Raising My Own

Twilight Sparkle stood proud of herself as she finally hatched the dragon egg her idol had given her for the final test for entry into the School of Magic. With her new cutie mark, she felt very accomplished and wondering what will become of the baby dragon at her hooves. "So your highness what's will happen to the baby dragon? Will he be returned to his parents?"

"What will become of him is all on you Twilight Sparkle. You hatched him now he's your responsibility." Twilight and her parents became stressed and Twilight began hyperventilating. Raise a dragon! She began to pace around rambling on what she'd have to acquire. Sitting down by the dragon she admired the green spines on his head trailing down his back she looked up and decided on a name.

"I'll name him Spike and I'll teach him everything I can" she declared as she levitated him onto her back and trotted out of the room followed by her family. Once home, Twilight raided her father's study for books on parenting and began reading, at the same time she had a bottle prepped to feed Spike. Twilight was still a filly herself and she was driven to tackle her lot in life.

[5 years later]

Twilight sat at her desk and was hoping that her little Spikey-Wikey was behaving himself. Her mother and father helped out a ton but she bore the brunt of the weight. Between school and raising a dragon Twilight didn't have much time for making friends. Twilight when she got home put her books on her desk and spent the next few hours playing with Spike. He was getting bigger and more mobile, she was afraid of losing him. He was proving to be quite smart when it came to shapes and colors and basic pre-K stuff. His first word made Twilight squee in delight as he called her "mama". His first doctor visit was rough as trying to find a needle strong enough to get him vaccinated for the Flu and other basic illness outside of a common cold.

[3 years later]

Twilight had Spike pack his suitcase to travel to Ponyville because according to a prophecy the stars were aligning for the return of Nightmare Moon, Spike had wanted to attend a party that Twilight and he had been invited to, however, the situation he knew would cause his mother to make a hasty last-minute trip. The pair booked it out of town and on the way ran into Minuette, Lemon Drops, and Twinkle Shine. They made it to Ponyville, and Twilight was told by Celestia to check on the preparations for the Summer Sun Festival and told Twilight to make some friends and not worry about Nightmare Moon. During that time of checking the set up for the celebration, she and Spike met five other ponies and Spike made it obvious he found a certain fashion designer attractive. He wasn't that old yet and had already developed his first crush.

[2 weeks later]

Princess Luna was restored and now Twilight enrolled Spike in school, he begrudged the idea and already hit a point where he developed a couple more crushes. Twilight was doing her best to raise him but the rough patch was just ahead. Twilight had noticed Spike not only was interested in the female species but also in other males.
