Mobile Suit Gundam: Lost Luminity
Chapter 1
Previous ChapterNext ChapterJohn came back to his cabin. The clash at the canteen really makes him think of the possibility of doing what they want. As Johan acknowledged, John didn’t dare to break military protocol. Sometimes it’s okay to stay up late or eat a bit more than average, but escaping the base is a whole new level. Not only it is heavily prohibited, as the commander said “Because of Federation policies, personnel from the base must not leave it by all means, unless it was authorized by the local authority and the commanders' ', as well as how far the town was. The base and the town, separated by the bay itself, only connected by a road with barely any lighting…
“But… There is a regular supply line that was maintained by trucks from the town to here. Maybe we can infiltrate the guards and climb into a truck so it can take us to the town.”
According to some personnel that has already stationed at the base before, they really never let anyone get out of base by foot or by waterways. Only the truck that was driven by someone behind the dark glass the supply from space can get in and get out of Maretime Base.
“By the way, they searched the truck very carefully.” A personnel told his friend while he was checking his mobile suit.
…
In the hangar consisted of 4 humanoid machines; his suit was the most eye-attracted object. It was a weird looking mobile suit that would bring a feel that it was incomplete if looking at it: there is some exposed-weird looking armor that, according to his engineer, it was a psycho frame. He doesn’t know what that is, but he just guesses they added it to the suit to enhance defending capability. On its edgy head, the suit has a long horned antenna and a GM-like face, but with a smaller sensor than it should. Its white paint with some black armor section added to its attractiveness amongst the black mobile suit that was called Jesta.
“Woah! Neat machine, dude! A test unit, I think!”
His friend, named Hover, was totally blown away when the cloth that covered John’s machine was pulled out.
“Look… look at it! Look just like the RX-0s, but kinda unfinished, eh?”
“Yeah… Kind of…” John answered.
Being a test pilot could be troublesome to him, even though he doesn't have to fight. According to his commander, John was an excellent pilot. But the commander notices that he has some trouble firing rifles, more specifically, aiming. Lieutenant Margot, his former commander, said that he often hesitated to shoot since his hand was too shaky to effectively lock the enemy.
“You have morale problems, John?” she asked in one of the practices, “I notice that you are very hesitant to lock the enemy, look like you have trouble with guns…”
“I… I don’t know…”
“But you have immensely good saber skills. Looks like you will have to pilot some Zeon’s suit… An Efreet may be…”
…
While the couple was still looking at the white machine, suddenly, from nowhere, Johann showed up. His large hand instantly grab John’s collar and drags him across the hangar to a deserted corner, pushing him over the wall. He looked around for a while before turned to John:
“Why don’t you show up at the gate!” he growled, “I said see me at 8pm!”
“Why do you have to break military protocol for your entertainment?”
“Because I would die if I didn't have anything to do here! I… I… simply… Listen, coward! I don’t have time to explain, but we have to get to the main gate as fast as possible. I just heard that there are 2 or 4 trucks that are just coming here. I just asked Lieutenant Juan, he suggested that we should infiltrate 2 front trucks. I will convince the guards to just let those 2 front trucks go without checking their container, but he said we should be fast!”
“How… How…”
“No time to explain!”
He then pushes John to his front and the couple ran as fast and as sneaky as possible to the loading area.
…
After successfully passing the guard and climbing up to the trucks, both of them sighed.
“Can’t believe we make it, right John?” he squeezed, “By the way, how many times I have to tell you to go faster?”
“I… I always wish we … we… never do this, Johann!” John answered while heavily breathing.
“We will be in jail for sure! But at least the whole ship doesn’t have to know that deep inside you is a little pony, huh?”
“Johann… you jerk!”
John looked out of the container. It was pitch black and there was barely any light. But he could see the town’s reflection on the sea with all of its sparkling lighting.
“Are there anyone going with us?”
“Cruz and Yang are on the truck behind us”
At that moment, Johann looked around the empty cabin. He noticed that everything, even the truck, is strangely small, at least to the average human standard: the boxes that are left at the end of the container seem to be too big. Normally, the container height would be more than enough to fit 2 or 3 boxes, in this case, there is just one.
“It appeared to contain some stuff. Haystack, I presumed”, Johann thought.
Then, he was shocked when he put his head to the position of the driver.
“What? No… No way!” he gasped.
He looked into the cockpit to see a creature with hooves, and took the truck to the town. The hooves take the wheel and drive it perfectly, although his, or her, hooves have no finger.
“What… What is that?”
…
The truck finally stopped.
“Are there any ways to get out of this?” John asked, “The driver will see us and might report…”
“Are they even human?” Johann answered with a smug, “I would sure they don’t know what to report! Plus, they may be civil drivers!”
There are noises of the container’s door being open. Johann guessed that the driver wanted to take the haystack box out, so he told John:
“When he opened the door, just stormed out! Cover your face!” Johann said.
“Okay, here we are. One, two, three…”
When the door opened, they did just that. Both sides were surprised by what they saw.
The one who opens the door is not a human. Is a horse-shaped creature, more specifically, a pony.
The pony who opens the door is also surprised. He questioned how on Earth those humans can get on his truck so quietly.
“Are they deserting?” he thought
“Hey! You two!” the blue pony yelled.
…
They were shocked to the core when they finally get into downtown.
The whole town was occupied by ponies. They largely do human activity, but with hooves and magic, topped by pegasi flying in the air with wings.
“Sneaky, we have to be sneaky!” Johann told his yellow-eyed companion, “There is a bar where we will hide for a while before going back to the base. It should be near here!”
“You know if they know we sneaked out, they will shoot all of us down, right?”
He was right. Since the policy is to not get out of the base under any circumstances unless it was authorized by the unit's supreme commander, Lieutenant Colonel Josef Garry, they could be executed by the military.
“It's fine, they won’t notice!”
“How?”
“Too bad… There is a whole business at our unit that only allows a handful of personnel to escape the base. We are the very lucky one. Consider it from me, jerk!”
“If so, why do you want me to do this instead of showing the ship that I am a little baby girl?”
“Your attitude shows that you love to be the ship’s sheriff, so if we are caught, you will die first so no one will randomly tell commanders about our little mistake. No one is perfect, jerk!”
After a few minutes sneaking through some dark alley, they finally reach the bar. Cruz and Yang are already inside. The bar is working under an earth pony bartender, who seems to get used to some human soldier deserted to his bar in, perhaps, the most hidden place in Maretime Bay.
“There is a reason why I call you at this time” the bartender said, “no pony will see y’all this time. By the way, humans only started to come here about 2 months ago. Enjoy!”
“What time is it?” Cruz asked.
“7 pm” the bartender answered, “let me guess, the military asked y’all to sleep at 10? Good! You have about one and a half hours until other trucks come to the base. This is the preparing time for the Maretime Bay Avenger, so there will be more supply come from this very town to there.”
“Thank… Thank you…”
“No problem! Now what do you want to drink? Soda? Margarita? Sunny’s Grand Cocktail? Ha! I just came up with that name!”
But the name “Sunny” triggered something in John’s mind. He has heard this name a lot of times.
“No… It's straight up familiar… Like I know the one bearing this name really well!”
John thought. He had some unpleasant experiences while that name came up.
“Hey sheriff! You okay?” Cruz asked.
“I… I think I needed a walk…” John answered.
“Come back soon, kid! Make sure to cover yourself well. I don’t want to have any trouble with the new sheriff! He is kinda harsh on us these days!” the bartender called out.
John smiled and walked away.
…
Although he has come to a completely new world, John has a feeling this town has something really familiar to him: the glass building that he has seen from the base before, the town’s police station, a smoothie cart, and…
“That… I know that lighthouse!” he gasped.
When John tries to sneak through the alley, towards the empty seaside street, he suddenly feels like someone is staring at him.
He turned back. Looking at him was a blue unicorn pony with a long blue mane.
She then shocked him by waving at him happily.
-Hi old friends! Nice to meet you again!
