Fluttershy sat at her window, gazing out into the vast lands of Equestria before her.

Things had changed over the years. She’d made new friends, saved the world countless times, and she was proud of her own personal growth. Yes, she had come a long way from the timid pony she once was-and she was proud of herself. She was proud of herself for standing strong, happy for her animal sanctuary, and thankful for all the wonderful friendships she’d made along the way. I mean, Twilight was going to be Princess of all equestria soon-of course she was thankful!

But something was still missing. Something that she’d been feeling for awhile. Except it wasn’t really something, it was more somepony... The Pegasus bit her lip, looking down at the floor as her thoughts consumed her.

Discord. Over the years, their friendship had grown so strong-she didn’t know what she had ever done without him! But as the time went on, she felt them grow from something that.. went beyond just “best friends.”

Was it love? She couldn’t be sure-she had never been in love before, but she knew that it was something real. She knew it was something that she needed to share with him, but she also knew that she was afraid. Afraid.. of what might happen, and of what he might say-

She stopped herself mid thought when she felt her breathing speed up. Deep breaths she thought to herself. Surely Discord wouldn’t be mad even if he didn’t refute the same feelings, but she didn’t want to take the chance. That, or she was too afraid of hearing him say that he didn’t feel the same towards her.

“Now you’re just being silly.” She said to herself as she hopped off the chair. Maybe it would be better for her if she got it off her chest. Right! That’s what she would do. And so she went straight to her kitchen, and started making plans for their next tea party, where she would tell him everything.

In a cave, deep in the rural areas of Equestria, Discord shed his disguise as Grogar when no one was around. “Enough of that!” He snapped his fingers, before walking through a seemingly rock wall. Inside were his chambers-at least, the ones he used in his “villain lair.” It had been a lot of work keeping up the charade, but Chrysalis, Cozy Glow, and Tirek seemed to buying it-which was all that mattered to him.

Yes, ever since Twilight Sparkle had so stubbornly refused to believe she could rule Equestria, he had set his plan into motion. And how perfect was it?! He always did have a knack for manipulation, and now he was using it to help somepony! Fluttershy would be so proud, he thought.

Ah yes, Fluttershy. Discord glanced around the room. The furniture it did have, was levitating, and in a corner, a cloud of chocolate rain poured freely in its own spot of chaos. But on the wall, there was one perfect, undisrupted piece of furniture: a small picture frame with a picture of him and Fluttershy inside.

He smiled softly to himself as he looked upon her happy smile, and those beautiful eyes. When this was all over, he planned on telling her exactly how he felt. He would tell her everything: his entire plan, his goals, and how much he learned about friendship from it all. And how all of this was because of the lessons she taught him.

“Oh Celestia..” he muttered to himself, still lost in the picture of the two of them. How long had it been since he knew that he loved her?

Yes-he did love her, didn’t he? Truthfully, he wasn’t sure if he even knew what was love even was-that was, until he met Fluttershy. Now, he was 1000%, without a doubt, absolutely-positively certain that he loved her. He’d known he cared for her since before he saved her from Queen Chrysalis’s hive. He’d known that he wanted to be with her from the day he made the awful mistake of siding with Tirek. The day he almost lost her.

But he learned he loved her just a week prior. The day that King Sombra had tried again, to take over Equestria. While.. yes, this was technically Discord’s own doing, he completely expected the ponies to handle it. They always had a remarkable way of solving things, which even he had to admit was pretty amazing.

It had all changed when Sombra sent that blast, flying towards Fluttershy. Where his first instinct had been to protect her-to shield her from all harms way. It was that moment. That defining moment, that told him that what he’d feeling was love.

Fluttershy felt her nerves rising again, as she double checked her checklist. She felt as though she was becoming Twilight with the rate she was going. But she needed to make sure the kind of tea she made was right. And of course, for such an occasion, a new tea set was in order, as well as new sandwich recipes and-

She stopped herself, and smiled. It would be fine. This was Discord! He didn’t need anything perfect or fancy, for Celestia’s sake. Fluttershy glanced to the calendar that hung on her wall. There were only three more days until the Tuesday that was marked with a big X.

“Three days.” She whispered to herself. “Three days until I tell him everything.”

In the hidden cave, Discord made a timeline of his plans. His checklist floated upside down in front of him, and anything that was written seemed barely readable, but still be studied it meticulously.

Once this was all complete, he could tell her. Once Fluttershy and her friends had settled into their roles with helping rule Equestria, and Twilight had the throne: he would tell her. Not a second before, not a second after. It would be absolutely perfect.

“Let’s see.. if I planned everything right-and I always do..” he snapped his fingers, and another planner levitated in front of him. “Mhmm.” He glanced over it.

“Three months.” The draconequus half smiled to himself.
“Three months and I can tell her everything.”

Hey everycreature! So.. first fanfic here! No guarantee as to how long it’s going to be-this is just mainly based on how I imagine Fluttershy and Discord’s relationship would’ve been in s9 and right after! Criticism is of course welcome, but be easy on me! Haha I haven’t written and published fan fiction like this in about.. 4 years!
