The winds of Equestria were still. The trails and paths that dotted Ponyville's landscape fell silent. No birds chirped. The clouds were not being moved and adjusted. The animals that inhabited the various parts of the village made no sounds or noise. Not a single dog barking or cat screeching. This type of silence is incredibly unfamiliar to the denizens of Ponyville. The inhabitants of the village stopped dead in their tracks. But there was a particular detail which added to the silence. All of the citizens of the village were looking up. All in one direction. Their pupils shrunk in fear, shock, and awe. Their jaws agape. Those who tended to their gardens dropped their hoses or pottery. The various shops and stores that were normally busy this time of day became reminiscent of a ghost town. But instead of being empty, the normal shopgoers were there, but also became still. The cooks, waiters and waitresses of bakeries and restaurants have all stopped paying mind to various foods and platters that were being prepared. One of the residents trotted slowly forward, eyes still fixated on what they were seeing in a futile attempt to get a closer look. They attempted to come up with numerous theories as to the objects they fixated their gaze upon. Could this be a dream? Or a nightmare? Hundreds of thoughts flooded through their head in a vain attempt to explain the unexplainable.

Canterlot was no different.

The streets of the hustling and bustling city were quiet. The music that was occasionally heard from different plazas to add atmosphere to the city have stopped. The only sounds that were made were the subtle streams of running water from various fountains around the city. The upper class, lords, and nobles all looked up in the exact same direction. All of them with the exact same expression. The royal guard that normally patrolled the city have their eyes locked on the strange anomalies above them.

At Canterlot Castle, the servants and tendants to the beautiful building that they serviced were looking out the windows of their structure. The royal guards who were tasked with protecting the servants, tendants, and princesses they served also stared out of the windows in the direction everypony else looked. This is an event that none of them ever thought they would witness. It was unnatural.

At the top of the castle, the tallest pillar housed two familiar figures on its balcony. One as white as the purest snow, and another as blue as a moonlit night. These two figures stood still, muzzles aimed towards the sky, eyes locked on the unknown objects that loom above them at a distance. They are loyal rulers to the region of Equestria they direct and guide. Two goddesses of immense power now taken aback by what they're seeing. They stared up, not in shock, fear, or awe. But concern. Concern into what lies ahead in the future. Regardless of their power, no amount of foresight could have predicted this event. Could this be a new threat? One of unimaginable power? One to change the course of history of Equestria forever? An omen perhaps? These rulers stood there, processing many questions while the anomalies stayed perfectly still, hanging there in their sky.

Minutes prior to this event, booms were heard in the sky. Booms that resonated like distant thunder and lightning. One by one, these large, pillar-shaped objects beamed in at incredible speeds piercing the bright blue sky, cutting sound in two like the crack of a whip. When they beamed in, they stopped as suddenly as they came. They are a dark gray color, and at the rear ends of them are multitudes of large and small dots that glowed a darkish blue, flames bursting out of them like a concentrated torch. As the objects settled, so did the flames. On the body of these objects are small lights that were lit up like fireflies, all in a symmetrical line down the sides of them. Also on the sides of them were large emblems, or symbols that were not easy to make out at a distance. There were ten of them in number disturbing the skies of Equestria with their intimidating presence.

At a large, tree-like castle back in Ponyville, a particular purple pony also stared up at these strange objects along with her small dragon friend up on the highest balcony of their tall structure. Her ears were lowered and pupils dilated as she stared at the anomalies in sheer astonishment. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Was this real? Or some kind of premonition? She certainly was no stranger to visions of events that have happened in her life prior to now, but at this very moment, she debated with herself about the possibilty of something like this even happening. She quickly turned back and galloped into her castle. After a short gallop through the large corridors, she happened upon her library. She bursted through the door that led inside and stopped, now standing in the center of the room, quickly looking around in a sense of panic. In a moments notice, using her magic, she began frantically pulling out book after book in her library. Hundreds of books began floating in the air now encircling her. With complete disregard to organization, she brought book after book close to her face, frantically looking at cover after cover, desperately skimming through written words and flipping through the pages of each and every book she levitated to her trying to find an answer or explanation to this event. To those that didn't provide anything, or anything relavant, she abruptly tossed aside. After scrounging, and practically destroying, the entire library she stopped to give herself some thought as to what to do next. The library floor now covered in strewn about books. After a minute or two of thinking and processing, she gasped and remembered the restricted section in Canterlot Castle's library. Turning back and galloping out of her library, she slipped and slid as she exited trying to make a turn down the corridor, now hitting the wall across the library with a thud. She caught herself after a moment, and began galloping down the corridor opposite from where she initially came, now heading back towards the balcony. Once she reached it, she leaped over the protective railing and spread her feathered wings, flapping them as hard and as fast as she could manage. She soared through the skies over Ponyville at speeds that were surprising even to her.

As she flew towards Canterlot, she began thinking to herself. 'If I can't find answers to what's going on in Canterlot's library, then either Princess Celestia or Luna could explain what's happening here. If they can't... then Equestria's future might be on the line!'
