainbow Dash had offered to hold a leaf over it to slow the blood loss. I had accepted, Rainbow Dash had held the leaf for a good fifteen, and although the bleeding hadn't stopped and it was stinging like hell, I still thanked Rainbow for her efforts.
"Rarity! Rainbow, Applejack help me! Pinkie, Fluttershy, wake Twilight up, we're out of time!" I shouted, beheading a skeleton with my sore hooves. I was getting tired, but the mission at hand was more important. I kept fighting, as did the other ponies, as Pinkie was shouting for Twilight to wake up.
"Persistence, Sacrifice, Defence, Loyalty, Magic, Kindness, Helping." Twilight muttered. She was still sleeping.
"What?" Pinkie asked. I knew some of those, she was naming the Elements of Harmony, well, some. The others I wasn't really sure about. Then it hit me. The Elements are forged once a pure soul is made, so what about the Elements changing as the soul does. Rainbow had helped me with my bleeding head. Fluttershy had stayed kind to waking Twilight, Pinkie was persistent in waking her hurt friend up, Applejack was defending us all. Rarity hadn't faltered the slightest even after her complaining and had stayed loyal to Equestria. Twilight of course had saved us with her magic. The sacrifice one, or the seventh Element altogether I wasn't entirely sure on. It was so confusing. Suddenly Twilight sprung up as the last skeleton fell.
"We are out of time. Run my little ponies! Before Nightmare finds the Elements of Humanity! I mean Harmony. No." Twilight lost track and began to run, as did the rest of us as more skeletons came out of the woods.
