For those wondering when the romance would start, wait no longer; this chapter is for you!

Season 1: Episode 8 - Beginnings of Romance

The next day, Twilight was having such a blast being together with Flash all day as she gave him the rest of the Ponyville tour and even later when she finally got that request letter sent. This got Twilight curious about perhaps trying to date Flash Sentry. Thankfully, Celestia was more then happy to let Twilight appoint Flash as her Friendship Guard Captain. And while it wouldn't be as big of an army like that seen in Canterlot or the Crystal Empire, Celestia did have a sizable number for Twilight's castle.

"And thankfully, Princess Celestia is willing to overlook your little time traveling incident provided you don't try anything crazy like that again." Twilight said. "Because I'm telling you what she wrote to me: If you show any signs of going back to your old ways, I am authorized to use a certain spell on you that'll make it so you will no longer be able to use magic until someone casts the counter spell on you." She explained.

"Don't worry...that won't be necessary." Starlight said, smirking. "So...is it just me, or is there a possibility of your friendship with Flash Sentry going further?" She asked.

"I won't deny the possibility. He's just so nice. He's everything I could've wanted in a stallion and more...I just don't want it to look like I'm rushing things." Twilight said.

"I really wonder if I connect back with Sunburst enough, we'll end up like this too. It's a thought..." Starlight said.

"That would be interesting. But I don't see how that's a friendship related situation." Twilight said.

"Gee, for the princess of friendship you sure can get short sighted. I mean, how do you think romantic relationships start off like anyways? From what I've seen, all it takes is for a two ponies who are really great friends with each other to really click to set that kind of romantic relationship off." Starlight said.

"Huh...I guess when you put it like that, it would be friendship related. Perhaps I could give it a try; who knows? In the future, it could make for the ultimate friendship lesson!" Twilight said and then went off.

"...I didn't actually think she'd take me seriously...I was just making stuff up. But was I right somehow? From what I've seen, the two do click quite a lot." Starlight said.

"A date?" Flash Sentry asked, confused.

"Just to test the waters. I would love to see if there is a potential for us to be more then just a princess and the captain of her guard." Twilight said with a blush.

"...Well I'm not one to defy an order from a Princess; even if it is for a date." Flash Sentry said.

"Just don't treat me like royalty during the date would you? I'd rather you not address me by my title and instead just call me Twilight during the date." Twilight said.

"Of course...I figured as much." Flash said, smiling. "Just one question: Should you tell your brother about it if it goes well?" He asked.

"Nah. I'm not telling him anything. Remember how we need to get back at him for the whole eye thing? Well there's a way to do that, and for me to get back at him for not notifying me that he was dating Cadence until the day of their wedding." Twilight said, smirking.

"Oh. I see what your throwing down. That's clever. And it would certainly show him up." Flash Sentry said.

"I think we're going to have a fantastical date." Twilight said.

Twilight should've looked up a dictionary, because 'fantastical' wouldn't be the word should would use to describe her date that night.

Because calling it 'fantastical'...

Well that would be an understatement.

"THAT. WAS. THE. BEST. THING. EVER!" Twilight practically jumped around shouting.

"My ears!" Flash Sentry said, but bared with it.

"I can't believe how much I enjoyed that date! That was so good! I was told that I shouldn't try to plan everything out. And you know what? I didn't. For the first time in my life, I just improvised everything and didn't plan everything in advance. I thought about it, and figured that I might as well wing it for my first ever date. And you know what? I think the fact that the entire date I improvised actually made it more enjoyable for me!" Twilight said.

"Really? I couldn't tell. I was enjoying myself all the same. It felt like it was all planned though." Flash Sentry said.

"Well it wasn't! I had no planning. I wanted this all to be all improvised. And I think we both enjoyed that more." Twilight said. Suddenly she heard someone scream "SAY WHAT?!". Suddenly out of the bush came Rainbow Dash and Applejack.

"YOU IMPROVISED THAT ENTIRE TIME?!" Rainbow Dash said, already up in Twilight's face. Twilight rolled her eyes.

"Yes Rainbow. The entire time I improvised. So what? It was actually enjoyable for me." Twilight said.

"But...that wasn't the usual sappy romance stuff...you know like with Rarity." Rainbow Dash said.

"I'm sure if it was Rarity, it would be sappy romance. You know how she is. But that's not me, and you know that." Twilight said.

"I thought for sure that you'd plan this whole date out...darn." Rainbow Dash said. Suddenly a wonderbolt limped into town with a clearly removed wing.

"Is that a wonderbolt?" Flash Sentry said.

"Quick, call a medic!" Twilight said. Before Flash and the two girls could leave however...

"Wait...you have to warn Rarity...a unicorn stallion means to do her harm..." The Wonderbolt said. "His name...is Insightful Wraith..." They said before fainting from the blood loss.

"MEDIC!" Twilight yelled.
