Oh dear, what am I doing here?

Through a long swirling tube, Rarity had finally reached through the end of it and found herself standing on a sand-structured ground. She looked around at her surroundings to discover that she was adjoined by rocks.

''Rocks?'' said Rarity, wiping dust off her fur. ''What am I doing here? This looks like a place Maud would be at!''

There was a loud hustle as the wind had swiftly passed her. Rarity shivered, turning around to see what that awful noise was but shook it off. She trotted through all of the rocks to discover a massive hunk. Rarity's eyes widened at the size of the huge boulder. She looked back to when she was a filly and found a massive rock just like this and inside of it were gems.

Rarity didn't even hesitate to run towards the ferocious massive hunk of rock. Rarity tried hugging it and wished for her friends Maud and Spike to be here and crack open the rock.

A few seconds later, her wish came true. A crack was formed on the massive rock and had gotten spilt in half. Rarity backed away as it collapsed on the ground. She gasped, finding a grey earth pony with purple mane and teal eyes standing behind the spilt-in-half rock.

''Maud?'' said Rarity, raising an eyebrow in confusion. ''What are you doing here?''

''The better question might be,'' Maud bluntly corrected, ''what are you doing here?''

''Me?'' Rarity muttered. ''I just got randomly teleported here by a mysterious mirror your sister had given me-''

She was suddenly interrupted by Maud. ''What was that?''

''A mirror your sister had-''

''Stop.''

Rarity raised an eyebrow as Maud pondered to herself.

''I came to this place from a mirror too.''

''You did?'' Rarity uttered, widening her eyes. ''Then how do we find a way out of here?''

Maud blinked. ''I don't know and that is a first coming from me.''

Rolling her eyes, Rarity trotted towards the diamonds of the spilt-in-half rock. Her eyes stargazed in excitement once she dug herself into the pile of gems. Maud's eyes were looking at Rarity making a leap into the gems.

Rarity cheerfully pranced as Maud just blinked very carefully and sternly. What has she gotten herself into?

Maud was getting bored looking at Rarity playing around with her new gems so she decided to discover more rocks just like she was doing precisely five minutes ago.

As Maud trotted through big piles of rocks, she had found a large creepy and dark cave but that didn't stop her from going inside. She didn't even hesitate or flinch as she trotted inside of the cave. She pulled out a green gem from her cloak and flashed it on the cave walls so she could see in the dark.

She squinted her eyes carefully as the gem was not that bright. She could see words written all over the walls.

''Stay away from the astray or you'll get bray,'' she read. ''What?''

She continued going further and deeper into the cave, still hearing Rarity cheering from outside.

''Yipee!'' Rarity exclaimed. ''Oh, I wish I had my sketchpad.'' She pouted, having her belly rumble due to starvation since she hadn't eaten all day. ''Oh well, it's time for lunch!'' Her excitement dimmed down once she realized she wasn't at home but at a place full of rocks only. She looked at one of the gems. ''Maybe I should act like Spike for survival?''

Rarity levitated a ruby in front of her and merely stuck out her tongue to lick the ruby but she backed her tongue away. She shook her head. ''No! I am a poise pony, not a filthy dragon!''

Rarity's spine shuddered as a mini shoulder devil version of Rarity materialized on top of her shoulder with red devil horns and a pitchfork. ''What are you doing? Go on! Eat the diamond for survival!''

Rarity huffed. ''I would never act such a dragon in my entire life!''

''Not even for survival?''

A mini shoulder angel version of Rarity materialized on top of the other side of her shoulder with a halo hovering above her head and holding a harp. ''I should be against this fiend but I agree with him. If you want to survive, eat the gem.''

The mini shoulder devil version of Rarity was taken aback by this and placed a hoof to her chest to seem offended. ''Who are you calling a fiend?!''

The two mini shoulder versions of Rarity scowled at each other until Rarity shoved them all off of her shoulders and they eventually evaporated into thin air. Rarity was now back to her gem.

She was about to stick out her tongue again until something occurred to her: Maud.

''Where did that pony run off to?'' Rarity mumbled to herself out loud. More like where did she run off to. She scattered around the place to discover a blunt grey pony with purple mane and teal eyes but unfortunately, her quest onto finding her friend had failed miserably. Eventually, she gave up with a sigh of exasperation.

She levitated the ruby near her mouth again and finally laid her tongue on top. Once it had made a connection, her eyes widened and started slurping on the gem. She couldn't admit this out loud but she actually enjoys licking gems now. Unfortunately, her time licking on the ruby was diminished as a grey pony approached her.

Rarity froze, throwing the ruby behind her, and sat down elegantly. ''We shall never speak of this again.''

''Wouldn't dream of it,'' Maud said monotonously.

Rarity stared at her blankly to make sure there wasn't any trickery with her but shrugged it off since she is a pony of her word. She stood back up from the ground and dusted herself off.

''So,'' said Rarity, ''what are we eating for today, Miss Pie?''

Maud blinked. ''I found some harvesting apples in a mysterious cave. I was hoping if you would like to try them out with me? I'm suggesting Applejack had led you to try her harvesting apples so many times.''

''Oh. Yes,'' Rarity responded. ''She has. So, where is the basket of apples?''

Maud picked up a basket from her back and placed it on the ground. She placed one apple in front of her and handed another apple to the white unicorn.

''Oh, you are such a darling!'' she commented, taking a bite out of the apple. ''Thank you so much.''

''No problem,'' she replied bluntly as she took a bite out of her own apple. They both continued eating their apples until Rarity's eyes were soon laid on the ruby covered in her own drool. She bit her lip, trying to secretly scuff the gem to herself and not let Maud see what she was up to.

Rarity turned around to start slurping on the jewel again, having Maud blink in confusion at what she was doing. Rarity knew she was getting suspicious so quickly swallowed the whole gem. It was hard but other than that she actually enjoyed it which she couldn't admit aloud. So that's why dragons love jewels so much? But she could have sworn she heard Twilight say she had researched about dragons from Dragon Lord Ember saying dragons eat gems because they have hard teeth to bite into them.

Maud was about to open her mouth to say something but got stopped as an erupting roar occurred behind her back. She turned around to see an enormous creature roaring into her face as spit came out of his mouth. Maud didn't flinch but simply just wiped the spit off of her face with her cloak.

Rarity shuddered, pulling Maud to her side and starting running with her. They both started increasing the speed of their running so the horrid beast wouldn't catch them in time. What is that thing? Rarity didn't dare to ask Maud at the moment but once they found a good place to hide from that varmint, she would find the opportunity to ask her.

The grey earth pony led the white unicorn into a cave she was once at and found the apples they were munching on a few minutes ago. Rarity sighed with relief and followed her friend into the cave. The beast was just inches away to enter inside the cave had Maud not move a giant version of Boulder (or shall I say Tom) to cover the entrance.

Rarity and Maud leaned their backs to one another and breathed a sigh of relief. Now, Rarity had gotten the opportunity to finally ask Maud what that was and why he was chasing the two of them. If she didn't know, then how are they ever going to tame it and come back to Equestria? But of course, she will know, she is smart, smarter than Twilight!

''What was that thing?!'' Rarity asked, shuddering in fear.

''I do not know,'' Maud replied with monotone. ''But what I do know is that they were hungry for...apples?''

Rarity blinked. ''What?''

''You heard me,'' said Maud. ''I said apples.''

''So, let me get this straight,'' Rarity muttered. ''We are being chased by a beast because we were eating apples and that is his primary food source?''

Maud nodded meekly. ''Exactly.''

''I don't quite understand, darling. I mean, I was just teleported here by a mirror your sister had given me as an early birthday present apparently and found myself in a world of rocks and found you here.'' She paused. ''Uh, how are you here?''

Maud stared at her blankly. ''I was at a furniture shop to find a new party cannon for my sister when I saw a shining mirror glowing in the daylight of the sun outside of the window of the shop. I touched the mirror since it was looking quite odd to me and unexpectedly, I wound up here.''

Rarity didn't know what to say afterward until she scattered around and found writings written on the walls. She ignited her horn to see clearly in the dark. Since it wasn't enough to see the small writing on the wall, she had to squint her eyes to see. Maud trotted over to also read the message as she only read one.

''I told you that you shouldn't go further into this cave,'' Rarity read, ''and now you are going to be trapped here for all eternity.'' Reading that out loud made Rarity's spine shiver in fright. ''Are we really going to be trapped here for all eternity?'' she asked Maud as she turned towards her curiously and scarcely.

She looked to see that Maud wasn't standing beside her anymore and instead was looking at another wall. She raised an eyebrow, trotting towards her to see what she was looking at. She was looking at a piece of writing on the wall with a blunt facial expression. Rarity squinted her eyes to also read this piece of text.

''Turn left, turn right,'' Rarity read, ''and there you will see your destination you really want to get back to.''

''Is that a promise?'' Rarity asked, looking at Maud sternly. Maud turned around and trotted in the right direction of the cave. With a gulp, Rarity followed her behind curiously.

Maud was trotting through the right direction of the mysterious cave alongside Rarity. They were soon interrupted in between by spiders dangling from the ceiling and into their faces. Rarity let out a big yelp as one spider was crawling on top of her scalp. Maud merely rolled her eyes and shoved the spider off.

Rarity breathed a sigh of relief and turned towards Maud thankfully. They both continued trotting until they were interrupted again by another boobytrap. Looks like this cave is full of surprises. Not much of a Maud thing, but a Pinkie thing.

There was a light flashing in both of their eyes. They closed their eyes tightly and quickly got themselves out of the bright flash. Maud checked if Boulder was doing all right in her pocket, which he was. Meanwhile, Rarity was not sure if she was ever going to get used to these boobytraps, but with Maud on her side, she can get out of here in no time.

She smiled at Maud, hoping for her to return it back but she still had an expressionless face on. Rarity frowned, as she continued trotting alongside with her. This pony is so antisocial, if only she was a lot more like her sister so that way they can actually be close, like her with Starlight Glimmer or Sunburst.

Rarity soon drifted away from her thoughts as Maud motioned her hoof out and prevented the white unicorn from trotting further. Raising an eyebrow on why she did that, she soon realized a river in front of them. Rarity was not a pony to get muddy or wet but if it is for to get back home then she will do whatever it takes!

Fortunately, there was no need since Maud had created a raft made out of sticks and leaves. Rarity had her mouth opened in agape. She couldn't blink or move.

''How did you do that?'' asked Rarity, scratching her head in confusion.

''We are surrounded by leaves and sticks. Mud Briar sometimes often shows me how to create a raft out of sticks.'' Maud paused to think about him as hearts were circulating above her head. ''Isn't he such a great colt?''

Rarity sheepishly tittered as she shoved the flying hearts away. ''I'm sure he is, darling.''

Maud and Rarity both hopped on the raft and started sailing away to the other side of the cave. During the sail, Rarity decided to enthusiast the moment by asking Maud a rather dull question.

''So,'' said Rarity bluntly, ''what's the deal with you and your family being dull all the time? Have you always been like this?''

Maud blinked. ''Yes. I can tell you all about my life story if you are eager to hear about it.'' Rarity leaned against the rail out of boredom. Maud cleared up her throat to start. ''As you probably know, my sister Pinkie Pie is full of joy and happiness. However, her family is more into rocks and...''

She continued on until they both reached the other side of the cave and hopped off. Rarity finally breathed a sigh of relief as they both continued on trotting through the cave again and found themselves a bright light. Rarity's eyes enlarged to their unusual size and increased her trotting to quickly reach the end of the cave.

''Rarity! Wait!'' Maud cried with monotone.

Rarity ignored her until she hit her head to a wall that was flashing white. Flying rocks were circulating around her head until she snapped out of her trance. Maud trotted towards her and shook her head.

''I told you to listen to me,'' said Maud.

Rarity nervously chuckled, still a bit dizzy but shook it off. ''What is this thing? And how do we make it back home?''

Maud tapped her chin, pondering to herself. Her eyes were then laid to a yellow light coming from the other direction of the cave. She blinked, slowly trotting to it alongside Rarity following behind her.

Maud got out Boulder from her pocket and drew him closer to her ear. Rarity raised an eyebrow at this movement.

''Aha! It's over there,'' said Maud. ''Follow me!''

She slowly ran in the left direction, having Rarity follow her with curiosity.

''Seriously,'' Rarity interfered. ''What are you doing?''

''Boulder had told me there is a staff somewhere here that can teleport us back to Equestria,'' she explained, ''and I know exactly which direction to go now.''

''So the mirror hasn't magically teleported here and instead, there's a staff to teleport us out of here?''

''Correct,'' Maud replied. ''Although, I forgot to mention that the search of the staff is going to take us a day.''

Rarity's eye twitched and looked at her faintly. ''What?''

''And we have to face some creatures during our search.''

There was no response coming from the white unicorn as she stopped her trotting. Maud slowly raised an eyebrow and stopped too as she came back to approach her.

''So you are telling me,'' said Rarity, ''we have to stay here for another whole day?!''

''To be precise, if it makes you feel any better, we will only be staying here for another six hours.''

Rarity's eye twitched again but took a deep breath. ''Okay.''

Maud took off her cloak and got out two sticks. Rarity raised an eyebrow but then facehoofed as she grumbled in annoyance and questioned:

''What are you doing now?''

''I am currently making a tent for us to stay for the night. You can sleep under my cloak, whereas I sleep under these leaves. I know how touchy you can get with dirty supplies.''

Rarity felt her heart spin several loops, then she touched her chest, to where her heart was, in flattery. ''My, you're an absolute darling. Thank you so much.''

As Maud got the tents up for both of them, she created friction between two sticks to create a campfire for the cave they will be staying at during the night.

Rarity levitated two logs opposite the campfire so both of them could take a seat and enjoy the warmth of the fireplace.

''I've got to admit now,'' said Rarity, ''spending time with you isn't quite bad after all. You're pretty...sweet.''

Maud blinked. ''I'm flattered. Not many ponies like the bland personality I tend to have.''

Rarity's smile faded away. ''Why, whatever do you mean?'' We could tell that Rarity was being sarcastic by this question and trying to not act rude by agreeing with those ponies she had mentioned.

Maud ignored her as she got out gems from her mane.

''Wait,'' Rarity uttered. ''Your mane is also sentient like your sister?''

Maud nodded. ''It runs in the family.''

''I can see that,'' Rarity murmured. ''Anyway, what are we going to do with them?''

''Half of them will be roasted so we could eat them and the other half will be for you for being a good friend towards me.'' She placed a gem into Rarity's grasp.

Rarity looked upon her with bright eyes. ''Maud...''

She hushed her. ''Let's just enjoy this peaceful night.''

Rarity smiled as they both picked up their sticks and added gems at the end of it to roast towards the fireplace. She can finally admit that this was certainly an opportunity to bond with her friend's sister. Pinkie Pie would be so proud and happy since she had always wanted her friends to get along with her family.
