Anon a miss: family love
chapter 4: punishment and consequences
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSunset leaned against Flash as they came to the nurse's office. Flash was about to knock when the door swung open, revealing a woman with white skin and light pink hair. She wore white scrubs with a red plus and hearts in the corners of the plus. Her blue eyes were shadowed by worry but brighten when she saw the two of them.
"Oh perfect, I was just on my way to fetch you. I just finished talking with Microchip and Gilda, and they mentioned that Sunset had been attacked. Flash, do you need an excuse slip?"
"No Nurse Red Heart, Principal Celestia already wrote one for me, thanks though," Flash said with a smile as he led Sunset to the bed.
"Well, I should be thanking you for bringing Sunset. Well, I'm about to check Sunset for any other wounds. So, I'm going to have to ask you to leave now," replied Red Heart.
"Oh, sorry. Hey, uh, Sunset, I'll come by during lunch, okay?"
A quiet nod from Sunset was the only answer he received before he turned around and slipped out the door and shutting gently and as quietly as possible. Flash turned around and headed off to class. When he entered his class, he walked over to the teacher and gave the note. The teacher read the note and offered a nod and proud smile before resuming the lesson. Flash walked to his seat, and his mind wandered to his time dating Sunset and what she liked to eat. She probably wanted to be as far away from the other students as possible, meaning she wouldn't go to the cafeteria for lunch. However, he could get lunch for her, and they could spend the lunch hour alone in the infirmary just talking. Flash smiled as he mapped out his plan together with Sunset and the topics they could talk about that they were both comfortable with. Flash began to write safe topics in his notebook throughout the rest of the lesson.
With Sunset
"Good news is you don't need to go to the hospital as the wounds are too serious. You do have a mild concussion, but the effects will only last until the end of today, tomorrow morning at the latest. It's a good thing Flash found you when he did, any more than this, and you'd have to go to the doctor's office. Your eyes aren't dilated, which is a relief; otherwise, you would have a more serious concussion. You are a little off when you walk, but you can move around on your own, and I think it's more because of your knees rather than the concussion causing it. I can allow you to sleep, but I'll be waking you up every hr to check on your condition, understand? If you're not degrading, then I'll let you go back to sleep."
Sunset nodded before she let her eyes grow heavy and allow a dreamless sleep to consume her.
With Celestia
Raven arrived with Rainbow five minutes after Sunset was lead to the infirmary with Flash as her guide. Rainbow had tried to get some information out of Raven like she always did, but the secretary was strangely tight-lipped about the reason for Celestia wanting to see her. She simply led the rainbow-haired girl down the hall that led to Celestia's office.
When they reached the office, Raven sat down at her desk and merely gestured for Rainbow to knock on the office door. Chewing her lip at the ominous vibe that she was feeling, Rainbow Dash knocked on the door in three quick knocks. A faint come in was all that Rainbow heard, and she opened the door to a cold office. Rainbow found this odd because she remembered that Celestia preferred rooms to be warm and covered in light. And while it was still light inside, it was harsh and cold from her window that showed the snowcovered ground. When Rainbow entered fully, Celestia was standing by the window as she looked outside at the light snow that was beginning to fall.
"Sit down, Rainbow Dash," Celestia said emotionlessly as she pointed to the chair in front of her desk.
Rainbow gulped as she sat down in the chair across from Celestia.
"Do you know why you're in my office, Rainbow?" asked Celestia in her emotionless tone.
"No," Rainbow said.
"Then allow me to enlighten you. The reason you are here right now is because you locked Sunset in her own locker, sent her messages that could imply you wish her dead, and that she was a useless friend that should have never lived past the Fall Formal. Well, let me tell you, young lady, we are going to have a long conversation about both of these matters," Principal Celestia said sternly to the teen.
"That's not fair, Principal Celestia. She did this to herself. If she didn't want to be our friend, why string us along? The only explanation is that lying bitch just wanted to get dirt on us to push us around like before the Fall Formal. Well, I'm not letting her do that to us again. She has to learn that she can't push us around like she did before," Rainbow said, too caught up to notice a small and angry frown form on Celestia's face at her chosen word for Sunset.
"Rainbow Dash, you will not swear in my office again, especially when talking about another student. Do I make myself clear?" Celestia said as she walked to her chair. She stood above Rainbow Dash, who looked like she was going to fight her on that matter. When she saw Rainbow think otherwise and she looked off to the side with a scowl.
"Crystal," Rainbow growled out.
Satisfied with the answer, Celestia nodded before she pulled her chair out and sat in it to continue the talking. Rainbow found that even though Celestia was sitting down, she still towered over her, much to Rainbow's annoyance, and Celestia certainly knew how to use that to her advantage.
"You know this has a consequence, right?" Celestia said, looking at the rainbow-haired teen.
"What? No, why should I get in trouble for protecting my friends and their feelings?" Rainbow argued back.
"Because your actions towards Sunset, including the locker incident, hurtful messages, and the language when you refer to her. Doing these actions in an attempt to how did you say it again, "protecting your friends," does not cancel out the fact that you attacked a student physically, mentally, and emotionally. Not to mention that this student was until recently friends with you and your group of friends. Doing the wrong thing for the right reason doesn't make it acceptable. Now for your punishment. Your punishment will include being two weeks of ISS for the locker incident and a call to your parents as to why you're being suspended. Once you have finished with ISS, you will have one week's worth of detention for cursing and the messages you've sent to Sunset. I will also be calling your parents to have one of them come and pick you up, and before you leave, I'll make sure to inform them of your actions and why you're being suspended."
"What?!? But that's not fair. It's not my fault that Sunset is anon a miss!" Rainbow cried.
"Do you want to know the difference between your and Sunsets cases?" Celestia asked as Rainbow became quiet. "The difference between your cases is that while you claim this and that of Sunset, you have no proof. All you have are accusations and assumptions that make her the guilty party. While with you, I have seen the messages you've sent Sunset. I have eyewitnesses claiming to hear you bragging about stuffing her in the locker. I witnessed you using disrespectful names with regards to her. I have personally seen what your locker stuffing incident caused on Sunset's body. Having said that, is it really that surprising that I would punish you rather than false claims of angry teens with no evidence whatsoever? Not to mention, you haven't once tried to deny these actions, which leads me to conclude that you purposely did them."
"But I do have evidence she didn't lose her phone, and the pictures came from her phone. That proves she's anon a miss."
"First of all, That does not prove that Sunset is anon a miss. Someone could have easily sent the pictures to themselves through messages and deleted the messages before placing the phone back without Sunset's knowledge of it ever missing. Second, they could have just as easily downloaded the pictures onto their laptop. Thirdly, this evidence still doesn't make your behavior towards Sunset any more accepted within this school, and even if Sunset was anon a miss, I would still be having this conversation with you. One does not stop bullying by attacking the bully, as the title of bully would then be award to you. You can't solve the problem of bullying by bullying the bully," Celestia said sternly.
"But that's-" Rainbow said as she grasped at straws to justify her actions.
"Now, I want you to wait in one of the chairs outside my office while I call your parents. While you're out there, think about your actions and the consequences you've caused outside of the ones I've already given you," Celestia said as she open Rainbow Dash's file so she could call the girl's parents.
"Yes, ma'am," Rainbow said softly as she left the room. Rainbow walked out of the room completely defeated, before she shut the door softly.
After the teenager left the room, Celestia leaned back into her chair as a heavy sigh escaped. It wasn't even lunchtime, and all she wanted to do was go home and sleep. As she sipped at the black tea that she reheated from the small microwave in the corner of her office. As she dialed one of the numbers listed in Rainbow's file, she received a call from Chrysalis.
"Hi Chrys," Celestia said.
"Hey Tia, I investigated Sunset shimmer like you asked me to, and she doesn't appear to exist in this world. I check all the files that I have access to and couldn't find anyone with that name. I even went through social media pages and found nothing. Which is both good and bad, good because that makes it easy to make her and bad because I wonder what happened to her counterpart. From what you told me, everyone has a counterpart, so that makes me wonder what happened to them. Anyways it should only take about a month to create a paper trail that no one will ask questions and only a few days to make adoption papers for her," Chrys said.
"That's just what I needed to hear when I can pick them up?" asked Celestia excitedly.
"I'll have them done by Tuesday at the latest if I have to deal with something unexpected, but I should have them finished tomorrow at the earliest, but Sunday will probably be when I drop by to give them to you," Chrys said as she laughed at Celestia's excitement.
"Oh, I'm so excited, you can stay over, and I'll make your favorite drink with a salmon dinner for you and Luna," Celestia said as her mind ran through ingredients she would need for dinner and the drink.
"Y-you mean Changling'love-struck nectar?" Chrysalis asked in a stammering voice.
"The very same Chrys."
"I'll have it done by tonight, bye Celestia," Chrysalis said as she abruptly hung up.
Celestia laughed quietly before pocketing her phone. That was when she realized that she would have to mention this to Sunset, but she was happy for the moment. Until she looked down, and a scowl formed on her face as she looked at the file before her. Grumbling underneath her breath, she began to call Rainbow Dash's parents.
"Hello, this is Principal Celestia from Canterlot High. I'm calling about your daughter, Rainbow Dash-"
11:25 am at Canterlot High
The day passed with no further incidents as lunch rolled around, except for a rumor that Rainbow Dash got suspended. Microchip, Gilda, and Flash walked to the infirmary to check on Sunset. Nurse Red heart was informed that Sunset felt better when they reached it but didn't feel like returning to class. So she was allowed to use one of the rooms in the library to go through her classwork. So the group made their way to the side rooms and found Sunset in the last one in the far corner.
The group sat at a table, and the four of them ate their food. Flash had gathered Sunset's favorite food, including a salad with pickled peppers and hard-boiled eggs and sun-dried tomatoes with chickpeas and mozzarella cheese. As the four of them sat together, they all talked about their interest and found that Gilda and Sunset had quite a bit in common with each other, with Sunset being a street artist and Gilda tagging spots and lines for skaters and parkour runners. As they talked, the group slowly began to forget about anon a miss. Everything was lighthearted until Lighting Dust and her boyfriend, Star Hunter, walked into the room. Immediately, the group tensed, and Gilda sat up straight, using her height to her advantage in hopes of warding the group from the two approaching them. Lightning Dust, however, either didn't notice or completely ignored her as she marched up to Sunset.
"Hey, there, Shimmer, how's it going?" Lightning Dust smirked.
"What do you want, Lightning Dust?" Flash asked.
"I'm not talking to you, loser," Dust shot back.
"What do you need, Lightning Dust?" Sunset spoke up.
"Straight to the point, huh? Rainbow told me that because of you, she got two weeks of in-school suspension."
"Is that so?"
"Yea, it is. Not like she didn't deserve it. What kind of idiot goes around bragging about break a school rule to whoever will listen, am I right? And for what? Some pissant coward running around spreading 'secrets' when it wasn't ever a secret that ole Rain always got awful grades and could barely keep a C average, enough for her to play sports."
"You don't think I'm Anon-a-miss, do you?" Sunset asked.
"Obviously not. You have to be a special kind of dumb to believe goodie-goodie Sunset is that way now. Back around the Fall Formal, sure, I might have suspected you, but not now. You've gone soft. You're not the queen bee of the school now. Even when you were, you only blackmailed the students quietly. You didn't go about spreading all the bull everyone is calling secrets. Hell, you probably still know everyone's dirty secrets. Which is why I know it's not you because if it was, you'd be posting a lot worse shit on that page than Rainbow failing a test or AppleSack rolling around with pigs when she was baby. Plus, ya got nothing to gain by doing this. It wouldn't be smart, and considering you're the smartest girl in school, I can't see you doing this stupid plan" Lightning said.
"So, can we sit with you?" Star Hunter asked.
"Uh, sure, I don't see why not."
The group began to eat, and they found that Lightning was an avid follower of Sunset's alter ego, Flanksy, and was looking into getting into street art. When Sunset offered to take Lightning with the next time she tagged the streets, the girl could barely contain her excitement. They were just about to make plans when the bell signaled the end of lunch.
Sunset, feeling more stable, went with Flash, Lightning, and Star to her chemistry class. There was only one class until she had to head home. She figured being in a class with three of five people who believed her, Sunset couldn't see many negative points.
After school, Sunset waved goodbye to her friends and went to Principal Celestia's office. She thought about stopping by her locker but decided to against it after the incident this morning. As she walked by the hall leading to her locker, she was relieved she didn't, as the Rainbooms, excluding Rainbow Dash, were all waiting by her locker. Rather quickly, she shot across the hallway opening was thankfully not seen by any of the girls. Sunset practically ran to Celestia's office at that point. When she reached it, she swiftly knocked on the door.
"Come in," Celestia said as she looked up to see who she was when she saw Sunset with her back pressed against the door.
Celestia smiled at her, "Hi Sunset, how are you?
"Besides the fact I just saw my ex-friends at my locker waiting to talk to me, I'm good, I suppose. Um, during Lunch, Lighting Dust, Microchip, Gilda, and Star Hunter became friends with me, I think. At the very least, they do not believe that I am Anon-a-miss, so that's a start. Oh, and of course Flash, um, he doesn't believe that I'm Anon-a-miss either. I was hiding out in the library during lunch, and you won't believe what he did. He remembered my favorite meal from back when we dated. He was always such a dork. I can't believe that he still remembers what I like eating when I'm stressed after all this time. Can you believe it? He's such a good friend," said Sunset with a smile
"That's wonderful news, Sunset. I am so glad some students are starting to come to their senses. While I would love to continue talking about this, but right now, I have a meeting with the teachers. You can stay here and do some school work, it won't take long. The meeting should only take half an hour. You can play on your phone or sleep on the couch if you don't have any homework. Oh and don't let me forget that I some things to tell you when we get home. I'll see you in a few, sweetheart," With that, Celestia dipped out of the room.
"Good afternoon, everyone. I hope you had a good day. I wish we were discussing less serious of a matter, but it has just recently been brought to my attention that we have a crisis on our hands. For quite some time now, a mystable page has been causing much discord throughout the halls of the school. This page needs to be stopped as it just nearly took the life of one of our students here. We need to discuss what were are going to do about this situation. This needs to be dealt with now before it tries to take any more students from the school. Now, according to what I've gathered, this user appeared four weeks ago and had been doing nearly daily uploads of people's private life. The worst part is that many students follow this user making it difficult to pinpoint who exactly this person is. So we need to start brainstorming on ideas to solve this and quick."
The teachers nodded in agreement.
"Now, any questions before we start?" Celestia asked.
"Yes, I do," Cranky Doodle spoke up. "You mentioned a student trying to take their life. I believe we as teachers should know who it was so that we can keep an eye on them."
"...very well. But this doesn't leave the room. Do I make myself clear?" a nod from all the teachers forced Celestia to speak. "The student who tried to kill herself last night was Sunset Shimmer. Due to the actions of this user, much of the blame is being pushed onto her as a scapegoat, and it's, unfortunately, working as many students here believe that the culprit is Sunset, including her group of friends, the Rainboooms."
A collective gasp sounded from many teachers and had a few looks at each to make sure they heard correctly. Suddenly the room was filled with teachers talking and asking questions. It was beginning to be overwhelming to Celestia.
That was when Celestia lost a hold of her patience, "THAT'S ENOUGH! We have other things to discuss like how to end this."
"I'm sorry, Celestia. This can't be easy on you," Cheerilee said softly.
"It's not, which is why I want to solve this as quickly as possible. Now let's get started."
