Given that Twilight had stepped into the portal, she hadn't expected to fall, nor to be spat out from the other side. The journey somehow felt like a straight drop and a swirl along a winding slide, her body whipped back and forth until she couldn't tell which part of her was where. With a final jolt, she was flung into open air, stumbling and falling onto hard pavement, wincing at the rough landing. Opening her eyes, she was met with the black of night, replete with chirping cicadas. She couldn't be far behind the thief.
"Uh, Twilight?" a youthful voice reached her.
"Huh? Spike?" she asked, her thoughts immediately going to her companion. "You're not supposed to-" She stopped mid-setence as the boy walked into her view. He didn't resemble the purple dragon who'd been hot on her hooves as she'd chased down the other unicorn, leaping through the portal she'd only recognised as a mirror as she collided with the not-so-solid surface. Her eyes darted from the quadreped's paws to his tail and to his floppy ears, none of which ought to have been present on her lifelong assistant. The collar was definitely a new addition. "Are you a...dog?"
"I think so," he answered uncertainly, spinning in a slow circle as he tried to observe himself. His surprise at his new anatomy seemed to settle down fairly quickly, but when he looked at Twilight, his face widened into a look of shock. His eyes flicked up and down, trying to take in the sight of her. "But I have no idea what you are!"
She looked down, taking notice of her body for the first time since they'd arrived. Her body wasn't the same shape, didn't have the same dimensions as she'd always possessed. She didn't have hooves, or even a coat, and her middle was thinner and leaner, and perhaps most strange of all, she was wearing clothes. She had no idea where they'd come from - she wasn't wearing any when she jumped through the portal - or why she was wearing them now, but they'd appeared on her so swiftly and comfortably that she hadn't noticed until she actively looked at herself. Her breathing quickened as she raised her arms up, taking in the new appendages in startled disbelief. Her limbs were skinny and long, more like a dragon's than a pony's, and prehensile digits tipped the palms at the end of her arms. Flexing her fingers a few times, she felt a scream building inside her.
Perhaps it was the panic and disorientation that stopped her from hearing the footsteps, or maybe she was so astounded, overloaded by new information and data, that she became oblivious to her surroundings. That might've been why she didn't notice Spike's expression change from shock to terror, his growl coming a split second before an explosive hiss roared past Twilight, the noise unwelcomely loud and piercing. Even as she jerked away and turned to see the source, a dense mist engulfed Spike, sending him spluttering and coughing as he tried to pull away, gasping in heaving breaths. He staggered away from the rapidly-dissipating cloud, wheezing and stumbling as the gas took effect on him.
Twilight tore her eyes away from her friend to the assailant, caught between backpedaling and throwing herself at the threat. Towering over her, a bipedal creature leered down, cyan eyes glaring wickedly, and almost gleaming with malicious amusement. A cloth was tied over her mouth, hiding whatever vindictive sneer she had, and the rest of her was covered in clothes that looked familiar, yet strangely proportioned; a leather jacket, a skirt, and some sort of boot, all of which fit the girl's vertical frame in a way that seemed alien. In her hand she held an aersol can, which she turned from the wheezing Spike towards Twilight, pointing the nozzle squarely at the girl's face. Before she could object, the assailant unleashed another dose, sending a cloud to engulf Twilight.
The gas forced its way up Twilight's nose, burning as it seeped into her bloodstream almost immediately, her eyes watering from the contact, and when she gasped from the shock, the spice hit her lungs. It was pervasive, and no matter how hard she gagged or spluttered, it remained lodged in her airways like a blockage. She tried to cover her face, batting at the air futilely, but it had no effect. She couldn't see, she couldn't breathe, and the only sounds she could make out were her own struggled gasps and the throbbing, pounding beat of her heart.
"Spike!" she shouted, the words wheezed breathlessly. "Spike!" Her voice sounded off, as if it was coming from further away than it should, and she realised just how weighty everything felt. Her limbs responded sluggishly, her body growing heavier as the seconds ticked by. It was as if the gas was swirling in her head, occupying all the space it could, and adding mass to her beleagured body. She was tired, and growing ever more fatigued, the creep of unconciousness beckoning. She didn't want to sleep, she wanted to get up and grab Spike, make sure he was okay, and run far from here. Her body didn't give her a choice; it stopped responding to her desperate calls to action, shutting down as it accepted the warm embrace of sleep. It was too hot, and perhaps she just needed a rest.
Consciousness returned in a flash, an instantaneous transition from nothingness to complete and full awareness of her surroundings. It wasn't a jerky awakening, but rather an immediate resumption of vividness. More than anything, she was confused; where was she, and how did she get here? Glancing around, she saw she was in an open plan room, not dissimilar to the Golden Oaks Library, and the realisation she was laying on a bed only made the comparison more stark than she'd anticipated. Had she been sent back to Equestria? Or maybe she'd dreamt it all, and had never left at all?
An attempt to sit up alerted her to the binds around her limbs, holding her supine on the comfort of the duvet beneath her. So she hadn't been dreaming; her legs were skinnier and longer than she was used to, and instead of hooves, cuffs were clamped around thin wrists. She tugged, hearing the metal links rattle as she pulled against them, but they didn't loosen or give way, an ache developing where the edge pressed against her skin. Giving up, she tried her legs, the rope around her ankles seeming to grip tighter as she pulled.
A rhythmic thud pulled Twilight's attention away from her predicament, and she stopped trying to free herself as she focused on the new sound, following its movement. It was coming from below, from the floor below, like heavy steps moving deliberately towards something. As well as she could, she tried to follow the noise, tilting her head in the direction of its source, her mind falling into a routine of analysis on instinct. It didn't sound like hooves, but the weight of each step sounded far weightier than that of Spike's feet or paws. There wasn't the harsh click that came with the hardness of keratin or the clack of claws, but a steady thud in a repeating pattern, like something bipedal.
The realisation hit her at the same time as a figure came into view, emerging into Twilight's field of view as they climbed the stairs. Her hunch had been right; the creature making the noise was bipedal, and so their fiery crimson and yellow hair was the first glimpse Twilight got of whomever was approaching. It flowed from the figure's head in waves, tumbling past their shoulders to the middle of their torso. The dimensions of this creature were startlingly familiar, their stature and shape exactly like her own new form, and a shudder ran through her at the unnatural normality of it. The smile didn't ease her mind at all - pearly white and emanating deviant excitement, something she'd attribute to a foal on Hearth's Warming Day if it weren't for how much it resembled a sneer. Most of all, though, the eyes confirmed what she'd figured out - gazing intently, shining with unsavoury joy, the cyan irises almost glowing from how intense the sharp stare aimed at her was.
The same cyan of the girl who'd ambushed her.
"Who are you?" Twilight demanded, summoning her courage and fortifying her tone into something she hoped was authoritative. "Why did you attack me?" She held her defiant glare as the other girl approached, pushing down the rising concern in her chest.
"Because it was necessary," the girl answered, coming to a halt beside the bed. Her voice was silky smooth, brimming with confidence, and the barest glaze of huskiness. "It's not really my style, but I didn't have a choice. You did follow me, as I thought you would."
"Through the portal?" Twilight repeated. "You're the thief who stole my crown! You're from Equestria!" She balked, unsettled at the alien figure. "How did you-" She cast an eye down at her own body. "-we become this?"
"There's a lot to explain, so let me answer your most pressing questions in one big monologue," the kidnapper offered, a sly smile spreading over her face. "My name is Sunset Shimmer, and I was Celestia's promising prodigy before you. Many moons ago, I grew impatient with her teachings, wanting more than the meagre offerings she was taunting me with, so I set out to write my own destiny. Against her orders, I fled through the mirror when it activated, searching for more power and knowledge on the other side. I've been here ever since, waiting in willing exile."
"But why?"
"Because Celestia wouldn't share it," Sunset answered. "She refused to talk about it, denied any line of conversation which could lead to me learning more. I had no choice but to take the jump. I'm glad I did; this world has so much to offer, if you know what to look for." She rolled a hand in front of herself and admired her own flexing fingers. "It isn't like anything Equestria can offer, and I admit it takes a lot of familiarisation, but what you learn here is..." She breathed in deeply, her smile broadening and deepening. "It's so much more than anything Equestria can offer. There's so much more than just magic. It's new and fresh."
"What do you mean?" the incapacitated girl asked, trying to remain resolute in her posture as Sunset returned her full attention. "What's here that's more powerful than Equestrian magic?"
"You're asking a lot of questions, princess," the fiery-haired girl sneered. "Here's how it's going to work - you ask something, and I get something in return. One question, one return." Twilight barely restrained a shiver at the leer she received. "They don't have magic here. There's no levitation, no teleportation, no duplication, no summoning. The creatures of this dimension are restricted to their bodily functions, none of which are enhanced or augmented. Everything they do, they do through their own motor functions." As if to demonstrate, she plucked a rectangular object from her pocket and held it up. "This is a cell phone. You can use it to talk with anyone who has one, as if they were standing right in front of you, whatever the distance. You can send a written message far more quickly and easily than writing and delivering a letter." A mischievous smirk crossed her face, and she took the phone in both hands, thumbs clicking against the screen. After a few moments, apparently satisfied, she shoved the item back in her pocket. "There. I had a conversation with a friend. You saw it in real time."
"That's impressive," Twilight admitted. "But if this world has technology beyond what Equestria's capable of, why did you need to steal my crown? Why did you kidnap me?" She blinked, terror pooling in her stomach as she remembered she hadn't come here alone. "Where's Spike? What did you do to him?! Spike! Spike!" She yanked at her bonds, trying to tear herself free with renewed vigour. "If you've hurt him-!"
"Relax," Sunset insisted, her tone laced with bored certainty. For a moment, though, a ripple of surprise had creased her face at the explosion of energy from her prisoner. "I haven't laid a finger on him. Like you, I kept him asleep and safe until the final night before the portal closed, and then I threw him back. He's safely in Equestria now."
"In Equestria?" Twilight repeated. The relief that poured over her momentarily doused her distress, but the cold weight of dread took its place as her captor's words registered with her. "The portal's closed? How long have I been here?"
"Three days." The words were spoken matter-of-factly. "Don't worry; I fed you, washed you, and kept you comfortable until I didn't need to keep you asleep. I took very good care of you, Twilight Sparkle. Some might even say you received a reception fit for a princess."
"Nopony deserves to be assaulted and kidnapped, nevermind a princess."
"We aren't ponies anymore," the other girl rebuked. "Besides, if you'd stayed in Equestria, I wouldn't have needed to greet you in the way I did. It was a precaution, and I was right; you were far too attached to your petty crown to leave it be. If you'd stayed, maybe Celestia would've told you about me, given you directions and explained what was going on. Or perhaps not. She was tight-lipped about a lot of things even when I was her student."
Twilight wanted to argue, but the words pricked at her, burrowing into her mind like pernicious splinters. She was unerringly loyal to the alicorn, but her captor wasn't speaking from a position of ignorance, clearly. More than once, Celestia had left Twilight to deal with problems without so much as a warning about what lay ahead. The Summer Sun Celebration had supposedly been the young unicorn's opportunity to make friends and organise an important calendar event, but all along, she'd been set up to solve an ancient riddle and save the world from eternal night. Her ascension to princesshood had been concocted from behind the scenes without her knowledge. As much as she hated it, Sunset had a point; Celestia told ponies only what she felt they needed to know. If she'd been more level-headed and remained behind, what would the tall white mare have imparted? The whole truth, or only some of it?
"For what it's worth, I'm sorry."
"What?" The apology threw Twilight through a loop, and she snapped her gaze to the amber girl.
"I'm sorry about drugging you," she explained. "Don't get me wrong - I did what I had to do, and I'd do it again in an instant if I had to, but it wasn't my first choice. I'd rather have never had to fight you at all. You deserve to know that I didn't want to render you and your little mutt unconcious. In truth, I only brought the chemicals along in case I had to deal with any pesky guards, but they proved easy to avoid. You weren't meant to follow me, and at that point, all I could do was correct that little error, but I acknowledge it was still so crude and brutish, and I'm not a monster like that. No - persuading you is where the real fun lies."
"Persuading me?" Twilight repeated. "Persuade me of what? To give up my crown? To just go home and let you wreak whatever havoc you have planned for this world?"
"Of course not," Sunset tutted, sounding disappointed. She stood up, stalking in a leisurely pace around to the foot of the bed. "I don't want you to return to Equestria. I want you to stay here with me." As she talked, her hands wandered, her palm gliding down the bound girl's thick knee-high socks. "I did say I'd be taking something in exchange for answering your questions, and we're several questions in." Her hand cupped Twilight's calf, conforming to the contours of the soft, supple leg, curving up to her shin and lathing down towards Twilight's ankles. With a few sharp plucks and a determined tug, Sunset unlaced the bulky shoes and wiggled them from her captive's feet, tossing them carelessly over her shoulder and leaving them to land with a loud clunk on the floor.
"What are you doing?" the purple girl asked, wiggling a little in place. Confusion mixed with apprehension, but her curiosity kept her relatively still.
"Those shoes were far too constraining," Sunset answered, running her thumb in slow circles over the bumps of ankle and palming the instep. "Do you know what they are? In this world, its inhabitants don't have hooves, they have feet, which are soft and vulnerable. They don't have the same toughness as hooves, which is why everyone wears shoes all the time, rather than as a fashion statement. They're big, bulky, constraining things. I don't like them. You deserve better. I deserve better." Smirking, she loosened the rope on Twilight's right leg, unweaving the knot and letting the limb free of its restraint. Her hands worked with purpose, reaching to the rim of the socks and dragging the woollen garment down, watching with a hungry fascination as more and more purple skin was unveiled. When Twilight tried to pull her leg free, Sunset gripped her with a iron grasp, fingers pressing roughly into her flesh until the futile struggling stopped, and the undressing could resume without interruption. She seemed to take particular joy in pulling the sock past Twilight's heel, eyes lighting up as the entire leg was freed from its clothy confines. Discarding the sock, Sunset retied the rope, over bare skin this time, and moved to repeat the process on the other leg.
"Wh-what are you doing?" Twilight demanded, her cheeks redder and her tone cracking under the awkwardness. "I-is this meant to break me down? Turn me against my friends? Torture me?" She sunk back at the rich laughter that resulted, amusement and smug superiority mixing into a swirl of silken carefree arrogance.
"Please," the fiery-haired girl dismissed. "I've already told you I'm not a monster. I don't want to hurt you. I want to show you what you're unable to see." She let her nails drag painlessly across the tense calf, leaving tingling trails in their wake as she moved. "Keep asking questions. It's adorable."
"Why did you steal my crown?" Twilight asked, fighting to keep her voice steady. She didn't want to let Sunset know that the touches and grazes were having such a substantial effect, even though the contact was minimal and delicate, almost reverent. If she didn't know any better, she'd call it a massage, though this was far more diligent and capable than even the experts at Ponyville's spa. Aloe and Lotus were mistresses of their craft, and they knew how to manoeuvre their hooves and manipulate the equine body in ways that guaranteed relief and relaxation. In spite of that, Sunset's technique was leagues beyond anything she'd experienced; the digits she used to brush and press were far lighter and more flexible, and without the familiar form of her pony body, Twilight was at the mercy of strange new sensations. Her muscles tensed and relaxed, stress that shouldn't have been there released in a instant, and in its place, a gentle glow that seeped into her tissue.
"That plan was actually very old," the amber girl answered, drawing a thumb across bare, boney ankle and following the turn of Twilight's heel. "I'd wanted to go after Celestia's crown, strip her of her regalia while she slept. It'd show Equestria that she was nothing but a pompous pony with a set of fancy jewelry, raising herself up with the false pretense of importance." The thumbs pressed insistently against the sole of Twilight's foot, kneading with enough force to pull a quiet, swift sigh from the girl, working in tight circles to cover as much surface as possible. "I returned to Equestria a couple of times to scout out the palace, only to discover the mirror wasn't in Canterlot any more. Then I learned about the return of Princess Luna, and the ascension of Princess Cadence, and finally...you."
"What made me so special?" Twilight demanded, biting her lip as Sunset switched feet, repeating her attentive motions on the other appendage. Her toes curled inwards involuntarily, instinctually reacting to the intensity of the slow, thorough squeezing and caressing. "Out of four alicorn princesses, you came for my crown. Why me?"
"Because you weren't always a princess," came the answer. "You weren't even always a leader. You were a loner, a nerdy little unicorn with a big brain and all the anti-social traits that came along with it. You were the chosen student of Princess Celestia, and you were a magical prodigy. In all senses, you were me."
"You?" the purple girl asked, scoffing at the accusation. "I'm not a thief, nevermind a traitor. How am I anything like you?"
"Neither was I," Sunset shot back. "I refused to submit to the restraints of the feeble, static norms of Equestria. I pursued learning, knowledge, and power, even when everypony around me tried to hold me back, while you sat obediently at your mistress' hooves and were groomed into royalty. A perfect little servant who could say all the right things and be the figurehead that was needed in case you were called in. That's where our differences emerged, princess."
"That's not true at all," the purple girl argued, pulling a breath through her teeth as the grip on her feet tightened, working deeper tissue. "You could've pursued other studies without resorting to thievery, assault, or kidnapping! You didn't need to get revenge for anything! Celestia wasn't holding you back from your potential - she was training you! If you'd been patient, trusted in her, and let her guide you, it might've been you who'd ascended to princesshood."
"Is that so?" Sunset asked, pinching a toe lightly, pincering it with a perfect precision. "What's your role, Princess Twilight Sparkle? Were you assigned stewardship of the moon and the night, watching over ponies while they slept? Were you allowed to mentor under Celestia's watchful gaze so you could help her guide her doting subjects during the day? Were you given the duty to control the weather, ensuring all the ponies of Equestria could enjoy the benefits of a perfect year, filled with bountiful harvests and warm evenings? Or was it something incorporeal - love?" She waited, tapping each toe teasingly, mockingly. When no answer came, she smirked. "The princess of silence - how novel!"
"I have duties," the cuffed girl insisted, her words ringing hollow even as she spoke them with as much dignity as she could muster. Her face burned from the brittleness of her claim, the pitying look she received making her flush in a mixture of shame and annoyance.
"I'm sure you do," the sneering girl answered, her voice dripping with insolence. "And I'm sure if you wait another few years - maybe a few decades - you'll eventually get a title of your own, too. I'm sure all you need to do is wait and wait and wait. Maybe if you smile and wave while the real princess attend to matters of state, you'll be rewarded with your own castle." She ignored Twilight's angry muttering and protests, gliding her palms up the irate girl's legs and locking eyes with her. "But you don't need a title or a castle. You're perfect as you are."
"...sorry?" The change of tone caught the captive off-guard, and she blanked for a second, fidgeting only slightly from the continuing caresses.
"You're perfect as you are," Sunset repeated. "You're smart, servile, and so deliciously cute in a way I know you aren't even aware of. Princess Celestia might not recognise your true value, Princess Luna might not trust you, Princess Cadence might not see you as anything more than a little filly treading in her hoofsteps, and the citizens of Equestria might not ever see you as more than a shadow of Celestia herself, but I know what you are, Twilight. I know you more than anypony else ever could. I understand you. I've been you, and now, I want to set you free."
"F-flattery won't turn me against Equestria," Twilight asserted, her tone lacking the bite she wanted.
"I'm not trying to flatter you. Flattery doesn't set people free, but the truth does. If I wanted to flatter you, I'd need to lie; you're so much smarter than me, Twilight Sparkle! You're so strong and independent, Twilight Sparkle! You're a trailblazer, Twilight Sparkle! I'm not going to feed your ego in the hopes you'll just listen to everything I have to say. I'm going to tell you things no matter how much you don't want to hear them, and make you hear them." She crawled onto the bed, straddling her captive's lower legs. "You were a slave. Your potential was shackled. You're not next in line to be the big shot in Equestria, and you're not forward-thinking enough to stop threats to it." She sat up, her posture relaxing, and her hands wandering to the soft purple thighs, kneading them idly. "You're already programmed to worship stronger mares than you, begging for their attention in the hopes of vicarious meaning. Don't get me wrong; you're a capable mare, but you'll never be more than a second-rate follower."
"What are you trying to do?" Twilight asked, frowning at the girl atop her. "You start by telling me I'm beautiful and smart, and then you tell me I'm nothing without someone to lead me-"
"I never said you were beautiful."
The air thickened around them, a prickling silence settling over the two. Twilight averted her gaze, feeling the smugness as Sunset watched her. She mumbled about it being a slip of the tongue, but the low, knowing chuckle undermined her explanations as quickly as she made them. Fingertips walked theatrically up the supple skin of her thigh, the pressure leaving pools of pleasantness as the digits advanced up to Twilight's hips, then across to the buttons of her shirt, toying with the nearest disk.
"When was the last time you asked yourself what you really want?" Sunset mused, the question seemingly aimed at no one in particular. She didn't even look at the person it concerned when she asked it, more content to pose the quandry than to have it answered. "You fling yourself from one event to the next, always posing as the upstanding and righteous pony Equestria needs, but why? Do you want it? Or do you need something meaningful in your life?" The first button slipped free of its hold, and the amber fingers moved to the next. "You aren't a meglomaniac, yet you want more power, more authority, more to do. You never were social, yet now one of your biggest priorities is the happiness and wellbeing of all the ponies of Equestria? Even at your own expense?" The second button was pushed through the slit holding it, and the shirt loosened some more, showing a sliver of purple belly skin beneath. "What is Equestria to do when its esteemed paragons are vessels for the ambitions of other creatures?"
"Why are you so upset with Equestria?" Twilight asked, a sad plea soaking her tone. "Even if you think Princess Celestia betrayed you, why are you making it sound as though ponykind is to blame for your misery?"
"I'm not miserable," Sunset corrected, sounding bored at having to establish the fact. "I'm incredulous. At first I might've been angry with Celestia for not realising my capability and my talents, but after spending time in this world, that changed. I came to see what else could be achieved, if we weren't held back by traditions and nonsensical reverance. I came to realise that all the magic in the world couldn't hold a candle to the sheer power of emotion and the mind. I discovered that if you could make people worship you, follow you no matter how dangerous or uncomfortable the path became, you held far more power than any spell or arcane ability. This world is living proof of that fact. It showed me what real power was, and I wanted it, more than I ever wanted magic or growth - more than I've ever wanted anything before. My goals changed."
The last button unfastened, Sunset untied the pink bow around her captive's collar with a sharp tug and pulled apart the two sides of the shirt, exposing the bound girl's torso. Her belly was smooth and soft, devoid of the pudgy excess emblematic of a sedentary lifestyle or the taut firmness of an athlete or model. She was average, unremarkable in her mediocrity, yet visually appealing for the exact same reason. Further up, her bosom was covered by a simple, functional bra, a plain white garment which didn't demand attention but which did nothing to shield the soft mounds from prying eyes. Her chest rose and fell in a nervous cycle, her breathing telegraphed to her watchful abductor. While she tried to shy away, twisting to stop the ever-piercing gaze focusing on her vulnerability, there was nowhere near enough range of movement to make that possible, and so the amber girl continued to drink in every detail, map every curve, memorise every graceful inch of skin. Her cyan spheres meandered undeterred, stopping whenever a sight or sentiment struck her, and she consumed the real time image of the helpless girl beneath her.
"Has a stallion ever shown interest in you?" Sunset asked, her voice soft and inviting. Beneath the surface, there lingered the unshakable authority she carried, but the question offered tranquility and safety.
"Th-that's private," Twilight answered, face flushing red. "I won't discuss my private life with ponies who aren't my friends, and we are far from being friends."
"I didn't think so," the fiery-haired girl continued. "You're starved for admiration and attention. You were so desperate to be complimented that you invented one, and from someone you don't even consider to be your friend." Her fingertips trailed over Twilight's belly, winding their way up and down. "You want to know your worth, and you desperately hope it matches the image you have of yourself in your head. You're many things, and yes, you are smart and brave, though I'd say that's down to you being foolish and naive. But beautiful? Well, as a pony, you were attractive. In this form? You're drop-dead gorgeous." She placed her palms flat, sliding them apart from Twilight's naval to caress the girl's sides in long, repetitive strokes. "This waistline is like a magnet for the eyes; you can't look away once you catch sight of it, and with how soft it is, there's no way you can't just grab hold and feel pure, elemental bliss. And speaking of grabbing hold..." The hands moved lower, knuckles grazing against the hardness they met. "...in this world, wide hips means a girl is perfect for mating. It's like being a walking advertisement."
"Mating?" Twilight asked, gulping. "But you-"
"It doesn't change that it's attractive," Sunset interrupted, grinning lecherously. "Like those legs of yours; look how smooth and long they are. It really highlights just how graceful and healthy you are. Your arms, too - slender and smooth, and don't get me started on hands and feet. Hooves are so bland, just flat stumpy ends to an appendage, but look how versatile hands and feet are. Let me show you what I can offer you." Pulling away, she turned Twilight's head to the side, making sure she could see the ascending figure, like the view she'd had of Sunset.
"I really should learn to expect things like this shouldn't I?" the new person asked, her voice silky smooth and feminine. She reached the top of the stairs, striding onto the platform that served as the appartment's bedroom.
"I told you I had company," Sunset answered, looking up to smirk.
"You did, but I didn't expect the company to be quite so...stationary." Eyeing Twilight, she let her lips be tugged into a warm smile. "I do hope she was expecting visitors?" At Sunset's wordless answer - a mischievous grin as she kissed Twilight's cheek in a saccharine display - the newest girl frowned. "I must say, I'm not fond of such crudeness. Brutalising a girl and forcing her to be your latest toy."
"Why does everyone think I'm some sort of monster?" Sunset asked, huffing indignantly. "First she thought I'd hurt her dog, and now you're accusing me of harming her."
"Her dog?"
"It's a long story, and you don't need to hear it. You're here to help me break her in, like I did with you."
"I...I see." The new girl straightened herself. "I apologise, I forgot my place."
"You're forgiven. Getting back on track, this is Twilight Sparkle." Her fingers scratched up and down Twilight's neck, agitating the tongue-slicked section she'd toyed with recently. "She's uppity, sure of herself, but pretty and intelligent. The perfect goody-two-shoes to turn into a useful toy."
"Hello, Twilight," the new girl replied, smiling pleasantly. If it were any other situation, the gesture would be welcoming. "My name is Rarity, and I am Sunset's partner-in-crime, confidant, paramour, and accomplice du jour. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Rarity?" Twilight repeated, her eyes widening, and she nearly sat up, the binds halting her before she had a chance. She hadn't realised it before, too distracted by the domineering actions of her captor and the confusing conversation to notice the obvious signs or the tingling familiarity. The mention of the name cleared her head, blowing away the fog that had recently clouded it, and she saw in sharp, shocking detail the woman before her. It was apparent, from the cascading purple curls of her hair to the marble, creamy skin, that this girl was, at the very least, a facsimile of one of her closest friends. Even her coat looked like something Rarity would don, a beige trenchcoat that wouldn't look out of place in a Shadow Spade novel, giving her that air of classy, dangerous mystique.
"Do we know each other, darling?" the girl who claimed to be Rarity asked, glancing back and forth at Sunset. "I don't recall us having met before."
"She knows someone like you," Sunset cut in, flicking Twilight's nose. "She comes from the same place I do." There was a flash of recognition over Rarity's face, and she nodded in understanding. "I was explaining the wonders of cell phones to her, telling her what they can do. Why don't you help me give her an up-close demonstration?"
With a small smile bordering on a smirk, and a sparkle of joyous mischief in her eyes, Rarity stepped forward so Twilight could easily see her and, making sure to gaze proudly at the constrained girl, parted her coat. Like a drawn curtain preceding a grand opening, Twilight was captivated by the confident, shameless reveal of slender white skin, each inch a salacious visual delight, and the more she exposed, the more shocked interest arose in Twilight, a sentimental crescendo that finally peaked as the coat was discarded, revealing what lay beneath. It took a few seconds for Twilight's brain to register exactly what that entailed.

Sunset lowered the bar, then rose it again suddenly, and Rarity's whine rose to a squeak, her hands scrunching around nothing.
"Stop it, you're hurting her!" Twilight objected, tugging at her binds fruitlessly. "She doesn't deserve this!"
"Honestly, princess, you're both clueless and melodramatic," Sunset sighed, tutting and shaking her head disapprovingly. "What is it with the constant insistence that I'm a horribly cruel monster? I've already told you that I don't want to hurt anyone, nevermind you. I didn't even want to resort to the drastic measures I had to use at the portal - your pursuit forced my hand, and you were unfortunate enough that I planned ahead. I didn't harm your precious little dog, I'm not going to hurt you, and I'm certainly not hurting the eloquent beauty over here." She turned her eyes to the girl in question, whose face was contorted by the sensations running through her. "Am I hurting you?"
"N-no," she uttered, the words struggled out past gasps and groans.
"I'm not convinced," Sunset replied, thumbing the bar down on her screen. "I think it's best if I stop, just to be safe."

"But Twilight thinks I'm hurting you," Sunset pointed out smugly.
"That is absolutely absurd!" She scowled for a second. "No offence meant, dear, but Sunset and her toys are enough to make me melt with ecstasy and turn my mind and body into jelly. "I've already claimed Rarity," Sunset cut in, ignoring Twilight's point and gesturing to the girl beside the bed. Rarity's face was a disciplined mask, but the twitches and shimmers of pleasure were undeniable, and the subtle shifting of her legs betrayed her apparent stoicism. "Does it seem like such a bad deal?"

I warned other students and teachers away from you, made sure they knew what you were and to avoid you if they could." She let out a shudder as Sunset added power to the egg. "But then something changed. You came to me to talk, you said I was hotheaded, stubborn, and high-strung, and you knew how to fix me. Fix me. I would've laughed if I hadn't been so offended! But you insisted, said you knew what was wrong with me, and said you felt the same way. I decided to give you a chance, see if there was something behind that cold facade I'd gotten to know, and you invited me here for dinner and a talk. The talk lasted an hour, perhaps, but I don't think the talk was your primary intention."
"I'd been talking to you for months by that point," Sunset reminded her with a grin. "It was time for action."
"If by 'action' you mean that drink you gave me, yes," Rarity answered back. "And lots of honeyed words about how I was clearly in too deep with my work and responsibilities, and that we could help each other. I didn't believe you, but when I went home that night, everything felt different. I couldn't sleep, and my desire was absolutely through the roof. Finally getting up from the bed, the amber girl stepped over to Rarity and lifted her up, her touch gentle but her direction firm. Behind the woman, Sunset sank onto her knees, ducking down and disappearing behind the tailor, obscuring her action from view. Rarity's speech became less coherent and structured the more the minutes dragged on. None of them were keeping track of the time, each of them far too preoccupied with the bawdy encounter to process anything else. The reward dangled in front of her, so close she could figuratively reach out and grasp it. It would be so easy - beyond easy, even. All she needed to do was to shed her responsibility, give up the obligations she had to Equestria. At this point, those things felt like burdens, pressing down on her with a cold, unshakable weight, the sisyphean responsibilities sapping her of spirit and strength. Why would she want to hold onto them? She'd seen what Sunset could offer, as well as a testimony from the girl's first convertee. There seemed to be no reason to refuse. Taking a deep breath, she centered her gaze onto the cyan eyes above her.
"I can't," she answered mournfully. "I can't just leave my friends like this. I owe it to them to return to Equestria, if nothing else." To her surprise, Sunset's smile widened.
"Not quite there just yet," she noted, trailing fingertips over Twilight's belly. "Good. I prefer a challenge. It makes the reward so much more fulfilling."
