Sunset Shimmer, trecherous ex-student of Princess Celestia, has returned to Equestria as a thief, stealing the crown of the Element of Magic before disappearing back into her mirror dimension. With one of the kingdom's most powerful and important magical artefacts stolen, Princess Twilight has no choice but to follow after the power-hungry pony and retrieve the crown before it can be used for evil. She doesn't know what lays beyond the ethereal glimmer of the mirror's surface, but with her lifelong friend and assistant at her side, she knows she can accomplish anything. Right?
