New Gods, Old Foes

Lune, Celestia, and Necroses walked into the statue garden, in the center stood Discord in his stone form. He looked surprised, his body was curled up in terror, and his eyes were opened wide. Necroses approached the stone draconequus.

"Ah my old friend Discord, I miss you and your disturbed sense of humor." Necroses said, knowing that Discord could not hear him.

Celestia walked up next to the king "I'm sure he misses you as well Necroses." She said, as kindly as possible.

"Yes but I'm sure he misses you more Princess". He said mockingly.

"Oh shut up" Celestia said, trying to hold her tears back as she stared at Discord. "It's your fault he is like this in the first place".

"I believe it was you rejecting him that caused this".

"That might not of happened if you didn't fill his head with lies." Celestia said, her face was filling with anger.

"You know as well as I do that i can't lie." Necroses said, trying to annoy the Princess even further.

"Sister what are thou talking about?" Luna asked, slightly confused. "We Thought Discord was imprisoned because he was an uncontrollable force of nature?"

Necroses laughed at Luna's question "Ahahah... I'm... I'm sorry Luna... but I just can't believe you bought that garbage."

Luna gave The king a disgruntled look, slightly glaring at him.

"Please forgive me Princess I meant no offense" Necroses said, looking at Luna with kind eyes and a smile.

Luna's eyes went wide and her cheeks were rose red "Tis alright Lord Necroses, no harm done". A kind and gentle smile appeared on her face.

Necroses chuckled, "I think it's time you know the truth." He said "Don't you agree Celestia?"

"I suppose I could not hide it from her forever." Celestia said, sounding nervous.

"Sister?"

"Luna you should listen to what he has to say."

Luna nodded her head, and turned her attention to Necroses. The King cleared his throat, so that his words were as clear as day. He stood in front of the statue of Discord and began to speak.

"Luna, a long time ago before you were sent to the moon and Discord was trapped in stone. You, me, Celestia, and Discord were close friends." The king said.

"Discord.. Our friend?" Luna ask, in confusion.

"It is true my dear Princess. Discord was one of your closest friends" Necroses said being very alluring.

The Moon Princess shook her head "Impossible, We would never associate with a monster the likes of him." She said, trying to convince herself. She backed up into her sister who just stood there like a statue.

Necroses approached her. "It is all true Luna, you, Discord and I have been friends since you and Celestia were fillies and I was a small colt."

"If thou speakith the truth then why do we not remember you?" The Princess demanded.

"I believe our dear Sun Princess can answer that."

Luna looked to Celestia. "Sister... What is he talking about?" She ask, somewhat frightened to hear the answer.

Celestia turned her head and looked away from her younger sister. Her head tilted in shame.

"Sister does he speak the truth?" Luna asked, with teary eyes.

Celestia remained silent, still looking away from her sister.

"SISTER!! why does thou not answer us?" The Princess of the Night shouted, tears were running down her face.

"it's true." Celestia said, with a whispered "I did something to make you forget that you ever met Necroses." She said a little louder.

"Sister?"

"I used a spell called the Forget Me Knot" Celestia admitted.

"The Forget Me Knot?"

"To put it simply it is a spell that separates your memories into two halves." Necroses intruded in the conversation.

Luna was shocked at Necroses' answer to her question, then asked him to go into a more detailed explanation. Necroses gladly did as she requested.

"The Forget Me Knot spell, is a high level spell few ponies have ever attempted to perform, and even fewer successes. All subjects who had the spell cast on them have either died or gone absolutely insane. To be honest Luna I think you are the only pony who has ever survived the spell, with their memories intact."

Luna looked to Celestia "Sister, thou used a spell on us, knowing we could of died?"

Celestia looked to her sister, tears formed in her eyes. "I am so sorry Luna, I never meant to put you in any danger. You were just so sad and I had to do something to make you stop crying".

"We do not wish to hear excuses sister". Luna averted her gaze to Necroses "Tell us more of this Forget Me Knot spell".

"Well it's like this Princess, It splits your memories into two halves, the first half are the memories that the caster wants you to remember, the second half are the memories they wish for you to forget. The memory strings that connect the two halves are then tied in one big knot, completely blocking access to the second half."

Luna stared at the mighty king, with a socked expression on her face. She did not know whether she could or could not believe the information she was just given. She then turns to her sister, anger filling her beautiful eyes.

"Sister, we demand that thou release us from this pell at once!!" Luna said to Celestia.

Celestia lowers her head and tells her younger sister "I'm afraid that I can not remove the spell."

"So what thou are saying is that we have half a life that we shall never remember?" The Moon Princess asked.

Necroses intruded in their argument to say "Well actually that is not entirely true".

With confusion covering her face she cautiously asks "What does thou mean Lord Necroses?"

"What I mean is that there is a way that you can remember your past". The King proudly stated.

Luna looked at the king suspiciously and asked "So you can restore our memories?"

"Well I can at the very least loosen the knot". He said, with a kind smile.

She timidly approached the King, with caution. "How does thou propose to do this?" She asked.

"Let me show you." He said, very alluringly.

Necroses lifted his mask enough to uncover his mouth and not show his face. He then looked deep into Luna's beautiful eyes and leaned in, as if to give her a kiss. This made Luna very uncomfortable. She backed up, but he just came closer to her. She kept backing up until she bumped into Discord's statue. Her cheeks lit up a bright red as the King Of The Dead invaded her personal space.

"What does thou thing thee are doing?" Luna asked fearing his intentions.

"Worry not my dear Princess, it will only take a second". He said, trying to comfort her. He then leaned in so closed that their faces were almost touching.

Luna looked to her sister and Called "Sis.." Before being interrupted and passionately kissed by Necroses.

As he kissed her, Luna's pupils dilated and she began to stare blankly into space, her eyes then became relaxed and then closed peacefully. At that moment a tidal wave of memories long since forgotten began to rush into Luna's mind. Memories of her as a filly playing games with Discord, having tea parties with Celestia, and Necroses, so many memories of him filled her brain. Her eyes opened as if awakening from a restful slumber. She opened her eyes to find herself passionately kissing Necroses and their forelegs around the other. She quickly pushed him away and shook her head as if realizing something.

after taking a moment to gather her thoughts Luna said with wide glassy eyes and a huge smile "Necroses our old friend". She then proceeded to hug Necroses, as if he were a big teddy bear. "It has been over a thousand years since we saw thee last. we missed thee so much". She said, increasing her grip on the King.

"I have been alright Luna, I've missed you as well". He said quickly running out of air. "But can you lighten your grip, I can't breath". Luna released Necroses and he gasped for air.

"Please forgive us, we are just so excited to see thee after so long". Luna said, her cheeks slightly red from embarrassment.

Necroses chuckled then responded with "It is alright Luna I understand, It took all I had to keep myself from hugging when I saw you earlier".

Luna blushed even more and giggled at Necroses' statement. She then looked at him with a confused look.

"what is it Luna?" The King asked.

"We can't seem to remember thou wearing a mask before".

"Oh is that all?" He asked with a kind smile.

"And why can we not remember thy face?" Luna asked suspiciously.

"I guess, that is as far as the knot will let you remember". He said, while keeping his cool.

"So you were only able loosen the knot then?"

"I'm sorry Luna"

"Tis alright, but can thou take off thy mask so we may see thy's face?". Luna asked, slowly reaching for Necroses' mask.

The King stepped out of Luna's range and said "I'm sorry Luna but for certain reasons I can not show you my face at this moment in time".

Luna looked at him with a playful pouting face, trying to get the King to reveal his face. Not even Necroses could resist the pull of Luna's cute pouting, as he began to give into her stare an idea popped into his head. "Luna let's see exactly where the spell cuts off". He said with a smirk. "Tell me the very last thing you can remember, before turning into Nightmare Moon".

Luna's eyes widened at his question, like it caught her off guard or something. "Well lets see". She said with her hoof tapping her chin. "The very last thing we can recall is". She stood up in shock at something very important she had forgotten. "Discoed, We forgot all about our dear friend Discord!" She yelled, then turned to Discord's statue. Necroses took a deep breath then exhaled in relief.

Luna was leaning against the statue of Discord, on the verge of crying. " Oh Discord, we are so sorry thou are imprisoned in stone, we had no other choice." She said, a single tear falling from her eye.

Necroses looked at Luna, with concerned eyes. He stood there for a moment, when a hoof punched him in the shoulder. "Hey!" he said, rubbing his shoulder.

"That is for kissing her without my permission." Celestia said shooting him a cold look.

"Still overly protective as always i see... just be glad she doesn't remember everything yet."

"That reminds me, You could have restored her memory completely right there and then... So why didn't you?"

"I have my reasons Celestia." He said with an evil smile.

"And what reasons do you have to not restore her memories?"

"To put it simple... I want to test a theory."

"So you want to use my sister as a test subject?... That is low even for you."

"I assure you that she is not a test subject. Even if it was she is the only one who can confirm my theory."

"Necroses I swear if you are using her in some kind of sick and twisted..."

Luna popped up in front of the two alicorns, tears were running down her face. "Sister is there any way we can release Necroses from his imprisonment?" She said, with the most adorable sad face.

Celestia looked nervously at her sad sister. "I'm sorry Luna but even if we could if we release Discord, he will spread his chaos over all of Equestria." She said, trying to break the news to her sister gently.

"Couldn't we do something to contain his powers?.. Just until we can bring him to his senses." Luna pleaded with her sister, desperately trying to reason with Celestia.

"I suppose we could but Discord would escape before we could place the seal on him... It would take both of us just to release him."

"But you have me hear, being alicorns we have enough Magic to cast the most powerful magic seal and release him." Necroses cut into their argument once again.

Luna looked at The King with glistening eyes, then turned back to Celestia. "Please sister, he is one of our oldest friends." She pleaded once again.

"Luna even if that is true, we would need precise timing to do it without him escaping." The Sun Princess replied, with a sad look.

"how about this Celestia? lets try the plan an if we fail and he escapes, then I will take my soldiers and go back to my realm, never to return." He said, confident he could persuade her.

Celestia looked away for a moment, to think about Necroses' offer, even though her erg to be rid of The King Of The Dead, it was Luna's puppy dog eyes that defeated her."alright we will try it." She said, with defeat on her face. "But you are taking the shot Necroses." She glared at The Black Alicorn.

Necroses smirked at her and said "deal."

The took their positions Necroses standing behind Discord, Luna and Celestia standing side by side in the front. The sun was setting in the distance. Necroses was charging his spell, whispering chants to increase it's strength. The two sisters stared at the statue ready to strike. Once the sun's rays were completely out of sight the princesses fired two bright beams of light at Discord.

Discord's statue didn't seem to be effected by the magical blasts at first, after about a minute cracks could be seen all over the draconequus' body, up his neck, up his torso, and around his ankles. as the cracks became larger Necroses readied himself to fire at just the right moment. When huge shards of stone came flying off of Discord in an explosion, Necroses wasted no time, and fired a bright green magical blast at Discord.

As the blast struck the draconequus, he was tossed forward and was slammed, face first into the wall of the castle. Celestia was shocked that Necroses actually hit Discord, the Sisters galloped to Discord's side to see if he was alright. As the dust from the collision cleared a shadowy figure could be seen through the dust, there was a moment of silence before Discord was completely reviled. the draconequus was rubbing his head, in pain and yelled "Son of a bitch... Did I just get hit by a fucking train?"

Luna jumped with joy and hugged Discord. He looked at her with confusion, he then pushed her away and floated into the air "I don't know why you released me, but now that I'm free I will spread my chaos across all of Equestria." He said, then laughed wickedly. Discord floated in mid-air waiting to vanish in a puff of smoke, but nothing happened. The draconequus looked at claws "What is going on? Why wont my powers work?" He shouted.

"I'm afraid that is my doing Discord, I sealed your powers away until I deemed you worthy of having them back." Necroses confessed to the chaos being.

"Necroses. My old friend, it's good to see you again." Discord said, with an evil smile. "I thought you were banned from ever coming back to Equesria."

"I was, but certain events have allowed me to return so that I may assist The Princesses in a conflict they are having with the changelings."

"I see... Is that why I've been freed from that stone prison?"

"No. It's because Luna missed her friend."

Discord looked at Necroses in confusion, then looked at Luna, who smiled at him. "Luna... Whats the password?" he asked. Luna stared at him for a moment before answering "Bananas!" she exclaimed with cheer

"So you do remember." Discord said, then turned his attention to Necroses "So you used The Kiss Of Death on her, didn't you?"

"Yes but she does not remember everything yet, but she does recall you being her friend. So it's a start." Necroses responded.

"I see" The draconequus said while landing in front of The King. "So how much of my magic did you sealed away?"

"You are able to perform small parlor Tricks but nothing more than that."

"(Sigh) well some is better than none I suppose." Discord said, reluctantly. He then glanced over at Celestia, she stared back at him sheepishly, He glared at her then looked back at Necroses.

"Why don't you go say hi Discord? I know you've missed her." Necroses said, with a caring tone.

"True, but she made it clear a long time ago that she doesn't feel about me the way I feel about her."

"Discord..." Necroses was cut off by the Chaos being.

"No Necroses... Whats done is done, Just tell me what you need me to do." He said in an emotionless tone.

"For now just go wait in your room" Necroses said then looked to Luna "Luna would you be so kind as to showing Discord to his room."

Luna smiled then grabbed discord by his lion arm and pulled him to the door of the castle. As the two walked into the palace Celestia stood by silently and watch Discord and Luna walk by. Once they were gone She started to cry softly. Necroses walked up next to Celestia and gently patted her on the back "Worry not Celestia we will bring Discord to his senses just wait."

Celestia wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled at The King slightly. "Thanks dead head."

"So your using my old nickname again, guess that means you forgive me."

Celestia raised an eyebrow and said "Not even close."

"Ha ha I knew it wouldn't be that easy"

"Ha ha you got that right."

The two shared a short laugh before hearing an explosion coming from around the Center of town. Necroses face hoofed himself then said "Oh DJ what will I do with you."
