New Spells
Studying old magical techniques doesn't come without a few roadblocks. For Starlight and Sunburst the roadblock they face is stubborn alicorn named Twilight. Starlight's mentor and recently crowned princess of Equestria.
"Starlight I emplore you please rethink this. You don't know what that spell may do!" Twilight had discovered Starlight's new spell three days ago during the preparation stage. Although it seemed she never got the chance to read it. Being discovered wasn't going to stop Starlight now. She was too close.
"Twilight calm down, I've gone the spell over three times today and maintained all necessary precautions you are just being paranoid." Starlight annoyed tone did little to calm the alicorn.
"Starlight-" Twilight started before the other unicorn Sunburst interrupted. Sunburst has been next to this plan of Starlight's for what Twilight assumed to be atleast a span of weeks.
"Twilight it's okay we've been over the spell time and again. We just need a place to test it." Twilight gives the prospect a short thought before coming to a conclusion she hoped everyone would be happy with.
"Alright I will allow you to test your spell however I need two things from you." The two stopped and listened carefully. They may be casual about this but they weren't stupid. "First." She held up her index finger infront of the two. "I need to know exactly how this works. Second, I need you to find a safe secluded spot for the test." The two unicorns smiled.
"Oh course Twilight we'd be happy to tell you how it works follow us. We'll go to my house to discuss this in private. Arriving at Sunbursts house the three settled in. Twilight and Starlight sat at the kitchen table while Sunburst put some tea on.
"So Starlight how does this spell of yours work and what does this experiment entail?" Twilight's almost foal like curiosity seemed to get the better of her. For Starlight this was welcomed but she felt she should still say something.
"What happened to that cautious alicorn hmm, Did she disappear?" Starlight chuckled as she looked around. Twilight however found little humor in the bad attempt at a joke. Scoffing the light jab off and rebuking.
"Oh ha ha Starlight. I can be curious when I want to. Now stop stalling."
"Alright alright." Starlight chuckled once more before clearing her throat. Sunburst said nothing bringing the tea and pouring a cup for each of them. "So this spell is ment to focus around inter-dimensional observation. The spell works by-"
"Wait wait wait." Twilight interrupts holding her hands up. "A inter-dimensional spell? No offense towards you two but have you lost your minds!?"
The unicorns look at each other for a moment before they burst out laughing.
"Twilight" Starlight says between fits of giggles "Do..do you think this has just been decided by us with no preparation?" Starlight asks still holding her stomach as her midsection was starting to cramp from the laughter.
"Oh my sides oww"Sunburst laughed his sides also experiencing similar cramps.
Twilight scowled but waited for the two to calm.
"Okay...okay" Starlight breathed out calming herself. "Lets get this going somewhere." Starlight clears her throat before continuing. "So back on topic, we were about to talk about how the spell works, right?" Twilight nods. "So how the spell works is in correlation with a object. The object we chose for this is a necklace.
This necklace." Starlight layed the necklace apon the table.

Twilight looked down at the necklace seeing it to be tribal in origin but she couldn't put her finger on what culture it came from. She'd have to find it later on. Maybe she could ask Cadence? Shaking her head Twilight focused back in Starlight.
"So what part does this necklace play in the spell?" Twilight asked leaning against the table her chin supporting in her hands.
"The necklace is the most important part. Without it we couldn't know if the spell was cast successfully. See the carved jewel. It filled with liquified mana essence. With this essence in place we'll be able to keep track of the necklace no matter where it goes." Starlight explanation seemed to hold on the surface however Twilight couldn't quite put off the feeling of fear that came with it.
The three continued talking for awhile longer. However soon enough it was time to test this new spell. Twilight and Starlight debated on where the spell should be cast with Starlight wanting to do it just outside the city and Twilight wanting to do it on the edge if the Everfree.
It took a few minutes of arguing from Twilight and Starlight. With Starlight successfully making the point that Sunburst couldn't make a day trip for one spell Twilight conceded. With that the three started walking to their destination.
Outside the Crystal City
When the group got to what Twilight deemed to be a sufficient distance from the city. Though Twilight may have been influenced by the fact it was so cold this far outsde the city. Dispite the clear weather it was still very cold.
Eagwr to get started Sunburst was first ti began as he appled a series of runic symbols in the ground with a weakened magical beam.
[€¤¥^₩]
Looking at the rune Twilight felt uneasy. She had her fair share of accidents in the past when it came to runic magic. She hoped Starlight knew
What she was doing. Next Starlight lay the necklace within the center of the rune and finished off the preparation by drawing a diamond around the word.
The spell was ready to begin.
Starlight and Sunburst sat on opposite sides of the diamonds primarily points. While Twilight sat not too far to the side trying to stay out of the way. Finally Starlight began to chant.
"¥€.. ₩€.. ¥€.. ₩€€€.. We are drawn to be together. Our two become one of the same. Beside us you will Fall!!"
All Twilight felt was a fresh burning overtake her body. At least she wasn't cold anymore.

Waking up in pain is the worst. At least that's what Twilight's opinion was as she woke up. Her head was ringing like a church bell and her nostrils were filled with the smell of burnt hair. Looking around she noticed a multitude of things wrong with the area. From small fires to groaning ponies it was needless to say Starlight's spell did not go well.
However what was truely strange about the situation the three found themselves in..was the mysterious woman that lay where the spell had been preformed. Twilight finally able to at least stand, staggered towards the woman, limping noticeably.
She didn't look all too different from the normal equestrian. The only differences between her and them was mainly color based. Her skin and hair were brown with her clothes being a light blue clothing covering some but not all of her body.
That's not good especially not this far north. Looking back behind her Twilight saw that Starlight and Sunburst were sitting up trying to shake off the shock from the magical blast. Walking closer Twilight crouched next to the mystery woman. Resting her fingers apon the side of her neck. Pressing gently she found a light.. but steady pulse.
Breathing a sigh of relief. Twilight took off her jacket and wrapped the young women up. Being directly in that blast couldn't have done her any good the last thing she needed was hypothermia. Looking again however Twilight caught a reflection of light from something around her neck.
The necklace? Twilight found this strange but trying to take the necklace off proved fruitless as a powerful shock jumped from the necklace to her hand.
"Ahhh!" Twilight yells jumping back. The yell also caught the attention of the two unicorns behind her.
"Twilight!" Starlight called out rushing to her side.
"I'm fine..I'm fine, just a small shock." Twilight said shaking her hand for a moment. Looking at it she sighed. The necklace seemed to just give a small shock. Must be some kind of anti-tamperment charm. "How are you and Sunburst?" Twilight asked turning to face Starlight.
"We're alright. A few scraps but okay."
Twilight nodded "Good gather what you can we need to get her to the hospital. And Starlight?" Twilight asked grabbing her student by the arm. "We are going to have a long talk about this later, understood?" Starlight nods walking off to help Sunburst. Twilight watching can only rub her temple and sigh.
The trip to the hospital was peaceful and after making sure things were taken care of. Twilight contacted Cadence. Her response to this was one of utter confusion. How had Starlight's spell brought someone over the dimensional plane? Neither knew how but Twilight asked Cadence to send Spike over.Something she agreed too whole heartily .
She would need to study the spell along with necklace. Getting it off the women might be tricky however. For now she needed to talk with a doctor or nurse who had examined the mystery woman. Then when Spike got here get talking with Celestia.
Twilight walked through the halls for a few minutes before finally coming across a doctor. Who she promptly approached.
"Excuse me doctor, but are you one of the doctors that are in charge of the woman my friends brought in earlier today? I never got the chance to catch any of their names."
"Hmm... I am not Princess Twilight however if you'll follow me we can find out with the help of the receptionist desk downstairs."
"Thank you doctor" Twilight followed along as the two walked down to the nearby elevators which they gladly took. The doctor took the opportunity to strike up casual conversation.
"So Miss Sparkle how are you feeling, I heard when you came in you were dizzy?" Twilight smiles at his concern.
"I'm alright now thank you for asking. I believe it was the adrenaline wearing off at the time." The doctor just smiled back. Glad she was feeling better as the elevator dinged signaling they had arrived. Talking with the receptionist they soon found the doctor and nurse in charge of the womens health were having a particularly nasty discussion in room 207. The room with Starlight's mystery summoned woman.
Entering Twilight cleared her throat which did the trick getting their attention.
"Oh Princess my apologies" said the doctor as he and the nurse turned her attention to Twilight. Although Twilight noticed she was still giving him somewhat of a stink eye.
"Nurse, doctor I came to talk about our recent addition." Twilight stated. "But first however can I get your names?"
"Of course Princess I am doctor Gold Dust. A pleasure." He said giving a slight head bow in respect.
"And I am Nurse Ruby Art a pleasure your highness" the nurse said bowing slightly.
"Well, now we have that out of the way Miss Art what can you tell me about our resting friend here?"
"Not much unfortunately. She is almost exactly the same to us in the anatomically sense. However~" the nurse almost continued but was interrupted by the Doctor Dust.
"She seems to have some kind of magical ability. We cannot be sure however as it isn't something we've seen before." Twilight considered this for a moment.
Unknown magic that could be dangerous but also could be harmless. Better be safe that have a disaster.
"Give me a few minutes. I'll see if I can make arrangements with my sister in law on this matter." After receiving a nod from both of them she was about to pull a piece of paper from the nearby table when a groan sounded from behind her.
Waking up I had a few very confused questions running through my head. One where am I? And two am I dead? I move my stiff body slightly causing a spike of pain to shoot through my spine from my legs.
Ok ok nope not dead yet...oww. Wincing I lay there my senses slowly coming to me one by one. Feeling came first even if I hated every second another nerve came back. My vision came back next. Although it was hazy and unfocused.
My hearing came back and even though it seemed to echo. At least I was thankful I could hear at all. Turning my head I came face to face with a blob of purple. Oh god I'm hallucinating! My eyes widened as my pupils failed to focus.
Then I heard it's voice.
"Hello, can you hear me?" It asked. The blob seemed to be female and dispite wanting to ask my own question I didn't get the chance. As I opened my mouth I groaned again. My legs starting to spasm as the muscles came back to functionally once again. Relaxing after a jolt of adrenaline shoots through me. 'Thank you evolutionary adaptations' My vision begins to come into focus and the world becomes cleared.
The purple blob from before was replaced with a woman. A nurse from what I could see shoved her away. Trying to answer the previous question my throat became dry instantly. A cough racked my body causing more pain.
A hand was placed apon my forehead. The touch was gentle yet firm. Yep she's been around.
"Here ma'am drink this." The nurse raised a cup to my lips. After receiving my drink I gave one last hard cough finally clearing my throat.
"Ma'am what do you~?" I heard my voice. But it was much morw high pitched. Bringing my arm up slowly I felt my upper throat.
It was smooth...hairless. Didn't I have an adams apple and a beard before....!
My eyes shoot wide as a rush of adrenaline lined fear shoots through me. I bolt upright and whipped off the sheets covering my body.
I.... I'm a woman?
An.. Interesting Confrontation
Ok, jumping out of bed after being essentially blown into another world sucks. The moment my feet hit the floor my body gave out like a sack of potatoes being thrown off a roof. Although it seemed with all the adrenaline running through me I wasn't gonna feel it anytime soon.
Gritting my teeth I pushed myself to my hands and knees I feel the nurse place a hand on my left shoulder and support my chest. Talking again I find my voice is starting to clear up.
"Hey..Doc, umm...get on my right, help me out here would ya?" Ugh, my voice is so feminate. It's making my stomach twist with every second.
He doesn't hesitant to do so. Helping me back up on the bed he examines me. After a short period of me calming down 'though still shaking' the doctor starts asking questions.
"Ok now, how do you feel? Any pain or discomfort anywhere?" I take a deep breath. After I slowly exhaling I respond.
"I think I'm alright doc but I have questions of my own if you'll let me..." Looking over his shoulder to the others they nod.
"Of course ma'am I be happy to answer any question you ask as well as I can." Closing my eyes I rub my eyes with three fingers as I take another steady breath.
"Ok first off lets start slow. Where am I?"
"That is simple... You are currently in the Crystal Empire on the continent of Eques. This is Crystal General Hospital." I could only stare as he continued. "However I would like your name before we go further. Is that alright miss?" I swallow the excess salvia in my mouth looking him in the eyes.
Crystal Empire?, Eques? Oh god.
"My name before arriving here was Felix. But now... now I don't know what to call myself." I begin to breath deeper, Keeping calm was getting difficult. "I was just an average guy and now I'm a chick in a strange world of rainbow colored people and...and!" Another shaky breath racks my body causing me to shutter and hunch over. I hold my head in my hands.
A gentle yet firm hand is lay in my left shoulder causing me to look over. Another reaches under my chin. Lifting my head I came face to face with a young woman. Most likely in her mid twenties.
Her face is decorated with a small smile as her arms encircle me. Bringing me into a hug she whispers. "It's okay... it's okay. You'll get through this I'll get help for you."
I could only buried my head in her shoulder I didn't fight her dispite how I felt. Just being held by someone was good enough for me right now. After a few moments I pulled away and after wiping away a tear still in my eye their was something else I needed to get out of the way.
"Is their a mirror around where I can get a good look at myself?" They allowed me to do so and with the nurse' help I was able to look at the person I had changed into. Strangely I recognized the person in front of me.
Katara... I whisper my eyes wide.
"What?" I jump losing my tedious footing at the question falling onto the hard floor. "Oh my Celestia I'm so sorry!" Having hit my elbow in the fall I groan in recognition of the girls apology. She helped me up dusting me off. "Again I'm so sorry I didn't mean too!~" I stopped her before she embarrassed herself further.
"I'm alright, you just startled me." I say rubbing my elbow. Although I don't think I know your name miss..?"
"Sparkle, Twilight Sparkle." She introduced herself with a bright smile..
"Well it's nice to meet you Miss Sparkle." I extend my hand out to her.
"That would be Princess Twilight Sparkle you, you disrespectful worm!" A voice interrupts from the door to the bathroom. Looking over Twilight's shoulder I saw what seemed to be a guard from how he was wearing. Dark purple and blue armor covered him. Twilight's smile faded quickly as she turned to face him.
"Lieutenant Shock Sheild why are you here, Cadence never said anything about a guard detail?!" I had a bad feeling about this. The Princesses reaction only added to my growing nervousness.
"Princess Twilight, Princess Cadenza asked a squad to volunteer to make sure nothing happened to you nore anyone else in regards to this unknown woman." Princess Twilight only sighed rubbing the bridge of her nose.
"I should have expected Cadence has always been protective. It's my fault for not expecting some sort of protection. Thinking otherwise was foolish of me. Twilight looks at the guard again. Alright you can stay however you do not do anything without my say so, Understood?"
"Yes Princess, Crystal clearly understood." He saluted and walked out before the princess turned back to me.
"Well as unexpected as that was. I'm sorry you had to see that. I hate to being my status apon the situation, please forgive me." She tilts her head down to me giving me a light bow. Something I wasn't sure about.
"Oh no no no, please Princess I understand you have no reason to-" A single finger finds it's way to silence my lips.
"Now none of that. Please for now just call me Twilight I want you to feel comfortable. Their is no pressure here."
"Well alright, umm Twilight." I gave her a light smile which she quietly returned before we returned to the main room.
Now unfortunately as much as I'd love to continue with our discussion, I believe it's about time for you to get some rest. Lieutenant you and your men stand guard here and try not to antagonize her.. please."
Walking out of the room I began walking to Starlight's room I hoped that she and Shock Sheild could get along. Even if my hopes are not high. But that's for later right now it time for a reprimand.
Laying in the bed I found something I didn't notice before. It was actually comfortable. Not hard and ridige. This brought a smile to my face. Maybe things weren't so bad.
Arriving at Starlight's room I knocked after a few seconds I was given a small response.
"Come in" I enter to see my pupil sitting on the edge of the bed looking at me.
"Ok Starlight I'll start out simple. What were you thinking when you cane up with that spell?!"
"I don't know what went wrong! I checked and double checked that spell. So did Sunburst. I don't know where I went wrong." Starlight's desperate explanation did not do her any good.
"Well figure out what went wrong because we have a person in the other room that wasn't only brought here against his will but had his gender changed."
Twilight took a breath calming herself just as Cadence had taught her years before.
"Speaking of that man where is he?"
He sighed himself out and lefy soon after we got here. Said he needed some rest in his own bed. Twilight sighed rubbing her temple. "Alright listen Doctor dust told me apparently our new individual has some kind of strange magic he hasn't seen before." Starlight's head bolts up to look at her teacher.
"Strange magic? So I...oh Celestia." Starlight put her head in her hands as she slouched over realizing the magnitude of her mistake.
If something went wrong it would be her fault. Starlight wouldn't be able to have her freakout however.
"Princess!" A guard yells bursting into the room. Their has been an incident involving guest, come quickly!" Twilight looked to the panicked guard his eyes wide with a mix of fear and shock. This day just got alot more interesting.
After Twilight left it was just me and these guards though it seemed conversation wasn't really a part of their job description.
"Sooo how is it being a soldier?" He only raised an eyebrow. Nice job brain.
"I'm not a soldier I'm a guard."
"What's the difference?"
"The difference is a soldier goes off to fight in war. A guard stays home and defends the homefront."
"So you guys have soldiers here then?"
"No, neither Equestria nore the Crystal Empire have been at war for over fifteen hundred years so their has been no need for professional soldiers, now will you please shut up with the questions."
"Hey don't blame me I'm just trying to fill the bordom until Twilight comes back."
"I thought I told you it was Princess Twilight." Shield now scowled at me.
"She said that I could call her Twilight before she left." This guy was starting to get on my nerves.
After that comment he then turned his whole body towards me. Marched up and got in my face. "I don't care what she said to you! She is a princess of these lands and as a foreigner you will show your respect." We were in each others faces now.
Thankfully whatever god was out there was looking down with pity because that was when the nurse decided to walk in.
"What are the two of you doing in here?!" We turn to her. She placed her free hand on her hip. "You are currently in a hospital. Their are more people here than just you I expect you to respect everyone else and be quiet." Her eyes shift between us as we back off. The guard taking his position by the door and myself sitting back down on the bed.
"Now then ma'a-err umm sir?" I chuckle at her awkward interaction with this moment. She clearly had no experience with this.
"It's alright. You can call me ma'am or miss if you need to. I might as well get used to it. Nurse Ruby Art was it?" I just barely remembered her name.
"Yes, thank you miss but many just call me Nurse Ruby, now then here you are." She said levitating a hospital tray towards me. It looked to be better than I thought. Sliced carrots, mashed potatoes and a small piece of fish. To see something even close to this good in a hospital was very surprising.
Picking up the provided utensils I began to eat the meal finding it to be quite good almost like it was home cooked.
"Yo Shock you want some?" I ask pointing at him with my fork. He just turns his head away in disgust. I shrug not everyone likes fish. After a minute I went to grab the cup of water on the bedside table. Only for the cup to slip out of my hand.
"Shit!" As the cup dropped I tried to catch it only for the water to come flying out into my hand. Silence deafened the room as the water formed a rippling ball in the palm of my hand.
"H-h holy shit..." I breathed out watching the small mass in my hand it seemed mesmerising.
"Get on the floor now!" A spear was pressed against my throat causing me to drop whatever I was doing with the water. The Lieutenant for whatever reason wasn't happy about my development. "Get on the floor Now!" I raised my hands off my lap halfway between the bed and the sharp point of the spear.
"Calm down man what the hell is-" was all I got out as I was beared down on by three guards holding me to the floor. Hard steel cuffs with a thick leather mitten were placed on my wrists forcing me to make a tight fist. "Dude what the-" I grunted as one of them forces my head back onto the cold floor. "Rrrrrhh get Off! I yell flipping my head back as hard as I could. I felt a solid crunch as I hit one of them.
My head once more was forced down. This time much harder causing my skull to bounce. The voices around me started fading as my vision faded to black and I found myself in a deep sleep.
Author's Note
Oh god it's finally finished I made this chapter longer for you guys instead of just spliting it. I just kept going. This is something I'm gonna try to do more with both my stories. Why did this chapter take so much longer was because I hit a small writers block at the beginning and didn't touch it for like..two, three days.
Actions Have Consequences
Author's Note
Ok so I unpunished this chapter briefly. Maybe a hour or so edited in some changes and added more. Enjoy.
Actions Have Consequences
Twilight burst into the room to see a terrified nurse, food and drink scattered about, and three guards holding an unconscious girl on the floor. To say she wasn't happy with this would be an underestimation of her anger.
"What in Celestia's name is going on in here, Lieutenant front and center now!" The lieutenant quickly complied. Though now he was face to face with an angry princess.
"Lieutenant Shock Sheild! Do you or your men have any idea what you have just done?"
"Princess if I may she was using elemental magic. Which is-"
"Do NOT preach to me about elemental magic and it's dangers Lieutenant. I studied under Celestia herself I am well aware!" Twilight took a calming breath before asking.
"What kind of Elemental magic did she use Lieutenant?" Shock seemed slightly taken back by Twilight's calmed demeanor but was quick to answer.
"She used elemental water magic your highness I didn't know-" Twilight silenced him with a raised hand and rubbed her temples in frustration.
"That's right you didn't... water elementals are not the most dangerous Lieutenant. Alright since your so confident answer me this lieutenant Shock Sheild, do you know how strong a developing elemental is when they first discover their power?"
......
Twilight stepped closer locking their eyes "When an elemental first discovers their powers they are incredibly weak. They are no threat to a squad of guards nevermind a kingdom." Twilight sighs again "Dare I ask what was she even doing with the water?"
"She was uhh" he swallows "She had created a ball of water in her hand and was staring at it. Princess please she could have been-" Twilight silenced him as angry expression once again grew on her face.
"You assaulted this girl because she and I quote had a ball of water in her hand and was staring at it." A drop of sweat steadily rolled down the face of every guard near. "Lieutenant from here until further action is taken by Princess Cadence you are no longer in command of this squad. You will not act to do any further harm to this girl and if you do... I will punish you myself, Now get out of my sight."
Sighing she rubs her forehead with her hand. "Where is Spike when I need him?" Walking out into the hall she comes face to face with three people the still shocked nurse Ruby Heart,Starlight and...Spike! Thank you convention timing . She thinks a smile doning her face.
"Starlight why you're here doesn't matter. Twilight points into the room. "Get in there and make sure those idiots do no further harm comes to the girl..please." Starlight looked apprehensive at first but quickly built her courage.
"Of course Twilight" She walks in past Twilight positioning herself between the two remaining guards and the woman she brought here.
Now Twilight turns to address the nurse "Nurse Art I'm sure you have many questions but can we save them for a more calm period of time?" After a few seconds the nurse Ruby Heart takes a deep breath and sighs silently agreeing. Twilight gives her a grateful smile. "Spike I need you to come with me. I need to get a situation report to Celestia asap."
"You got it Twilight" Spike said quickly complying. Though he had his own questions Spike knew now wasn't the time so he just agreed and hoped for more later.
Twilight's timing was as good as ever as luckily enough for her Celestia received the letter just as she was ending court for the day so the response was swift.
My Deatest Twilight,
I have to say I'm more intrigued by this than particularly worried. However I must warn you to stay vigilant and on guard. Beings with elemental abilities do still crop up from time to time. Many are still out there and unknown to even through my long life. I shall let you oversee this however I ask that this women is brought to Equestria for her protection. Take your time with this endeavor as it is not easily accomplished. Please stay safe.
Yours, Celestia
Twilight wasn't sure about this Celestia seemed to know more on the subject of elementals but she was in no position to question her mentor at this time. She would have to wait. For the moment she needed to arrange teansport to the castle and have a discussion with Cadence. Perhaps she knows more.
Soon enough a large transport arrived and after making sure everything was ready we boarded. The troops Shock Sheild's men loaded the girl inside. It disheartened me to see she was still heavily bound.
"Is this really needed? She's no threat to us." Twilight states to the group as she notices the girl is more bound than before. "What is this?!" She shouts to them. One of them responds.
"Princess Cadenza's orders ma'am, The subject is to be secured to make sure no threat is posed to the people or royal family." Ohh Twilight was gonna have a word with Cadence when they arrived.
"Ohhh" Twilight shot her head to the source of the noise. Felix next to seemed to be starting to wake up. And she wasn't happy. "Ohh god my head" Felix looked around and after a moment noticed the restraints binding his hands and arms. "What the hell!" He said slightly fighting his all to tight bindings. Looking around confused Felix suddenly came apon the sight of Twilight and focused on her. Although trusting Twilight might be foolish currently what choice did he have. "Twilight what's going on? where are we!?"
Twilight look at him a sad smile adorns her lips. "I'm sorry Felix but it seems my sister in law has deemed you a threat to her kingdom and people. We are currently going to the castle." Felix is shocked by this and about to freak out again when Twilight kneels down in front of him placing her hands on his shoulders. Felix stays listening to her their eyes locked.
"Felix listen to me I need you to stay calm. I know your scared but I will be having a serious talk with her as soon as I physical can. When we get there you can't fight them. If you do they may not be as forgiving as the lieutenant at the hospital. Do you understand?"
"Wha... what's gonna happen to me?" Felix's tone drips with fear causing Twilight to bring her closer.
"I'm not sure Felix but I promise you I will do everything in my power to help you. Okay?" Twilight asks letting go and looking at me again. I can only find the confidence to nod as my body begins to shake. "For now this should help with that headache." Twilight says focusing magic onto the developing bruise on my head the ache slowly subsides as I fall into a blissful dark sleep.
Soon we all arrived at the palace. It took less time than expected as Starlight, myself and the three guardsmen from the hospital exit and are met by two squads of guards and Shining Armor. The Lieutenant from the hospital walks up and salutes only to get gut punched by the prince.
"Lieutenant you are a disgrace to this guard and while I would love nothing more than to beat you senseless." He takes a breath. "We have more important things to worry about. Now do us all a favor and all three of you get out of my sight!" With a hand on his stomach the guard staggers away quietly his orher two follow quickly.
Shining sighs "Twilight, it's good to see you I'm sorry it couldn't be under better circumstances."
Smiling I shake my head "No apology needed brother I understand how busy you can get here." The two come together in a small hug before Twilight pulls away and clears her throat.
"Alright all of you listen up. The elemental girl is secured in the transport behind me. She is currently unconscious and she will be scared apon waking. If I hear any harm comes to her I will deal with you myself. No princess or prince will get between us am I clear!?"
"Yes Princess!" The surrounding guards response immediately.
Twilight lets out another sigh "Alright Shining do what you must, I need to speak to Cadence." She begins walking into the palace. The sound of rustling chains and creaking wood filling the air behind her.
"Princess Mi Amor'e Cadenza!" A very upset Twilight yelled out as she shoved the throne room doors open. The princess in question jumped at the sudden unexpected arrival. Her eyes widened as she realized her royal title was used. Twilight was pissed. Quickly composing herself she desended to her friend turned fellow princess.
"Twilight how good it is to see you what brings-" Slap. Cadence brings her hand to her stinging cheek her eyes wide with shock at what Twilight had just hit her.
"Don't give me that royal speech crap Cadence! I had everything under control until your guards assaulted a girl who didn't understand what was happening or what kind of powers she had." Twilight takes a calming breath (even if shakey) and lock her eyes with her fellow princess.
Cadence now composed responded swiftly and effectively.
"Twilight sometimes we all do things we don't like however if you think that girl is no threat what so ever you are wrong. She has powers she can't control and doesn't understand. She will be going to Equestria soon. And one last thing..." Cadence brings Twilight closer by grabbing her hair. "Do not question my judgement when it comes to the safety of my people." The Princesses eyes remained lock for a moment longer before Cadence lets go and Twilight turned away.
"You may have seniority on this but remember that no matter how much older you may be. Age does not make you smarter. I believe your daughter is an example for this." With that Twilight walks out the door leaving Cadence with the silence left behind.
Cadence for her part ran a hand through her hair before taking a letter out from between her breasts. "I'm sorry Twilight but sometimes one must be given for the greater good."
Opening the letter Cadence focused on the last line.
'Don't worry she'll be fine'
Yours, Celestia
Cadence had never read a bigger lie.
In the Dungeon
Sometimes it seems that people don't like me. Some say it's an attitude I have. Others say I'm not mature. You know what I have to say... Screw them I've been lauched threw space and time, assaulted, chained and now I'm sitting in a dungeon fastened to a wall via armbinder\cuffs, tight leather collar, and ankle cuffs. If anyone knows the definition containment it's these people.
I'd be yelling at the guards some more if my throat wasn't so parched. All I've had for liquids since arriving in this empire was a single sip of water. Before being attacked and knocked out That Shock is a dick. Did I make it clear I hate these damn guards yet? Waking up while getting dragged in chain has that effect. Question is what do they want with me?
As I contemplate this possibility I lay my head against the cool stone wall finding it to be quite damp dispite how sturdy the place seemed. Eyes snapping open I realize something. Water down here. 'Could that mean what I did at the hospital I could do here too?' It seemed possible but how would I go about doing that again?
'Did I really need my hands to control the water? Unlikely as it seemed I can't remember enough. So I guess it's worth a shot. Okay so now how to start? ' Focusing on what I felt in the hospital I felt faint tingles in my arms. I just needed a little more...
A deep thud sounded through the dark hall startling me out of my focused state. Now back to my current predicament I listened to the footsteps echoing off the stone walls.
"Great who's coming now?" I muttered annoyed with my lack of progress in figuring out what I could do.
"Gentlemen if you would kindly unlock the door I'd like to speak with our guest." I knew that voice! The door unlocked with a large clunk and in stepped the one person in this hell I could seem to trust.
"Twilight?" The Princess in question stepped fully inside the cell shaking her head as she saw how I was being held. Sighing she kneeled infront of me.
"Oh Felix... I'm so sorry about all this." This apology wasn't unforseen by me as she appeared to be the only one who treated me with respect.
"Twilight, it's not your fault don't apologize for something you didn't cause. It doesn't fit you." Twilight smiled briefly before it disappeared and she turned away. "Twilight... what's wrong?"
She sighs "It seems your going to be held for longer that I anticipated. The Princesses want to bring you to Equestria to decide what they will do...and if your a threat..."
"If I'm deemed a threat..?" I asked dreading the answer but I needed to know.
If you are deemed a threat... well I'm not sure. Elemental magic and or abilities as you appear to have based on what I know their are three possibilities. You could be seeled away in stone. You could be be banished to tarturus. Or in the worst case..."
"I'd be killed..." Twilight didn't have the heart to speak the words I could tell her throat was tightening in anguish. Anguish for me.
I hoped Twilight and this other princess were on good terms... if not this was gonna go downhill fast in the coming days.
In Canterlot
Luna had heard of the new elemental being confined in the Crystal Empire and she wasn't happy. For so long Elementals were friends, allies and great warriors within Equestria. So hearing about this event where does she go? Well to confront her sister on her decision of course.
"Sister I must emplore you reconsider this course of action. We have no way of knowing if-" a raised hand stopped Luna in her tracks.
"Luna please, I will go over this with you later. For now we need to bring her here so we can determine if she is a threat."
"No Celestia!" Luna raised her voice in frustration "Elementals have always great assets and friends who-"
"Luna many things are different. The elementals you knew of are gone a thousand years has that effect...times have changed and elementals are no different. As they have progressed they've become more dangerous and so have their aspirations." Luna found no calm in the tone apon her ears. She felt almost as if Celestia was mocking her.
"Like my aspirations made me dangerous?" Those six words made Celestia freeze. Celestia saw through it immediately. Spinning on heel she tightly embraces Luna.
"Don't you dare compare the actions of a psychopathic monster to you wanting more recognition! Nightmare moon wasn't you. It was my foolish mistake not yours Lulu."
You still believe that.. you always have been loyal to a fault... especially with family. Luna only sighs at the thought as her arms find their way around her sister. "Tia I understand things have changed but this doesn't feel right." Luna pulls away making eye contact. "Can you... just promise me you'll be fair in judging this girl for 'Who' she is rather than 'What' she is please."
Celestia pulls away "I understand your concerns Luna and I will not hold any ill will towards her. I do however wish to keep her from harming anyone. It's early, breakfast should still be waiting if you wish to join?" A devish smile danced it's way across Celestia' lips.
"A pancake eating contest with you?" Luna gave her own cocky smirk. "Your so on"
As the two royal sisters went on their way arm and arm Luna felt today would be a good day.
"Cadence this is insane!" Twilight had left Felix early in order to get some rest from the stress filled day. The next morning however she found things much worse than expected. Cadence wanted Felix on the route to Canterlot by the next day. Leaving Twilight little time for negotiation. Waking today Twilight planned everything out late yesterday.
Talk to Cadence about Felix. Try and convince her of how much she is treating him unfairly and or like an animal. And try to compose a compromise between what she wanted and a less restrictive solution. Now however the two of them sat in the dinning room across from one another seemingly hostile as Twilight tried to get Cadence to disconnect Princess from the person.
"Cadence a full platoon transport with heavy restraints and magical nullification?! Your treating her like a wild animal without control!" Twilight's teeth clenched at the plan she was confronted with.
"Twilight calm yourself" Cadence said still as stoic as when this had began yesterday. "We know nothing of where she comes from or if she is working for someone. I'm taking every precaution available to me for both her safety and the security of my people. When she arrives in Canterlot Celestia and the council will-" Slam Twilight's clenched fist crashed into the table. Her anger at the situation had been boiling. Now their was a crack in the table to prove it.
"Princess Cadenza I may be new to being a princess however I will not sit here while I am talked down to like a peasent. I know very well what will happen in Canterlot concerning Celestia and the council. Did you forget I set up the system to begin with after the Nightmare moon crisis!" Her voice climbed with her frustration. "But if you think it will be a fair deliberation your sorely mistaken. That girl may be an elemental but she's still down in that cell right now wondering if she'll come out of this alive! And to make things worse I try to give her hope but "surprise surprise" you won't give me anything!"
Twilight's teeth began to grind at the thought, Her head tilted down to the table. "The council will look at all evidence yes but they won't see a young girl lost, alone, and with no idea of how she got there." Twilight straightened herself looking directly into Cadence' eyes. "If you proceed with this you know as well as I do how this will turn out. So I ask one last time... why?"
Cadence sat quietly Twilight just maintained eye contact. Cadence let out a tired sigh before slouching over. Getting up from the chair she turned around and walked to the window. Twilight stayed in her seat waiting eyes glued onto her sister in law' back. "The day of the incident between her and the Lieutenant I got a letter...Private correspondence from Celestia herself." Cadence takes the letter out from under her dress and displays it over her shoulder. "She wants that girl. For what I have no idea. However you are correct. Celestia may be benevolent and fair but you really shouldn't trust her as much as you do."
"What are you talking about?"
"I'll be frank with you Twilight. These days I don't trust Celestia as far as I could throw her. The only reason I and Luna don't coup is because she keeps things peaceful. Besides that I hate her. I hate how she has handled the various crises of these past years. Sombra, Chrysliss, Tirek. It makes my blood boil. She uses you and still disrespects Luna as if your second class princess'. Don't even get me started on how she treats you when 'Equestria needs saving.' It's so pretentious." Cadence sighs her rant seemingly released a lot of built tensions.
"I don't believe you Cadence. It.. that is... It's impossible, it goes directly against everything Equestria has stood for over the last thousand years!"
sigh "I don't expect you to believe me Twilight. but you have my trust. You know her better than anyone. She trusts you. Just keep her calm about this and I'll see if I can't arrange a reduction of restraints to ease her worries."
Twilight smiles softly "I will thank you."
"You deserve it Twilight and I'm going to give you what you deserve." Twilight got up to leave but was stopped by a hand in her arm. "Twilight one last thing, you want the truth, don't ask Celestia review your own life as Celestia's student from the nightmare moon crisis to Tirek and beyond. Find the truth you can believe."
Twilight after a moment of thought nods.
"I understand Princess Cadence"
"Thank you for the time Twilight" Twilight nods again.
Cadence nods back letting go of Twilight's arm letting her leave. Things were about to get far more interesting. And though Cadence was sure this was the better choice she also knew things had only just gotten started. "Lets see how you handle your own issues Celestia."
It seemed Twilight had good negotiation skills as four guards had come into my cell an hour ago. Two worked to my restraints and two kept their spears on me. Can't blame them for that really I am this so called elemental being who is supposedly dangerous. They left the cuffs on my wrists and ankles along with the collor but lucky for me they slipped up.
Being in here four days alone had me so bored I actually started mediating as a way of passing the time. As it turns out this damp cell is covered in small water droplets and thanks to my powers I could feel them for lack of a better word. Sensing them doesn't really do the feeling justice. As I have these restraints holding my powers to a low level. Or as low as I could still go being a beginner. The only problem? I have no idea how much my powers have grown.
Only one way to find out.
But before I could begin I hear footsteps getting closer outside my cell.
"Hello soldiers how's our guest doing?" A familiar voice asked. oh no
"Sir! What are you doing here, Weren't you relieved?" A guard asked
"I was but I was asked to get our guest on her way. Orders from the crown I'm afraid."
"If this was happening today why haven't we heard before you came?" Asked another one of the guards seemingly female.
"Are you questioning the orders of your princess sergeant?" That voice no no no please no .
"Uhh,cough no sir!"
"Open the door" as the door swung open the source of the voice was all to clear.
"Lieutenant Sheild..." My voice held a rough tone of distain.
"Hello dear" he said his smile creeping me out more with each step. I rise to a somewhat defensive position. "Now now no need for further violence between us." He stopped half way between me and the door. The two guards from outside entered both carrying more of the same restraints from before. "Just let the guards do their jobs and no one will harm you. I'm sure you understand we can't take chances with one such as you?"
The two got closer.
"No! Get away from me" I pushed my hands in front of me trying to keep them back with a wall of water. But my powers were still well and truely restricted as the only thing I accomplished was splashing the three with only enough water to fill a drinking glass. damn this place and it's lack of water leaks! The guards continued their advance however they forgot one critical fact. I may not have much in terms of powers but I can still fight with my fists.
Crouching and shifting my feet I take the chains of my cuffs in my hands and wait.
Just get closer....
A little more...
And NOW! I throw my right hand in an arc catching the left male guard around his neck. I have to kick the female guard back as she rushes me from the right. As she cluches her gut I swing my left arm the same as before. Catching her the same I snap the chains taunt and they smash into one another. Both knocked cold as I let them fall.
"Impressive dear, very good indeed. You'll do just fine for us." I give him a questioning look as he looks outside the cell his head swinging back and fouth.
"What trick are you trying to pull this time?! I won't be fooled by the like of-"
"Shh shh shh be quiet do you want to be caught." He shushed me as he reapproches from the door.
"What the hell are you-" a hand covers my mouth silencing my questions.
"No time you've just screwed this whole operation now shut up so we can get out of here." I stared at him for a moment considering my option. What is up with this guy just a few minutes ago he was about to chain an cage me? Now he want to bust me out!?
Tearing his hand from my face I trip him bringing him to the floor.
"Now listen here you little shit stain I don't trust you or whatever convoluted scheme you've planned. So give one good reason I shouldn't strangle you and find a way out myself?" I applied more pressure to his neck. Making sure he knew where he was.
He coughed clearing his airway before speaking "If I wanted you dead I could've done it when you discovered your powers. No one but Princess Sparkle would have questioned it by the time of my report." I gave another glare under my nose. "Alright alright! Listen I can get you out. I know certain people who can help you but you must trust me or we're both screwed. Agreed?" He smiles slightly while I keep his eyes on mine. Taking the pressure off his throat he relaxes before I grab his neck and bring him close.
"If I think that your going to betray me I'll break your legs and leave you to die...got it?" He only nods his hands still off to his sides. "Good" I pull him up to his feet. "Lets get the hell out of here."
I start walking to the door when the Lieutenant calls from behind me.
"Wait! I can't just call you girl the entire time you need a proper name."
"Don't worry about it I already have a name chosen." He gives an annoyed look
"Would you be willing to share it?" I only roll my eyes and start walking again.
"The name's Katara"

Ok holy crap I'm sorry this took so long... almost what 9. 10 months ohh man work plus writers block and writing fatigue sucks.
Choices Defined
Sheild and I jogged through the dimly lit passages of the dungeon the only sound currently heard being our own feet and the rattling of my chains. We knew this wasn't going to last. I looked to the guard running beside me I was still nervous of him but right now wasn't the time for mistrust I had little choice if I wanted to see the light of day again. But he still needed convince me if I was to truly trust him.
"Hey Shield how are we gonna get out of here? I mean is their a secret way out or something?" Sheild huffed next to me tje two of us coming to a stop.
"No unfortunately no secrets here we have only one way out right out the front. I still have my story of your transportation thankfully so we should be able to go right out no problem."
"You don't sound very confident in that. Are you sure?" I asked trying to get a straight answer out of him. "Just shut up and do as I say. If all goes well we'll be out the front gate before they notice."
I looked to him. I can't believe he thinks this will work. At this point as I see it he is insane, a discredited lieutenant and a novice waterbender are supposed to get out of a heavily guarded castle alone. I really don't like this. Unfortunately I don't have a choice, especially if I want to stay away from whatever the princess of Equestria has in store for me.
...
Wait I have no idea what she has in store for me! Yes it could be bad but... shouldn't I trust Twilight?
Unhappy with my predicament I huff and turn walking ahead. Okay there's the door now all I have to do is-
....
"Shit"
In Canterlot
It had been a few days since news of a new elemental had graced Celestia. Currently the Princess was dealing with another noble moaning about how this newest elemental was 'threatening his way of life' and how ' Celestia just had to destroy these being before something disastrous happened'. Sadly he had a point there, the last thing Celestia needed was another attack on her ponies especially with the Elementals still resisting her rule. Knowing them as the opportunists they are it's highly likely take advantage of such a weak state.
"You have my word I shall deal with this new 'threat' accordingly. Thank you for your concerns. Now is their anything else?" Over the next two hours Celestia delt with two land disputes, a petty attempt at fraud, and of course price gouging...never a day without price gouging. However soon enough in walked a certain sister.
"Sister, hello what brings you here if I may ask?" Celestia asked not expecting Luna to arrive for another few hours.
"Well Tia, I have been in the library, archives, and historical records. What I've been looking for is some evidence of your rebellion claims. However what troubles me is I've found none." Celestia raised her head seeming ready for a confrontation however she only sighs and nods to her coruler.
"Come Luna I will divulge what I know." The two processed out of the throne room and down one of the many halls. "I had that information concealed. The exact reasons for the rebellion and fight as I stated it is in my quarters."
"I just hope it's not another one of your secret schemes.. finding them is getting redundant. "
Twilight walked down the hall towards the dungeon. Cadence's explanation of things had left her utterly perplexed. Celestia was like a mother to her and to hear some if the things Cadence had said it...it was so... she didn't know how to feel about it. Was it possible she wasn't being told what she needed to make the best decision? And Cadence' warning... would Celestia really...?
"Ugh" she groaned what was she thinking Celestia would never do anything like what Cadence was suggesting. The princess would never 'use' me! The mere suggestion is..is.. "Ugh!" Twilight groans again. Forget it what she says doesn't matter right now. Arriving at her destination Twilight starts opening the dungeon door. I just need to-...!
"Shit"
Twilight stared at the two before her. The Lieutenant and Felix were...attemping an escape. "So you don't trust me after all." Twilight whispered the bangs of her hair hinding her eyes in shadow.
Shield and I stood shock still at Twilight's sudden appearance. After staring at us for a moment she began to shiver.. no not shiver shake. I heard her mumble something. Before hell broke loose.
Sheild was vaulted against the wall with a sickening crack . Falling back I look at Twilight only to see her eyes. Full of hate and anger brimming with tears. Scrambling to my feet I bolt back only to trip over my own feet.
Jogging with chains is not a problem. Trying to sprint forget it! As I begin running again I hear her call for more guards followed by the echoed clak. clak. claking of their boots. Taking a hard corner my restraints seize up bringing me face first with the cold stone floor. Looking down I see a small fissure in the stone. Latching on I pull opening a small passage. Quickly as I possibly can I drag myself in and use my feet to bring the cover back over the hole.
I have never considered myself lucky but if I survive today I will worship whatever god has blessed me this day. Making my way down the small cold crawlspace I soon fall into... water? "Wait sniff sniff oh come on!" Plugging my nose I continue on through waist deep sludge, crap, and who knows what else. I can't believe I fell in here but after what seemed to be another ten to fifteen minutes I found some good news. Up ahead it was opening up.
I knew their is always a..way...out?
"Why me?" I moan as I find myself at a three way junction. The way out could by any of these. Thinking I tried picking up on where the current was strongest which led me to the far left tunnel. I just hoped my intuition was right. It was getting harder to focus on the task at hand. I don't know much but inhaling this many different gases wasn't good for me I needed to hurry.
Still wading through the water I began to notice a change..the water was getting faster, lower, and ever so slightly it wasn't as gunked up with debris. I smiled I was almost there. As the water reach my knees I began to sway. Shit the fumes are getting to me I have to double time it before I pass out.
Stumbling again I can see something as I lean against the crusted wall of the pipe.
Is that light?... yes! Oh yes it's the exit. Finally I see the light of the sun again. Reaching out in my fume indused haze I touch...a wall. A wall of ice. It covers almost the entire opening of the pipe.
"No... No! I have come too far to be taken down by a candy ass wall of ice water." Focusing on the the chilling water around my ankles I feel waves start to form I widen my stance taking the frozen chains of my wrists and wrenching apart snapping them and sending me sprawling on my butt.
Focusing once more I find a numbing power coursing through my body. Snapping my eyes open I force all the strength I have towards the block of ice.
The ice creaks and sqeaks with the force before loudly cracking and falling out. The light beyond blinding me as I shut my eyes. Slowly opening again I have a hard time as my vision is mostly spots. The fresh air filling my lungs causeimg coughs and gags to erupt from my throat.
But nothimg can keep the smile off my face.
Finally I am free.
Getting out of the prison and sewer system underneath was one thing but now I'm face with a challenge I've never had before. I thought it was just winter or something but oh no how wrong I was.
The whole area was simply a desolate tundra and ice pack. All I had on was light clothes more suited for a temperate climate or the tropics rather than this hellscape. I am were already losing the battle with the cold. My pants were frozen some time ago and I briefly considered going back to the pipe but quickly dismissed that idea as it would just kill me faster.
So I trudged on through almost knee deep snow. Fortunately for me the weather was clear at least when I left the pipe so I had no problem finding my way. Unfortunately It hadn't meant to be and with the arrival of an overcast I have no idea what time it is so I don't know which way is south.
It's just getting colder now. I don't know where I am. Collapsing to me kmees in the snow I curl up. Through my vision of white I see someone approaching. No not someone something. The now brown blotch in my vision gets closer. I concede to my fate, passing out as it appears above me in this white abyss.
Twilight was baffled simply baffled! Felix had just dissappeared from the dungeon. No trace to be found. After she had slammed sheild into the stone wall the girl had sprinted off back into the stone corridors. Twilight had soon followed with two full squads. She was nowhere to be found. The only others to be found were her previous guards in her cell.
Thinking of potential possibilities a guard approached. "Sergeant what do you have to report." The guard saluted. "We have found where the prisoner dissappeared to your highness."
"Lead the way." Twilight stated as she followed. The two came to a small hatch in the floor. When they stopped Twilight could only place a hand over her eyes. "Dear Celestia she went through the sewage system." She could be anywhere in the empire. "Lieutenant Light! Gather the 8th recon squadron and the 31st special operations regiment. I want her found now! Sergeant Quatom I want you to interrogate Shock Sheild find out what he knows."
"Yes Princess!" All parties salute scampering off to their assigned tasks. Twilight took a breath Celestia wasn't going to be happy. Heading back towards the throne room Twilight found Cadence and Shining being briefed by the guard Captain Red Feather named for a distinctive red primary on his right wing. Twilight stood quietly next to the door waiting for the captain to finish.
After Red Feather finish Shining spoke up."Thank you for the report captain however you'll need to pull those formations back here."
"May I ask why your highness?" She asked not taking her attention off him.
"The reason is due to the coming overcast from the northwest the temperature will dip and it's entirely possible the weather could turn worse. Get those troops back in the capital before dark. we'll have to continue the search tomorrow."
Red Feather salutes again and jogs out. With that finished Twilight approaches. "Any news on where she could have gone, those tunnels go all over."
"Nothing yet however as you already know we can't risk looking for her in the coming storm. It's entering autumn and with the season change comes more than just rain or a chilled wind. Sleet, snow and more extremes are coming soon."
"I'm sorry Twilight I know how you hate these things" Shining apologies.
Twilight only shakes her head. "Don't worry about me, worry about what happens next especially considering Celestia." Shining and Cadence' eyes grew wide with worry. Twilight was right no elemental had escaped her before. Star above only knows how she'll react.
"You don't have to pester me I'll rest for now. I'll send the report tomorrow morning. Hopefully Celestia will be in a listening mood after her coffee."
The next day the castle is in a silent state of chaos. Twilight had sent over a revised report concerning the girl they had contained. From what the report said and another Celestia ordered from Cadence with additional details regarding the situation in the north. It was confirmed the elemental had in fact escaped due to a double agent. After some very colorful emotional turmoil courtesy of a certain sun queen.. Celestia and Luna began discussing a course of action. How they were to respond was still undecided.
Especially with the northern plains late year weather rolling in from the west.
However the problem that plagued them was not only the treacherous northern weather but how to ensure no panic ensues within Canterlot.
Many higher nobles and citizens always held the elementals as being savages or uneducated brutes with freakish mutations. Complaints about those within the city was a common occurrence. As there's at least a few dozen here unable or unwilling to leave. That wasn't the issue however. The problem currently was these same stupid nobles could incite a political frenzy using the events in the empire if said information slipped.
"So sister what is the verdict, how shall we deal with this, troop deployment along the mountain passes or perhaps other means?" Luna asked the discussion coming to a close after hours of various solutions coming and going.
"Luna don't imply such a thing your better than being a hypocrite." Celestia scolded catching her sisters darker undertones.
Luna can only give a unamused deadpan stare at her sister.
"Really Tia a hypocrite, you'll call us a hypocrite? Were you not the one who said she was certain Tirek woild be unable to absorb all the magic in equestria or that discord would deal with him when the time came?" Things were getting heated and that was Luna overstepped "Or shall I bring up your reaction to Sombra or perhaps your lack there of?" Celestia steps back shocked at Luna' sudden rebuke.
"You swore never to bring that up!" Luna grins mischievously "Well Tia if you are so insistent on hypocritical actions and statements than perhaps I'll let Twilight decide. I'm sure she'd love to learn all about it."
"Ok ok you made your point" Celestia rubs her head trying to prevent the coming headache. "We'll station guards a few miles from the border to prevent this girl from entering without us knowing. In the meantime however Raven!" Said pony entered the room quickly and responded.
"Yes Princess how can I help?" Raven asked in her always helpful and professional demenor.
"Send a message to Twilight Sparkle I want her out of the empire on the first available train after these storms let up. And notify Lieutenant Colonel Spare in the northern Vanhoover barrack to set a patrolling routes along the empire border. Tell him he is to come to me for further details."
"Right away Princess." Raven bowed and trotted off to complete her task.
Slowly I start to wake up wherever I seemingly am. My stiff body refusing to move as I wake. It's strange I feel warm and as I start to move my feet a muscle spasm ripples through my body. I moan out and shake uncontrollably for a few moments before as brief chill encompassing my body as I reconnect with the waking world. Opening my eyes I find myself in... a tent?
Ok first why am I not dead? Or in I don't know a coma, Or...am I dreaming? Pulling the large blanket off I press my nails into my leg. "Ow!" Yep I'm alive dreams don't have pain only stomach dropping fear. Having gained my bearings I start to curl my legs. It seems my body is not feeling as well as I believe as I can't keep collapsing repeatedly from the cold and weakened feeling sweeping through my muscles.
I must have made some noise during this as after my third attempt at standing I feel a hand grip my shoulder and lower me back into a sitting position. "You shouldn't be trying to rise just yet miss." A voice says from my right. Looking I see a young woman with large curled brown locks smiling down at me.
"W-wharr" I try in vain to speak only for my vocal cords to give out while I croak. Coughing racks me as I realize just how dry my throat is. How long have I been out?
"Here, drink now ask later. You've been out for some time now, the elders were starting to fear you'd never wake." After a few gulps of cold water I coughed and cleared my throat. "Who and ..where?"
I look up at her her hazel eyes looking down apon me as if she is an angel. She smiles gently running her fingers through my hair. The motion calms my racing mind and relaxes my body. "Calm yourself dear you'll have your questions answered in time. For now just rest some, I've to inform the elders and then I'll return with something for you to eat alright?" I nod as she lays me back down and quickly runs out of the tent.
...
...
...
Laying there was getting stale so I went to drink the water I was provided when I started inspecting the tent around me. From what I could see it seemed to just be some kind of quick service tent. Seemingly used for an emergency like mine. Close by was a small fire lit to give heat from the terrible cold. Along the wall I spotted small boxes and rolled fabrics. Most probably medical srorage.
That's when I heard a shuffle off to my left. Peering over I spot a small girl with lime green eyes and brown pigtails spying on my from behind another flap in the tent. "Hello there" I say gently trying to be as calm and non threatening as to coax out her more curious nature. As she slowly appears prop myself up on my elbows and bring my body up to a comfortable sitting position.
Outside the tent a young woman approaches, her meeting with the elders was quick and to the point. Now that the girl had awoken she was to come see the elders as soon as possible. For now however isane was to get the girl on her feet and get her familiar with the village and surrounding area. In her hands was a nice local dish hot and ready.
This dish consists of a sliced potato lightly salted with broccoli and diced raw fish. Not the best but after what seemed to be a horrible near death experience it's no doubt better than what this poor girl was given by the equestrians. Isane shuttered at the memory quickly putting it out of her mind. No need for that now focus on the girl. Help her now, worry about the equestrians later.
Quietly pushing the flap aside I spot the girl propping herself up looking to her left. Following her gaze I see a certain someone who isn't suppose to be there. "Ava Sosa Issaquah why are you in here?" The daughter in question fliched as she pulled in on herself. Putting their guests meal down she walked over to Ava. Bendimg at the waist she was about to scold her but a voice cut her off.
"Hey!"
From what I could gather the older women I'd woken up with was this girls mother. While I understood why she was angry that doesn't mean I need to agree with it. Looking in front of her I her daughter draw into herself. Clearly very destressed by her mothers word. Her eyes full of curiosity and intrege moments ago now full of fear. While she was focused and distracted by her daughter I shuffled over and used the pole in the middle of the tent to give me the leverage I needed to stand.
"Hey" I raised my voice grabbing her attention away from the girl who was seemingly named Ava. The mother turned herself to me as I bent my knees trying to steady myself. "Are you really yelling at your young daughter because she was curious? You know like children naturally are." I slowly approached her still unsure about how reliable my muscles are after not being used for multiple days in a row.
"What's your name?" I figure it's only right I get her name before continuing on our topic.
"It's Isane, and who do you think you are telling me how to parent my daughter?" Her anger rose at my intervention. Instead of lecturing her I took a few steps and layed a hand on her shoulder.
"Look I understand, you told Ava here one thing and she did the opposite but are you really surprised by that. Is she not a curious rambunctious little girl who will from time to time not do what you want? Is that worth emotionally harming your daughter and possibly stifling her willingness to gain knowledge about the world around her?"
"She disobeyed me. Have you ever heard of the saying Curiosity killed the cat."
"Yes and satisfaction brought it back. Your daughter or any child has the ingrained desire to explore and learn just like you or your mother before you." I turn to Ava still standing to the side watching us talk. "Ava dear why did you come in here and go against your mothers wishes?"
"I... I'm sorry" as she starts her voice is coming off in waves. I don't need to be a parent to see she is trying not to cry.
"It's alright, just take a breath. In...and out.." I demonstrate as I signal for her to copy me. We take a few deep breaths and after she is much calmer. "Now just tell the truth okay?"
"I just wanted to know who was here and if they were okay. I know it's not fun to be hurt." I smile at her sincere words and look back at Isane.
"So are you planning on punishing her for this?"
"She still needs to know what she did was wrong." I scowl at the women In front of me. Clearly she hasn't been around children very often.
"Your right lets ask, Ava?" I turn back. "I appreciate what your trying to do but please listen to your mother next time. It may seem that she's being unfair but she is older and with age comes experience. With experience, wisdom. She may be wrong at times but that doesn't mean you can just go behind her back okay. Do you understand?" I ask smiling and gently rubbing my thumb on her cheek before I walk back over to where I was resting before and collapsed down exhausted from the in pain my legs.
Ava and Isane for their part silently watched as I relaxed before turning back to each other. Ava ran into her mother lightly crying. Soft words of sorry mommy I'm sorry graced my ears as Isane for her part stood there shocked at how I'd handled things so casually and still got the message through. Breaking out of her shock a moment later I watched, a smile gracing my face as mother and daughter shared a heart warming embrace.
Looking to the food on the stool I rubbed my legs. I should've grabbed that before sitting back down.
A very awkward period of time and a stomach growl later I was given the food Isane had brought with her. Asking my name had made me pause before I told her it was Katara. Douche yeah, perhaps I could have choose something else but screw you it's a great name already in use. If it's not broke don't fix it. While I ate Isane asked how I felt and I commented on my legs and energy.
Ava simply relaxed laying her head on my lap. Trying and succeeding to be quite comforting.
Isane moving to my legs assured me both were relatively normal for someone in my situation. Hypothermia combined with the inadequate food she stated I'd been given in the cell. I asked how she'd know about the food and she realized her tongue slipped and grew silent as she began to massage and move my legs. I took her silence as the signal to shut up. After another few minutes of eating she spoke up again.
"How did you know how to deal with my daughter like that? I've never seen anything like that."
"Well I had three brothers and a very patient father growing up. Along with a cousin who filled in after my mother passed. Couple that with many younger cousins over the years and a part-time job in retail and you begin to understand how children think and how to deal with them in a way they understand." She only looks at me with a confused stare. "It's uh more simple than I make it sound. Don't worry I'm sure you'll pick up on it in time."
"Thank you for your help Katara. But let me be clear, disregard and disrespect me in front of my daughter or the village for that matter and you'll wish we'd left you in that blizzard. Clear?" Ava pouted at her mother comments telling her not to be mean to guests as the elders don't like it.
We both chuckled before looking at Isane locking onto her deep green eyes maintaining eye contact I responded. "Clear ma'am" she nods and continues massaging my lower legs. Slowly but surely I feel myself regaining my strength.
"So do you enjoy your meal?" She asked smiling at me with that look only a mother can conquer up.
"I did very much, thank you Isane." She smiled once again. "So you said something about elders earlier what is all that about?"
"Oh, I was unaware that you were coherent when I said that. I thought you were just talking in your sleep."That made me chuckle.
"If I weren't coherent I wouldn't have tried at all. If I know myself I would've just passed back out" that made her chuckle.
"Anyway what's the deal with these elders of yours?" Isane pouted her mouth thinking of how to word her answer.
"Instead of me telling you would you like to meet them yourself?" She asked trying to incite my curiosity. It worked out as she intended. Waking Ava from my lap Isane helped me up supporting part of my weight as she guided me out of the tent. As the flap opened the light blinded me for a moment before adjusting quickly. The snowcapped peaks surrounding the valley, the crisp cool air flowing over me reminding me of calm fall days long past.
"Whoa" was all I could get out of my mouth at the sight. Isane giggled into my ear. "Enjoying the view Katara" I nodded. "Not one you often see back home no?"
"No I, I've seen snowcapped mountains before I lived not far from a major range back home. But I've just never been this close" the awe must have been quite evident from such a question. Taking a deep breath I relaxed before slipping away from Isane grip and raking a few steps forward. One thought made itself known in the front of my mind.
I think I'm going to enjoy this.

How are you liking the story so far, any changes you wish to see? Perhaps character perspectives? Let me know I'll do what I can.
It appeared that the tent I was in was outskirts of the village. I wanted to ask but Isane said we were on a time crunch since the elders wanted to see me quickly. So with that Isane had led me through the heart of the village where I was given one hell of introduction to her people. Most everyone greeted me as if I were one of their own coming home from a long journey. Although I did notice a few individuals who gave me the stink eye.
All this seemed strange to me. I suppose those like me are not so prevalent this far north but not everyone was ignorant. If they know I'm a elemental as Twilight had called me maybe things could be- . I shake my head stopping the thought dead. Don't jink it. No need for that now . I took a small breath of the cool air surrounding me reassuring and relaxing my body. They have no quarrel with me. Hell maybe Isane knows and doesn't care? It clear the elders know however. I need to distract myself from this . "Hey Isane" I grab her attention. "What can you tell me about these elders of your we're going to see? Is there anything I need to know before hand? Any traditions or proper respects?"
Isane lit up at that seeming really excited at the proposition of talking about her culture. "Of course we do But I'm not so sure it would be a good if you attempted such a thing so soon" Isane gives me an awkward smile. "Most visitors try to respect our traditions in such a way when they come here buuuuttt most just end up embarrassing themselves. To say it's a bad idea is an understatement. The elders and most older members don't take kindly to it and it's seen more as a mockery than respect" Finishing her explanation Isane rubs the back of her head.
"So just try and be a normal respect your elders as I would an individual....got it" I said uneasily understanding that I really shouldn't do anything over to top. I hadn't asked what happened to those who showed up and disrespected the elders. Frankly I don't think I want to find out. Finishing my thoughts with a slight cringe I notice the architecture around us. "Hey Isane I just had a thought If you guys have the ability to build like this why was I in a tent?"
"For sone reason the elders decided to house you outside the town to limit damage should you be dangerous. We didn't know if you were since at the time all we knew for certain is that you came from the south. I'm sorry Katara." Isane bowed her head to me. The sight of this kind woman who rescued me from certain death bowing her head like a scolded child rubbed me the wrong way.
"Come on it's okay I-I understand your reasons. Really.." I say as I gently lay my hand on Isane' shoulder I feel her tense as if ready to run. She must have been scared of my reaction for the whole walk . I take a hold of her shoulders and bring her into an embrace. I may not be very experienced in helping distraught people but more often you don't need to be.
Isane' head rests on my shoulder as I speak. Trying to eleviate her fear with a calm voice. "Look Isane I understand why you and yours put me in the tent. You don't need to feel bad." I rub her back as I soothe her slowly. "Look for now why don't we continue to the elders then after we sort all this out I promise we'll talk more alright?"
Isane looked up from my shoulder her eyes glistening with excess tears from her turmoil. I pull her back into me as I begin to speak into her ear. "Just calm...calm. Breath in...and out." Isane matches my instruction. I feel her body shutter. "Once more" I say my voice still light and steady. "In... and out.... better?" I see Isane wipe a few tears away she sniffles and I lock our eyes.
"Y-yes I do feel better.. how did..?"
"How did I successfully get you to calm down when you were so upset?" My face displaying a friemdly calm smile. "Lets just say this isn't the first time a friend needed my shoulder to let out emotional trouble." Isane' shocked face says it all as I give another smile,a pat on the shoulder and start walking towards the direction I assume the elders are.
"Hey!" Isane' voice stops me I look to see her giving me a look. Her foot tapping expectedly as she stands at the turn off I hadn't seemed to notice.
"What's with that look?" I ask with a raised eyebrow "Isn't this the way we were going?"
"Well it was but we need to go this way to get there. But if you'd rather go the wrong way to the wrong side of the village and possibly I don't know get robbed be my guest..."
...
I only flap my mouth a few times before looking the way I was going, back to Isane them chuckling and motioning for her to lead the way. Soon we arrive outside the elders large home.
"Alright here we are." The wood comprising the stucure is cracked in places clearly giving off how weathered the building is from the climate within this valley. "Please Katara remember what we have discussed and don't do anything rash." Isane says her gaze turning hard.
I take a breath and reach for the flap.
Back in the empire
Twilight stared at the various papers around her. The past few days have been hectic and stressful for all involved. The local guard have been scowering the area around every designated outlet for the castle. Now she looked over the reports of what was found. So far nothing but snow snow and more snow. No evidence of 'Felix' or where she'd went. We all had ideas about where she went but nothing had shown any to be confirmed.
Lifting another page report this one seemed to be from the northwestern sector. Scanning the page Twilight came across little to help the ongoing investigation. Sighing she rubbed her temples in frustration. Before she could pick up the next paper a knock sounded from the door.
"It's open" the door opened to the multi colored mane of her sister in law. Said sister in law took one look at her young relative and shook her head.
"Twilight what are you doing? You were supposed to leave when the weather cleared up an hour ago?!" Cadence found the statement of that fact was followed by Twilight having a mental run in with shock.
"What?!" Twilight stated looking out the window to find that yes in fact Cadence was correct. The weather had cleared and the train she had meant to be leave in had left. Twilight groaned flopping face first onto the desk with a thud. "Dammit I'm sorry Cadence."
Cadence light chuckle even if a tad surprised at Twilight' control of her panic. "If I may Twilight might I ask what has you preoccupied?" Although the question itself was obvious to anyone with eyes Cadence found it helped Twilight put her thoughts to words when trouble found her mind.
"I was just going over the scouting reports. I was trying to find a connection between any evidence found and where Felix could have gone."
Cadence smiled and shook her head "Twilight, who do you think those go to before your able to read them? Twilight opened her mouth briefly before quietly closing it with an embarrassed look. Cadence couldn't gave that.
"Say it Twilight.."
"Please don't make me repeat it."
"Twilight....."
"Ugh fine, the scout report to the squad leaders. Who pass the reports to the platoon captain. Who then pass it up past the battalion commander to Shining who fills you in after ensuring no mistakes in the details."
Cadence smiles "Bingo! There is no need for your stress Shining and I sent the reports to Celestia yesterday. You know the structure it's not so hard. You just need to practice like Shining did when you were younger."
Twilight rolled her eyes at Cadence teasing "Ha ha so funny"
"Alright alright I'll stop. Now you need to go. pushing Twilight towards the door. The next train to Canterlot leaves in an hour and a half. Celestia needs your help."
Twilight dug her shoes into the floor.
"Wait waitwait! I thought you said you don't trust Celestia, why are you pushing me to go now?"
Cadence' smile faded and she ran her hand through her hair. "I... I may have let my emotions get the better of me when I said that. I didn't truly mean everything that I said. My grievance with auntie is not so black and white. It's not that I don't trust her it's just.... the way she goes about some of these situations through the years has me...." she quiets weighting the words she wishes to use. "Lets say I've just been more disagreeable than most when it come to how to deal with certain things. Do you want an example?"
Twilight nods
Cadence pulses her lips in thought. "Okay lets take the disaster with Tirek. When he emerged I wanted to agree with you. Hit him while he's weak, end it before it's a threat. You following?" Twilight nods again.
"Right, however when thing began to turn for the worse I fell in behind Celestia. My though process was she faced gim before defeated him even. She can do it again." Cadence looked to the painting of her and Shining behind the desk. "I realized to late I was wrong. After the whole thing I asked her about everything. She just brushed it off. Saying everything was fine" Cadence scoffed and took a breath to calm her nerves.
"The point is Twilight while I follow Celestia when she needs me that time in my life showed my not to have blind faith." She layed a hand on Twilight' shoulder. "Because sometimes those we look up to are not always right."
Twilight closed her eyes and gripped Cadence' hand. "That was enlightening Cadence. I...appreciate your honesty on this. I'm glad your not turning rebel."
"Turning rebel? Twilight... I'm insulted by the thought. Equestria is my home I would never harm it." The two smiled coming together for a hug. Relief began flooding the two as a calm sense of relaxation replaced the stress of the previous days.
The meeting with the elders had been going for hours now. The questions were ceaseless, the annoying jabs at my character had been plentiful. Now we soon reached the end with one question remained.
"Are you a threat to our people?"
The question gave my pause. It was something I hadn't considered a possible outcome from all this. What happened to these people if Twilight came and found me or....Celestia did? Can I take that chance. Looking to the elders awaiting my answer I took a breath... And nodded my head "No, I swear I am no threat and will not bring harm to you or your people."
I knew with those few words I'd made a grave mistake.

Yes the people I'm referring to in the village such as Isane, Ava and such are the Yaks. Sorry I don't specify.
