Lunar Sword

Luna walked out of the royal dining hall with her sister, "but Tia, he did assault the castle and take down all my guards, not to mention he he broke into my room, so why?"

Celestia gave her sister a warm smile, "Luna, nopony has ever been so determined to try and start a relationship with us before, even my admirers haven done anything on this scale." she giggled, "that goes for my old lover as well, he accidentally teleported me into his work room, *sigh* if only he was still here." she stopped walking and and put her hoof on her sisters shoulder. "Luna, you have been alone for a thousand years, you could use somepony special in your life, that's why you should give this guy a chance."

Luna thought on this for a couple of days when she finally decided that she would hear what he has to say, then she would decide. She called over one of her guards and he gave a deep bow, "Go and inform Commander Fury to remove all wanted signs for Midnight Sword and that in two days time he will arrive here again. Make sure that all the guards let him through and that he should meet me in the throne room."

The guard gave another bow, "Yes your majesty." and whit that he ran off.

~2 days later~

Midnight was making his final preparations to head back to Canterlot. He opened the 'door' and took off towards the city. During his flight he encountered alot of pegisi guards eyeing him from a distance, he was happy they weren't attempting to arrest him. He landed just outside the castles gate when one of the guards finally confronted him.

"I'm Lieutenant Hills, the princess has requested that I escort you to the throne room." he gestured him to follow.

They slowly made their way through the courtyard and main hallway when Midnight decided to break the unsettling silence. "So.......I, uh........sorry for...uh...beating the hay out of you guys last week, i uh, needed to make a big firs impression." he said as he scratched his mane.

The lieutenant looked at him as he walked, "Most of us don't really like you because of that stunt, especially the commander, he took it very personally. If I were you I'd try to avoid him." the lieutenant warned him.

"So, Hills, i can call you that right? What about you, what do you think of me?" he asked.

He smiled, "I don't like to hold grudges Mr. Sword, in fact i kinda respect you in a way. First you manage to take all of us out alone without killing a single pony, then you beat the hay out of Fury, and i especially like that part, nothing is better than hearing that your superior officer got his flank kicked, and you do all this just just to ask out the princess, i gotta hoof it to you, that takes alot of guts and i like that. Sure you hit me on the head a couple of times but i like you Mr. Sword you don't seem like a bad guy. Now if you'll excuse me i have some business to attend to, the throne room is just around the corner." he said as he left.

Midnight was happy that he just might have made a friend. He rounded the corner and, aw hay, he thought. Standing in front of the door and only a few inches from his self was the same lunar stallion that guarded Luna's door a week ago. He attempted to go around the guard but he stepped in his way again.

"You have some guts to show your face here again." he growled.

Midnight gave a mischievous grin, "you must be Commander Fury, i hear you don't particularly like me, is it because i through you through a door after I beat you silly?" he teased him.

"You dare insult me after humiliating me!? I don't care what my orders are I wont let you see the princess." he yelled.

"Really? We have to go through this again?" he complained.

Fury started to draw his sword, "you are scum and I shall be rid of yo-" he was cut off by the throne room door opening behind him.

"Commander Fury stand down at once!" Luna demanded.

He turned to look at the princess, "With all due respect princess, thi-" he was cut off again.

"COMMANDER FURY STAND DOWN AT ONCE AND AWAIT THOU'S PUNISHMENT IN THE BARRACKS!!!" Luna shouted using the RCV.

His ears splayed back, "yes princess" he mumbled and walked off.

She turned to Midnight, "We art terribly sorry for our guards actions just then, we had hoped he would have better control of his self." she apologized.

He shook his head, "Not at all Luna."

Her expression lightened, "Tis good to know, now please do follow us into our throne room."

They walked into the room and Luna spoke first. "Midnight Sword, why dost thou refer to us without any of our titles?" she questioned.

"Because I don't see a goddess or a princess, i see a lonely mare who looks like she could use a friend. And please, you don't have to speak to me as if addressing a subject." he answered.

"Very well, I'll speak speak with you normally." she seemed to blush a little at what he said. They walked into the middle of the throne room and she summoned a table with two chairs. "Come and sit Midnight Sword we have alot to discuss." she said as she sat.

"Please, just Midnight is fine." while he sat down.

"Ok then Midnight, before i say yes or no, I want to know why you want to know why, both me and my sister have admirers but why go through so much lengths just to ask me out?" she questioned.

"Alright, I'll start at the beginning. My last name wasn't always 'Sword, i used to be Midnight Star." he paused, "When i was a young colt I lived with my mother on the outskirts of Equestria. My father passed away when I was just a new born so I never knew him, but other than that it was a happy life." his expression saddened, "but that all ended one night. My mom came into my room a couple of hours after i was asleep, she rushed into my room panicked and crying. She picked me up and nudged me out of the window....the last thing she ever said to me was 'Mama loves you'." he paused.

Luna looked at him shocked and concerned, "What exactly happened?" she asked hesitantly.

He took a couple of moments to ready himself. "I ran into the forest and waited there. Being young i didn't listen to her completely when she told me to run. i saw a shadow leave the house in flight." he paused before he told the traumatic moment. "Then the house exploded with fire........ I laid there for days screaming and crying for my mother, on the third day it rained and put out what was left of the house. It was night and there was still an overcast when i finally picked myself up, as i walked around the house i found a gryphon feather on the ground, I knew it belong to whoever burnt down our house and killed my mom, but i never found them. Anyway seeing the feather made me cry again." he paused for a breath, "but that's when a small portion of the clouds opened up and a bright ray of moonlight shone on a portion of the fallen house. I walked over to where the light was shining and began to move all the rubble aside, underneath was a burnt picture and frame of all of us, me and my mom and dad. I had herd the tales of 'The Mare on The Moon' and i that was the only thing i thought it could possibly be, i looked at the moon and whispered 'thank you'." he said sadly.

Luna looked at him with great sorrow, that was when I was imprisoned on the moon, Nightmare Moon didn't care for nopony, so why did she do it?, she thought. "How did you survive?"

He gave a little grin, "that's just it, I didn't." Luna gave him a questioning look. "The days of no eating, drinking and the lack of sleep had finally taken its toll on me. I wandered through the forest when i finally collapsed and died, but thats when my teacher first met me." he lifted up his hoof and showed her his bracelet. " This was originally created by Nightmare Moon for evil purposes, luckily he was able to recover it long ago, i don't know if you remember but it has the ability to allow the wearer to teleport among shadows, summon a blade dark as night, and resurrect them from death only once. The trade off of is that it binds itself to the wearer and cannot be removed." he put his hoof back down.

"Anyway, my teacher found me and put it on my hoof and teleported us back to our current residence at the.......uh, sorry he doesn't want anypony to know where he is yet. So the years passed and I changed my last name to 'Sword', every night I would look up at the night sky and stare at the moon for hours on end, one night i noticed that the 'mare' shape on the moon had disappeared and that's when my teacher told me that that was Princess Luna returning from her thousand year imprisonment on the moon. an soon as I was able I bought a Grand Galloping Gala ticket in hopes to finally meet you, but you never showed up and the Gala ended. Later i herd rumor that you would be going to Ponyville for Nightmare Night, it was that night that i saw you for the first time. Never had i seen such magnificence and beauty." Luna blushed again. "I knew I had adored you for a long time but when I saw you, i had fallen for you instantly. Yes I know that 'love at first sight' sounds cheesy but its true."

She recalled that night but couldn't remember ever seeing him. "How come you never showed yourself or confronted me?" she asked.

"My teacher let me go on the condition that I only observe, no interaction with anypony." he stood up and walked over to one of the great glass windows, "So, now that you've heard m story Luna, would you like to go out with me?" he said still staring out the window.

His story had deeply touched her, he had gone through just as much pain and suffering as she had. She got up and hesitantly walked over to him. He turned around and she looked at him for a good thre minutes, she walked coser to him and gave him a hug.

"Yes, I would be glad to." she said.
