Defeating Nightmare Moon with the power of Love
You two are gonna do WHAT?
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAs much as Chrysalis really, really, really wanted to get drunk on the pink alicorn's love and spend a full day in bed with her... she couldn't. Partially because she didn't even have more than a sloppy, haphazardly put together goo bed. And worse, the drone she'd tasked with watching for any lunar guards had already spotted a few of them, but thankfully none of the batponies had spotted the makeshift little hideout.
Yet. Chrysalis frowned down at Cadence as the pink mare started giggling, and she moved away from Chrysalis so she could sit down in front of her. "What?" She asked, reaching up to try booping the changeling's snout. Chrysalis swatted her hoof away, but that wasn't enough to wipe the grin off of Cadence's face.
"I don't... how can you be so... aloof about this? In the eyes of your subjects, I'm a living, walking demon, foals have nightmares about me, and you would have be believe that you're fine with being my broodmare after talking to me for an hour?" Chrysalis growled.
Cadence hesitated a little bit, then she said, "Well... if it helps save Equestria... and I thought you liked me?" She said in a softer tone. Chrysalis seemed about to say something, but then she hesitated, and she frowned as she walked to the 'doorway', leaning against it.
"It's... it's hard to think about, I suppose" She grunted, struggling with her emotions a bit. She did like Cadence, but it was so hard to believe her when she was so eager to help. And worse, deep down, she felt like she didn't deserve it. She kidnapped ponies in the night to extract their love to feed her hive... the alternative was starvation, but what else was she to do?
She sighed, then she said, "They're searching for me, I'm sure they plan to kill me, and have that be the end of my hive... they already took all of the brood-nymphs, which is why I mentioned you..." as she looked back to Cadence.
Cadence frowned with thought, then she asked, "Why... why don't you come back with me? To uh, to PolariSoft? Do you know who Polaris is?"
Chrysalis snarled slightly, saying, "With other ponies? What, so they can turn us in? So I can get caught with my wings closed? Why would I even try that?"
Cadence huffed a little, saying, "You do realize that Moon's looking for me as well, right? With my magic, I can purge the hate from her, and I'm pretty sure that's the source of her powers... and, if she managed to brainwash me or something, my magic could also be used to force everypony in Equestria to love her..."
At this revelation, Chrysalis' eyes widened. "I... I knew you had disappeared, and I was surprised to find you hiding at such an odd place, but..." She said softly. She thought about it, and her ears slowly lowered as she realized that Cadence was right. "You... you're right, that's... she'd be able to stop any sort of uprising before it even began" Chrysalis quietly said, looking down at Cadence.
The alicorn nodded slowly, saying, "She's left Polaris alone, thankfully... there's an old bunker below where he lives, and I've been hiding out there..." She said.
"Bunker... how large is it?" Chrysalis asked.
"Well, it was made to hold like, the whole town of ponyville, so it's quite... well, it's huge" Cadence said with a sheepish smile. "I actually got lost a few times..."
Chrysalis slowly nodded, then she quietly said, "It's not like I have much of a choice, if I try to build a proper hive, one of Moon's patrols is going to see it... so I'm going to trust you with the fate of my entire race, if you can lead us to your friend..."
Cadence slowly nodded, though Chrysalis was able to pick up that the mare had begun to feel anxious. In a way, it comforted her, since it let her know that the alicorn was taking it seriously. Chrysalis didn't say a word, but her last remaining changelings gathered around her, coming from the other, smaller room in their little hideout. Other than one of them wearing bandages, they all seemed to be in good shape. At first, Cadence looked nervous as well, but then she put on a determined expression and said "Right, let's go".

When Chrysalis led Cadence out of the hideout, the Pink mare waited until her drones had scanned the area for Lunar guards before she took to the air, flying just above the trees to look for a landmark. In the distance to her right, she could see the faint glow of Ponyville's lights, and to the left, she could see a mountain range. And right next to the nearest mountain? A radio tower, soft lights blinking in the dark sky.
Cadence landed once again to tell Chrysalis the route she planned to take, and the small group of ponies set off through the forest. Other than a few scares from forest creatures, the group of ponies made it to the backside of PolariSoft just fine, and in a group, they all flew over the outer wall of the complex and then into the hangar, through the small crack it was left open. Once all of them had flew inside, Cadence quickly pulled the lever to shut the door, and the heavy rolling door rumbled shut with a dull clunk.
Princess and Queen both let out a sigh of relief as the outside was closed off to them, and Chrysalis bent down to check her drones, glad to see that none of them had gotten hurt on the way over. Though in the hivemind, she could feel something else. Another changeling, one of hers, but... they weren't in the hangar. She frowned, and she looked out to the archway that led into the room they were in.
For now, things were silent, and Cadence assumed that Saphira didn't seem to have anything to say. Saphira, one of Polaris' daughters, was actually Equestria's first sentient AI, "living" on the server banks in the bunker. Next to Ponyville, a town where electric lighting was rare, it was odd to have a complex with cameras in every room, an AI, and two living vehicular ponies, but... that was Polaris, and the four gears on his flanks.
"Come on, it's this way" Cadence said. She led Chrysalis through Polaris' garage, through the power room, and down the long, long set of stairs that led into the Bunker. Once they walked through the blast doors and the decontamination room, Chrysalis slowly looked to the left, then to the right, her eyes widening a little bit. The main tunnel was long, stretching off to large metal doors on the left and some sort of room on the far right.
"How long has this been here...?" The changeling Queen softly asked. The drones looked up and down the tunnel as well, but none of them said anything.
Cadence shrugged, saying, "I dunno, but it's cool... I think they built it back when ponies were worried about megaspells?" She said.
Above them, the speakers crackled, and Saphira's voice came through as the digital mare said "Hey uh, you guys mind going to the library....?"
Cadence smiled, and she nodded as she said "Sure!" She started to walk, leading the queen to the left, all the way down, almost to the end of the hall. When they walked into the library, Chrysalis frowned.
The library was huge, and it had a balcony around the edge to allow access to a second level of books. There was a large TV at the end, and tables lining the middle of the room for ponies to read at. Only one of the tables had anypony at it.
Polaris, the blue-furred, black-maned stallion, was sitting at one of the tables, and he offered Cadence and Chryssi a smile as they walked over. But beside him? A changeling. One of hers.
Chrysalis sat down at the table without a word, and she decided to ignore Polaris. Over the hivemind, she seeked out the changeling, and she spoke to him.
"You. What are you doing here? What is your name, even? Did you run when Moon found us?" Chrysalis asked.
"N-No, I... I'm, um, R-Reeve, Reeve Amor, I um, I've..." he said nervously, his voice shaky and soft.
"Answer me, hatchling".
"O-Okay! I-I ran away years ago, I... I didn't want to impersonate stallions to... to gather love from mares, I... I wanted to... I liked them..." he said in a weak, shaky, fearful voice.
Then, Chrysalis realized how he may have ended up here. "Did you used to serve under commander Tarsal?" she asked, her frown deepening. The changeling she spoken of had been a good commander, for a time, but she'd kicked him from the hive when she learned that he demanded all love be gathered from mares.
Her hive had been starving, and he had the gall to limit their love gathering to just mares. The poor little drone in front of her... he wouldn't be the first one that she learned ran away thanks to Tarsal. But as she thought about it... perhaps it was a good thing. Suddenly, her attitude on deserters changed.
A lot of changelings left the hive over time, hoping to seek out their own love instead of the meager rations Chrysalis managed to serve out throughout the hive. And now, after Moon's attack on the hive... they were all that Chrysalis had left.
She was interrupted by Reeve's voice again as he meekly said "Y-Yes..."
She slowly nodded, and in a soft tone, she said, "Perhaps we'll talk later, but you can stay with this blue stallion..."
And then, she cleared her throat, turning her gaze to Polaris as she unfocused on the hivemind. He gave her a sheepish smile as his horn lit up, and as she glanced back, his magic briefly ran over her, all of the drones, and Chrysalis. A changeling-detecting spell, she didn't blame him, he might assume that Cadence was one of her drones. The curious thing was that he seemed to be using dark magic, like the late king Sombra. Though while Sombra's magic had been the variant that fed on pain, it seemed Polaris used the softer, lustful kind.
That gave her a bit of respect for him, actually. She fed on love, and Polaris fed on lust. That made him somewhat similar to her, in a way. She cracked a slight smile, saying, "Changeling detecting spell?" In a soft tone.
The stallion hesitated, then he said, "Well... yes, actually... sorry, it's just habit, I... I guess I'll ask why you happen to be here?" he asked curiously. He looked away for a moment to push a tray in Cadence's direction, complete with two big glasses of water and a Pizza. To Chryssi's amusement, the pink mare did not waste time waging war on the poor pizza she'd been given.
She turned back to Polaris, and she slowly nodded, saying, "Sorry for being blunt, but the nightmare launched an attack on my hive, and... what you see before you is all that remains of my hive" She said in a quiet voice, shaking ever-so-slightly with the emotion that it still brought her. She showed her weakness in front of Cadence, but she would not do so in front of Polaris.
Both Polaris and Reeve gave her a wide-eyed look, and she felt the hivemind buzz with a slight amount of activity as Reeve began to silently talk with the others about what had happened, the small drone's ears lowering. "I... is that why you took Cadence?" he asked softly.
Chrysalis smiled a little bit, saying, "You're right in assuming it was me, and... yes, I... originally, I intended to... force her to help me rebuild the hive, but she... she convinced me to come here, because I've learned that she wants to help" She said softly.
Polaris looked to Cadence, but she just gave him a grin, and he hesitated before shrugging a little. He gave Reeve a brief nuzzle, saying, "Well, can I help...?"
Chrysalis nodded, saying, "I just need a safe area to start working, somewhere where me and the princess will not be bothered". Polaris grinned at her, nodding as he sat back in his chair. She supposed that meant he had a location in mind, which would hopefully make things easier.
"Well, there's the bunker we're in..." he said. "But there's a nice uh, a natural spring cave attached to the bunker..." he said. "I guess I could show it to you guys?" He asked, glancing over as Cadence downed the second glass of water. With that, the tray was made empty.
"Running water?" Chrysalis asked. She thoughtfully rubbed her snout with a hoof, then she stood up, saying, "Well, that will help with creating the hive..."
Polaris and Reeve stood up, and so did all of the other changelings, making Cadence the last one up. With Polaris leading, all of the ponies left the library to head for the cave, which was just down the hall and left into a room. As soon as they walked into the dark cave, lit up only by one light near the entrance, Chrysalis knew it was the place.
Running spring water dripped from the ceiling and burbled quietly through pools in the damp cave, and the walls were smooth and rounded for attaching hive materials to. "This.... this is perfect" Chrysalis quietly said. Cadence happily grinned as she walked a bit further into the cave, turning in a circle. "Y-You think so?" She asked, her wings briefly fluttering a little bit.
The queen, wearing a smile for once, took to the air, flying to one end of the little cave, then the other. "Yes, I... this will do fine, can I use this?" She asked, landing once more and looking to Polaris.
The blue stallion backed up to the doorway, then he shrugged, saying, "I mean, yeah, of course, and I'm gonna do my best to make sure that nopony's able to find out that you guys are here, just like before... Saphira's already scrubbed all of the footage of you guys, just in case" Polaris said.
Chrysalis nodded, then she said, "Well... thank you, and I'm sorry to do this, but... there doesn't appear to be a door here..." She murmured, lighting up her horn.
Reeve finally spoke up, saying, "Maybe we could hang a curtain....", but Chrysalis had already thought of her own solution, and the sound was cut off as she placed a forcefield in the doorway, opaque so that the others could not see into the cave.
As the sounds muffled, Chrysalis spread out her wings and her legs, stretching herself, then she slowly sat down, groaning as she finally let her tense body relax. Cadence sat down in front of her, and she gently touched her snout to the queen's for a moment. "W-What do we do now...?" She asked softly, and Chrysalis found herself grinning just slightly as she noticed the faint redness on Cadence's cheeks. Well, that, and the faint lust radiating off of her.
She raised a hoof, saying, "Well, first, I need to gather enough love so that I can produce eggs... then, they need to be laid inside of someone, and I suppose that will be you, since I don't have any broodnymphs..." she said, waving her hoof a little. "Then, they'll need to be fertilized by a drone, but thankfully, I do have a few of those..." she said.
She watched as Cadence's eyes flicked over to the drones, and she smiled slightly further. Some of the drones had wandered off to explore the cave, but at least one of them noticed the princess looking, and he gave her a grin. When she looked back to Chrysalis, her blush was even redder.
"After that, the eggs will grow, which depends on how much love their broodmare is able to give to them... once they're ready to be laid a second time, they'll be placed in their cocoons, and as long as we keep those supplied with love, well... that's how we start rebuilding the hive" Chrysalis said quietly. For a moment, she still felt sad, but it was difficult to focus on that with the increasing lust she was sensing in front of her.
Chrysalis' smile increased for just a moment, becoming a smirk as she softly asked "I'm going to assume that your fascination with my kind extends to our reproductive habits...", and she actually let out a soft giggle as Cadence quickly nodded, looking away for a moment.
"I-I mean, yeah, I... I-I really wanna help, genuinely! B-But also because of that...." She mumbled. About the same time, Chrysalis recieved a message from one of the drones that they had found a smaller cave attached to the main cave, with nothing inside except for another light and a bed.
Someone's hideout, most likely. Chrysalis stood up, stretched a second time, then she started to walk as she said, "Well, I suppose we shouldn't waste any time on this, hmm...?" Without even needing to ask her to follow, Cadence got up as well, trailing behind the queen.
She walked to where the drone had indicated, and to her delight, she pushed open the fragile wooden door that had been mounted in the entryway to find a smaller tunnel, little more than a small hollowed-out room with a bed and a light inside, just as he said to her.
She moved aside, letting Cadence have a look at the room, then she gave the Pink alicorn a smile as she said "After you...." Cadence had the element of surprise, however. Chryssi had planned to follow Cadence into the room, obviously, but her plans were interrupted when Cadence dragged her into the little room before she even had a chance to do anything about it.
Right into one hell of a kiss, as well...
