Cadence sighed as she landed on the end of the PolariSoft runway, and she folded her wings in. Other than brief flights, she didn't leave the complex often, as it was one of the few safe places from Nightmare Moon. The black-furred mare had allowed Polaris to continue his work free from her interference, having some sort of respect for the dark magic user. The only condition had been that she would take one of his friends, Tinker, and Polaris hadn't been able to do much about it.

Though once they finally heard from the brown dragonpony, they learned that Moon wanted him as her... personal servant, and he actually turned down an offer to try smuggling him out of her castle. After all, Moon's bedroom wasn't the worst prison...

At least they had a spy, of sorts. The closer Tinker and Moon got, the more he learned about the Nightmare, and the more he told them. He was leading quite the double life, considering how he'd started to follow Moon around on official business, albeit wearing a collar that she could use to drag him around.

At least the others were helpful enough... Cadence's thoughts were interrupted as she heard a rustle off to one side, and to her surprise, Polaris shook his way out of the bush, tossing leaves off of his back. "Oh, sorry, didn't mean to scare ya..." he said, giving her a grin as she turned to face him.

Lifting a hoof, she said, "What were you doing over there...?" With a confused expression. Something about him was off, but she couldn't tell what. She heard another rustle behind her, but by the time she started to look back, it was too late. Ropes were thrown around the mare, pulled tight before they even settled to tie her up. Some of them bound her legs together, some held down her wings.

Right when she started to yell "Hey!", a black creature jumped in front of her, shoving her snout into a muzzle and jamming an enchanted ring down onto her horn. Cadence growled at the creature, and her eyes widened as she realized she was looking at a Changeling.

Her voice was squeakier as she tried to cast some sort of spell, but naturally, the ring simply nullified it. Before her eyes, Polaris was consumed by green fire to reveal another one of the bugs, and Cadence growled at him as well before one of the creatures lit up their horn, sending her to sleep with a spell.

With a groan, Cadence slowly opened her eyes, squinting in the darkness before opening them the rest of the way. Right away, she could tell she was in a changeling hive. The room was organic, walls curving together with the floor in a way that probably made for the nightmares of carpenders. She was alone, for now. Not only that, she was laid on a bed... well, a goo bed. She scrunched her snout up as she lifted a hoof, looking at the green fluid that dribbled off, but she sighed as she laid her head back down anyway. No point avoiding it if she'd already been sleeping in it.

She reached to her neck, frowning as she felt the collar that had been put on her. She tried to access her magic, and still, the inhibitor was fused to her horn. She growled as she grabbed it with a hoof and pushed, but it refused to budge. So she stayed, glaring at the doorway angrily as she tried to think of what the changelings wanted from her.

Probably love, considering who she was... there used to be a network of guards to protect her from this kind of thing, but Moon had ever-so-helpfully decomissioned all of the "useless" guardsponies, assimilating them into her own army. Before her thoughts could keep sinking into how much her life had been upended, someone walked in the doorway, stopping halfway in.

Cadence refocused her gaze on the intruder, and it took a moment for her to realize that she was looking at Queen Chrysalis. The changeling seemed a little surprised by the pink mare's gaze, but she recovered and strode into the room as Cadence's eyes widened.

"Yes, it was I who ordered for your capture, Princess Cadence..." She purred, in the odd-sounding queenly voice of hers. "Normally, I would be kidnapping you for the sake of demanding your love to feed my children, but..." She said, taking a deep breath, "I... I need your help" She finished, frowning down at Cadence.

"You... you what?" the princess asked, giving the changeling an incredulous look as she sat up on the bed.

Chrysalis growled, stamping a hoof on the floor, then she said, "Haven't you seen what your relative has done to me? To us?" She hissed. "There was NO warning! She marched right up to the hive with half of her army, and she... and we couldn't do anything about it" Chrysalis hissed, starting to pace back and forth in front of the bed. "That... that witch, she said she wants to exterminate us, well I want to exterminate HER!" Chrysalis roared, spinning to glare down at Cadence.

When the pink mare yelped and scooted away from her on the bed, Chrysalis touched a hoof to her chest, closed her eyes, then she took a deep breath, letting it back out as a long, soft hiss. When she spoke, her voice was softer as she said "I'm sorry, I... we're not in my hive, we are in the everfree forest, I managed to escape with my personal guard and we've dug ourselves underground here to hide from that... that monster" she hissed, unable to stop a shred of rage from slipping back into her voice.

It was a minute or two before Cadence finally talked. The mare's ears slowly lowered as she quietly said "She... she went after your entire hive...?" in a quiet voice. At first, Chrysalis growled as she looked back at the pink mare, but she realized as she saw her expression that she wasn't making fun of her.

The weight of Chrysalis' worries sagged on her as she sat down in front of the bed, and she nodded as she quietly said "Yes, and as a queen, you can feel each and every drone as they die, their spirits wiped from the hive as if they'd never been part of it..." she hissed, body tensing up as she shook a little.

"They... they got into the nursery, and... E-Even the hatchlings..." She said, straining more and more to retain her composure until she suddenly stood up. Cadence could spot the tears escaping from Chrysalis's eyes as she turned around, and Cadence said "W-Wait!"

"I'll be back later" Chrysalis said, voice shaking as she began to walk for the door. To her surprise, Cadence leaped off of the edge of the bed, landing on her back. She bristled at the contact, but then she sensed the pink mare's emotions.

With her so close, she could feel everything. Cadence wrapped her front legs around Chrysalis' neck, hugging her tight, and the Queen froze in place. She felt pity, which would have angered her if the pity wasn't overwhelmed by a bitter sadness, and Love.

Perhaps it was simply because Cadence was the princess of Love, but it really felt like this love was directed at the Queen. She stumbled a little, saying, "I...", but her emotions won over her as she collapsed to the floor, burying her snout in her hooves as the stress and sadness and rage boiled over into hot tears.

Somehow, this pink Alicorn trusted her enough to leap on her back, just to give her a hug. Any other time, that would likely get a pony killed, or at least sealed up in a cocoon for a while. And she sympathized with the Queen. Cadence's sadness was nothing compared to the deep pit of loss hanging heavy within Chrysalis, and the pit was boiling over as the Queen sobbed against the cool floor of the makeshift little hive.

Chrysalis actually lost track of how long she laid there, crying her heart out to the empty room and the pink mare on her back. At some point, she stopped shaking, and she simply laid there, eyes closed as the tears silently ran down her cheeks. She didn't even react as she felt Cadence stand up overtop of her, and she made nothing but a quiet grunt as the pink mare seemingly left.

She felt air on her nose, then she felt something touch her snout, and she frowned as she opened her eyes. To her surprise, she looked right into the eyes of the pink princess, who had clearly been crying as well, perhaps as long as she herself had been. "W-What do you..." Chrysalis croaked weakly, before Cadence silenced her with a nuzzle.

She nuzzled her, as if she was her friend! She just reached out with her snout and rubbed it against Chrysalis', showing affection to her... her, an imposing changeling Queen. Cadence slowly smiled a little, and her voice was soft as she said "I... Chryssi, I want to help".

Chrysalis' own eyes opened wide, since she had fully expected to have to undergo the painful process of forcing a pony to love her and her changelings. "W-Why..." She managed to come up with, lifting her head somewhat.

The mare nuzzled her again, sending shivers through Chrysalis as she felt the glimmer of love. "I... I've never wanted to see the end of your kind, in fact, I've wanted to meet you, I've always been so... so fascinated by a creature who feeds on love, and I'm the Princess of love!" She said with a smile. She was excited, deep down, because it seemed some of her own thoughts about changelings might just be true.

But Chrysalis frowned. It sounded... way too good to be true. She sighed, then she said, "Oh, I'm sure you have... let me guess, you also happen to have some sort of secret weapon to use against the nightmare? And I've also won a milion bits in the proce-"

Chrysalis didn't get to finish her sentence. Cadence, determined to show the Queen that she did want to help... she kissed her. Thick, hot love bloomed inside of Chrysalis as their lips met, then pressed together, the Queen shuddering as she felt the substance washing away her hunger.

Chrysalis wasn't able to stop herself as she pressed into the kiss, wings briefly buzzing behind her as if they could help her get even closer. As Cadence allowed the kiss to deepen, a weak little Growl escaped Chrysalis, and when her forked tongue met the alicorn's, she suddenly pulled back from the kiss.

Both ponies were blushing by now, but Chrysalis' was much more obvious. She abruptly stood up on slightly shaky legs, saying, "W-Well, fine, I... I'm inclined to believe you" She said, looking away from Cadence with her snout scrunched as she tried to will her heated face to calm down.

As she stood up, Cadence couldn't help but wear a grin, ears perked upwards as she watched the Queen. She found her... cute, actually. If she was honest with herself, Cadence liked this new development. She hadn't lied to Chryssi- she really did like changelings, and she'd spent a lot of time with Reeve, a changeling drone who lived with Polaris. It was too bad that he was only into stallions...

But Chrysalis had no idea that she was the starring character in a few of the pink alicorn's fantasies, ranging from mushy romance to very lewd. She leaned against the taller mare, then she nuzzled her neck a little, saying, "So, if I was to help... what kinda plans do you have for taking care of Nightmare Moon?"

Chrysalis bristled at the contact, but she seemed to sag as she allowed the mare to touch her, and she sighed a little bit. "You say you want to help, but the plans involve rebuilding my hive... and while I supposedly have you to supply love, I am going to need at least one pony to incubate the eggs" She said, giving Cadence a withering look.

To Chryssi's great surprise, Cadence returned her look with an even bigger grin.
