Chapters For millennia there was a mysterious continent with many names; The Unknown, The Demon Realm, or as the natives call it Tara-iam, which not only is a mixture of the Romanian and Latin translations for homeland but the natives also speak a dialect that is a mixture of Latin and Romanian.
From the outside Tara-iam appears to be covered in a wall of thick fog that somehow manages to always obscure the continent, even from satellites and planes flying above the clouds; however, any forced attempts by the outside to map out/research Tara-iam have ended in failure due to all boats and planes appearing an hour later from a random side of the continent. Another item to note about Tara-iam is that it is mysteriously visible and accessible from every ocean on Earth; despite its appearance of being as big as Australia, Tara-iam seems to be as large as Pangea.
The fog appears to only be visible from the outside, with both the natives and those who managed to enter Tara-iam describe that there is no fog, suggesting that it's a one-way feature.
As for the natives they call themselves Daemoniums which is Latin for demons, though only one of the many races on Tara-iam actually fit the description of what is considered a ‘demon’ and that race which prefers to go by the alternative name, Vampire. However, the Vampire race seems to be divided into two different sub-races, those who feed on one’s magic, aka Magic Vampires and those who feed on blood, aka Blood Vampires.
Each of the Vampire races had a prominent clan that ruled over half of the continent, the Bloodcrests and the Arcanos; both clans were once at war until a peace treaty was established when the prince of the Arcanos clan, princess of the Bloodcrest clan fell in love, got married and nine months later had a son who was the first ever Blood and Magic vampire hybrid which he was named Hades Bloodcrest.
Despite this there was still civil unrest between the two nations that resulted in a civil war against the Bloodcrest which reached its peak when Hades was only two weeks old; an army of soldiers and civilians stormed the Bloodcrest castle and managed to slaughter most of the clan, including the servants. However, there were only three survivors, Smokey Raptor aka the captain of the royal guard, Lilith the princess of the Bloodcrest clan and her son, Hades Bloodcrest.
Smokey Raptor is currently a thirty-two year old Were-eagle with jet-black hair, crimson-eyes, and light-gray skin; he was currently wearing a reddish-brown robe that had two silver pieces of armor on his shoulders, blue-gray pants, spruce-brown colored boots, charcoal-black colored gloves and a sword in its sheath.
Lilith Bloodcrest is a thousand year old Blood Vampire with hair that was mostly ash-gray except for a patch that was blood-red which was one of the signatures of a Bloodcrest, fuscia-pink eyes, four solid white fangs and lavender skin; the only thing Lilith had on was a snow-white and cherry-red nightgown due to the rebels storming her father's castle in the middle of the night.
“Milady, they're catching up to us, what are we going to do?” Smokey asked as he and Princess Lilith, who was carrying Hades in her arms, were chased through a forest by a stray group of the rebels but stopped because they had reached the ledge of a cliff.
Looking back at the mob who were quickly approaching, the canyon and Smokey, Lilith made a quick decision. “Here, take Hades and get him somewhere far away from Tara-iam!” Lilith commanded as she handed Smokey her son.
“Wh-what about you?” Smokey questioned as he took the infant.
“I’m too weak to fly or fight back...so I’m gonna jump off this clip and make it appear that I took Hades with me” Lilith explained before creating a blood doll in the shape of Hades. “Now go!”
“O-okay…” Smokey replied before transforming into a giant jet-black colored eagle and flying away with Hades.
“There she is!” One of the rebels shouted when they spotted Lilith.
“I love you and stay safe my little Hades… ” Lilith thought before falling backwards off the cliff with the fake Hades in her arms and plummeting to her demise.
“What about Smokey?” One of the rebels asked as he pointed at the large bird flying away.
“Forget about him, he was wise to abandon the princess and her child” The leader of the rebels replied.
“I’m sorry my king, I failed to protect your daughter” Smokey thought when five minutes later he had flown past Tara-iam and emerged past the continent’s fog.
Within the next couple of minutes Smokey spotted a human city, flew down to what looked like a yard of a house, landed before placing Hades on the door mat, knocked and hid out of sight so he could make sure there was someone home.
The maid of a wealthy family found Hades and brought him inside to which a human mother by the name of Savvy Eve called the authorities who took Hades to the hospital before questioning Savvy, her husband Express Writer, their maid and butler. While this was happening Smokey flew away while hoping that the people who found Hades would take good care of him.
Savvy Eve was currently a twenty-nine year old woman on paid maternity leave from her job as a CEO of a major law firm; she has butter-yellow hair, cherry-red eyes and pastel-blue skin. Express Writer was currently a stay at home husband who is a twenty-seven year old man with mint-green hair, silver eyes and eggshell-white skin.
The family who found Hades already has a newborn daughter named Star Cake who was a week younger than Hades; She has butter-yellow hair, silver eyes and seafoam-blue skin.
As those who were present were questioned, Hades was checked out for any injuries by a doctor and the family was informed that after the discovery of one solid fang, one transparent fang and DNA testing that he was in fact a Blood and Magic Vampire.
After an extensive search by the authorities the family was asked to temporarily foster Hades until either his parents were found or until someone adopts him; however neither of them happened so Savvy and her husband decided to adopt Hades.
A while after Hades was adopted, his new family hired a groundskeeper who was named Smokey Raptor but, unknown to them he was there to ensure the safety of Hades for the foreseeable future.
Chapter 1: Hades' Morning
Fifteen years after what is known as the Bloodcrest Incident...
“Hades, Star, it’s time for breakfast!” A now forty-four year old Savvy Eve called from the bottom of the steps of a staircase.
Being that it was her day off, Savvy was dressed in comfy looking clothing that consisted of an eggshell-white decaled shirt, stone-gray sweatpants, turquoise-colored slippers and was wearing her hair in a bun; her husband Express Print, on the other hand was in a teal-blue polo, coal-black pants and pure stone-gray slippers.
Soon, two fifteen year olds by the name of Star Cake, Hades Hades emerged from their bedrooms and proceeded to walk down the stairs.
Star Cake currently has long messy butter-yellow hair; she was wearing bubblegum-colored pjs with small snow-white clouds on both the top, bottom and eggshell-white bunny slippers.
Her adopted brother Hades, on the other hand has shoulder length cloud-gray hair that was covering his right eye along with a patch of berry-red hair on the left side of his head that had turned a paler hue ever since he decided to stop drinking blood/consuming magic altogether which has resulted in him becoming malnourished, he eyes are magenta colored with vertically slitted pupils, two transparent blue fangs on the right side of his mouth with two solid white fangs on the other side, he also has cider-colored skin that was starting to sag due to the lack of nourishment; he was wearing a coal-colored tank top and sapphire-blue colored plaid sweatpants.
“Morning sleepy heads, your dad is dishing up breakfast” Savvy explained.
“Morning mom” Star and Hades replied in unison.
“We’re having french toast, scrambled eggs and bacon” Savvy exclaimed while Star and Hades sat down at the mahogany kitchen table.
“Okay” Star replied while Hades merely grumbled as he struggled to stay awake.
“How’d you two sleep?” A now 42 year old Express asked as he placed two plates down in front of Hades and Star while Savvy was pouring drinks for everyone.
“Good I guess” Hades replied while Express placed the final two plates on the table.
“What he said,” Star added.
“Dig in!” Express replied once the drinks were out and everyone had sat down.
The clinking of silverware against plates and the sound of chewing was all there was for about half way through the meal when Savvy broke the silence “Now what are you two gonna do when you’re at Canterlot Prep?” Savvy questioned.
“Don't throw hands when someone tries to bully Hades,” Star replied after sighing whilst thinking. “Even though those assholes deserved it… ”
“Don’t break someone’s arm when they try to hit Star with a chair,” Hades added after also sighing.
“Good, now finish your breakfast,” Savvy responded. “We were barely able to escape getting sued by their parents”
“Yes mom” Both Hades, Star replied before the silence reappeared and remained for the rest of the meal.
Once everyone had finished their meal Savvy with some help from Express took the plates and placed them in the sink for their butler to wash.
“Now go get ready for school and please try to stay out of trouble” Express exclaimed with a sigh.
“Yes dad” The two siblings replied before heading to their rooms.
“I had Silver Fox place your new uniforms on your beds, also he will be the one driving you to school today.” Savvy added to her husband’s directions.
Star and Hades merely nodded in acknowledgement before heading up to their rooms.
Several minutes passed before the two siblings emerged from their bedrooms. Hades’ had kept his hair the way it was since he woke up, he was wearing a shadow-gray hoodie over an alabaster-white button up shirt, khaki-brown pants, leather-black loafers and was carrying a soot-black school bag; Star, on the other hand had combed her hair which was now a bit wavy, she was wearing a tan-colored vest that had a small dandelion-yellow colored alicorn on the top right above the a pocket, an alabaster-white button up shirt underneath the vest, oxford-blue colored skirt, eggshell-white socks, pecan-brown loafers and was carrying a pastel-pink school bag.
“You’re not gonna wear the jacket?” Savvy asked her son when they reached the bottom of the stairs.
“Nah, I’m good,” Hades replied.
“Okay, you two got your student IDs and your wallets?” Savvy questioned.
“Yes mom” the two replied.
“Okay good, you two have a great day!” Savvy exclaimed after hugging Star and Hades before leaving.
“And try not to get into any more fights!” Express added from the den.
“Okay dad” Hades and star replied in unison as they walked out the door.
Hades and Star were greeted by their family’s butler who was standing in front of a midnight-blue SUV, Silver Fox, a hundred year old elf with silver hair, emerald-green eyes and banana-yellow skin; he was wearing an ink-black vest over a snow-white button up dress shirt, an ink-black bowtie, snow-white gloves, pewter-gray dress pants and ink-black loafers.
“Good morning young master Hades and young miss Star” Silver Fox exclaimed as he bowed before opening a car door for them.
“Mornin” The two replied before lazily climbing into the car.
Once Hades and Star were in, Silver Fox closed the door, got into the driver’s seat and drove to Canterlot Prep.
It was a quite five minute drive from the Eve residence to the private school mainly because Hades and Star were struggling to stay awake.
Once they arrived and had stepped out of the car, the pair immediately became the center of attention due to rumors of Hades spreading before the two of them started their first day; most of the looks were of shock and fear, while others were of disgust due to the rumors being true.
Star gave a quick but concerned glance to her brother while Hades simply sighed, took out his student ID and showed it to one of the security guards who, after a pause allowed him entry to the fenced off campus, Star did the same but was let in faster than Hades was.
In the quartyard was a large golden alicorn standing in the middle of a fountain, some benches, outdoor lunch tables, trees of both types, there was three main buildings of the school, the one in the middle which was the largest looked like a brand new victorian styled castle, the other two buildings were smaller than the main building but were also victorian styled, but equally as brand new looking as the main building; however, the pair knew from a tour that was given to them on the day of their registry that the building on the right was the gym/indoor pool while the building on the left was for classes that dealt with magic use, potion creation, classes for non humans (some of which Hades would be attending due to his lack of knowledge on his own abilities,) and anything that may end up endangering the rest of the school.
As Hades and Star were traveling to the main building for homeroom the pair heard a girl shout “Excuse me!” to which the pair turned to look at where they heard the sound, only to see someone sprinting towards them at an incredibly high speed, leaving a trail of dust behind her.
“Oh crap!” Hades and Star shouted; however, before the two were about to duck out of the way the person who they now noticed was a human girl had stopped dead in their tracks from about a foot away from them.
“HELLOMYNAMEISPINKIEPINENICETOMEETYOUPLEASECOMEWITHME” The girl tried to explain in a single breath.
“Um, what?” Hades and Star replied after looking at each other in confusion.
“Heh sorry out of breath, you know?” The girl apologies before introducing herself. “Hello, my name is Pinkie Pie. It’s a pleasure to meet you but please, do come with me!”
“Hold on, why does he need to go with you?” Star questioned before Hades had a chance to say anything.
“Well you see I was told to escort Hades to the student council office, but why that would be my job, I don’t know!” Pinkie Pie explained while shrugging. “Oh and don’t worry about missing Homeroom or any of your classes, your teachers were explained the situation”
“Fine but I’m coming with him!” Star replied.
“Okie dokie lokie” Pinkie Pie responded. “Follow me!”
“Uh okay?” Was the only thing Hades said before quietly following Pinkie Pie who was doing a bouncy walk towards the main building and behind Hades was Star who admittedly had an annoyed face.
“Princess Celestia originally asked Flutershy, who is a friend of mine, to escort you, but she was too scared so I am doing it in her place!” Pinkie Pie shared as the trio entered the main building. “Also I like meeting new people!”
“You should have mentioned Princess Celestia asking for him sooner!” Star muttered to no one in particular.
The walk to the student council office was pretty dull, aside from the glances that Hades gathered.
Once the trio arrived then entered the student council office Hades saw that there were two High Elves, one who was noticeably taller than the other, two regular elves, another human and two Were-avians, one of which was hiding behind the other; he had also noticed that six of them were wearing student uniforms while the tallest High Elf was wearing a pastel-pink sundress with a soft-gold colored strap across the middle of the dress, a golden-tiara and soft-gold colored heels who must of been none other than Princess Celestia. Pinkie Pie then closed the office’s door and bounced towards the rest of the students.
“Hello Hades, it is so nice to meet you!” Princess Celestia exclaimed along with a warm smile.
Chapter 2: The student Council
“P-Princess Celestia a-and Princess Twilight?I-it’s an h-honor!” Hades and Star exclaimed before bowing.
“Raise your heads you two” Princess Celestia chuckled before her expression lowered. “Besides, I have a reason for calling Hades here”
“A-and what would that be?” Hades hesitantly asked.
“Well once word had gotten out that you were gonna start attending Canterlot Prep, the school board called a meeting that included me and well…” Princess Celestia replied before starting to explain the situation.
“Princess Celestia, with all respect. Why are you letting these dangerous ‘Demi-humans’ like vampires join your schools, especially that one duo vampire?” A board member exclaimed.
“I agree with Chancellor Neighsay, I don’t want those ‘things’ anywhere near my daughter!” Another board member added.
“I hear what you’re saying Chancellor Neighsay and Spoiled Rich, but they have just as much of a right to an education as the rest of us, besides they haven’t done anything bad yet” Princess Celestia replied. “Even if they did do something bad, evercreature deserves a second chance”
“That maybe but that one vampire, Handies or whatever his name is, broke another student’s arm at his previous school. Is that really someone you want attending your school?” Chancellor Neighsay retorted in anger.
“If we may interject here, that kid’s name is Hades and what he did was in defense of his sister who was also defending her brother, while he shouldn’t have broken that kid’s arm we probably would've done the same thing. Another board member by the name of Princess Luna responded.
The one board member who had been quiet through the entire discussion, Filthy Rich had finally spoken up, not with a statement but with a proposition. “What if instead of kicking Hades out, how about we have him join the student council so they can monitor him?”
“Honey, what brought that on?” Spoiled Rich asked her husband.
“Well years ago his mother, Savvy Eve, had helped me out in a legal case and when I met her she had both her daughter and Hades with her. And even though I haven’t seen her kids in years, the last time I saw him, Hades seemed like a good kid” Filthy Rich explained.
“I-I guess that’s fine” Chancellor Neighsay mumbled in reluctant agreement.
Spoiled Rich also reluctantly agreed to the proposition. “But if anything happens to Diamond Tiara it will be on you!”
With that the meeting was dismissed.
“So you see, the school board has put me in a tough position. Either a, kick you out, or b, have you join the student council to ‘ensure the safety of the other students’ and all that nonsense” Princess Celestia explained before sighing.
“Well if that’s the case then I guess I have no choice but to join” Hades replied after a pause.
“E-excuse me princess, b-but if m-may I also join the student council as well?” Star asked.
“I don’t see why not, is that okay with you Twilight?” Princess Celestia asked the student council president.
“Yea I don’t mind but, may we have a bigger room please? It’s getting kinda cramped in here” Twilight replied.
“Sure thing I’ll have it ready by lunch, so come by my office during break and I’ll show you to the new office, I’ll also have her announce the location around the third-fourth class” Princess Celestia explained. “Now head to class, all of you!”
“Yes HeadMistress” The nine students replied before heading out of the room and to their classes which had yet to start. “I’m glad that went over well but Hades didn’t look like anything I imagined him to look like, but I can’t help but be reminded of King Lucifer Bloodcrest and his daughter ”
“How are you holding up?” Star asked her brother as they walked to their homeroom.
“What do you mean?” Hades asked in response.
“Well I know you didn't want to stand out or join anything like that” Star replied.
“Oh, yea I guess I’m doing okay” Hades meekly replied.
“O-okay,” Star responded whilst thinking. “I hate it when he doesn’t tell me anything ”
After a quiet walk the two reached their homeroom class but were told by the teacher to wait outside until the second bell rang.
“Okay, you two can come in!” The homeroom teacher told the siblings. “You can sit in any of the available seats.
“Alright” Hades and Star replied before spotting two open seats in the back and sitting down.
After that needed to be done during homeroom, the bell rang and a teacher exchanged places with the homeroom teacher.
Once the first set of classes were over Twilight approached the main office causing the school secretary to look up from what she was doing.
“Ah, Miss Twilight, Princess Celestia can see you now!” The school secretary explained before gesturing for the young lady to go on in.
“Okay thank you Ms Inkwell!” Twilight replied before entering the main office and knocking on Princess Celestia’s door.
“Come in!” Princess Celestia called from the other side of the door.
“Hello Headmistress, I’m ready!” Twilight exclaimed after entering the office.
“Okay” Princess Celestia replied. “I went over the layout of the three buildings but unfortunately none of the unoccupied rooms seemed big enough…” She trailed off.
“Oh. I see,” Twilight responded, feeling her heart drop.
“But don’t worry I figured out a solution. You see, there’s an old building at the top right corner of the campus that is surrounded by trees. It was an old faculty building but became abandoned about a hundred years ago, give or take” Princess Celestia started to explain before handing Twilight a set of keys. “Now it’s yours to use as the new student council building. But before it can be opened, place this sticker rune on the front door and it’ll renovate/refurbish the building!”
“Okay thank you, but weren’t you gonna show me the building?” Twilight questioned.
“Well you see, I may or may not have underestimated the amount of paperwork I have. Sorry” Princess Celestia apologised. “But if you need anything else don’t hesitate to ask, just let it be within reason of coarse”
“O-oh no it’s okay!” Twilight replied before accepting taking the rune and waving at Princess Celestia as she left.
“You can come out now” Princess Celestia exclaimed after a deep sigh.
“Ah heck, I guess I’m losing my touch” Smokey replied with a chuckle as his invisibility spell faded. “Long time no see.”
“Yea it has been a long time, but can I ask you something?”
“Sure, what is it?” Smokey replied after sitting in one of the leather chairs that stood in front of the Princess’ desk.
“You’ve watched over Hades for his entire life right, then surely you must know why he looks the way he does?” Princess Celestia asked with a bit of concern in her voice.
“Oh, well that can be traced back to an incident in both his and Star’s childhood” Smokey explained.
“R-really, what happened?” Princess Celestia pressed.
“Well when Hades and Star were both five years old and were being babysat by their nanny...” Smokey started to explain.
“Alright you two, I need to get something from my car so I'll be back in seven!” The sibling’s nanny explained.
“Okay” Hades and Star replied while not taking their eyes off of the TV that was currently showing cartoons.
This would prove to be nearly fatal to Star because while the two of them were watching cartoons, Hades’ stomach made a monotone growl, signalling that he was thirsty.
“A-a-are you hungry?” Star asked after turning to look at Hades.
“Yea” Hades replied.
“Okay, here” Star exclaimed after rolling up her sleeve and displaying her arm in front of him.
Reluctantly Hades bit into his sister’s arm and started drinking; it hurt at first but the sedatives, painkillers, blood thinners that Blood Vampires naturally produce in their saliva started kicking in and soon Star was out cold.
However, Hades being a five year old vampire at the time meant that he couldn’t control the amount of blood, magiche consumed, coupled the chemicals in his saliva, the amount of blood she was losing and Hades being distracted by the cartoon on TV would have been the end of Star’s life if their nanny had not returned in time.
“What the fuck are you doing?!” The nanny screamed before smacking Hades off his sister’s arm, she began dialing the emergency services and then called the two’s parents. “You damn monster!”
Emergency services were the first to arrive and explained that Star needed to go to the emergency room right away because she was missing 30-40% of her blood, she had also lost a little over half of her magic.
When Savvy and Express arrived they were admittedly mad at Hades but were furious at the nanny. “What the fuck is wrong with you? Leaving two five year olds alone, you are fucking fired!” Savvy screamed while Express went to check on his daughter.
“How is she?” Express questioned as two paramedics loaded Star onto a stretcher.
“She’s lost a lot of blood and magic, if we don’t get her to a hospital now she’ll lose her life!” One of the EMTs explained as they loaded Star into the ambulance. “One of you can ride in the ambulance”
“I’ll ride, you go check on Hades!” Savvy exclaimed before climbing into the ambulance.
Hades, for the most part had been crying since he was smacked off his sister; however, the combination of being smacked, being screamed at and the fact he accidently hurt his sister made him sob as his dad embraced him in an attempt to calm him down.
“Shh it’s not your fault” Express exclaimed as he embraced his son. “You didn’t mean to”
“D-daddy I’m sorry!” Hades replied as his tears still flowed.
“Despite his parents and Star forgiving him, the whole ordeal traumatized Hades which in turn made him no longer want to drink blood or consume magic out of fear he would harm someone again” Smokey finished. “Ten years later and he still hasn’t touched a single drop of blood or magic, not even from animals.”
“S-so he’s malnourished? Didn’t his parents get him therapy later?” Princess Celestia questioned.
“They did but Hades refused to interact with them,” Smokey explained.
“But that means if this goes on any longer he might end up a mummified husk! Especially if he suffers any major wounds” Princess Celestia exclaimed.
“I know, but whatever his parents try to get him some help Hades’ always manages to dodge it, heck he’s even able to tell if they hide blood in his food!” Smokey explained.
“But why doesn’t he just take vitamin supplements?” Princess Celestia suggested.
“I’m afraid it’s not that simple, cause you see vampires, whether they feed on blood or magic, get ninety-nine percent of their nutrients from sentient creatures like you and me. Not so sentient creatures like cows, pigs, etc only provide about half of the nutrients they need, vitamin supplements don’t provide any nutrients that a vampire needs at all!” Smokey explained.
“So the only way to save his life is to convince him to consume blood and magic again?” Princess Celestia questioned.
“I’m afraid yes, unless something were to happen which forces Hades to consume then he’ll probably shrivel up to the point of no return” Smokey replied with a grimace.
“I-I see, well u-um I have to get b-back to work” Princess Celestia exclaimed.
“Yea same, see you later Princess” Smokey replied before transforming into an eagle and flying out the window.
Princess Celestia simply sighed and hoped that being part of the student council would convince him to consume again.
Meanwhile Twilight was heading to what would be the new student council office when she spotted the two new members. “Hey, what are you two up to?” She asked.
“Just wandering around, what about you?” Star replied.
“About to head to the new student council building, wanna join?” Twilight offered.
“Sure,” Star replied while Hades shrugged. “Wait did you say building?”
“Yep, apparently it was the only thing on campus that was big enough!” Twilight explained. “It also used to be a faculty only building but it became abandoned”
“That seems a bit dangerous don’t you think?” Hades questioned. “Having students enter and use an abandoned building, besides it could be haunted”
“Nah if it was haunted then Headmistress Celestia would have told me. Besides, she gave me a rune that’ll renovate the building!” Twilight explained.
“Okay” Hades replied as the trio left the main building and headed towards the old building.
Once there Twilight stuck the rune to what she assumed was the front door and watched it light up before the entire building was completely engulfed in a sky-blue light that soon faded, revealing a newly renovated building that matched the rest of the school.
“We probably don't have enough time to explore so let’s leave that for lunch” Twilight suggested.
“Good idea!” Star replied.
“Um Princess Twilight, what roles does everyone have on the student council?” Hades asked.
“Well I’m the president, Sunset Shimmer the orange skinned elf is the vice president, Fluttershy the were-dove is the secretary, Pinkie Pie the human who escorted you to the student council office is the rally commissioner, Rarity the other elf manages publicity, Applejack the second human is the treasurer, and Rainbow Dash the were-eagle manages the sports teams as well as being the captain of all of them!” Twilight explained.
“What about Hades and I?” Star questioned.
“Hm, you two can lead the student security crew!” Twilight suggested. “But try not to abuse the position like the last one did, once he was caught he got expelled”
“Okay I guess we can do that, right Hades?” Star replied.
“Whatever, I’ll see you in class” Hades replied before heading to their classroom.
“What’s up with him?” Twilight asked with a concerned tone in her voice.
“He’s a bit of a loner and really didn’t want to be a part of any clubs, teams or anything like that” Star replied after sighing.
“Really, how come?” Twilight questioned.
“Eh it’s a long story,” Star replied. “I’ll tell you later but for now, see you at lunch!”
