Lunar Sword

"What?" Luna exclaimed.

Midnight stood up and looked at her, "I asked if you would like to date me."

She couldn't comprehend what he was saying, one does not simply ask a princess if they wanted date, it was unheard of. "Art thou sure thou hast not come to kill us?" she asked.

"Nope, wait yes? Which ever one means i wont hurt you." he stumbled

"Thou must Pinkie the Promise."

He executed the series of motions, "Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." he said proudly.

She lightened up a little after that but she couldn't wrap her head around it. She took a couple of steps forward and asked, "Then why, prey tell, did you go through all this just to ask me?"

He chuckled, "I got your attention right."

"And how did you know that we wouldn't just leave out our window to escape before thou arrived?"

"Your an alicorn, you have the stubbornness of an earth pony, the speed of a pegasus, and the magic of a unicorn, you wouldn't run if it was a dragon instead of me that came through your door." he stated.

She looked at him shocked, this pony was smarter than he looked, "But why us?" she asked.

He took a couple of steps back into a really thick shadow and said, "You have been you yourself, but you have been in my life more than you know. Its rude to make you decide right now so i will come back in a week at the end of the night, you might want to let your guards know." and with that he vanished.

She reached a hoof out to him, "WAIT!!!!" but he was already gone.

Midnight appeared at the base of Canterlot mountain on the opposite side the city was on. He walked over to the base where there where many fallen rocks. He grabbed a small rock that was on the ground and twisted it, a door sized rock that was propped up by the mountain slid to the side revealing an opening. He walked in and the 'door' closed behind him, when it shut completely the 'cave' lit up revealing that is was actually a house the size of a small manor. He walked into the main room and sat on his big comfy couch.

"So, how did it go?" a disembodied voice said behind him.

He looked over at a rich blue sapphire with two crossed diamond rings floating around it sitting on a pedestal. "how'd what go?" he smirked.

The gem glowed when it talked, "you know damn well what im talking about."

"Alright, alright, it could have gone better, but got my point across to her. How are you doing today Master Mustache?"

The gem yelled at him, " I told you i had a beard! And how do you think im doing, im a GEM!!! Now get over here and lift me up, im done recharging."

"Sorry Master Beard." Laughing, he got up and walked over to him. He picked him up and tossed him up. The gem caught the air and started floating around.

"Go and get some rest young Midnight, you've had a long day and i have more training for you tomorrow. Now if you'll excuse me i have some preparations to to make." He floated off into another room.

Midnight sighed and started walking to his room, he opened his door and walked in. The room itself wasn't very big other than the fact that it had an extremely high ceiling with exposed rafters. He flew up to the rafters where he had his make shift bed, since he was a pegasus he liked high places, they made him feel safe and secure. He laid down and thought of the day he had, he had finally gotten the attention of the princess he liked so much, his thoughts started to wander as he drifted off to sleep.

Luna was pacing around her room for hours, she cancelled tonights Night Court due to the earlier events.When this Midnight pony broke in she was expecting an attack not a confession. She tried weighing her options, while he was considered a criminal for assaulting the castle and breaking into a princesses chambers he was also kinda handsome too, knock it off Luna he is a criminal, but those eyes..... She shook her head and sighed, "Perhaps we should ask Tia on this matter in the morning." She sat down and picked up a book to try and clear her thoughts.

Midnight was back at his families cottage on the outskirts of Equestria. "But Mama, I don't want to go to bed yet, im not even sle-YAWN-epy." His mom tucked him in bed and got him all comfy.

His mom smiled at him, "Midnight Star, you are a young colt and you need your rest." She gave him a kiss on the forehead and blew out a candle. "Goodnight Midnight."

"Goodnight Mama." He yawned.

She walked out of the room and he fell asleep.

It was a couple of hours later when his mom rushed into the room and woke him up. "Midnight, Midnight wake up, come on wake up."

He stirred from his sleep and looked at her, "What is it Mama?" he hopped out of his bed.

She grabbed him and hugged him, she cried softly, "Midnight listen to me ok." she picked him up and placed him on the large window sill.

"Mama whats wrong????"

She was really crying now, "Listen sweety, you need to get away from here, its not safe here. Sweety mama loves you, mama loves you so much." She kissed him on the forehead one last time and nudged him out the window.

Young Midnight glided to the ground and ran to the forest a couple of yards away and hid there. He saw a shadowed figure fly out of and away from the house. He started to take a few steps towards the house when the house exploded in fire. "MAMA!!!!"

"MAMA!!" He shot upright gasping, crying, and sweating. he looked around and laid back down. He looked over to a burnt picture and frame of his mom. "mama" he whispered, and he drifted back to sleep.
