Chapters Canterlot Castle, Throne room
Gears was pacing back and forth waiting for his princess, and teacher, to arrive. He pulled out a scroll and a pin and looked over the final preparations for the debates. As he was giving the scroll a once over. The throne room doors open, revealing Twilight Sparkle with two royal guards on each side of her, both wearing a purple jackets with new M4 rifles, Twilight looked at Gears in amusement. She was always reminded of herself when she saw somepony lost in a paper work.
“mmhhm” twilight cleared her throat, grabbing Gears’ attention
“Princess” Gears walked up the twilight giving her a hug. She returned the hug with her own feeling how tense he was. “So princess, may I asked why am I here.”
“I will tell you, after you tell me about what you have to report.” twilight requested, giving him a reassuring smile.
“You know how we having an electron for the first mister position. Well I’m finishing the set up for the debates, both of them.”
“Wait, both of them?” twilight asked
“Yes, two parties popped up before we go into the debates for first mister and shadow. We're going to deal with the Celestial democrats, and the lunar republicans.” Gears finished.
“Well, parties is not what I intended but we will push forward, anyway. Well Gears, the reason I have called you here is because we found a young colt who seems to have a bloodline connected to Celesta and I need someone to look after him I was hoping you could take care of him.” Twilight explained
“What?! Are you sure, princess? I've never raised a foal and I don’t have a mare so theirs no motherly figure for him. Plus I have to oversee the EIA and I have project mjolnir to start.”
“Gears, I know you're nervous but I know you will do fine in fact when you have foals of your own, you would have some experience raising one.” twilight raises his head to look at him.
I guess it makes sense, and I always wanted a foal. But the EIA.”
I will have captain Vladimir to oversee it and the mjolnir project is go to be put in the hoofs of professor Crossbones. You'll meet him tomorrow at the lab. Now you’ll find blueblood at the northern foal orphanage.”

Canterlot, northern foal orphanage
Blueblood was bouncing off the walls. He had just got a letter from the princess saying that he was getting adopted by her own student. There was a guard outside his room standing in place wait for the VIP to get the colt. Blueblood walked outside and moshing the guard in, she rolled her eyes and walked in. blueblood sat down on the bunkbed and spoke
“I can't believe I’m getting adopted. I never thought I would” blueblood beamed
“Well good for you foal, I just happy to see somepon- someone excited as you are, I mean I you kinda remind me of my daughter when she was your age.” the Guards mare explained
“Really?!”
“Yes, her name is Aurora. she's a pegasus and anytime she would get excited she would not stop talking about it.”
“Okay…. What's your name, Mrs?” blueblood question after a brief pause’
“Names Red Harvest and before you ask I’m here to keep you safe for the VIP.”
“Okay. what a VIP?” blueblood asked
“A VIP or a very important pon-person is someone of high states, so your luck probably be living in a mansion with some servers-
“OR he will live where I do, which is an apartment down arabic streets.” A stallion interrupted her. She turned around and the VIP. she jumped back a bit, she knew the VIP looked strange but she never guessed how strange till seeing him. Blueblood hid behind the guard, only getting a small glimpse of the stallion. He was purple like the princess but his mane was pink and so were his eyes but unlike other ponies the stallion's eyes were dragon's eyes. The stallion was also larger than the mare by two hooves lengths.
“You must be the VIP, Gears right?” the guards mare inquired, trying and failing to hide the fear in her voice
“Yes, I am.” Gears turned his head down to see a colt. The colt had a blonde mane with a white coat and blue eyes. The colt was shaking a bit, making gears’ face fall, but he glanced up and kneeled down and got as close to eye level with blueblood.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you. Look I’ve lost a lot of people over the years and all I want to do is just have a family and work on other jobs so if you’ll have me I would be honored to be your father.” Gears said in a soothing and loving tone in his voice. Gears extended his leg towards blueblood. Blueblood hesitantly left the safe of the guardsmare and walked up to the odd stallion’s out stretched leg and notice his hoof had claws on them. He looked at the stallions eyes and altho scared he didn’t feel as if he was in danger. He grabbed the stallion's hoof and walked with him still a bit nerves about the stallion. Gears was walking outside, but before he did he turned to the mare and said
“Thank you for not attacking me like the others did.” Gears added as he walked out with blueblood. Red harvest was dumbstruck. Did she just see what she thought she saw? A creature just came in and adopted a foal and to top it off, thanked her for not freaking out. She shook her head. She only came to one thought and one thought only “who was that? And why was he a VIP?”
Canterlot, Arabic street
Blueblood was following the stallion gears. He thinks that was the stallion's name, anyway. They walked up the stairs of a small building. Once they reached the door gears took his keys out of his sable bag and opened the door. He motioned blueblood to go inside, to which he complied. Inside the condo was nothing special, just a living room with a brown paint job and a carpeted floor. The stallion walked in behind him and turned on the lights.
“So blueblood, what do you think?” Gears asked
“I think it's plain” blueblood answer
“Oh well, thanks," Gears said sarcastically
“No problem." Blueblood committed the sarcasm going over his head. "So you my dad now!?"
"Yes I am, blueblood. Now are you hungry? I can make some food and you can take a look around. What do you say?" Gears offered before blueblood could reply his stomach growled. Gears chuckled and walked to the kitchen. Blueblood, for his part walked around the condo looking for anything interesting. He found a desk with drawings on an enormous sheet of paper. Blueblood walked up to the desk and sat down looking at the drawings. He saw a crystal label (heat crystal fragment from the fire lands) blueblood then look at the poll that had been made from something blueblood never heard of "clter"
“Blueblood dinner is ready." Gears yelled to get his attention. Blueblood walked to the kitchen and saw a place for him. It was fish on a stick with steamed vegetables. Blueblood sat down and looked over to gears and saw him with a cut of meat with vegetables. Blueblood stared at the meat with a confused look on his face.
“What is blueblood?" Gears asked
“It's just I never seen that before" blueblood pointed to gears and his own.
“Well that's a fish and mine is a piece of zebra meat."
“That used to be a zebra?!" Blueblood shouted
“Lower you voice or do you want to wake up the neighbors." Gears yelled in an authority toun. Blueblood cowered in fear, looking up at Gears. "I'm sorry of yelling, but look, I'm different from other ponies. I have to eat stuff that dragons eat or I could die."
“But zebras are living creatures."
“Well, so are plants, but you see no one crying for them. Look I don't want to scare you but please don't tell anyone I eat this stuff. It isn't because it's bad but because they don't understand." Gears explained
“Okay Gears” blueblood said with a nervous look on his face as he ate his food. After the two ate their dinner in silence, once they finished gears grabbed the dishes and to them to the sink. Blueblood walked over to the couch and sat down. After cleaning the dishes, Gears sat down next to blueblood.
“So Gears what made you adopted me” blueblood asked breaking the silence
Gears didn’t know what to say, so he looked back to what twilight told him. “Gears honesty is the best way for a relationship to flush” Gears cleared his throat and turned to the colt.
“I didn’t the princess choses you for me” Gears answered
“So you didn't want me?” blue started to tear up
“No, no just because I didn’t choses you, doesn't mean I didn’t want you. Look most of all parents don’t get to choose their foals, they just get them and they don't care, they care for them regardless.”
“Blueblood blinked his tears away and started at his hoofs “my parents didn’t want me and a stallion is now forced to take care of me, I'm just a matake.” blueblood’s tears fell Down his face freely, the colt just sobbed before feeling a claw on his shoulder he turned to Gears, who was giving him a reassuring smile and pulled him into a hug. He cried as he gears patted his head.
“You are not a mistake and I wasn’t forced. I was given a choice to take care of you or not and I agreed to this.”
“Why?” blue asked, wiping his tears
“I know what it feels like to feel unwanted, but I had my parents and then I started to find ponies who didn’t care I was different. I want to be that for you.”
“Thank you mister Gears” blueblood yawned as gears lifted him up and took him to his room he put blueblood on the bed and tucked him in. gears turned off the light and walked out of the room he walked into his room and got ready for bed.

Canterlot, Gears’ Condo
Gears woke up and looked at his clock and saw that it was early. He got out of bed and walked into the bathroom, and hopped in the shower. He turned on the cold water and scrubbed soup into he’s scales. After his shower, he walked out of his bathroom. He put on a pink button up. He walked out of his room and looked over to the guest room that is now his son’s room. A burst of joy ran through him as gears walked in the room. He saw a young colt comfy sleeping in the bed in the center of the room. Gears walked up to the bed and tapped on Blueblood's shoulder. When he didn't wake up, gears shocked his shoulder. Waking him up, he saw gears smiling at him. He was about to scream at the creature at his bed but then he remembered what happened last night. He calmed down looking at the strange stallion returning the smile shyly.
“Good Morning Blueblood, did you sleep well” gears asked in a soothing tone
“Good mister Gears.” blueblood said before his stomach grumbled “so what's for breakfast”
“Well, that is what I want to know. What do you want for breakfast?”
“Um, I like banana pancakes”
“Ok, I’ll make them and you will get cleaned up. The bathroom is right there” gears point to a door at the other end of the room. Blueblood nodded his head and walked to the bathroom. Gears walked to the kitchen and started in the pancakes. Blueblood felt a sense of joy. He finally had someone who cared about him. He hoped he doesn't mess this up like the last time. Blueblood entered the kitchen, putting the towel on the counter. Gears looked at Blueblood. He was dry, but frizzy. Gears chuckled and put the pancakes on a plate.
“Here's your plate Blueblood.” Gears said with a friendly smile
“Thank you mister Gears.” blueblood sat down at the table, gears sat down across from him. Blueblood stared at Gears with a bit of nerves. Gears picked up on this and attempted to reassure him. “Blueblood what wrong?”
“Nothing, mister Gears. it's just uhm, you kinda scary me”
“Oh sorry but I can't help it I just look this way” gears frowned. Blueblood felt bad, the stallion is just trying to be nice to him and he just made him feel bad. “No I’m sorry mister Gears I shouldn’t have said that.”
“It's fine blueblood everyone is scared of me, a small amount of ponies care about me.” blueblood and gears sat and eat their pancakes in awakened silence before blueblood broke it
“Mister Gears what are doing today”
“Well since school is close you will be accompanying me to the lab in Canterlot institute of science, then afterwards we can head to the castle to see the princess. What do you think”
“We get to meet the princess!” blueblood bound up and down excited to meet the princess. Gears smiled and got up from his chair. He picked up blueblood’s empty plate and his own and placed them in the dishwasher. After that was done gears and Blueblood walked up to a table with blueprints on it. Blue notices the same one from last night.
“What is that?”
“It's a weapon.”
“But it looks like paper to me.”
“Blueblood the drawing is a weapon and we're taking it with us as soon as I can find my saddle bags,” gears said rummaging around the desk. When he couldn’t find it he turned to blueblood and said “blue can you check for my saddle bag in my room it right next to yours”
“Okay” Blueblood smiled as he walked into Gears’ room. He saw the sabble bags next to two photos on a desk. Blueblood hopped on the chair and grabbed the sabble bags but before he got off he saw the two photo’s One was a Gears and a purple pegasus standing next to a big blue box. The next picture was gears kissing a green earth pony mare on the head while she took the picture.
“They look so happy” blueblood thought to himself
“Blueblood, did you find my saddle bag” Gears entered the room and saw Blueblood with the photo. Blueblood turned around and saw gears staring at him. Blueblood began to tear up. No no no he is going to hate me and want to send me back to the orghinage because I looked through his stuff. Tears fell down blueblood’s face as he brought up his hooves to his face. Gears walked up to the foal and patted him on the withers blueblood, looked up to gears and didn’t see anger, just a worried stallion.
“What's wrong blue” gears said in a calm and gentle voice
“I’m sorry I didn't mean to-” blueblood started to mumble his words trying to explain himself. Gears stopped him and gestured to him to do what he did. Gears took a long breath in thore his nostrils blueblood doing the same and breathing out. After doing the exercises for a bit Blueblood finally calmed down.
“Blue, tell me what happened.”
“I was getting your saddle bag like you said then I grabbed your pictures.”
“Okay what else?”
“That's it”
“Wait that's it”
“yes”
Gears face turned from confused to and amused smile. “That it blue it okay to look at pictures you know”
“But their yours I shouldn’t have been snooping”
“It's okay blue you didn’t do anything wrong. It's just pictures.”
“Gears whos the mares in the pictures if you don't mind” blueblood asked shyly, Gears grabbed the photo with the green mare and showed blueblood the photo. “This mare is an apple farmer from ponyville, me and her had so much fun together.”
“But if you two were happy, why isn’t she here?” blueblood asked
“Her parents didn't like us being together. She tried to ignore it but after a couple years they finally got to her. They forced her to choose me or them. I didn’t want her to make that call so I broke up with her but we did have one final night together.” gears explain with a happy smile remembering that night.
“What did you two do” blueblood asked innocently
Gears’ face went beat red as he was asked the question. Gears put down the photo on the desk and put on his saddle bag. Blueblood stared at him. Gears picked up Blueblood and placed him on his back. Gears began to walk out the door.
“Mister Gears, you didn't answer my question."
“We danced all night yeah that's what we did" Gears sputtered out blush still plastered on his face as they left the condo.
Canterlot IS
Gears and Blueblood got to the laboratory and entered the building and walked to the receptionist desk. The stallion at the desk was filling his hoof when gears cleared his throat. The stallion looked up and saw gears he flinched but kept his composers. "Hello sir h-how can I help you"
“I was wondering where the special projects division is," gears asked as he pulled out a badge. The stallion looked at it and noticed the ID said he was part of the mjolnir project. "Elevator is down the hall. Here's the key to the special project floor." The stallion said
“Thank you sir” gears began to walk down the hall. The stallion at the desk waved at him, heart thumping in his chest. Then he noticed a young colt on the stallion’s back. They waved at him with a big grin on his face. After a few moments gears and blueblood were at the special projects division. Gears let Blueblood off his back and grabbed a lab coat. Once it was on Gears and Blueblood walked to one of the empty workstations. As they were walking, Blueblood noticed a lot of mares and stallions wearing lab coats like Gears and all working on various machines. Gears sat down on the desk and looked at the blueprint he pulled from his saddle bag.
“Hmm, blue can you get that clter block on the shelf over there?" Gears point to the shelf next to a mare working on what looked like a toy. Blueblood jumped down and walked to the shelf and grabbed the gold looking metal. The mare dropped her device on the floor. Blueblood pick it up and hooved it over to the mare. The mare a bit surprised at a young colt In the lab. She just took her weapon and patted him on the head. "Thank you little colt but might I ask why are you here?" The mare asked
“I'm with mister Gears, he adopted me." blueblood said to the mare.
“Oh and who is he?" The mare asked sweetly
“He's over there." Blueblood pointed to Gears who was putting a metal cutter on the table.
“Whoo what is that!” The mare grabbed a stethoscope and trotted to gears, blueblood following her. Gears was adjusting his tools at that moment a mare grabbed him and looked at him with fansantaion. She had a stethoscope around her neck.
“Uh can I help you!?” gears asked a bit excited
“Um I know this might be a bit strange but can I check your heartbeat!” the mare asked. Gears sighed in disappointment and nodded. If the mare noticed she didn't care. She immediately started to check his heart rate and began to make him do other things. Blueblood was confused all he wanted to do is help but now mister gears is being prodded at.
“Uh mister Gears can I get something to drink.”Blueblood asked
“In a bit blue, just let this mare finish her testing.”
Blueblood was about to sit down when he noticed the elevator opened and a mare walked into the room. She looked around at everyone's progress and walked to the mares and complemented their work. While the stallions were ignored. The mare finally got to their table where she approached the mare running tested on Gears.
Doctor fisherline we are not meant to be doing personal projects here at work. Go back to your station.” the mare commanded, causing doctor fisherline to walk back to her station head hanging low. The mare turned her head to Gears and smirked
“Well would you look at this, the princess’s pet is here to grace us with his presents.” she said sarcastically, Gears angered, bolded up as he was about to respond with something equally rude but then he looked over to Blueblood who was sitting watching them. “Be a good example, Gears” he thought as he took a deep breath and let it out through his mouth. “ sorry professor crossbones but I’m not an administrator for the princess I’m here to invent weaponry along with everyone else in here.”
“Right, the princess did put stallions on the development team. Honestly I don’t see the point. You stallions are too emotional but I guess some of you are cute enough to keep around.” Professor Crossbones said looked at several stallions as she licked her lips then she looked at gears and her expenses charged to a look of disguised plastered on her face. “Uh why don’t you be a dear and make me a sandwich.” Gears' eyes twitched and his vain was popping out his forehead “yes ma'am” he said through gritted teeth. Blueblood was confused; he thought mister gears was a scientist not a helper. Gears picked up Blueblood and walked over the break room.

Gears was trying his best not to yell at the mare who showed little respect for him or the rest of the male staff. He was currently making a sandwich for the professor, once he finished he began to walk to her office passing Doctor fisherline who gave him a sympathetic look. Blueblood was nervously following Gears along the way. Once Gears and blueblood got to the office door, he looked over to blue.
“Are you okay blue?" Gears asked in concerned
“Y-yes"
“Really, you look scared"
“Maybe a little"
“It's me, isn’t it?"
“N-no its-"
“You don't need to lie to me. I'm sorry I was angry."
“You did nothing, mister Gears"
“I scared you, that's enough.” he said was a sad expression on his face, Now Blueblood felt bad, Gears knocked on the door, once got a response he made his way inside
“Oh the pet finally made me my sandwich ,give it here" the professor ordered coldly
I'm not a pet ma'am" Gears Gritted his teeth already annoyed
“Sure you aren't." she said condescendingly. "Look, if it was my choice you would be at home with that colt and show him how to do colt things I don't know."
“I was assigned to project by the princess herself, being her pr- her most trusted friend and most promising scientist is the reason”
“Sure you are that way you're at the bench and I’m at the head.” she said sarcastically
Well I’ll be taking my leave now!” he stated a bit of smoke coming from his notstarles
“Okay, hope you and the stallions have fun playing pertened.”
THAY”RE NOT PRETENDING WE”RE HERE TO- you know what I’ll be at my workstation sorry for yelling” Gears voice was trembling with barely contained anger. As he left the room, he fatly heard crossbones say “overly emotional stallions, typical.” as he closed the door behind him. Gears looked around the room, looking for Blueblood, he found him talking to doctor Fisherline. He walked over to them after hearing a bit of their conversation.
“So, how is Gears to you? I noticed you were a bit scared when you were next to him.” Fisherline asked
“He's nice, it's just that he looks scary.” Blue said sadly,
“It's okay, it takes time to get used to something new and he is a new type of pony, so don’t worry, everyone will get used to him- eventually.”
Gears chose that moment to walk over. “Hey, Fisherline right? thanks for keeping eye on Blueblood”
“No problem, he was a little angel.”
“Good to hear”, after a brief pause “so Fisherline do want to see the princess note on me.” he bluntly asked
“W- wait what!?”
“Yeah, me and Blueblood were going to see her after this and since you were interested in me, she wouldn’t mind sharing her note.”
“O-okay, thank you Gears I won't forget this.” she said exactly. Gears chuckled and picked up Blueblood, putting him on his back. After finishing their conversation, he walked over to his workstation and began to cut the metal.

Gears finished making the model frame, he was about to start on the wiring the frame when professor Crossbones came out of her office. Everyone in unison looked at the professor waiting for her to do something.
“Good, now that I have all of your attention. It's time for you all to leave due to the princess’ worker protective agency. You all will have an 8 hour work day and yes some of you did come here late but I’m going to let it slide for today.” Gears tapped blueblood on the shoulder to wake him up from his nap. As he started to clean up his station.
Blueblood strued from his slumber to everyone packing up their things. He hopped off the table and stretched his legs. He saw the mare who mister Gears made a sandwich for, the mare walked to a unicorn stallion and talked to him. But then Blueblood saw the stallion looked uncomfortable but then she grabbed the stallion’s flank. He blushed and she pushed him all the way back to her office. Blueblood was about to ask Gears what they were doing but Gears picked him up and walked into the elevator.
“You okay blue you looked confused.” Gears asked
“I don’t know, mister Gears, the mare in the office just seems weird.”
“Oh, she is a lot more than weird,” Gears muttered under his breath
“What?”
“Nothing blue, it's nothing.”
The elevator got to the bottom and opened, both father and son saw Doctor Fisherline waiting for them. She saw Gears and waved to him. The two started to walk out of the building and walked down to the castle.
Canterlot castle
Red Harvest was on partral when she saw two ponies come to the gates. She saw that strange stallion with a unicorn mare walking next to him. She also noticed the colt was on the stallion's back. The three got closer and Harvest had to do a standard procedure. “Holt state your business and names”
“Hello mis Harvest '' Blueblood greeted with a big grin on his face, Harvest was about to get closer but then she remembered the taller and freaky stallion that Blueblood was sitting on.
“Uh, hey kid, how's your new d-dad treating you?”
“Mister gears is really nice to me and he’s helping mis Fisherline with her r-re-re-”
“My research well more like uh spontaneous side project” doctor Fisherline finished
“Oookay, so what are you here for?”
“Well, me and Blueblood, we’re going to have tea with the princess and Fisherline will be joining us.”
“I’m going to need some proof Gears, it's Gears right?”
“Yes and here you go” he pulled out a letter and hoofed it over to her. She skimmed it and then got to the royal seal
“Okay.” Harvest was more confused than ever. This stallion has to be very close with the princess if he could just bring anyone with him or he could just be full of himself and think his just do anything, she didn’t know
“I will be escorting you three to the princess's chambers,”
“Really? I never need one before”
“Well, it's just a precaution sir” she lied
The four walked through the halls of the castle passing multiple guards; they all had fearful or disgusted looks directed towards Gears. Blueblood noticed how everyone was looking at mister Gears. He doesn't know how Gears can keep smiling after seeing everyone like that. Finally, the four got to the princess’ room. Harvest opened the door and let them in.
“Gears it's good to see and Blueblood good to see the little prince” twilight gave a nuzzle to both of them. She then turned to the two mares in the room. She noticed one had a lab coat. The other was one of her guards. She knows why her guard was there, her student is strange to them and on top of all that, he would say nothing about it. She really wanted to do something, but Gears didn’t want to make a big deal about it.
“So Gears, who's your friend here?”
This is doctor fisherline she was interested on what I am and I was thinking you might like to share some notes with her”
“Well I do like helping with research”
“T-Thank you, your Majesty.” fisherline nervestaly thanked
“Think nothing of it, guard why don’t you take doctor fisherline and blueblood to the library. My notes are in the H wing,it's a book titled hybrids .”
“Yes ma'am,” harvest saturated
“Mister Gears I don’t want to go to the library, I want to stay with the princess.” Blueblood winded
“Well the princess wants you to help the mares find the book” Gears said abit of his anger bubbling up
No you and the princess just don’t want me here”
Yes, we speak about something private, so just go with them” Gears said smoke began to come from his notrales, the two mare backed away not wanting to get in the way
NO I want to stay”
BLUEBLOOD YOU WILL GO WITH THE MARES NOW!” Gears snarled, his face contorted in anger thinking of everything that happened that day with professor crossbones. The room was silent then a sound of liquid hitting the tile floor. Everyone looked at bluebloods' hooves and saw a slowly growing puddle on the floor. Gears noticed blueblood was shivering with fear, with tears falling down his face.
“I’m sorry blueblood I didn’t mean to-” Gears was about to go to Blueblood side but he was interrupted by twilight's hoof. Gears gave Blueblood an apologetic look which did not go unnoticed by the good Doctor. Twilight cleared her throat and looked at her guard
“Take blueblood Get him cleaned up, doctor firsherline I apologized for what has happened I will personally make it up to you”
The two mares were visibly shaking at the outburst but after the princess spoke they calmed down. Harvest picked up Blueblood and walked out of the room. Doctor fisherline bowed her head and did the same.
You really need to work on your temper Gears” Twilight stated with authority
“I know huh I can't believe I did that” Gears had regret painted on his face form what has happened
“Gears you just don’t yell at a foal because they don't do what you say”
“I know I didn’t mean it I just had a bad day”
“What happened?”
“Just the professor you put in charge, she is extremely obnoxious, to say the least.”
“I heard that she can be a bit rude especially with stallions, but she has never failed me before so just bear with me for now.”
“so how does blueblood feel about you” twilight changing the subjected
“I think he’s terrified of me, I don’t blame him. Have to live with a freak like me who wouldn’t be”
“Gears don’t say things like that. I know it's hard for you because of how you look, people judge what they don’t understand but don’t be ashamed of who you are.”
“I'm not twilight, it's just sometimes I walk out of my home and feel eyes all on me. Foals run in fear of me, heck the ponies that put with me are you and dash and I don’t know how long she got left.”

“Not everyone that, mare doctor fisherline you bright her here because she wasn’t afraid of you.”

“I’m not too sure. Yes you scared her but I’m sure she will understand”

“I'm sure she will and I know you're going to apologize to Blueblood” Twilight walked to the table and set up the tea cups. A cleaning stallion walked in and began to clean up the puddle. Gears walked out of the room and headed down the hall looking for Blueblood. He turned the corner and bumped into doctor Fisherline. She fell down and looked up and saw Gears looking at her in concern.
“You okay Fisherline?” Gears offered his hoof.
“Yes thank you” she looked at his hoof and saw that the claws on his hooves moved. She grabbed his hoof and got up. She looked at Gears, noticing he had a regretful look on his face.
“Are you okay Gears?
“Yeah its just I-I just want to apologize I didn’t mean to scary you”
“Thank you Gears but I’m not the pony that you should be apologizing to”
“I know I’m looking for him. Do you know where he is?”
“No but I do know that the Guard took him to get cleaned up.”
“Okay I know where you look now thank you” Gears trotted down the hall and turned the corner. After an hour Gears got to castle showers that were typically used by the royal guard. He breathed in and walked in the showers and saw Blueblood being washed by Red Harvest. Gears took off his clothes and walked into the showers rooms.
Canterlot guard showers
Gears walked into the showers, feeling the heat from the water as it hit the tile. Harvest was rubbing soup in Blueblood’s fur. Gears noticed the look on Blueblood's face. It was sad, as if someone tore his heart up in front of him. Gears approached the two in snails paced. Once he got close enough, Red Harvest pulled blueblood to her side and glared at Gears.
“What do you want?” She snarled
“I don’t want to fight. I’m just here to apologize to Blue” as Blueblood heard this his face lit up with hope. He moved away form Harvest’ side to look at Gears
“I’m sorry for getting angry and yelling at you,” he apologized
“Really?!” the two ponies said in unison one with surprised and the other with confusion
“Blueblood walked up to Gears with a happy yet sad smile. “Do you really mean it, mister Gears?”
“Yes, Blue I do. I was furious and I couldn’t think of anything to do to convince you to leave, so I just yelled instead, I’m sorry.”
Blueblood hugged his leg with a bright smile on his face. Gears looked down at him with an equally bright smile. He then looked up to see the glare that almost made him pick up blueblood and run. But he just stood there in an awkward silence, Blueblood being blissfully unaware of the staring match that began above his head. Red Harvest walked up to Gears and lightly pushed Blueblood off of him.
“You think you can just walk in here and just say sorry” harvest said angrily
“No, but I will work on making amends”
“I doubt that.”
“I will and you will see it don’t question my code.”
“Your code? What are you, a night watcher?” she said sarcastically
“No, the silent shadow”
“Silent shadow?!” Harvest had no idea what this stallion was talking about
“Who the fu-buck are you”
“I’m Gears. Now we should get back to the princess.”
“Fine.” Harvest turned off the water and walked with the two males out of the showers. Gears grabbed his clothes and put them on. Red Harvest looked at the stallion with confusion, but before she could say something. Blueblood asked him for her.
“Mister Gears, why do you put that stuff on?”
“It's called clothes, Blueblood, and most ponies wear them for different reasons.”
“Okay… but why do you wear them?”
Gears let out a sigh and forced a smile. “Because I like to look the best I can, Blue”
“Okay” After the interaction, the three ponies walked to the princess’ chambers. After a long walk filled with nothing but awkward silence, the three stopped and saw a cleaning stallion leave the room. Blue blushed in embarrassment as he recalled why the stallion needed to be there to begin with. The three entered the princess's room and saw doctor Fisherline talking about the projects she's been working on.
Canterlot’s royal chambers
Princess twilight pulled out three chairs with her magic and motioned for them to take a seat. Once the three sat down. The five ponies talked about Blueblood,Harvest and Doctor Fisherline’s past but by the time it got to Gears’ past he gave vague answers, With a glint of sadness in his eyes, the looked got the interest of Fisherline and Blueblood who both wanted to know about Gears a little more. After a while of Harvest throws subtle jabbes towards Gears and vice versa. Twilight light gave him sever looks that stopped him from continuing further. After an hour, the tea finished and everyone said their goodbyes. Twilight halted her guardsmare and the student.
“Red Harvest, Gears, how about you two let off some steam in the training room.”
“Really!?” both ponies said in unison
“Yes, I do believe you two are still tense with one another.” The two looked down, a bit ashamed at being caught.
“Well, I could go for a good round or two, but what about Blueblood?”
“He could stay with me while you two have your little match.”
“That could work.”
“Whatever, let's get this over with.” Harvest said annoyed
The two ponies walked down to the training grounds. Both unaware that the princess and Blueblood were standing on the balcony overlooking the training grounds. Gears hoof a bo staff over to Harvest. She glared at him and got in the proper fighting stance. Gears grabbed his own bo staff and took his own stance. “Guardsmare Red Harvest the princess want us to duel, do you accepted her will” Gears asked internally chuckling at the tradition
“Yes,” she said, a bit confused
“Then we should begin.” Gears gave a small bow and swung at her. She blocked the attack and swung at his legs. He dogged the attack, with lightning-like speed he hit the side of her head. She staggered and Gears took the opportunity presented and struck her twic on the head and once in the back. Once she landed flat on the ground, Gears held the staff to her neck. She looked up at Gears with a glare. He just looked down at her with annoyance
“I expected more of a fight”
Harvest growled in anger and hit the staff that were pressed against her neck. Gears redirected the force from her strike and struck her in the hip. She let out a grunt of pain and quickly got up on all fours. She narrowly dodged two strikes from Gears. Harvest took flight and went in for a kick. Gears moved out of the way and grabbed her leg. He threw her to the ground. She turned and was immediately stuck in the muzzle. She retaliated with a headbutt catching Gears off guard and making him back off of her. She got on her hooves and hit his claw making him drop his staff. Harvest tried to throw a right hook at him but he caught it. Gears threw her to the side and grabbed her back and tossed her to the wall. She sat there looking up at him blood coming out her nostrils
“Red harvest I thing you should concessed you can’t win”
“The fuck I can!” she yelled, turning around and ringing her hind legs up she bucked him in the head hard enough to send him into the opposed wall. Harvest charged at Gears as he just stood there. She didn’t realize that he side stepped as she would have braille right into the wall if Gears didn’t grab her and pinned her to the ground.
“You really should just stop, trusting me. You can’t beat me.” he said with nothing but a red hoof print on his face
“I won’t let a stallion beat me!” Red Harvest shouted.
“Look at me do I look like a regular stallion”
“No!”
“Then don’t let your pride get in the way of your life because trust me if this was a real duel you would have been dead right at the beginning.”
“YOU HAVE WON GEARS” Princess Twilight yelled from the balcony. Blueblood right beside her. Gears let go of Harvest and gave her a smile he offered his claw, she grabbed his claw and was lifted up. Twilight and Blueblue were now on the training grounds. Blueblood ran to Gears with a big smile on his face.
Mister Gears Mister Gears you were so cool!” He hugged Gears’ leg. Gears netted down and embraced him. The two held like that till he looked over to twilight. She walked over to harvest who had a confused look on her face, wondering what exactly happened in the last hour.
“I think you did rather well counsreding your opponent”
“What? What Do you mean princess?”
“Well Gears likes determination when he sees it and you did last a lot longer than most”
“Does this happen a lot?”
“No, only a hoof full of times but everyone seems to have some form of vendetta against him.”
“What but why would they?”
“Because their scared of him and others like him the world is changing Sargent Harvest and it will take time for others to get used to it all we all have to do is make sure it changed in the right direction”
“Okay”
The library is open for all the castle staff; you might be able to find something about anything of interest there.”
I’ll keep that in mind” she said confused
Twilight chuckled and looked at Gears “I hope this could be a good path to you making a friend Gears” she thought, She walked towards Gears and Blueblood. Harvest looked at the three who were walking to the exit. Gears, blueblood and Twilight were approaching the front gates of the castle.
“You went easy on her”
“Yeah I didn’t want to break her, I already caused a lot of problems”
“Gears that wasn’t your fault that stallion went too far”
“Didn’t mean he had to-” Gears stop as he looked at Blueblood, who was looking at them with curiosity.
“I see what you mean but- forgive me I shouldn't have done that”
Gears hugged the princess “thank you for trying to help but maybe I-”
“Good night Gears.” Twilight raised his head and gave him a quick nuzzle “and please try to have a better opinion of yourself.”
“I’ll try princess” Gears grabbed Blueblood and walked out of the gates, Blueblood waved at the princess as the gates were closed behind them.
Canterlot, Gears’ Condo
Gears with Blueblood on his back, opened the front door and walked into their home. Blueblood drowsily snuggled into Gears’ scales as he walked over to a bookshelf and picked out a large book. The book had the text “the holy bible” written in gold. Blueblood eyed the book with curiosity.
“Mister gears what that”
“It's a book that teaches about god.”
“Who?”
God I’m not surprised you haven’t heard of him, not many ponies practice this faith.”
“Why don’t they”
“Because a really bad pony got them to get rid of books like these but now that the princess is in charge ponies can start practiced faith again”
“Okay but why are you getting it mister Gears.
“This book has stories in it my father read me them when I was your age I want to read one to you before you go to sleep”
“I like stories.”
“Okay then come on let's get you to bed.”
Gears took Blueblood to his room and placed him on the bed. Gears tucked him in and pulled a chair from a nearby desk in the room. Blue just looked at Gears waiting for him to begin. Once the two got settled Gears opened the book and flipped it over to a page
“Judges 13:3-5, now Blue. This is a story about a Dragon named Samson. I hope you like it. I did when my father read it to me.” he began to read the story.

Canterlot, Gears’ Condo
Gears woke up in a chair sitting across from a bed that held a young colt within its blanks. Gears looked around the room and noticed the bible on him. He had a small smile as he remembered what had happened the night before. He nuzzled Blueblood and walked out of the room, putting the bible on Blue’s desk as he walked out. Gears walked into his own room and took off his clothes and threw them in the dirty laundry. He then grabbed a towel and entered the bathroom.
Blueblood woke up in his room and noticed that Gears wasn’t there. He quickly got off the bed and rushed out of the room. He looked all around the condo but didn’t find any sign of Gears. Tears fell freely down his face as he couldn’t find him. He walked back to his room until he saw the door next to his. Blueblood immediately went inside the room. When he saw no one was in there, he began to welled, tears and snot falling from his face. Then he saw a light coming from under a door he didn’t notice before he ran to it and tried to open the door but it was locked. He pressed his ear to the door and heard rushing water. Blueblood really focused on what he could hear. It was a stallion's voice singing a song that Blue recognized.
Blueblood took a deep breath and began looking around the room. He saw pictures of a lot of ponies and other strange creatures that he didn’t know what they were. He walked to a black dresser and opened the lower drawer and saw two pairs of socks. He pulled them out and noticed the socks had pink and purple stripes running across them. Blueblood stared at them with confusion. His innocent mind didn’t realize what he held in his hooves. But before he could put on the large socks, the bathroom door opened and Gears walked out of it with a towel around his waist. Once Gears saw Blueblood and what he was holding, Gears’ checks went beat red. Gears quickly got to Blueblood side and took the pair of stallion lingerie from the colt's hooves.
“Blueblood don’t touch those.” Gears squeak out. Blueblood was confused now. Gears face red but Blueblood knows that he isn’t angry so what did he do?
“Why”
“Those are for adults only so please just don’t touch them.”
“Why are they for adults only?” Gears' face got even redder as he now had to explain lingerie to a five-year-old as innocently as possible.
“Blueblood when a male and a female love each other very much. They do adult things but sometimes they're not always excited to do those things so the male or female would put on curtain clothes to make the other one excited.”
It finally dawned on Blueblood what he was talking about, or at least he thought he did. “So those things are to make a mare excited to kiss their colt friend?”
“Uhm yyess” Gears said with a nervous grin
“Ewww.” Blueblood
“You say that now,” Gears said with a chuckle, face still red. “So Blue were got a conference to plan so come let me get dressed”
Canterlot, Castle Barracks
Red Harvest was reading files of former nobles, then immigrants files, and finally a book of dragon culture and lore. She was halfway through the book when she was interrupted by a cute stallion walking in. Harvest looked up at the stallion, noticing that he had a recruit uniform on. She decided have some fun
“Hello cutie~” she cud
The stallion blushed, then saluted “ma’am”
“What's a stallion like you wear a mare's uniform”
The stallion rolled his eyes with an annoyed look on his face but before he could say anything Harvest chuckled “I'm just bucking with you, anyone wearing that uniform has earned it. Even if their stallions”
“Hardy har har,” the stallion snarked as he walked up to a Harvest. “So Sargent, what are you doing?”
“None of your business Rook and shouldn’t you be with your new regiment.”
“I am ma'am I was assigned to your squad”
“Really? No offense, but a stallion couldn’t handle the type of assignments we have to deal with.”
“Ma’am, with all due respect, I have seen the record of this squad and I believe I can.”
“Okay then come back in the morning and we can get started”
“Ma’am it is morning”
“What?!” she looked at the clock beside her bunk. “hosesapples”
Harvest closed her book and quickly ushered her new squamate to the assignments desk down the hall. Once the two got to the desk they noticed something. No guards were in the office. The two ponies approached the front desk where a stallion was happily doing a crossword. Harvest ‘dinged’ the bell, getting the stallions' attention , the colt looked up from his paper and saw a pegasus and a unicorn in front of him wearing guard uniforms.
“Hello~” the receptionist said softly
“Hi I’m Sargent Red Harvest. Me and my squad haven’t gotten their assignment”
“Oh Sargent Harvest The princess has a special assignment for you.” he chuckled hoofing over a few papers.
Harvest grabbed the papers and passed them over to the rookie beside her. She looked at the receptionist and noticed he had a shine on his eyelids and lips. She smiled at the stallion. "Thank you, you handsome stallion”
The rookie rolled his eyes and gave his own two sene “so did your marefriend get you that make up”
The receptionist turned to him and gave a weak smile. “Yes she did”
“Let's be honest, would you have worn it if she didn’t get it for you?”
“No but she spends a few hundred bits on it so I don’t want it to go to waste.”
“Okay, thanks for the answer”
“So what about you, do you have a marefriend”
The rookie was about to answer but was stopped by Harvest "Come on rook we need to get ready no need for stallion gossip” she pushed him out of the room leaving the receptionist all the alone. After a couple hours later the sun came up and the two ponies started walking arabic street. Harvest had no idea what to think. Her ‘special’ mission was actually an escort mission for a VIP. once the two got to the home marked on the map. The two were confused. This place would barely be called a home; it was more like a condo.
Canterlot, Gears’ Condo
Gears dried off Blueblood after getting him out of the tube. Blueblood’s fur puffed out like a fuzzball. Gears stifled a chuckle as he picked up Blue and brought him back into his room. He grabbed a brush from his dresser and walked up to Blueblood who stared at Gears with curiosity. Gears brushed his fur down, trying to keep Blueblood calm.
“Mister Gears, what are we doing”
“Well, we’re Going to head to canterlot’s business section to set up the conference I told you about.” Gears finally finished brushing him.
“Okay, mister Gears”
“Come on Blueblo-” Gears stopped himself as he heard a knock at the door. Blueblood stuck his hooves out motioning for him to carry him. Gears picked him up and spun him around a bit. Blueblood laughing at the unexpected movement. Gears then put him on his back and trotted to the door. He opened it to meet the eyes of a red pegasus mare.
“IT’S YOU,” both adults said in unison. Blueblood just smiled at his new friend visiting
“Hello mis Harvest”
“Uhm hey kid, so this is where you live” Harvest said nervously.
“Yup I really like it here. Mister Gears is really nice.” Harvest stared at Gears with a curious look on her face.
“Well that's good. Gears as your guard, I think we should head out as soon as possible.”
Gears went over what she said.“Got it. Let me put some clothes on and we'll go.”
“Typical stallion.” She muttered under her breath as Gears put Blueblood on the floor and walked to his room. Blueblood tried to follow him but was stopped by Harvest. After a few minutes, Gears got out of his room wearing a black suit with a red tie. Also had put on glasses. He walked up to blueblood and put him on his back, and the two walked out of the condo. Gears and Harvest went to the bottom of the stairs and saw a stallion standing at attention. He looked into the large, suited stallion. Then he really looked up at the stallion. He didn’t have fur, but it's clear that he had something that seemed to be scales.
“Sir, are we going to be waiting for VIP here?” The rookie tried his best not to have his fear in his face as he looked at the freaky pony.
“I’m the VIP, so let's get go”
“Hello” Blueblood said from Gears’ back. The rookie looked at the little colt, waving at him. The rookie saluted at the two with a slight tremble in his legs. Gears noticed this but chose not to comment.
“So what's your name, soldier?” Gears asked
“G-Green Days sir” the rookie answered
“Good to meet you Green days I’m Gears you mind giving me the details of your assignment.”
“No sir, here you go”
Gears looked over the mission file it was signed by twilight herself and it was specifically for Harvest, yet escort missions have to be two guards but Gears knows his teacher and friend long enough to guess what was happening.
“Hey Green days, who assigned you to Red’s squad?”
The stallion Grind and had stars in his eyes. "The princess herself put me on this team and she said I had potential.”
Gears smiled and rolled his eyes. "She said the same to me when I was a colt, tho that was a long time ago” Gears and Blueblood walked down the street with the Red Harvest and Green following their VIP. Gears turned to Blueblood and started talking about getting Blueblood clothes when he turned to Harvest.
“Mis harvest do you want to come with us”
“What um I would love to kid it's just I have my own foal at home and I rather not leave her alone you know.” She made an excuse hoping it would work. Blueblood just started to tear up, he laid down on Gears back. He throws his forelegs down on Gears hips making him stop in place. He turned to the three behind him and said.
“Come on blue not everyone has time to do things”
Blueblood turned to Gears with tears falling down his face. “B-but I want her to come with us.”
“I know Blue but she can’t.”
“But But But” he was about to let out a welled until Gears put him on the ground and scratched behind his ear. Blueblood started laughing, sadness completely forgetting. Harvest smiled at the scene in front of her. Gears stopped scratching and pulled a coin from behind Blue's ear. His eyes lit up as he saw the bit in Gears claw. Gears hoofed it over to him.
“Cool how did you do that mister Gears”
“Magic!” Gears said with enthusiasm
“But your thinking didn’t light up?”
“My horn and I’ll show you how to do it later.”
Harvest walked closer to the two and patted blueblood on his back. The three continued walking as Green Days saw everything that happened. He quickly trotted back into his place by the VIPs side with a cheeky smile on his face.
Canterlot, Retail street
Gears, Blueblood, and their Guards had gotten to a tent off to the side of the closed street. Gears entered the tent with his ‘crew’ behind him. He picked up a clipboard and walked over to the lunch table.he began looking over the food, making sure it was all up to code. Blueblood climbed on to the table and reached for an apple fritter. Gears saw him reaching for it and grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and set him down on the floor next to him. He proceeded to glare at Gears.
“Mister Gears, I’m hungry”
“Blue, we just ate. Please, just wait another hour or two”
“NO I’m hungry Now!”
“No, you're not, you just want to eat”
“I’M HUNGRY I’M HUNGRY I’M HUNGRY!” Blueblood repeated. Gears growled in anger, but before he could yell, a hoof was on his shoulder. He looked at the offending hoof, noticing it was connected to a familiar red pegasus mare, who gave him a disapproving glare. He backed up a bit and let her do her thing. Harvest got closer to blueblood and raised her hoof.
“He stopped yelling and looked at her angry “Bluey, how about we get you fish?”
“No, I don’t want fish, I want that!” he pointed at the table where apple fritters were
“Those are for the ponies who eat bugs.” she lied
“Eww”
“Do you want to eat bugs”
“NO NO”
“Okay then wait we’ll get your food when we're done here okay”
“Okay,” He said disgusted
Gears breathe in and out several times before calming down. He then walked up to Blueblood, picked him up, and put him on his back. A group of mares in pants suits approached the table. The mares all had badges on their chest. Four of the mares walked out of the group and approached them. Gears straightened his tie and stood as tall as possible. The mares looked up at him. Three of them had a look of disgust and fearful, while one looked with intrigued. After some drawn out silence, the mare with a crescent moon badge spoke up.
“Hello sir, you must be the organizer,” she asked voice trembling
“Yes ma'am, might I ask who you might be?”
“Honey bees and you are?”
“Gears Sweets, good to meet you, Honey.”
Well, Mr Sweets, this is my peer landslide. Me and her are a part of the Lunar Republicans. Those mares besides her are Lemon Leaf, and Golden Grass, their Celestial Democrats.”
“Yeah, like the badges didn’t tell me that already” he said try to be witty
“Yeah sorry that came out wrong” it failed
“It's fine, now what's your policy? I need to come up with some questions for the speaker.”
“Oh, why don’t you go, Golden Grass”
“Fine, I’m planning on a putting though an executive order that would allow us to stop business from discrimination against stallion who are just trying to get a job. I also want to secure the border. We have way too many illegals have been coming in.”
“I also want to secure the border, but I don’t think we should get involved with businesses. We should probably encourage stallions to boycott any company who won't hire them.” Honey bees said.
“Who cares about stallion unemployment? We should be worried about expansion of business,” Landslide mentioned.
“We should make some more laws to keep them in line,” Lemon Leaf added. The mares began yelling over one another, making blueblood feel scared.
“Lady, please calm down and let's take this one at a time. You're making my son cry come on,” Gears yelled louder than all the mares. The tent went completely silent as everyone stared at him. Blueblood was shaking with a mix of fear and joy. Blueblood heard no one had ever yelled at to help him. Gears turned his head and faced Blueblood. The two lock eyes. Gears saw the emotion in Blue’s eyes. It made him feel terrible. He scared him again, and he wasn’t even trying, and he still scared him. A strong strike of guilt hit him like a train.
Honey bee cleared her throat. “You're right, Mr Sweets, let's go one at a time. How about everyone getting a turn? That's something a stallion likes, right?”
“Sure, let's go with that” Gears grabbed Blueblood and put Blueblood on the ground and looked over to Red Harvest. He gave her a look, which she picked up on immediately. Harvest trotted over and picked up Blueblood. She gestured for Green Day to follow her.
Canterlot, Retail street
Harvest, Blueblood, and Green Day walked out of the tent and stopped near a half decorated stage. Blueblood got off Harvest back and began walking to a table that was at the other end of the stage. Harvest turned to Green Day neither of them noticed Blueblood wasn’t with them any longer.
“So Your colt friend seems nice, but he's not much of a looker no offense”
“What are you talking about?”
“You and that stallion come on I’m not stupid with that look he gave you in the tent?”
“What no NO!, we are not together. We just met like two days ago.”
“Sure you did, well what you two do in your free time is up to you.”
“We aren’t together. Why would I lie to you”
“Well, he's a VIP, and you're a guard. Two don’t aren't supposed to be together.”
“I’m not with him like I said and I don’t know too much about Gears, but I doubt he would care about career position.”
“Okay fine, keep your secrets”
“Where uh whatever, blueblood what do yo- blueblood!? Bluey!?”
“Where’s the kid? Green Day asked Nervous
“I don’t know?!”
Canterlot, Retail street
Blueblood walked up to a mare who was about to reach for a badge, but stopped when she noticed him. The two looked at each other for a bit as she looked around over the closed street. She saw two dusk guards at the other end. Speaking to one another next to them was a closed sign on the Gold and midnight tent. She looked across from her and saw a construction team. To her surprise, she saw that they were mostly stallions. The mare looked back down at the colt. After realizing that no one was looking for him, she lowered herself to eye level with the colt.
“Hello there little colt, what's your name?”
“Blueblood, what's yours?”
“Morning star, so now do we know each other's names? Do you think you can tell me your dad’s name? maybe your mom’s?”
Blueblood’s eyes welled up with tears “I-I-I don’t”
Morning star patted him on the head. "It's okay, it's okay. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you feel sad.” she hugged the young colt. After a couple of minutes, Blueblood pulled away sightly and wiped his tears.
“Ms, what are you doing here?”
“I’m just going to get my badge and head into the tent.”
“Why is everyone wearing those thingis?”
“Well, it to tell the others what are group we’re a part of”
“But why do you have those groups? What do you ponies do?
“We are the one who get other ponies to vote of them and once we get enough; we get to lead ponies and help them with other thing”
“That sounds nice” blueblood smiles at the mare, making her heart melt.
“Well, aren’t you a little charmer? Well, let's get you to whoever is taking care of you.”
“Oh Ms Harvest is taking care of me because mister Gears is busy in the tent.”
Almost right on cue, a Guardsmare walked up and picked up Blueblood and put him on her back “Bluey no, you don’t talk to strangers, hasn't Gears told?”
“No, he hasn’t”
“Well I’m telling you, now I’m sorry Ms if he was a bother”
“No not at all I'm just glad someone came for him. Colts are in low number nowadays”
“Actually” Green day addressed the mare “the Canterlot bureau of biology is saying that the next generation of ponies will have more colts than filly and it will keep swapping till its evens out”
“Really, where did you read that a magazine” she asked genuinely
“A news article said not every stallion reads magazines.”
“Sorry, I am just interested in where you got that information”
“It's fine it just don’t assume something that you can't prove”
“Then how was I supposed to know where you got it from and every stallion I know owns magazines?”
He was about to open his mouth but was stopped by Red Harvest shoved her hoof in his mouth, causing Blueblood Giggle. She quickly pushed Green Day back to the tent. Once the three got far away from the mare. She Glared at Green Day, he glared back at her, waiting for one of them to brake.
“What in Tartarus are you thinking? She’s a politician, That's not somepony you want to mess with.”
“I was just annoyed that she assumed what I’m interested in.”
“Ponies assume things based on a group. Think about that if most stallions read magazines, then it's fine for her to assume it.”
“It's still not fair”
“Life isn’t fair and something tells me you're a stallionist”
“Yes”
“Oh sister, kill me.”
“We just want stallions to be treated equally.”
“We can’t. Do you want to know why?”
“Why?”
“Because stallions and males in general are stronger than mares. You can’t fight a mare equally. you can’t get pregnant, you're a stallion and if you want respect, you work for it. Nothing is against you, just stop complaining.” Harvest finished her rant and trotted to the tent Blueblood just held on to her as she quickens her place.
Canterlot
After two hours of waiting, Gears finally came out of the tent having a look of annoyance on his face. It quickly went away when he saw Blueblood. He grabbed Blue and placed him on his back. The two Guards saluted and followed him. Blueblood looked off into the distance and saw the castle.
“Mister Gears, are we Going to see the princess?”
Gears, who was looking at the clipboard in his clawed hoof, answered, “yes Blue she is the one Going to make the questions for those mares back there”
“Okay”
The two guards were glaring at each other, not even paying attention to the stallion and colt in front of them. Green Day trotted to Gears' side. Harvest quickly signals to him not to speak. He just gave her a glare and spoke up.
“Hey VIP Gears, may I ask a question?”
“shoot”
“What do you think about stallionism”
“The dumbest thing I have ever heard.” Harvest began laughing like a mad mare.

Canterlot, Castle
Gears, Blueblood and the two guards got to the gates of the castle. The guard at the gate opened up and the group walked in. the four ponies trotting all the way to the throne room. Once they arrived, Gears dismissed Harvest and Green Day and entered the room. Harvest and Green walked all the way back to the barracks. Once the two entered, Harvest and Green laid down on their respective bunks.
“I can’t believe he said that.” Green said disappointed
“What, the fact he doesn’t believe in a stupid, useless movement”
“It's not useless or stupid, you misogynist, but how can a brother not believe”
“He’s not your brother, he is just a stallion who doesn't care for that crap”
“Why!?”
“I don’t know, ask him.” harvest was getting annoyed
“Okay, I will, but still any ideas.”
“I don't care”
“Oh, come on, please”
“No, you whiny prick”
“Come on” Green day gave her a pair of sad eyes. She glared at him for what felt like hours but was really more like three minutes. Harvest rolled her eyes and grabbed her book. She started reading a chapter that was titled ‘the silent shadow’. She skimmed it before reading it out loud.
“The silent shadow, an elite group of warriors who fought for the Dragonlords of old, the group comprised of dragons that had traits that made them physically and genetically Superior to any other. A more recent example is when ponies migrated to the Dragonlands in 1867, ponies who had the ‘Genetic markers’ were allowed into the silent shadow. Young hatchlings born from a warrior get taught the culture of the silent shadow. The last team comprised five dragons and one stallion. Hacksaw, Spines, Gunner, Spotter and Decimus, the Stallion was never Identified.”
“That's interesting”
“You have got to be bucking with me. This just makes things more confusing”
“How?”
“I’m trying to figure out who the Tartarus Gears is”
“The VIP?”
“Yes him, I looked at the immigrations records, nothing. I looked at the noble records, nothing, the princess told me this would be something that could help me.”
“But it didn’t”
“No, it hasn't” Green Day hopped off his bunk looking at the immigration records. He flipped through the papers and landed on the S page. He looked through all the names and stopped on one 'Sugar Sweets’
“How about this; Sugar Sweets migrated from the Dragonlands with her dragon husband down to ponyville in 1926”
“What does that have to do with anything, Green?”
“Well, his name is Gears Sweets, isn’t it? So I was thinking a stallion like him would probably keep the family name, so if it's sweets and he looks kinda like a dragon, I would say this is probably his grandmother.”
“That clever Green. Does it say who the husband is?”
“A dragon by the name of Spines”
“Well, that explains things, but who is he?”
“Well, maybe have a stack out. See how what he does”
“Good thinking.”
Canterlot, Castle
Gears and Blueblood walked into the throne room. The princess was writing on a piece of paper, which she then sent, most likely, to someone important. Gears trotted up to her and gave her a hug. Twilight hugged him back, while blueblood was just sitting there, awkwardly watching the teacher and student. Twilight saw Blueblood’s look on his face, causing her to raise her hoof and wrap Blueblood in the hug. Gears felt Blueblood pressed on the back of his neck. Once the hug ended, Gears levitated over the clipboard. Twilight looked at it over with interest.
“Thank you Gears. now I can come up with questions for the candidates.”
“No problem Twilight It was surprisingly calm”
“Mister Gears, I’m hungry. Can we eat now?”
“Sure, Twilight care to join us”
“I would love to do anything for the little prince.” She proceeded to ruffle his mane. The three walked to the kitchen. Twilight dismissed her chef, while Gears put a pan on the stove. He put in avocado oil and threw in a beef patty. Twilight grabbed Blueblood off of Gears' back and put him on the ground.
“Little prince, can you get us some burger bread?”
“Okay.” Blueblood said with a smile. He walked to the drawers on the other side of the kitchen.
“So Gears now that we're alone, how is Blueblood?”
“Good, but he’s starting to act up.”
“Well maybe you need to discipline him, now that he’s used to you”
“What do you mean used to me?”
“He doesn't seem to be as scared of you as he used to be.”
“He’s still scared of me.” he said with a sad look in his eyes. Twilight noticed it but didn’t choose to comment, instead continuing to chop up the lettuce. “You know Twilight he still hasn’t called me his father… I know it's early but at this rate he might not”
“Gears flipped the patty, getting a sizzle from the meaty patty on the pan. “Well Gears, I know he will in time, just be patient.”
Blueblood came back, holding a packet of wheat breed. After an extra hour of cooking and Blueblood complaining that he’s hungry, the princess and the colt sat down at the table. Gears came out holding a massive tray filled with two hayburgers and one meat burger. All three had salad with fries. Gears put the two hay plates down in front of them. He grabbed his own plate and sat down. Gears grabbed a bite from his burger and savoring the taste. Blueblood stared at Gears’ plate. He saw the meat patty.
“Mister Gears, why are you eating that and we're eating this?” Blueblood asked. The teacher and the student gave a look at one another. Gears put down a fry he just picked up and cleared his throat and answered him.
“Blue I’m half dragon. Dragons can’t eat hay like you and the princess.”
“Why?”
“Because I can’t digest it.”
“What does digest me”
“It means he can’t make it into energy to use for moving around.”
“Oh, Okay” Blueblood went back to eating his burger. Twilight eats her fries, pretending not to notice Gears smile. The three finished their food. And walked out of the dining room.
“Mister Gears, what are we going to do next?”
“Well, before we go home, I was thinking we should go to the gun range.”
“Really, can I play with one?”
“Blueblood guns are not toys!” Gears raised his voice slightly. Blueblood whimpered and nodded his head. Gears felt a tinge of guilt after seeing blue’s scared face.
“It's Okay, Blueblood, your father is just trying to protect you.”
“O-Okay sorry mister Gears”
“It's okay, blueblood you didn’t know. Come on, let's get to the range.” Gears picked up blueblood and placed him on his back.
Canterlot, Castle
Red harvest and Green day were firing rifles at the targets down range. Harvest fired her CETME Model C hitting a target twice in the black figure's chest. Green day had an M14 and hit his target twice in the head and once in the white paper surrounding the figure. Gears, Blueblood and the princess walked into the room. Blueblood immediately covered his ears from the guns going off. Gears used his magic to levitate three sound canceling headphones over to them. The three put on the headphones and went to the weapons rack.
“So Twilight, what do you want?”
“No, thank you, I 'd rather just watch you two.”
“Okay then”
Blueblood grabbed a sniper rifle and tried to pull it off the rack. Gears noticed it and pulled it out of Blueblood hoof. “Oh come on, I want to use that”
“No blue, this one is too powerful for you, you can use this one” Gears hooved over a Colt 1911 to the colt. Gears picked up an AK-47, and the two began walking over to the shooting gallery. Blueblood saw Harvest at the end of the Gallery. He got excited and trotted over to her. Gears followed him, keeping him in his sight.
“Mis harvest, Mis harvest. What are you doing here?” Harvest looked at Blueblood after hearing a muffled voice. She flick on the safety on her rifle.
“Hay blueblood what are you-” she saw the pistol in his hoof and immediately took it from him”
“Hey, why did you do that?!”
“A little colt like you shouldn’t have this. it's not a toy,” she said sternly.
“But mister Gears said he will show me how to use it.” Blueblood stated, annoyed. Gears walked up to Harvest and took the gun from her hoof. She was about to go off on him when he turned the gun over to show her under the gun. There was no magazine in the gun. He turned back over to the barrel where the ejector was. Gears pulled the slide back and revealed the empty barrel. He filched the slide release with his claw and it closed. He also showed the safety button and saw it was on safety.
“It's empty, Sargeant.”
“You can’t just give a five-year-old a gun”
“I was five when I learned.”
“What idiot would let a colt use a firearm that young”
Gears gritted his teeth in anger. His claws digging into the tiled floor, cracks forming on the floor. Blueblood noticed this and backed up. Gears slowly walked up to her. She never realized how tall he was. She was about 5,8 but when she looked at Gears, he seemed to be 6,8. Harvest wilted as black smoke came from Gears’ nostrils. Twilight got in between the two ponies, spitting them apart.
"Gears, why don’t you and Blueblood go home and come back after you get out of the lab?”
“Okay” Gears picked up Blueblood and walked out of the room. Harvest instinctively took a deep breath, not realizing she had stopped breathing.
“Um thank you princess I was kinda nervous there”
“Trust me, you were never in any danger. Gears would never hit a mare”
“What?! But we had a sparring match yesterday.”
“Well, if it's a fight that both he and his opponent agree to, he has no problem, within limits, of course.”
“Well, still thank you princess”
“Don’t mention it although I recommend you check out the personnel files for the war, I just want to make sure they're complete.”
“Yes ma’am.”
Canterlot, CIS
Professor Crossbones glared at the empty workbench. She began walking to the elevator. she stopped to wink at orange spray, a stallion she had some ‘fun’ with two days ago. He was currently looking down in embarrassment and shame. She continued her way to the elevator when it opened. Gears and Blueblood walked into the lab and passed Crossbones. He placed Blueblood on the desk, then he got out his blueprints and shell of the staff.
“GEARS, MY OFFICE, NOW!!” Crossbones yelled. Gears looked at Blue and noticed he didn’t seem frightened by the mare’s yell.
“You're not scared, Blue?”
“No, your scarier mister Gears”
“GEARS!!” she yelled again
“I’m coming”
“Not yet, you're not!” she joked. Everyone in the room blushed at this, except Blueblood, the joke completely going over his young mind. Gears entered the office and glared at the professor. She trotted to her desk and sat down.
“Do you know why I called you in here, Gears?”
“Because I didn’t show up yesterday”
“Oh so you do know what you did.”
“Yes ma’am” Gears gritted his teeth
“So why did you skip yesterday?” Her voice was calm but did not lose her authority.
“I had to do something for the princess. I'm sorry for not informing you, that was bad on my part.”
“Okay then, good to know, but I’m not letting you off the hook because you're a stallion. Tomorrow, I want you to help me with some errands.”
“Okay then, Can I get back to work”
“Yes, but don’t forget to wear something sexy and for Faust sakes, wear some makeup and hide those eyesores of scales.” Gears face fell for a moment, but then he quickly gained a neutral expression.
“Yes, ma’am” Gears began to walk out of the office. Crossbones stared at Gears’ flank. She bit her lip as she saw the jiggle of his flank.
“If only he wasn’t a freak of nature, then again”
Gears walked back to his workstation and started on the wires for the staff. Blueblood looked at Gears’ staff. “Mister Gears, what are you doing?”
“I’m wiring the crystal with a staff and connecting it with the trigger so if you pull it the weapon can fire.” he answered angrily
Blueblood winced a bit, but then got off the desk and walked to Doctor Fisherline. She was adding green glowing batteries into her weapon. She turned the dial to eleven, the weapon ping and beeped as the weapon lit up and the radiation meter went into the red zone. Her eyes widened as she pulled out an external radiation meter and saw the radiation in the room was at zero. She had an overjoyed expression on her face.
“I did it.” Fisherline said in disbelief
“What did you do, mis Fisherline?” Blueblood asked, staring at the thing he picked up for her.
“Oh hay Blueblood, I was just checking the radiation from the ammunition for the 1812572114 prototype”
“What ray- ray-iten-aiton?”
“Its radiation, its uh, makes a lot of people very sick, if there's a lot of it that is. It took a lot of trial and error to make the ammo.”
“That sounds bad.”
“It is but now I think it is ready. I’m going to the roof to test it. Do you think you and Gears can come up to the roof with me?”
“Mister Gears! Can we go?”
“I can’t Blue, I have to keep working on the staff, but you can go with the good doctor.”
“Really!? Thank you, thank you, thank you.” Blueblood hugged Gears’ leg. Gears smiled at Blue as he continued to tie the wires. Fisherline tapped on Blueblood’s shoulder. Blueblood let go of Gears’ leg and hopped up and down with excitement.
“Don’t worry Gears, I will take good care of him.” Fisherline stated, Gears nodded as he went back to work, not showing the worried look on his face on what she said.
Doctor Fisherline and Blueblood walked into the elevator and hit the button to head to the roof. Blueblood looked back at Gears. He had his back turned to them. Sparks flew over his shoulder as the professor walked up to him and put her hoof on his flank. But, before Blueblood saw Gears’ reaction, the elevator closed.
Canterlot, CIS Roof
The mare and colt got to the roof and walked out of the elevator. Blueblood looked around the roof while Fisherline went to a control panel next to the elevator. She flips three switches, making four ruined stone pop out of the ground. They glowed a pink color as a slow humming noise came from the ruins. A big pink dome covered the entire roof. Seven targets came up from the ground and magical shields popped up over the targets.
“Coooool” Blueblood smiled as he saw the dome
She chuckled. “yeah I guess it is. The princess made it so we can test it out are creations”
“So what are we doing, mis Fisherline?”
“I'm going to fire the prototype at the targets to see if it works.”
“Okay”
Fisherline aimed her weapon to the target that was closer to her. She fired a green plasma bolt with three rings that followed around it. The bolt hit the target, blowing through the shield, the rings burning a hole through the target. Blueblood had stars in his eyes.
“Awesome!”
“It worked, it worked” Fisherline let out a squeal as she looked at her experiment. Blueblood tapped her leg and gave her a smile. “So Blueblood, you and Gears seem to be getting fond of each other.”
“Mister Gears is scary. Well he just looks scary, but I like him more now.”
“Yeah, remember, just because it looks scary doesn't mean it is. Does Gears do anything that scary?”
“He yells but not all the time.”
“Well, yeah, yelling is a bit scary but I think he might be working on it. He doesn't seem like a bad pony, so just don’t let him yelling, stop you from being close with him.”
“Okay”
“Well, I need to go back inside to show this to the professor, and I’m sure Gears wants to see you too.” Fisherline grabbed Blueblood and placed him on her back. Fisherline turned off the safety and range and headed back to the elevator.
The elevator opened, and the two walked to the workbench, passing other scientists messing with their creation. An orange stallion held a silver explosive in his hoof. He put it on the work beach and it went off, but instead of the floor being engulfed in flames, big foamy suds went everywhere, covering everyone in the room.
Canterlot, CIS
The professor and Gears were laying on the desk not wearing clothing either were normally seen with. Sweat dripped off the two’s bodies as Gears’ blushed in embarrassment and shame mixed in his face. Gears got off the desk and grabbed his pants and put them on quickly. “So are we even now. I don’t have to go with you tomorrow.”
Gears put on his pink button up and walked to the door. “No, Gears, you still have to do that.”
“What?! But you said”
“I just said it so you could sleep with me”
“But you gave me your word.” Gears' face contorted in anger, tears forming in the corner of his eyes.
“You honestly thought I meant what I said, please you colts are so gullible.” Gears slammed his clawed hooves on the desk, his sharp teeth on full display. After a long moment of tension, there were screams of pain outside the office, making the two ponies stare at the office door. Gears looked back at the professor, then bolted through the door.
BLUEBLOOD! BLUEBLOOD! WHERE ARE YOU?!” Gears shouted over the soap suds. He heard a pair of little lungs screaming. Gears galloped to the screaming and picked him up. He placed Blueblood on his back and ran to the elevator.
Canterlot, Gears’ Condo
Gears was bathing Blueblood with fur safe soap. Blueblood was crying as patches of fur fell off his body and landed in the water. Gears stopped scrubbing Blueblood's mane and looked him over. He dried his hooves on and wiped the tears from Blueblood's eyes. Blueblood looked up at Gears, seeing his sad smile etched on his face.
Does it still hurt Blue?” Gears asked in a calm, low voice.
Blueblood shook his head and raised his hooves to Gears. He picked up Blueblood and placed him on his back. “Come on blue, let's get you some clothes for the time being.”
O-okay M-Mister G-Gears” Blueblood said, wincing as the air touched his exposed skin. Gears noticed this and decided to get some ointment for Blueblood instead.
Canterlot, Gears’ Condo
Red Harvest was flying discreetly above to peer in the condo window. She saw Gears and Blueblood run out of the building. Blue covered in red suds, she didn’t know what happened or the existence of the damage till now. She saw Gears with dark purple spots on his legs, indicating that he had irritation on them. She flew over to the bathroom window, hid next to it and peered in. Harvest was shocked as she saw that the red suds were removing Blueblood’s fur. He was crying and saying that it hurt. She looked at Gears and saw he also had pain in his face, but he was hiding it well.
“Oh bluey, what happened?” she asked under her breath as tears rolled down Blueblood’s face.
After a few minutes Gears took Blueblood out of the tube and after the two spoke with another she flew to another window to keep them in sight. Gears walked away from Blueblood after putting him on the couch. After a moment of sniffing from Blueblood. Gears came back with rubbing medicine. Gears put some in his hoof and gently rubbed it in Blueblood’s blistered skin.
“It's cold, Mister Gears.” Blue complained
“I know it's blue, but it's good that it’s cold. If it wasn’t, that would be really bad.” Gears said in a stern toun.
“I’m sorry Mister Gears”
“For what!”
“For whatever reason, you're mad at me.”
“What?!”
“You sound mad, I’m sorry”
“Blue I am mad, just not at you. A mare in the office made me do something I didn’t want to do or else she would fire me, and that made me really mad.” Gears explained, wanting to reassure his adoptive son.
“What did you do?”
Gears looked down in shame. Blueblood couldn’t see Gears’ face, but from the window was angled just right so harvest could see the look he had. Harvest ran through scenarios in her head as she saw his face. The more that ran through her head, the angrier she got. She looked back at the two. Gears picked up Blueblood, and the two began to walk out the front door.

Canterlot, lock h'm up
Red Harvest tailed the two colts. She was flying above them. She kept her distance, not wanting either of them to notice her. Gears was taking a strange route, he was moving from alleyways and back roads. All leading to a lock up outside of Canterlot city and into the outskirts. She swept down and followed them on hoof.
Gears and Blueblood, got to a lock up "what are we doing here mister Gears"
"I need to get a few things from here blue"
"Okay”
Harvest peered from the corner and saw Gears open the lock up. The two entered the lock up, followed by Harvest, who hid behind a set of boxes. Gears placed blueblood on the ground as he approached a box at the far end. He pulled out a cross from the box and placed it on his forehead. Harvest got closer and heard what Gears was saying under his breath.
"Forgive me god for I have sinned. I have been tempted, and I have fallen into a trap of my own making. God, please give me the strength to get past this and please help me with Blueblood, for I do not know what I’m doing. Please give me the strength and guidance for this endeavor.” Gears prayed.
Harvest heard the prayer and was surprised. “So you're a stallion of faith, aren't you?” she said with a smirk. Gears kissed the cross and placed it in his saddlebag. Blueblood approached Gears and tug on his pants.
“Mister Gears, what's that?” Blueblood asked, pointing at something Harvest couldn’t see. She moved to another set of boxes to see what the two ponies were looking at. She saw a wall covered in weapons. Harvest saw all sorts of blunt and sharp weapons.
"What's all this, mister Gears?”
"It's an Arsenal, most of this was my father’s”
"Have you ever used them?”
"Yes my father trained me in all of them, although I did master one.” Gears approached the wall and picked up a scythe. He placed it on his shoulder and smile at Blueblood.
"Cool… can you teach me.”
"I don’t know blue”
"Please, you said you would teach me how to use a gun, why not this" Blueblood argued
"Those are two different things."
"Come on, please" Blueblood said with puppy dog eyes
"Fine but we're doing it the way my father taught me and trust me. It's not easy."
"I can do it!" Blueblood shouted happily.
"We'll see about that" Gears said with a scowl on his face
Harvest glared at Gears. She backed up and knocked over a box. "Shit" she whispered.
Gears lightly pushed Blueblood behind him. Gears approached the knocked over box. He looked around the area, not knowing the mare was hiding on the roof. Harvest looked down on. He had a concerned look on his face.
“Blueblood, stay behind me.” Blueblood got behind Gears, holding a punching dagger in his hoof. Gears glanced at the weapon in Blueblood's hoof. Harvest saw the neck muscles on Gears twitch she knew He was about to look up at her. She quickly dived behind a box that was next to the weapon rack. Gears looked up to see a black steel ceiling. After a quick sweep. Gears placed Blueblood on his back and took the punching dagger in his saddle bag. He walked out of the lock up leaving it open.
Harvest got out of her hiding spot and looked around. She approached a box labeled ‘family’. She opened it and pulled out an old scrapbook. The book had ‘Happy Family’ inscribed on it. Harvest put the scrapbook and put it under her wing. She looked throughout the box and found a diary with ‘Gears Sweets’ written on it. She put it under her other wing. Harvest closed the box and walked out of the lockup. She heard hoof steps on the gravel. She quickly ran across the corner and peered out to see Gears close the lockup. The two colts walked away. Harvest looked at the two walking, her eyes looked lower and saw Gears’ behind, his dragon tail moved up and patted Blueblood on the head. Harvest didn’t notice it due to her eyes being focused on his flank. Her wings stuck up in the air and her face turned a darker shade of red.
"Well, I didn’t expect that.” she said to herself picking up the two items she 'borrowed'.
Canterlot, Retell Row
Father and son were trotting down the city streets. Gears walked down the road, focus on the street ahead. He ignored the glares and the whispering ponies, no doubt the hushed conversation was about him and Blueblood. Blueblood looked around, scared at the ponies who were glaring at them. Blueblood moved his head closer to Gears’ ear.
"Mister Gears, why are those ponies looking at us like that.” he asked quietly
*sigh* "Blue, they're scared of me and you're hurt there, probably blaming it on me.”
"But you didn’t do this.”
They don’t care , they want to look good in front of others.”
"Why”
"It's called herd mentality. They just want to feel like they belong. Even if it means hurting others.”
Blueblood was about to say something when a stallion approached the two. “You leave that colt alone, freak”
Blueblood cowered in fear as the stallion yelled. Gears gave blue a sympathetic smile and looked at the stallion. “Sir, please don’t insult me, It’s disrespectful, and the colt is my son. He and I were going shopping for some clothes.”
Stop lying freak we know you hurt that colt!” the stallion shouted, Blueblood looked around at the ponies surrounding them. The ponies started to shout at the two. Blueblood started to cry as the ponies got louder. Gears placed him on the ground.
"Blue go and hide I will deal with this” he said trying to keep his anger contained ‘you assholes want to make my boy cry, well lets just hope you can be reason with’
Blueblood ran off as the mob let him through. Gears glanced up at Red Harvest who he knew was watching him. Harvest was staring at Gears who was surrounded. She saw Blueblood ran and hid behind a fruit stand. She flew over to him and picked him up.
“Ms Harvest, those ponies are yelling at Mister Gears!” he said with tears in his eyes
"I know bluey don’t worry I won't let them do anything to you” she said looking at Gears, worried
Gears stared at the ponies with an neutral look on his face. ‘Come Gears don’t show it twilight taught you better don’t lash out, remember what father taught you. Use anger, use pain, use fear’
Gears counted fifteen ponies six were mares, and the remaining were nine stallions. “Please, guys I don’t want to hurt you but I won't hesitate to defend myself. This is your warning.”
"Don’t threaten us freak, you'll pay for what you did to that colt!” the stallion yelled Gears could tell that the group was wary of standing by. Two stallions grab on to Gears front hooves and pulled him back a mare pulled a blade and approached him. Blueblood cried as the group closed in on Gears. The mare slash her knife at him only for a red foreleg to take the cold steel in its leg. Gears saw the mare who took the hit. It was Red Harvest. He saw the pained look on her face as she held her leg trying to stop the blood from pouring out. A fire lit up in Gears’ eyes. Before anyone could react, Gears got out of the two stallions' grasp and disarmed the mare. She was about to hit him, but was tossed to the ground. Gears looked at the rest of the group. All but three ponies ran away.
“Gentlecolts back away from my mare and leave if you choose to fight then this will be on you” Gears flipped the knife in his clawed hoof to emphasize. One stallion charged at him. He quickly rolled out of the way and tossed the knife at the stallion’s back leg making him fall on the stone floor, screaming in pain as he held his leg. The other two stallions ran at Gears. Gears performed a spinning hook kick on the first stallion, knocking him to the ground with a sickening crunch, then moved forward and grabbed the last stallion by the throat and lifted the stallion with little effort.
“Before you do anything else, listen up. Your friends are injured, one with a knife in his leg and the other with a cracked skull. How about instead of getting your bones broken you help them to a hospital.” Gears let the stallion down and began to walk to Harvest with a sympathetic look on his face. Blueblood saw the fight behind the stand. He saw the remaining stallion pick up his two friends and ran away as fast as they could. Gears gently placed Harvest on his back. Blueblood ran to the two adults.
"Mister Gears, is Ms harvest going to be okay?” Blueblood asked worriedly.
"Well she will be after I fix her, so come on we need to get home as fast as possible” the two colts trotted down the road
Canterlot, Gears’ Condo
Harvest woke up in a bed. The room she was in had pictures covering the far end wall. She looked at one of the pictures. It was Gears and a draconic mare who had autumn colored scales and moss green mane. She looked at her body and saw her foreleg. It was covered in bandages. The door of the room opened, Gears walking in the door with a tray on his back.
"Hey, you're awake.” Gears said with a warm smile. Harvest blushed at his smile.
"Hay Gears, Where are we?”
"My home I stitched your foreleg together after dealing with the angry mob.”
"Yeah I saw that” harvest said thinking back to the fight. She began to blush as she remembered what he had said
"You uhm called me your mare” she blush harder as she saw the smile on his face. It went from a happy to a more playful expression.
"Well when a beautiful mare needs my help they become mine for the time being.”
Harvest began to laugh. She had no Idea why but she let it pass “well uh thanks for helping me but why didn’t you do that in the first place, that mare was going to stab you.” she said angrily
Gears didn’t answer her. He simply pulled out a knife and brought it down on his foreleg. Harvest was going for his leg to pull the blade out of his hoof but she was too late, but to her surprise the knife broke in two as the blade impacted in Gears leg. “What the fu-"
"Dragon scales can’t be pierced by most metals unless it goes at extremely high velocity.” Gears explained.
"Oh um yeah kinda wish I knew that now.” she said with an embarrassed smile.
"Well if your going to follow me again how about you just let me handle things”
You kenw!?” she said simultaneously surprised and impressed not many have been able to spot her when she is on their tail. He nodded and kissed her on the forehead, walked out of the room while her blush returned in full force.
Canterlot, Gears’ Condo
Blueblood woke up from his nap, Gears told him to get some sleep when they got home, he walked out of his room and saw Gears sitting at the table with his claw? Hooves? Blueblood didn’t know what to call them. He walked up to Gears and heard his muttering to himself
"Really a kiss on the forehead you just meet her f–idiot” Gears said under his breath
"Mister Gears, what are you doing?” Blueblood asked him tilting his head
"Nothing Blue, don't worry."
"Mister Gears, is Ms Harvest going to be okay?"
"Yeah Blue, her injury looked worse than it was."
"Okay"
“Come on, let's make her some ‘get well soon’ brownies.” Gears said with a joyful smile. Blueblood bounced up and down as they approached the kitchen

Canterlot, Gears Condo
Red Harvest looked around the room she was in. The walls had red wallpaper with a regal design etched into it. She saw a few photos on the wall. That was just Gears with the military battle dress on and another wearing a black and red tactical camo suit with a black AR500 level 3 body armor plate carrier. He also had a recon/sniper chest rack with a ghillie suit and a heavily modified MK13 Rifle. Harvest proceeded to get out of bed gently so as to not hurt her injured leg. She trotted to a desk that was next to the only window. When she got there, two photos were on the desk’s surface, a purple pegasus mare and a blue box next stood next to Gears, and another with a Green earth pony mare kissing him on the lips.
“Who is she?!” Harvest asked out loud, not expecting an answer
“Her name is Granny Smith. A mare I was close with.” Gears said, making his presence known
Harvest turned around, surprised at getting caught. “Um haaay Gears, you're looking very handsome, I mean good today!” ‘crap, crap, crap I must seem like some jealous weirdo to him now.’
“Thank you, I think you look gorgeous as well.” he said playfully
“Uh thanks, so um, what happened with you and her if you don’t mind me asking?” she recoils at her question, not wanting to bring up any bad memories.
“Her family made her choose between me or them. I didn’t want her to make that decision, so I ended things. I don’t want to be the reason a family is torn apart. (Not again)” Gears said, the last part under his breath.
“So you made it for her? Why?” Harvest question not know why she cared so much.
“Losing family is the worst thing that can ever happen to someone. Even if you choose it, it'll break Them in ways they won’t understand till it's too late.” he walked up to the photo with a faint smile.
“But what gave you the right to make that choice?” Harvest prodded, waiting to see his response
“I was her boyfriend and my father raised me to take care of my mares even if they don’t like it.” Gears said with conviction on his face.
“So the best way to take care of her was to let her be with her family.” Harvest looked at Gears with both newfound respect and slight annoyance. She moved closer to Gears and grabbed his head. She moved his head lower and kissed him on the forehead, just under his horn. When she pulled away, she blushed ever so slightly as what she did sank in.
“Well, that was adorable.” Gears turned her toward him and, without wasting time he brought his lips to hers. He pulled back and gave her a wink. Her blush was more pronounced at this point. Gears opened his mouth but was stopped when Blueblood ran into the room.
“Mister Gears, Ms Harvest, the brownies are ready, the brownies are ready!” Blueblood shouted in joy as he bounced up and down. Gears and Harvest gave each other a look and both burst out in laughter. Blueblood looked at both of the adults, confused.
“What's so funny?” Blueblood asked, not knowing what was going on. Harvest patted Blueblood on the head as her response.
“Come on you two, let's get some brownies.”
“Yay!” Blueblood shouted
“Sure” Harvest smiled.
Canterlot, Gears Condo
Gears pulled out the brownies from the oven and placed them on the dinner table. Blueblood quickly grabbed a brownie and tried to eat it, only to burn his mouth. Blueblood spits out the hot brownie on the table, making a mess on said table with hot fug, spilling onto it.
“Blue, you should really wait for a little before digging in. Also mare first.” Gears chuckled.
“No, it’s stallion first” Harvest looked at Gears with a confused look on her face
“For you, maybe” Gears gave her a wink. Blueblood looked at the scene in front of Harvest, smiled, and rolled her eyes, all directed at Gears. Blueblood giggled at the two.
Harvest looked at Blueblood with a raised eyebrow. “What's so funny?”
“Sorry Ms. Harvest, but I think you and mister Gears are cute together!” Blueblood giggled more. Gears chuckle, trying to distract attention from the blush appearing on his face. Harvest took a more directed approach, tossing her mane over her face. Gears looked over at her and laughed louder as he looked at her.
“Yeah, yeah laugh it up, mister Hornyhead.” she snapped at him
“Oh, come on, your adorable that way.” he said, wrapping his foreleg around her. She blushed as she felt his clawed hoof on her shoulder. ‘Damn it Gears! Stop flirting for one moment, Twilight damn it, I’m a dusk guard, I should be more professional than this.’ she mentally shouted. Gears gently, ever so softy, lowered his hoof, and caressed one of her wings.
Harvest's wings flared in an instant as she quickly stood up and practically sprinted out the door. Blueblood and Gears looked at the door as it closed. “I’m Sorry.” Blueblood said as tears filled his eyes.
Gears snapped out of his shock as he heard his son’s apology. Hw turned to Blueblood and gave him a hug. “There is nothing to be sorry about, Blue this is my fault.”
“But but-” Blueblood stammered
“No, but, now let's get you to bed.”
Canterlot, The Rising Dusk
Green Day was sitting at the counter at the local bar, and he had a cosmopolitan cocktail in front of him. He looked around the bar, seeing a couple of mares flirting with stallions of all varieties. Green Day huffed in annoyance. ‘Mares are so pushy.’ he thought as he finished his drink. A mare with a pink coat and a hot pink straight mane approached him with an overconfident grin.
“Hello sweetie~” the mare said showing stand yellow teeth
‘Oh buck me’ Green Day faked a smile and turned towards the mare “Hello”
So what is a handsome colt like you doing all alone here?” The mare got closer and closer to Green Day, making him feel uncomfortable. The mare places her foreleg on his back leg. Green began to hyperventilate, as the mare got closer to him, then somepony came to his rescue.
"There you are Green, who’s your friend?” a gruff voice cut into both ponies' ears and caused the mare to back away from Green. The mare saw the owner of the voice is, a large stallion with dragon scales going over his form wearing a pink button up and black slacks
Gears got in between the two as he ordered an apple family whiskey, dry, for himself and a sweet sugar surprise for Green Day. Green pick up on what Gears was doing and wrap his foreleg around Gears'
There you are sugar!" Green in a mock sweetness
The mare walked away "I'm here for a stud, not a fruit"
As the mare got out of earshot. Gears pulled his foreleg away from Green. Gears with an eerily calm expression looked at Green and said: " call me sugar again and I'll break your legs."
"Uhm-um okay got it, sorry I thought that was how we were playing it."
After a long silence, Gears chuckled "back then that would have gotten her more interested."
"Really? mares hate colt cuddlers!"
"That's what ponies call it. Us dragons just called it gay"
Us dragon- ho, you identify more as a dragon male than a stallion, that makes sense."
"I identify as myself, and man that's the word you're looking for."
"Dragon males call themself men. It happened after the founding of the church about 5,000 years ago." As Gears finished, the two drinks were given to them.
Green looked over to the calendar, not making sense of the year numbers. "Hay Gears Equestria flipped to the dragon calendar, but what did it start from?"
"The death of the first dragon king. His name was King Spike the Brave and virtuous. He founded the church, bound peace between the ponies and dragon, and defended the first changeling royal from the Crystal Empire." Gears' eyes seemed to glimmer with admiration.
“You seem to really like him." Green chuckled as he sipped his beverage.
"It's every whelp's dream to be like him."
“Well, that must be nice to have somepo- or somedragon to look up to. I never had that, any stallion role model, just my mom and her stallion toy of the week.” Green looked down, tears filling his eyes. Gears looked at Green with pity. He wrapped his foreleg around Green.
“It’ll be alright, you're going to be Okay.” Gears said, trying to comfort the crying stallion.
“Sorry, I probably look pathetic to you.”
“Doesn't matter, not now. Everyone deserves a father, but not all of us could have that privilege. Look, you may not have had one, so I recommend you be that for someone else.”
“Is that what you are doing for that colt? Being something he doesn't have."
“Yeah, he has so much potential. I need to help him find it as a father should." Gears looked at the bottle of whiskey behind the counter.
“Well, I wish you luck with that, I mean, you have a colt and a mare who loves you. You clearly doing something right." Green downed the rest of his drink. Gears ordered another round of drinks.
"Well I don't know about all that but thanks."
“Come on you and Sergeant Harvest it's clear you both like each.”
“Yeah well, it's just complicated between us. Now let's just have a drink and relax."
"Um-Okay" Green took a sip of his refilled drink
Canterlot, Harvest’s Residents
Harvest shut the front door, her wings finally lowering to her sides. As her bandages got a darker red from the Bloodloss caused by reopening her wound, she finally felt a sting in her leg. She walked over to the sink and unbandage it. She had reopened her stitches but was not under threat of permanent damage. As she reached the top shelf, she heard hoof steps come from the living room. An older stallion turned the corner. He had a graying mane and tail, his coat was a darker shade of orange and his eyes were a bright blue.
“Harvest, Hun you came home later than you said you would I was getting worried.” the stallion said with concern.
“Sorry dad, something came up. So How’s Aurora?”
“She’s Good I just put her to bed” the stallion walked up to her.
“Dad don’t come over-”
“In Princess Twilight’s good name what happened hon?” he saw the massive cut on her leg and immediately got the med kit from the draw. He motioned her to move to the couch and ss soon as the two sat down. Her father began to bandage her leg.
“Thanks, dad”
“No problem but tell me what happened”
“Oh just your daughter being an idiot.” she snarks
“What happened?” he said, deadly serious.
“I was trying to defend a stallion who clearly didn’t need help.”
“Hon, you should really be more careful I mean what if got killed? It's bad enough that poor Aroura has to grow up without a father but without a mother!” he scolded.
She sighed “I know I’m sorry I just really thought he need the help.”
“Well, I hope he was worth it because this is going to take some time to heal."
“wouldn’t matter I screwed it up anyways."
“What do you mean hon?"
I ran out like a little filly the moment he touched my wings."
“In what way?"
“A flirty way and instead of going with it, I ran."
“And you're leg?"
“He patch me up and I ran on it that simple."
Well I'll get a friend of mine to come over tomorrow and look you over and also keep an eye on you so you don't hurt yourself anymore"
"Okay, dad." 'You have to be messing with me dad' Harvest lay down on the couch and fell asleep waiting for a dreadful old colt to treat her like a little filly tomorrow.
